DQ - hurrah for your exam being over, no more revising now?

Josey - glad to hear your DH is on his way.

I agree M&S are rubbish re measuring, and I've never got on with their bras. I love Bravissimo - will probably end up ordering stuff from Figleaves though, as I don't think Bravissimo do any underwired nursing bras. Not prepared to have my boobs unsupported without wires I'm afraid.

Upsidedowncake · 07/05/2008 18:25

Hello

Josey, glad your DH coming home. What a relief! Re feet, I know!

Dramaqueen, glad your exam went well!

Paro, what a day and what a lucky escape! Hope you manage to escape an induction.

I second what you all say about nursing bras - though I can't find anyone who does underwired nursing bras above 34H - can anyone else?

Parofleurmapu · 07/05/2008 18:39

Upsidedown - im now 38H and although bras ive got for bf are not underwired, the one from fig leaves is very good, bit like a sports bra and really gives support. Prob will get more of that one is one i have www.figleaves.com/uk/product.asp?product_id=GOD-GD2050&mci=&size=&colour=pink&image=r343600-p 459137-front

ladies im feelin down tonight bit angry about my babies dad and the way he has treated me in this pregnancy. He has spoken to me like dirt and i didnt do any thing to him what makes me mad is that he never once text to ask how the baby was growing or anything! How irresponsible of him!! Dont get me wrong im coping but im just so angry and i always will be i cant stand him anymore she may have his genes but will never grow up to be like him ill make sure of that!

Its a mad world when he talks to me like rubbish and i treat him nice and yet he treates me like i tried to shoot him i am just so disgusted with him thats all and needed a rant becauseee im sitting here fuming a bit! I just wish someone else was her father saying that he will never be her father he will be the sperm doner because he hasnt earned the title of Father!!!!!

As the phrase goes anyone can be a sperm doner but it takes someone special to be a dad! I just find as im closer to having her i get angry at him for not even asking about her i am not bothered he dont ask about me but this baby is just innocent

bitofadramaqueen · 07/05/2008 20:20

No more revising whinegums but there's quite a bit of course work I'd like to get out of the way before the baby comes though, so cant pack away the books entirely. Am going to take a few days off though and think about hospital bags and birth plans .

I was the same as you re: wires and bras but I got a few maternity ones without wires in pregnancy and have learned to live with them. I'm a fair old size but have been quite impressed with how supportive they've been. That said, am looking forward to getting back into wire when things settle down!

Gemmalou sorry you're feeling a bit down - hope you feel a bit better soon.

systemsaddict · 07/05/2008 20:59

Ah, I miss my underwired bras ... but have been back in my trusty Royce nursing bras for some time now. There's a great company round here [http://www.bras4mums.co.uk/] who will come to the house and measure you, so if I do get my 2 weeks (or more) off work before baby arrives I'll see if I can get an appointment with them, a nice thing to do before baby arrives and I think I'm a different size from before anyway. Was 34D in dim and distant past pre-1st pregnancy, so getting the right bras has always been important! I wouldn't cross the threshold of M&S for measuring, after they told me I was a 40A ...

On bottle controversy, tbh once I started feeding ds expressed milk my concern was far more finding a bottle he would accept! Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature was the only one he would have, so we had little choice! I tend to be fairly sceptical of food scares like this anyway; if these bottles were really dangerous surely we'd know about it by now, given the millions upon millions of babies who've used them.

Anyone else getting FIERCE Braxton-Hicks in the evenings?

Sorry to hear about your baby's father being such an arse Gemma.

systemsaddict · 07/05/2008 21:09

dramaqueen well done on getting through the exam! I am at an international seminar all this week and have to present on my research tomorrow, but could barely even introduce myself today, my brain is scrambled and I can't seem to make the links I normally would so I know how you feel!

Nursing tops: I am planning to just pull up a T-shirt, at most perhaps with vest underneath to enable layered effect and cover up tummy - escaped without stretch marks last time but not so lucky this time. The baby covers everything you might see once they're latched on anyway. I have instead invested vast sums in a My Brest Friend breastfeeding pillow, as I really struggled to hold my nearly 10lb newborn in a good position with just normal cushions last time, and ended up with really sore nips as he dragged down on them. Will let you all know if it was worth the money in a few weeks' time!

right must now go to bed otherwise tomorrow will go completely pearshaped. Can't wait to hear from Neenz ...

Gemma I dont blame you for being so hacked off....some men should just rot away somewhere....you will have a lovely little girl in a few weeks though and you and her will be really happy and that is something to look forward too.

SA getting beast of BH's all the time, especially when baby moves it feels as though I might just burst at the seems. Agree about the scares if it really was all that bad everything would be pulled from the shelfs by now IMO.

I have awful hacked skin on my lower arm and legs im really falling to bits the pregnancy.

DO you think Neez is busy with her babies yet?

xxgemmalou22xx · 07/05/2008 21:48

josey i no i am looking forward to seeing her i really am im just soo angry hes going to let the baby suffer for him being a coward! ill give her enough love for the both of us though, like you said some men should just rot away!

I just needed to have moan about it i hope she grows up to understand i tried to involve him. His new gf and him make a gud match there both idiots she keeps her baby up all hours and burnt his mouth heating bottles in the microwave and lots lots more im glad he aint about i wouldnt want her looking after my child if thats what she is like!

Lorettah · 07/05/2008 21:52

I've not felt any BH, but i have been getting period like pain in the mornings - just after I've been to the loo. I'm assuming its just pressure from the baby!

bitofadramaqueen · 07/05/2008 21:52

sounds like a good plan with the t-shirts systemaddict.

No painful BHs for me (non at all ever as far as I can tell ) but my rib cage has obviously expanded as my trust royce bra which is very comfortable normally has really cut into my skin and its agony!!! Been lying on the sofa trying to get air under my boob - not sure what to put on it to try and soothe it. DH very bemused at the sight.

I do hope that Neenz is getting on ok!!

katyjo · 07/05/2008 22:48

I guess they kept Neenz in then, wow can't believe we'll have some babies soon, or maybe they are already here!

Ive been feeling period type pains too lorettah I keep thinking maybe it means labour will start soon, I'm due in 3 weeks and mw said baby is about 7lbs just now, ds was 81b 1oz and 10 days early so quite happy to have baby soon.

I have never had a good nursing bra, invested in 2 from m&s and they were rubbish! This time I have got a couple of bravado bras and a nursing bra top (was £34) but hoping it will save my tummy flashing, like you systemsaddict I escaped stretchmarks first time round but this time they have hit with a vegence!

splodgesmum · 07/05/2008 23:24

Hi guys, another busy day on the June thread. Just spent the day with a friend with 3 mth old twins - gorgeous but really hard work and I am now totally knackered! Think I over did it too as pelvis is on fire .

gemma, not only am I an old fart but I'm also a teacher so you have no hope in getting away with text speak - promise not to correct anyone's spelling with red pen though!

thanks for all the chat about bras and nursing tops and general mat clothes, I'm off shopping tomorrow and will bear all your tips in mind

I'm sooo hot but reluctant to buy too much mat stuff cos I'll be back in my old clothes by June 23rd (that's June 23rd 2010!!!!)

Well, hoping for a better night's sleep tonight - woke up to find a spider in my bedroom last night and being the world's biggest arachnophobe had to spend half an hour tracking it down and killing it before I could get back to sleep - not easy with SPD I can tell you!

debinaustria · 08/05/2008 06:37

Good morning - I had 8 hours sleep , feel so much better!!

Welcome Lorettah

Glad the exam went OK dq

Hope we hear from Neenz soon

rushing this morning, chat later

xxgemmalou22xx · 08/05/2008 06:42

deb ur lucky i never get more then 4 -5 hours! splodges mum i hope you are not a english teacher haha!

debinaustria · 08/05/2008 07:48

I know Gemma - I feel very lucky to have slept that long! How are you feeling this morning - still as angry or have you calmed down? I'm sorry to tell you that I'm another teacher too!!

splodgesmum · 08/05/2008 08:06

gemma, no I'm a primary school teacher!

I had a pretty good night's sleep last night too - though my idea of a good night is to manage 5 hours which I did! I slept downstairs on a sofa bed which was so much cooler than being upstairs and probably helped.

Busy day shopping today!

sophiewd · 08/05/2008 08:10

Morning all, what another georgeous day, DH taken DD to nursery and I am going to put away all her thick winter woolies and then potter about in the garden.

6 weeks today and it will all be over, getting slight BH but not bad and no other pains so feeling a lot better.

Hope everyone else has a good day.

Upsidedowncake · 08/05/2008 08:11

Good morning everyone

Debs, fantastic eight hours!

Gemma, sorry that you only had 4-5 hours. I hope you're feeling a bit better today.

Welcome, Lorettah.

Can't wait to hear from Neenz

DH and I are off to get our wills sorted this afternoon. It's a bit of a miserable thing to do - who will be DS's and LO's guardian? Who will be our executor? But sensible given that DH is American and the laws are different.

aberdeenhiker · 08/05/2008 08:19

Upsidedowncake - wills are miserable but I felt much better after getting ours done! At least now I don't have to worry about it... and murphy's law, once they're made, nothing should go wrong right?

Today's hit me like a load of bricks - Only 4 weeks to go but we've way too much to do before then and my plan of easing off at work has disintegrated because my staff aren't getting things in on time. So I'll be here at my desk 'till the bitter end nagging them to finish up their tasks. I'm supposed to be a scientist, but honestly feel like in both home and work I'm the mean mummy!

sophiewd · 08/05/2008 09:25

Wills are miserable, but glad they are done. We had originally asked my sister to have the children, but having got increasingly concerned by her lifestyle we have asked brother and SIL who were happy, they already have 3 boys and are in a position to give children a happy and stable upbringing if anything happens. For executor we used brother and accountant

ktpie · 08/05/2008 09:31

I got a couple of Mothercare nursing vests from ebay for a couple of quid, they unclip and flap down, then have a piece of material with a slit in, feel like I could manage to remain fairly covered up in them! Plus could layer them with other clothes. Will see how I get on and let you know.

Right better go and get some work done.

Parofleurmapu · 08/05/2008 10:31

Morning am still here!

Bp fine this morning fingers crossed it stays that way

Glad you slept better debs, i did too. Didnt wake up with aching shoulder and neck whihc is what normally happens.

I havent had any bh either although dont know what they feel like so probably wouldnt know! or would I?

Ktpie just looked on mothercare at nursing vests, they look good but it made me laugh cause if you look at rhs of the screen it suggests completing the look with some very small denim shorts!!!! Yeah right like im gonna get in those!!mothercares post pregnancy look

nettiehay · 08/05/2008 10:32

Morning all,
Had a lovely wake up call at 2 am when DP's back started giving him grief - I was awake anyway, but why does he have to be so noisy when trying to find painkillers? I ended up giving him a backrub for 10 minutes too, so hopefully that will help a little bit... he keeps suffering and not seeing anyone about it, so am starting to get a bit hacked off... we know oodles of physios who would do it for nothing too! grrr
Thanks for all the tips on bras - will keep away from M&S and probably end up in John Lewis... crossing fingers that I can find some nice ones, as I am well and truly sick of my maternity ones!
