App went ok thanks.

Bit confused cos it was a registrar again, and this one asked how come i'm not seeing midwife... er, because i'm coming to the apps i'm told to...
Not being seen again for 5 weeks when i'll be 32 weeks. does that sound ok??
Heard baby's heart, had bp taken, urine ok. got to have my blood glucose thing done on Monday.
NO mention of kick tests etc.
hmm

I've got a tender patch on my right side too miamla.

I've never been weighed either! Had no clue what my weight was when I went for my booking-in appt, and the mw didn't bother to find out...presumably without a starting point there's no point taking further measurements

So I have no idea how much weight I've put on over the last 24 weeks. I still fit in all of my clothes except around the waist, so hopefully not that much.

Glad things are ok albs Hearing the baby's heartbeat never gets boring imo!

poppysocks · 06/05/2008 17:24

No glucose tests here either. In fact, v. little of anything! I was slightly when I saw the midwife a couple of weeks ago and she waved me off saying that she'd see me when the baby's arrived!!! Seems that because I have to go the the hospital for the Anti-D at 28 and 34 weeks and then back there to see the anaesthetist at 38, and as this is a second, unless there's a problem that takes care of it.

sarah - my DD sounds exactly the same as yours. When do you think you're going to have a try? I'm conscious of not wanting to leave it too long so it's too close to a certain other big event, so planning it when we get back from our hols in June.

poppysocks · 06/05/2008 17:27

Oh - just a quick update, in case anyone's interested... Was reminded by the chat about weight...

I mentioned that it turned out that my weight had been noted down 10kg out on my double/triple test thing. They recalculated it with the right weight (which was 10kg higher) and it actually lengthened the odds. Phew! They're now 1 in 4000 odd for Downs, much better than with DD when I was younger (obviously...!)

TwilightSurfer · 06/05/2008 17:55

Okay I'm back...and I did shower earlier so I smell nice and fresh.

LOW my baby is EXTREMELY active. I'm 25+3 today and know for a fact that she rolled over at least once yesterday. The kicking/hitting helps me tell whether she's head down or laying across me. Late yesterday I was able to get her to move back into the head down position...THANKFULLY! I've been sore all over with head or bum poking/pushing things that don't need to be poked/pushed. It hasn't helped that I've been a little constipated....sorry TMI. Big baby + bowels clogged + bladder full + coughing + sneezing = VERY UNCOMFORTABLE ALL OVER!!

ALBS I'd say 5 weeks is a bit long at this point. I've never gone more than 4 weeks between appts. American rules call for appts to be every 2 weeks following 26th/28th week then every week by 34th/36th. Because I'm old special I'm already on the every 2 week schedule thus my appt this Friday. As for what happens: pee, weight, fundal height, & chat. Because I'm old special I've earned another ultrasound at 36 weeks but otherwise the visits are all the same. GLAD ALL WENT WELL WITH YOU APPT TODAY!!!! And yes, June's just as chatty. Lovely group. I'd be 33 weeks now with them.

As for the kick count thing, I still believe 12 hours for 10 kicks is tooooooo lonnnngggg. But that's just me.

Well, off to sunbath for a while. The weather's PERFECT!! Picked up a new magazine at the store so I'll be entertained.

Hope everyone else is enjoying this glorious day!!!

LadyOfWaffle · 06/05/2008 18:11

gin? Yuk! I have drank some coke, but nothing major... I think I'll ring MW when DH gets back . All our MW seem to be taking shortcuts - I was weighed at every app. last time, only weighed at booking in this time, have 9 weeks + between apps. etc. etc. I am glad this isn't baby no.1 or I'd be really panicing! at whoever said they were still in the same clothes - I was like that last time, but this time I am growing out of everything! I am comfortable in maternity tops at the mo. so who knows what I will have to wear at 36 + weeks!

evening all! mad dash to ikea and back this morning while girls were in nursery then spend afternoon snoozing on sofa with dd2 who was up most of night again

sooooooo WHY am I still shattered?!?!?

dh dealing with dinner, well I made them it he is sorting out the battle of eating it after powerhosing the decking whilst I was napping bless him

who was asking about potty training - let them do it themselves. dd1 decided one day nappies were for the baby and that was it. After a couple of previous attempts from me this was a brilliant thing! She is also a huge Dora explorer fan so I bought her some Dora pants and reminded her to go the toilet so Dora wouldn't get wet/ruined - worked a charm!

right will pop off for now as have promised dd1 she can water the plants with me after tea so will have to get wellied up or soaked!

miamla · 06/05/2008 18:45

Our top two boys names are Milo and Theodore.I've just read that Boris Johnson has got two sons..one's Milo and the other's Theodore! how freaky!

Sazzles oh no, your poor DD! Its a good job you phoned DH!

albs glad your appt went well. So do you fancy doing the hospital tour together? moral support and all that!

hmm there's a beautiful smell round here all of a sudden...must be you TS!

I haven't been weighed in ages by MW. In fact think i was only weighed at first appt. We don't have scales at home so no idea what i weigh now!

Oh, and I had every intention of getting cross with MW this morning for her lack of phoning back etc. but you know what, she was so passive and mild that I can't even get cross with her! I'll have to do something about it in writing once baby's here.

very at people wearing same clothes! I've grown out of numerous tops and seem to have to top up on new sizes on a monthly basis!

hee hee and DP has decided we're eating out tonight! I bought everything we needed for a chicken casserole and jacket potatoes tonight but then realised that our casserole pot is all packed. I honestly didn't plan it that way!

dizzydixies · 06/05/2008 18:47

miamla I liked Cassia until I read his daughter was that too not sure now!!

am going through clothes at a rate of noughts too although still cannot get my farking trousers to stay up

well done on the casserole packing btw

alittlebitshy · 06/05/2008 18:50

omg saz poor little dd. men, tch! I often have to say to dh, don;t forget dd will you? and he looks at me like i've grown two heads for suggesting he could forget to collect her. But this is the man who has walked past his wife and daughter in the street before now .

Oh yes, they measured my fundal height today. Said it was good. When i looked at notes it says 28. what does that mean?????? Lord I was pamapered last time (we went private, had my lovely ob, he was v nice and explained everything).....

LOW I'm into coke (of the fizzy drink variety) at the mo. Been of it all pg til now. Think am using it as a method of getting baby to wriggle if it's been 2 minutes a while since I registerd movement. Hope that's not considered child abuse

On the whole this baby is a wriggler - hence why i panicked first thing today when I hadn't felt much.

Weight - pah!!! I weighed myself at the weekend. Not sure what I was expecting, but I nearly fell of the scales in shock. I weigh now - at 27 weeks - the same as i weighed at 42 weeks with dd. Admittedly I started of at 9st that time and was over 10 stone this time, though I think i lost more at the start this time round, but still . Dh assures me i look pg not fat though.

You potty training ladies. Good luck. I left doig dd til she was 3yrs 11 months and although it felt hard at the time, i think it was a doddle. She was basically dry (odd accident notwithstanding) in a week. Poos took another 2-3 months (I threw lots of knickers away ) but once she had each "skill" mastered she never loooked back. We only said goodbye to night nappies 7-8 months ago - so when she was 4yrs 5 months, but again, that was effortless - we've had 3 wet beds in that time i think, which i think is pretty good. I learnt from potty training dd that it is fine to do it at their own pace. Some are ready young, others might be over 3 but it's a lot less stressful if you just wait til they are ready!!!!!!!!!! We did it in an April - a warm April - so it was ok to be outside a bit. In hindsight I was an idiot - I chose Holy week to do it. duh!! I did wonder why dh was a littles less supportive than he might have been of my choice of week, how dare he have his busiest week of the year just wehn I was wringing my hands over wet knickers, and quite probably wringing wet knickers too.

alittlebitshy · 06/05/2008 18:53

crossed posts with miamla and dizzy -

miamla. In theory I'd love to do the hosp tour with you, but we can't this weekend. There's a global day of prayer - at millwall - which we're going to after church....

grr.

TwilightSurfer · 06/05/2008 19:20

Sazzles WE ALL DESERVE special treatment!!!

ALBS...28 means you're measuring at 28 weeks. I'll find the info and post it in a moment. I actually measured a week behind last time but think I made up for it yesterday during what HAD TO BE a growth spurt.

Miamla tis not fresh organic body wash you smell now but wonderful coco oil. Ooo la la.

Hunger brought me back inside!!!

OP posts:
alittlebitshy · 06/05/2008 19:38

That's good re fundal height. Thanks for the info.
Figures that I'm a week (ish) ahead - dd was a big baby, and i reckon this one will be too, so it's all reassuring.

TwilightSurfer · 06/05/2008 19:47

yes reassuring it is ALBS

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 06/05/2008 19:51

albs I know how you feel, I'll probably measure about 44wks at my apt next week lol

Buckets · 06/05/2008 19:58

I've got 26wk appt tomorrow, then anti-d injection at 28wks, then will see MW at 30 and 34wks, then consultant at 36wk to book CSec. Didn't know there'd be a 2nd anti-d Poppysocks, wonder if it'll get done at the cons appt. Will probably see MW at 38wks I guess and of course have to go in for bloods and to get antacids the day before the op.

Haven't been asked for weight except at book-in and glucose test hasn't been mentioned. Nobody's come near me with a tape measure yet either. Think fundal height measuring is fairly subjective hokum anyway so don't let it worry you. How accurate can one MW be with umpteen women between measures, let alone if you see more than one MW?

Hello all
Broadband finally working properly - hooray! I feel like I have completely lost touch with you lot though. What's going on?

Potty training - just don't stress about it. Remember the littleist PF was done in two weeks (wee and poo) a couple of months ago. If you wait until they are really interested and hype up the pants (especially with girls getting knickers with the character they like on them seems to really help) well before you actually start trying them. Boys seem to potty train better if you leave it later from mine and friends experience (like over 3).

I've just about managed to register with a GP here but haven't had an antenatal check up since my last scan. I have to see the GP first even though all I want to do is see the midwife (grr) what is the POINT? I've got my third scan next week... Still keeping my fingers crossed that all is ok. Ds2 is certainly pretty active most of the time except when I get too tired.

Dcs still settling into nursery, I'll be glad to get into a routine again next week. Someone do a round up of news for me please? Dizzy, you must be able to give me all the gossip surely

TwilightSurfer · 06/05/2008 21:13

Hi Petitfilou. Glad you're settling in and back with us.
