Hello all
Sarah Good luck with the scan this afternoon. I've been having BH's for ages (probably since about 20 weeks!) so I wouldn't worry about it. I'm going for the idea that it'll be a fast birth so it is all good preparation for the uterus. Not at all prepared for any complications on the other hand!
I hope everyone is ok. I am exhausted and trying to feel enthusiastic about tidying/sorting things out in the house while the dcs have their one day at nursery this week. But have zero energy....

dizzydixies · 27/05/2008 14:53

sarahnh wishing you best of luck with your scan

am same as petit and having BH for ages, not painful in any way just all of a sudden rock hard and tight right down - didn't have them at all with dd1 and only started getting them with dd2 when I was 38wks so am also hoping the same for speedy delivery

am absolutely shattered today too, have done very little today, managed to get a few things in tescos - didn't need a big shop thank goodness and go to the bank and post a letter. put on a load of washing and will empty the dishwasher at some point and as far as I'm concerned am all done after that!!

oh, going to attempt to make beef stroganoff for tea for me and dh - kids have corn on the cob and baked potatoes - easy peasy - it may go well, it may go horribly wrong but at least I'll have tried

Hi dizzy
Glad I am not the only one feeling like that! I can't believe I still have three months to go. I bought ds2 a grobag swaddling blanket (never actually tried swaddling the last two times!), a bath support thing (one we had was never that good), and a skip hop changing mat/nappy carrier thing today so have enjoyed shopping though. I am still coveting the bamboo blanket I found in the nursery shop today though, felt like silk. But dh is going to kill me for buying those things anyway so I thought I better stop before I spent too much

Shazza2002 · 27/05/2008 17:17

Afternoon ladies

Was in Weymouth fr weekend. Lovely weather Saturday and Sunday, but driving home yesterday, or should I say crawling in traffic in torrential rain was terrible.

Hope everybody is ok.

Hope TS has had a good scan with a well behaved baby. Hope sarahns baby is now growing as quick as my backside is

VintageGardenia · 27/05/2008 17:18

Hi everybody, hope scan news is good all round - how did they go, sarah and TS and anyone else who was having one? Am not up to date I'm afraid.

How is everyong doing?

I am vv tired at mo keep falling asleep when life pauses for a second, it's just the way I was in the very early days. What's going on, ladies? Aren't I meant to be getting a great burst of energy just around now??

The other thing happening is my heart suddenly starts pounding and I get breathless - ick. No Braxton Hicks etc, nothing like that, still doing yoga & loving it.

CC tis fab to have you back! We missed you. Sounds like you had an amazing time, lucky ducks.

dizzy you have given me a YEARNING for a baked potato, with a really tough skin that I can slather with butter... pop one in the oven for me when you're doing the dds will you??

cyteen · 27/05/2008 18:09

Hello all, good to hear everybody's news. Hoping all scans have been peachy today

VG I'm knackered as well just now, I feel so pathetic. DP has been working so hard moving all of our stuff in and sorting out the old house, driving around, putting up furniture; meanwhile I can't walk 50 yards without needing a sit down. Think my baby is tired too, he seems quite inactive during the day...am trying not to worry though as he always lets me know he's there at some point. Last night it was when I went to bed - within minutes he was kicking away like a good'un, making DP laugh as he had his arm over my belly and could feel it

dizzy glad to see you're still the pram queen! We still haven't started looking into it yet, need to get on it really as DP's folks seem to be very keen to buy us the pram of our dreams. I may be back later with questions...

It's been a busy few days here: we had our weekend of antenatal classes this weekend, and they were BRILLIANT! I'm so glad I booked them, both of us really enjoyed ourselves. The teacher was fab and everyone there is lovely. DP said he got loads out of it, which I'm very pleased about, and a lot of things that seemed confusing are less so now - just having someone knowledgeable and calm to talk things through with has made such a difference. I got to try out a birth ball (am buying one now, they're so comfy) and we all cooed over the cloth nappies. I think I'm in love with Totsbots bamboo nappies. The colours! The cuteness! So tiny! (Remind me I said this when I'm back here talking about how repulsive my baby's poo is )

Spent most of yesterday dragging yet more shit essential belongings back from the old house, then hurriedly cramming for my driving theory test...which I passed this morning with flying colours! Bit of a shock really, I was fully prepared to fail but got a great score and now feel v positive about taking my practical test.

sarahnh · 27/05/2008 18:12

hey everyone,

thanks for your messages i am so pleased to say that lo is fine!!!

Apparently she is lying hip to hip ( well i could of told them that, the agony i have been in with them!)and that is why she was measuring small.

She measured bang on for my dates 29 weeks and is weighs 3lbs!!!(which kind of sounds like a lot to me!!)

Docs has signed me back to midwife care which is cool - only thing he did say was that lo better move before 36 weeks or else i was in trouble!!! My hopefully i won't even have to entertain that fact as lo is a wriggler!!!

VintageGardenia · 27/05/2008 18:49

Great news sarah on the scan! 3lb does sound like a (gasp) REAL BABY, doesn't it? Not just a tiny bud growing inside you, but a proper small person sized one. Good for you.

cyteen well done on the theory test! Yay for you. All coming together for you now, with the new house, the new baby, command of a car! Well done xxx.

Now ladies I have a question.

You know the way sometimes during pregnancy you can hardly stand your DP / DH to be even in the same HOUSE as you, let alone asking you what's for dinner or telling you you can't watch the Apprentice because some shite a serious programme is on at the same time? Then other times you are overcome with joy that he is there and sob quietly at the thought of the baby you will share together, and the bliss of your lovely lives together.

Well this afternoon at this minute I am in the second phase, and thinking about the birth and so on I was imagining what it would be like for him to have to leave the hospital after the baby is born, leaving the baby (and me of course) there. I mean wouldn't it be such a wrench? So I thought I would give him a song on a CD to put on in the car on the way home (tear jerker obv). If the baby is a girl I'll give him Paul Simon - Father & Daughter, but if it's a boy, does anyone know any dead soppy son songs?

CaptainCaveman · 27/05/2008 19:34

Great scan news Sarahnh - wow 3lb seems like a real baby!!

Hoping to hear from you soon TS

Thanks dizzy me dear - I hadn't considered getting the package with a car seat then flogging the seat. Grand idea. The cheapest I'd got it with the pram, footmuff and carrycot was £450, and I think that was on the link you gave me anyway. will go and scout on ebay to see how much people are paying for new unused car seats.....

AM knackered after return to work - you don't realise how much it takes out of you until you're not there! Got ante-natal class booked for a full day next tuesday - should be fun. I didn't pay too much attention last time (ie. over 4 years ago) as I knew ds was breech and unlikely to move (was 37 weeks at that point). EEEEK, I may have to push this one out....the reality of that hasn't sunk in yet, although it seems like a good idea!!

CaptainCaveman · 27/05/2008 19:48

Congrats too cyteen on passing your theory test! Good luck with your practical - do you have a date yet?

Found a place that does an offer on what I want! here

longwayfromhome · 27/05/2008 20:34

VG - "it's raining men" for a boy? Or ALBS - if it's a boy you could have "son of a preacher man"? Sorry can't think of anything sensible or soppy, but will post again if inspiration strikes.

Oh, lots more ideas. Silent night from a CD of carols? Bjork "it's oh so quiet" ...

How about "pave paradise, put up a parking lot" for those of you booked at central London hospitals

Ooooh .... what about "Daddy Cool" by Boney M?

longwayfromhome · 27/05/2008 20:36

PS many apologies if these songs actually have highly inappropriate lyrics that I haven't realised.

CaptainCaveman · 27/05/2008 20:45

One of the most beautiful songs I know was written by Hue & Cry (remember them!?) and it's called She Makes a Sound. It was written after the birth of one of their daughters - equally it applies to boys but it gives me goosebumps when I play it and think about ds!

Also "born free" (? Matt Monroe) is lovely - this was playing on the radio on the morning we drove to hospital to have my cs! Always reminds us of ds now.
Sorry, not quite what you were asking for! Will go away and think....

VintageGardenia · 27/05/2008 21:17

Ah, thanks for suggestions .

I've just sampled Born Free and She Makes a Sound on the iTunes store! They are both gorgeous, you know I didn't really need much prodding into the weeps!

I love Silent Night and it's a good tear jerker but would be worried, as if I were comparing self to the Madonna!

VintageGardenia · 27/05/2008 21:18

Son of a preacher man is one of my favourite singalong car songs (to DS's disgust, as I warble along tunelessly but with GREAT passion!)

cyteen · 27/05/2008 21:22

A great song about kids is In Metal by Low. It's really beautiful and simple.

TwilightSurfer · 27/05/2008 21:31

3D ULTRASOUND PICS IN PROFILE

Just had to make the announcement. Now I'll go catch up with today's chatter...

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 27/05/2008 21:53

Okay I'm crap with songs but isn't there a Stevie Wonder song that goes like, Isn't she lovely? That seems very fitting if it's a girl. And there's an Ozzy/Black Sabbath song fitting for a boy but I'm having pregnancy brain at the moment.

MINE is definitely a GIRL!! That was the first thing I made the tech check. Saw all the girl stuff in 3D. NO QUESTIONS NOW! Whew!!

She is EXTREMELY ACTIVE, almost comically. She is BREECH now but neither the doc nor the tech seemed concerned. Both said there's plenty of time for her to turn head down. All is PERFECT date wise and measurement wise. She's just a happy, healthy baby practicing her kickboxing in her mommy's belly.

Add my name to the zero energy list. Actually that's why I'm posting so late. I was so wiped out after the scan and taking DD to CHUCK-E-CHEESE (by myself) that I went straight to bed as soon as I got back to the house. FORTUNATELY, DD was tired too and sleep with me.

Add my name also to the VERY STRONG BH club. Mine have also been going on since probably week 16. I'm pretty sure now there are strongest on the days my belly expands. AND when I'm overly tired/stressed. I've gotten use to them and feel they're only helping prepare me for the push. Only had to push for 20 minutes with DD last time. Feel like it will be a 5 minute, 2 contraction bit this time.

Again I'm very sorry for not posting sooner. Thanks for all the positive vibes...I felt them!!!

I love the fact that I've been away for about a month and I come on and TS and Dizzy are here. Made me smile

Twilight, those 3D scans are simply wonderful. Really fascinating, you must be looking at them over and over and over.

I need an emergency update. I've read up a bit, Dizzy's cousin's wedding, Miamla's scare, but could do with a quick summary on the other stuff.

Me? Well, I've been 'away' because my last few weeks of work were hectic and now I'm on maternity leave I can't get near the laptop.

I'm feeling well, crippling BH for about 5/10 minutes every morning. DS: 'Mummy why are you making that face?', getting bigger, waddling, skin's cleared up, hair's got thicker, off to Corfu on holiday in a few weeks, got to get a doctor's letter so I'm allowed to fly (!), loving spending the days with my DS instead of going to work, although spending too much time cleaning and doing laundry, wishing the sun would shine more...

Hope you're all well x

TwilightSurfer · 27/05/2008 22:35

Libby dear so nice to see you. Yes I'm sitting here looking at the pictures from every angle. Will be watching the DVD shortly. I'm crap with updates. Sazzles has been doing them but she's in France so maybe Dizzy can recall some of the details. You know I just noticed, after reading your post, my skins cleared up nicely too. I guess if I had time to look in the mirror I'd have noticed that sooner.
