Poppaea / Poppy I think really really pretty. She (original P.) was married to Nero, I think?

preg1 completely agree re. people so rudely making negative remarks, it's so thoughtless and unnecessary.

I am glad to hear you're all sobbing your eyes out too (though obv. at same time wishing you weren't!) and pregnancy1 that is just horrible about your experience on the Tube but it must be trying / claustrophobic / squashed at the best of times, I'm surprised you've not ended up with the weeps before now.

Ironing ... wtf?

pf hope you had a lovely birthday! First of many happy ones in your new home

oopsacoconut · 21/05/2008 22:05

Okay everyone - stop the ironing!!!!!! it's not good for anyone esp. me with DH's shirts piling up.

VG - Yes you are correct she was the second wife of Nero

PF happy belated Birthday.

Pregnancy1 feel for you having to go on the tube every day so glad I don't have to do that any more.

Ironing duvets - no chance - can't even sleep under ours any more as I'm too hot.

Good news it is finally raining here so the temperature has droppen from 36 to 28 and the feet are a little less elephant like

Burst into tears last night as DH made me make dinner and all I wanted to do was sit with feet up as they were huge and kitchen doesn't have aircon so I was sweating buckets - he still didn't take over

TS and any other cat owners - wanted to ask how our furry friends cope with a new arrival to the family - would be grateful for any advice from you lovely ladies. They are indoor cats so can't just move out for a few months till things settle down....!

Sorry for the long post!

sarahnh · 22/05/2008 07:19

Morning ladies,

Serious rant this morning. DD has given up her daytime nap and was in bed for 6.30pm which was great but then woke up at 6.15am full of the joys of spring arghhh...

On a worse front DH went out last night to watch the footie, promised he would sleep in the spare room.. came into our room at 2.30am- asked what he was doing said he was cold, proceeded to snore til 4.00am where he got kicked out again and i only managed an hour ( due to achy hips and feeling cross) before her ladyship's singing woke me up!!!! So double arghhhhhh

Now my hips are still absolutely killing me.. does anyone have any remedies or is it just something we have to put up with?

Also when i was awake through the night i was really hungry...are we suspose to be eating more or am i just a greedy pig ?

pregnancy1 · 22/05/2008 08:47

Morning,

I have no idea how you girls/ladies (?!) manage being pregnant with young children. I'm just about dealing with me!

Got an email saying that my curtain fabric is arriving tomorrow. V excited :-)

sarah have you tried sleeping with a pillow between your legs? Not sure if it will help, but can't think of anything else.
I go through random phases of being starving when I wake up (esp annoying at 3am when you are so hungry you can't sleep). I know we are supposed to be eating more, but not sure there is a logical reason to why it hits in in the middle of the night .

SKYTVADDICT · 22/05/2008 09:41

We have had an interesting week! On Monday had 28 week midwife appointment and was measuring 33 weeks - lovely midwife said sorry but I had to go and see a consultant at the next available appointment (current regulations) - had an appointment Tuesday - DP took the day off and it was a waste of time - we saw a midwife and consultant who both said we now need a scan but that hospital didn't have any slots this week so DP has also took yesterday off and we had another appointment at a different hospital.
Had a scan and baby larger than average but still on scale on 97th centile so no further action! A wasted two days.

We told sonographer we didn't want to know what it was and I am not sure if it was a slip of the tongue but about 5 mins into the scan she said "I am just going to measure HER head" then revereted to calling it "baby".

Feeling really tired but going to Liverpool for the weekend - not sure if I can be bothered !!

Shazza2002 · 22/05/2008 10:23

Morning ladies

Must be tube rant week. I had a rant this morning. I always try to stand near doors (if I haven't got a seat) as hate feeling closed in on a normal day, without being pregnant and hot. Some rude woman asked very nastily "Can't you just move in there?" into some tiny gap that wouldn't have been big enough for me before I was pregnant. So I said quite loudly "No, because when I try to get off nobody will want to move out of the way!". It felt like the whole carriage was staring at me. I'm not normally rude to people but that woman started it .

Hunger - That's kicked in this week, I have moments where it feels like there's something inside trying to eat what's left of breakfast/lunch/dinner. I suppose there is really

Hope everybody else is ok

Shazza2002 · 22/05/2008 10:25

skytvaddict - I'm very at you having another scan. Especially as it all turned out to be ok. It seems most on here who are measuring big for their dates are having extra scans. Is that the norm now? I know I will be measuring big cause I was a fat cow before I was PG

SKYTVADDICT · 22/05/2008 10:46

Extra scans seem normal Shazza - its just a pain we had to travel further for ours as local hospital dates full this week!

Shazza2002 · 22/05/2008 10:56

I knew there must be some advantage to having carried around these extra few inches for all these years

cyteen · 22/05/2008 11:18

Go Shazza! I think you do need to fight your corner on London transport, although having said that when I was last in town I was immediately offered seats by nice kind men. I wasn't travelling in rush hour though, and I know that makes a difference - it used to make my hair stand on end how callous people are then, especially in the rush to get home. I saw a massive beefy suit knock a frail old man flying on Charing Cross concourse once, and the suit didn't even notice him.

Skytv, am also quite of your extra scan. Very glad that everything is okay with you and the baby

Had some lovely news last night, which is that a friend has had her 13 week scan and the baby is fine. Am so pleased for her as she's had miscarriages in the past, so we're all hoping this is one that sticks

TwilightSurfer · 22/05/2008 12:12

Expectant, when pregnant with DD I had three cats living in the house. Two months after she was born two were kicked out. My eldest cat is declawed and that's the only thing that saved her from a life out of doors. Mind you they don't spend every minute outside as I bring them into the garage each night. We have coyotes and other wild things that would eat them otherwise. It was really hard on me to move them from inside to outside but I just couldn't keep cleaning up cat hair and accidents (although few) with a newborn and post-pregnancy insanity. We didn't have any conflicts with them not liking DD but one of my cats really really wanted to sleep in the playpen when DD wasn't in it.

Sarah, I slept on the sofa last night in the seated position due to aches and pains. Finding a way to combat the pain is a crap shoot, honestly.

SKY, don't read anything into what the sonographer said. Gender references are common and are often said without knowledge of the true sex.....especially at the beginning of the scan. It's hard to refer to the baby as an it so they randomly use he or she which gives it HUMAN quality. They have to really STOP and LOOK at the bottom area of the baby to really KNOW what it is. If you were they for general checks then they wouldn't have gone there unless you asked them too.

Heheh think the next thread title should be something to do with sobbing fits .

I've done something rebellious today! Went for my first anti-d injection and discovered that it was in fact optional, only introduced in the last 3yrs (which is why I couldn't remember having them before) and the point of it is to protect your next baby. Well, DH is having the snip by the end of the year and my bloods from a fortnight ago were fine, MW said the chances of spontaneously developing antibodies at this stage were very rare and TBH this particular clinic is a PITA to get to! So have decided to stick to the same care I had with my other babies, ie bloods taken at regular MW appts instead. Feel like a real lentil-weaving anti-vaccs Mumsnetter now .

Thanks for that TS and Pregnancy1... I have posted on the pregnancy thread to see if anyone else can come up with some remedies...

I am in absolute agony, nothing is comfy either, sitting, standing , lying... driving me mad!!!

I hope it sorts itself out soon because i cannot put up with this for another 11 and 1/2 weeks!!!!!!

pregnancy1 · 22/05/2008 14:28

Pants. Just got my bloods back and they've prescribed me iron tablets.... TMI I know, but I've just started pain-free daily poos for the first time in about 3 months (as I eat wholewheat everything and about 5 portions of fruit a day, nevermind veg). Am seeing my midwife on Tues - what are my chances of persuading her that I don't need them..... or am I worrying for nothing & will continue to poo regularly despite the tablets?

cyteen · 22/05/2008 14:49

I have bumped the thread for you Maybe you could try Floradix? Not sure if it would meet doseage requirements though...

So what's everyone craving at the moment? I seem to have gone mad for antisocial breath-dirtying stuff like red onion and pickled chillis in sandwiches Also went through a brief passionate infatuation with pink grapefruit, after not eating one for years...

pregnancy1 · 22/05/2008 15:13

Thanks! I've just put it on the main section too.
I've lost most of my cravings now - was craving lots of citrus fruit nad was blending them into juices every day, but they now give me indigestion! Am eating lots of salads, but suspect that is more to do with the weather. Oh, I have never had a sweet tooth (could go for weeks without eating chocolate or puddings), but now I have some green & blacks dark chocolate after every meal (and have the odd cookie/brownie etc during the day). Does that count?

I'm feeling shattered now (blooming leg cramps and werid dreams last night), but am off to the cinema. Hmm, am thinking warm dark room not an ideal place to stay awake. Must get friend on nudging duty!

Evening all.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel the size of a whale. I am sure I am much bigger this time around and really cant see how I can keep going for another 14 weeks.

Saw MW last week who thinks that I have irritable uterus ? as keep getting loads of tightenings. Wonder if this means I will not go the distance.
