I just meant that your Buckfast wouldn't really fit in with our culture in Aberdeen!

Buckets · 28/05/2008 21:00

Cornetto's good Dizzy, no washing up!

Cavey, I was only in for 2 nights with DS (elective) so, fingers crossed all goes well and this one is as robust, same again thanks . With my first I had 3 nights but she was born late the first night and I had a lot to recover from - not the 1940s public school girls' dorm adventures I'd been imagining LOL. Next night was hellish as DD had slept all day and neither she nor I knew how to breastfeed properly - ended up begging them to take her away and feed her, I was so tired and just mortified at keeping the whole room awake! How first-time-mum is that!

Buckets · 28/05/2008 21:03

Hazie, that's not wifey, that's a metrosexual retro print - all the Islington Dads are wearing it .

happyathome · 28/05/2008 21:03

sorry to crash, just wondering if you're around ellasmum?....i've posted a message for you on the ante-natal topic list.

HazieDazieandBaby · 28/05/2008 21:07

Ahh Buckets, I knew DH was missing something! I'll be sure to tell him!

TwilightSurfer · 29/05/2008 03:19

I think my DD is slipping me sleeping pills because I crashed hard twice today. Have just returned (10PM) from a trip to the local TACO BELL (mexican fast food) due to some ungodly need for junk which I'm sure will destroy my insides and have me crying of belly aches by midnight. My only comfort is this thread I found earlier that I can completely relate to.

Speaking of my DD, she has run her mouth all day long. Even whilst I was asleep she sat beside me talking about anything and everything under the sun. She's a talker and the one in the womb is a wiggler.....WHAT ON EARTH WILL LIFE BE LIKE IN 10 WEEKS???????

I'm AFRAID, very very AFRAID!

Hi All

Just a quick catch up before i'm late for work. Finally got our broadband sorted and computer fixed so can get on a bit more oftern.

Has anyone heard from Ladyofwaffle - there was a post from her on the pregnancy boards and it got me a bit concerned for her.

Will catch up properly tonight.

miamla · 29/05/2008 09:59

CC you have to promise us all that if you ever use your mouth as a mixing bowl that you'll take photos and share them with us!

Morning all, I'm feeling surprisingly refreshed this morning. I bet it doesn't last til noon even!

Looks like my mat leave is going to start on june 27 so only four weeks left :s

Oops better go, meant to start work at 10. I'll be back later for a catch up. Hope you all have a lovely day

cyteen · 29/05/2008 10:21

miamla that's my final day at work as well! I'll be doing a sun dance between now and then, hoping to redirect this grim grey weather somewhere else.

miamla · 29/05/2008 11:30

But surely it'd be nicer to save the nice weather for when we're off
I don't know about you but travelling to work on the tube in grim weather is a million times nicer than when its hot

Shazza2002 · 29/05/2008 11:37

Morning ladies.

Was very busy on here last night.

I had my 30 week check up yesterday. All was going well until midwife checked my blood pressure. Was on the high side, plus with the headaches I've had I got sent to the day assesment unit for a couple of hours. Baby was fine, if a little quiet (soon changed it's mind at 12pm last night). Blood pressure finally came down and was sent home.

How can people be on maternity leave already???? That is so unfair

My last day is 11th July, which seems like ages away.

cyteen · 29/05/2008 11:40

Sorry, yes, that's what I meant - the sun dance now is to bring good weather for when we're all on leave. These things take time, you know

Is it normal for HR not to contact you once they've received your MATB1 form? I sent mine over 2 weeks ago and heard nothing since, not sure if I should get in touch...they are a bit rubbish.

Buckets · 29/05/2008 13:35

I finally filled in my Maternity Allowance application last night, just as well as it's my last day this Sunday! Blimey it was complicated and I've got a flippin' degree! Anyone else getting MA instead of SMP or do I earn the least ?

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 14:39

miamla & cyteen I beat you by a week but thats technically when I start my annual leave and go officially onto Matty on 6th July - ours has to start on a Sunday for some reason but hey ho, only 8 more shifts to do AND I have some time on my card so I may well take that too

oops have been checking back on LofW but she hasn't posted since, I can only hope its nothing serious

shazza am glad its come back down, am very lucky with mine as it is never high regardless of how overweight I am - dh slightly baffled as I am the most wound up of the two of us normally! when is your wedding by the way or have I missed that somewhere along the line

so ladies, started making some moves towards accepting the fact I AM pregnant and having a baby dragged dh came into town with me this morning and I bought some stuff for hospital bag - its not even looked out yet never mind packed so don't be getting too excited

new toothbrush & travel toothpaste - I always find everything feels so much better if I have clean teeth
mini shampoo/conditioner/deodorant/shower gel
antibac hand gel & antibac wipes
magicool spray - BRILLIANT stuff!
arnica tablets
matty pads (two packets from boots £1 each)
washable breast pads - my last lot were looking a tad dejected - no wonder
new book - lol as if but any excuse for me!

treated myself to that tingly leg cream from Clarins - £21!?!?? I nearly died but then again I had a £15 voucher so thought why the hell not?!?

want to get a wee hand held fan to go with my magicool - my temp has spiked during both labours & am not wanting paracetamol shoved up my bottom AGAIN - ffs, there's enough going on without having to suffer that indignity too!

am going to use my gym (ha ha ha lol) toiletry bag as it is a plain one with draw string that I can hang in the shower so as not to have to bend down and some cheapy flip flops to wear whilst in the showers

am hoping to not be in for very long BUT seeing as I was in for a week with both the girls I'd better at least be prepared for it so its a bonus if I'm not

I know its not much but its a start at least!

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 14:41

oh and btw, I found myself waddling so thats finally started, my feet are up after this mornings walking AND the belly button has finally given up and is very definately out and proud

cyteen · 29/05/2008 15:40

I am now laughing at a mental image of you in labour, saying to the midwife in glacial Margo-from-The Good Life tones "Would you mind awfully not trying to insert paracetamol into one's rectum?"

Glad to see you're getting ready to pack up your bag, it must be secretly quite exciting. I was in town earlier today and had a similar urge (was going to buy useful stuff like Lansinoh, mat pads, Calpol etc.) but thwarted it as I am still too superstitious despite now being 27 weeks. At this rate I'll be sending DP out with a shopping list after the midwife hands us our baby!

For those keeping a bellybutton chart, mine is definitely approaching outage. There's all this skin that has obviously never seen the light of day, now exposed to the elements...and I can see the long-buried bit of gruft quite clearly

Btw dizzy I totally agree about the clean teeth thing - I can't bear not cleaning them first thing in the morning, and can't get to sleep at night without having clean teeth.

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 16:10

cyteen it only happened the first time but seriously I was at the enough is enough stage

second time I took in magicool and a wee fan but it wasn't AS hot seeing as it was May not july - am not so optimistic this time

the midwives had never heard of magicool before but were well versed after I'd sprayed them all with it whether they wanted it or not seemed like I was helping at the time

have freaked dh out slightly by wanting to be a bit more prepared this time

with dd1 I was due to be on the ward for my induction at 4pm and I only started packing my bag at about 3.30pm

with dd2 I threw a few things in the general direction of a bag about a wk before my due date

hence, he is beginning to freak

cyteen · 29/05/2008 16:10

As an aside, and since this thread seems to be a relatively safe place for poo talk, I must share this interesting factoid with you all: since moving to the new house my constipation has almost entirely resolved itself. I've been every day, and with no blood sweat and tears either. Isn't that bizarre? It can't be because of an improved diet, I've been eating a lot of greasy convenience food due to house looking like a scrapyard, so I can only ascribe it to having been emotionally constipated beforehand.

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 16:12

rofl at conversation - but darling we simply MUST move house as I'm constipated again

one way to work yourself up the property ladder than am pretty sure Sarah Beanie hasn't thought of

CaptainCaveman · 29/05/2008 17:45

LOL cyteen I must remember to recommend that as a constipation cure to some patients one day . However, you're right, stress can make your bowels do odd things.

Whats all this talk of hospital bag packing? You step out of the room for a few hours and someone tries to mention something sensible!! I have no intention of packing my bag until I go on mat leave. Mat leave officially starts on 17th July but my last day at work is 3rd July as I'm then taking 2 weeks annual leave before mat leave. Yippee!! 5 working weeks left (I don't work Fridays), and one of those is only a 3 day week due to an all day ante-natal class next tuesday. Oh and the following week is half a day short too as I have a scan on 12th June!! YAY.

Enough, I'm bloody tired out again and need to lie down.....catch you later x

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 17:47

cc remember I'm two weeks ahead of you with my 3rd dc and potentially going for elective c/s so miniest dixie could be here sometime at end of July rather than Aug [meep][panic][meep]

I've been collecting hospital bag things too. I've no idea what I actually have at this point. I just get something and stash it in the baby clothes thingy in my closet. Maybe I should see what's there??

At the present moment my LO is kicking STOMPING on my pelvic floor.

All your maternity leave talk only makes one thing very clear......WE ARE SO CLOSE TO BIRTHING THESE BABIES!!! OMG

Time to research permanent birth control measures. Time to visit my first La Leche League group leader. Time to tour maternity floor at the hospital and pre-register. So much to do.
