LOL Dizzy. Me and my busy self got DD to swim class 20 minutes late today because for some reason I thought it started at 10:30 instead of 10.....blasted class ends at 10:30. I really need less to keep up with.

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 19:33

dh on late shift

dc in bed, not asleep yet but fingers crossed on their way

I have juice, remote control, kettle chips, lap top AND my new clarins tingly leg cream to apply once am sure dc are asleep

its all rock n' roll in the dixie house tonight

TwilightSurfer · 29/05/2008 20:09

Dizzy do you have room on your couch? I'm pooped!! Have been in the yard with DD. Took a moment and posed for a new bump shot (posted in pics now).

What is the actual name of this Clarins tingle stuff? I've looked for it but can't find it here. It might help if I ask the Clarins counter clerk...but that would be too easy, right.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 20:13

tis a lovely big corner couch so pop on my love, room for us both to lounge!!

its called Energizing Emulsion to Soothe Tired Legs

I went up to Clarins lady and said, I need some tingly leg cream please and she laughed and just said this is it, its meant mainly for pregnant ladies but I use it myself

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 20:14

TS am always so envious of your lovely baby bump, mine is soooo lardy and covered in stretch marks from the other two

pertelote · 29/05/2008 20:15

Evening all. Very impressed by the organisation being shown around here! I started NCT classes this week and that prodded me into finding out about hospital tours: what I found out was that they are full... very full... 100% oversubscribed until September sort of full. Now I'm a bit panicked about the ward being completely unfamiliar as well as the whole labour business! Maybe I am over-emphasising something trivial to distract myself from the really scary part?! Perhaps next time I'm at antenatal clinic I'll see if I can at least find my way to the Midwife Unit!

TwilightSurfer · 29/05/2008 20:16

Thanks Dizzy. I'm a little proud of it too. Since it will be my last I'm trying to enjoy it as much as possible. The girls will enjoy the photos when they are older...when it's their turn.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 20:17

pertelote can you not speak to you community midwife and see if she can pull some strings?

tbh I found the hosp tour a bit of a nothing, you didn't get to see anything of any help and frankly by the time you're actually in there doing the deed you couldn't care less - don't break your heart over it

JamInMyWellies · 29/05/2008 20:28

Hi everyone, just popping in to say hello I was on the thread months ago but had to drop out, mc. But just thought I would poke my head in and wish you all luck for the last 3mth. And to let you all know am up the duff again due in Dec.

Good luck ladies.

TwilightSurfer · 29/05/2008 20:29

Congrats JamInMyWellies!! Best wishes to you as well.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 20:30

oohh jam thats lovely - all the very best of luck for you this time

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 20:59

OMG TS you have to get the tingly cream - its heaven

TwilightSurfer · 29/05/2008 21:04

I'll bite the bullet and talk to one of the counter clerks about it. Right now I'm reading about breast feeding....sorta turned off by the process now, honestly. Seems like a lot of work.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 21:09

I really enjoyed it with dd1 but not so much with dd2, will try again this time and take some more advice although am a bit worried how am going to juggle feeding with dd2 being as demanding and dd1 starting school

TwilightSurfer · 29/05/2008 21:12

Yes the "juggling" thing is what I'm worried about too. I'm pretty good at multi-tasking but that's with my boobs in my shirt, not out.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 21:17

my norks are too big for a sling to be effective with the breast feeding issue - is your dh getting some time off when you have the wee one?

miamla · 29/05/2008 21:58

Evening all, I've been pram/pushchair shopping and got the m&p luna in green that I was after I told my lovely mummy and she's said that she'd like to pay for it!
A gorgeous blanket accidentally got bought as well!
I'm so tired tonight,v close to crying. I'm going to stop writing now before I drag you all down with me. Night all

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 22:19

night miamla

TS you have to get that clarins stuff - tis LOVELY

night all

cyteen · 29/05/2008 22:37

Have a good kip miamla

Jam, sorry to hear about the mc but very happy to hear that you're expecting again. December is the best month for birthdays anyway Wishing you a stress-free pregnancy and birth, and a lovely jolly Christmas baby

My little boy has been KICKING LIKE FURY this evening My whole stomach has been wobbling and leaping from side to side. He must like steak.

What is everyone doing about godparents/oddparents, if anything? I was just randomly thinking about it today - we're not religious but I do like the notion of having honorary parents in a child's life. Of course the next question is who to ask...

longwayfromhome · 29/05/2008 22:37

Evening all. TS - lovely photos (bump & 3D baby). JamInMyWellies - lovely news.

I wonder if I could find some tingly leg cream here (note to self ask DH what the translation would be!)

Lentil lasagne last night in the LWFH household. I think that we will eat ravioli tonight. Am not feeling very creative.

Really tired here too. Yawn.

HazieDazieandBaby · 29/05/2008 22:45

With all dizzy's talk of labour bags, I remembered about these fans that I saw in B&Q a while ago and wondered if you thought they would be any good for trying to keep cool in labour?

I was in town a while ago and spied a good sized bag in Primark for about £3 or £4 that would have been ideal as a hospital bag (and cheap enough to get one each for me and bubs) but I thought it was a bit early at the time. What happened today when I decided to go and get one? They had none left!! I may pop into McArthur Glen on Saturday after the scan and see if I can get any bargains there. I did get a toiletry bag though! Go me!

A question for the girls who have little ones already... How do I go about estimating how many nappies I'll need for the first few months so that I can just pop them in with the shopping just now? I have around 400 size 2 (6lb - 13lb) and just over 100 size 3 (erm, next ones up!) at the moment, but am running out of room, so need to know when to stop!!

longwayfromhome · 29/05/2008 22:46

Oooh cyteen, nice post. Godparents are great. A really important decision.

My godfather did the prayers at our wedding, and my godmother still sends me unsolicited advice (she tells me that as she is my godmother she is allowed to do this).

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 22:50

400 100

Hazie - behave yourself, thats plenty! I have two packets of size 2 and thats all I've bought for baby!

fan looks fine but am not sure I'd fancy the water being sprayed on me, the magicool is dry somehow?!?

cyteen dd1 has my bestfriend and my brother as her godparents

dd2 has my cousin and a very good male friend of ours as hers

for this one we want to follow the friend and family member again for continuity and luckily we know enough lovely people to choose from

right I REALLY am going to bed now

longwayfromhome · 29/05/2008 22:51

Aaarghh. Hazie, we have only bought 60 cheap up to 6kg ones to see if they work, or if we will need more expensive ones. But I will await replies with much interest.

Also replies from people with advice about real nappies too - my mum will be visiting in September and so could bring things with her if there are some good UK suggestions!

(NB we have a washing machine with a good spin, but dry our clothes inside - no outside space an no tumble dryer)

HazieDazieandBaby · 29/05/2008 23:03

Sorry, didn't mean to freak you all out!

I'll stop with the nappy buying now! Someone told me their baby needed changed 8 times a day and they couldn't really leave the house for long periods as they were breastfeeding so much, so I went panic buying in case I can't leave the house either! The 8 times a day story really put me off reusables too as I'm crap at keeping up with the washing at the best of times and even thought there's a collection service, I didn't fancy the idea of having to keep them here until they were picked up.

I see what you mean about the fan dizzy, I didn't realise your stuff was a dry spray. Think I'd prefer that too. Oh, and I like the winking camel in the ad for it!
