Buckets- your mum's book looks great, i love crime with a bit of romance, i think i may just have to buy it!!

Now does any have achy hips? if so what is causing it? my hips are so achy i feel like an old woman!!!

Also is anyone thing of trying hypno birthing? i have bought the book but struggling to read through it. I contacted a hb in my area and initally she seemed really nice but now saying that i would only need one session if that and i could do it all myself???? xxx

Shazza2002 · 21/05/2008 10:31

Morning all.

Very achy hips here too, and like underneath and groin area. Plus I have a serious waddle. But MW said it's good to waddle as it evens out the weight Weight, what weight?

Buckets · 21/05/2008 10:44

Yes, my whole pelvis is starting to complain and my hipjoints feel worst when I'm very tired.
Ooh I got a wedding outfit from M&S on Saturday - not even maternitywear woohoo! It's a longer length bias-cut skirt 2 sizes too big so it sits on the top of the bump and still reaches my ankles. Plus a crisscrossy t-shirt that seems quite breastfeedable too. Need a teal or dark purple hat and handbag now to smarten it up (wedding is at a zoo so there'll be much pottering about in the sunshine.)
Sarahnh - one session sounds like a worthwhile punt, do it if you can afford it (or get a grandparent to pay for it).

Buckets · 21/05/2008 11:04

In fact, there's a natal hypno cd for sale on Mumsnet

TwilightSurfer · 21/05/2008 12:03

Secretarial duties complete. Will post update in a minute.

Happy Birthday Petitfilou!! Oh to be 36 again.

Wedding rings....I've been taking mine off at night. By morning it doesn't feel as tight. In my 3rd tri with DD I had to where it on a chain. I don't wear a lot of jewelry but when it's not on my finger I feel naked.

Achey hips...{{{twilight raises both hands}}} I know my hip/pelvis pain issues are due to the baby moving in and out of the transverse position. I'll find out next Tuesday what exactly is causing the worst of the pain with my left hip. I think it might be her head.

Crying spells....I'm going through them too but I'm taking meds for my allergies so I just figured that was the cause. I HATE MEDICINE!!

DD and I are watching birth videos daily. [House of Babies on TLC] They aren't too graphic but it's funny to hear DD ask for the show, "mommy can we watch the show where the baby comes out down there in the bathtub?" I guess she's embracing it all as none of it seems to scare her. Maybe she'll be a midwife someday.

Dreams....I've started having crazy dreams too. They are similar to the ones I had with DD. They are all about taking care of my cats. In last nights dream my three boy cats were attacked by another wild cat and all cut up needing bandages. I was tending to them and fending off the wild cat at the same time. I'm sure there's meaning in there somewhere.

Today is DD's offical last full day of school. They are having a big party. On Friday they do a school performance but she's not a performer so we'll probably skip that. Must go make pancakes as the diva is now awake......

Sorry I did a short random post yeserday and never came back. Dh was just coming in and we were off to order carpet for the baby's room!!!

Re swollen fingers. So far this time my wedding ring has stayed put - it came off towards the end with dd, so am expecting that a bit earlier this time bearing in mind the season. I think it went back on a few days after she was born. My engagement ring had to come off last week when it was really hot, but it's back on aagin now.....

Crying spells. Gosh yes.

Exhaustion - check.

Achey hips - yup.

Waddle - yup.

Any purchases for the baby - yes finally!!!! As I said, I ordered the pram yesterday (my lovely mum and dad paid even though they paid for the last one which we have lost); also hit Oxford street on Monday and got pack of sleepsuits and pack of bodysuits (went with up to 1 month size, cos I am assuming another big baby -and we had to take most of the newborn stuff back for dd. If baby is smaller, i have a bit and can send dh shopping), got Lansinoh for the old nips; nipple shields so I am prepared - last time we had to have a mammoth hunt so wanted some on hand, although I'd prefer not to use; muslins (dd still cuddles hers at night so baby gets new ones). In our house they are not in fact called muslins but googies . I used to call them blankie due to dd's cuddling of them, and when she started talking that got translated as googie, which is what we always call them! Also got one 1 tog grobag (have all the other sizes but lent the small ones to same people we lent carrycot to and never saw them again (items not friends)) and one of those new miracle swaddling blankets. Dd loved being swaddled when tiny so am assuming the same technique will work again. And a few other little bits. Still need car seat, nappies, sling.... er.... prob more.

Anyone else getting knackered by doing simple tasks? I hang just one load of washing out on the line this morn and was exhausted afterwards.

Am glad to see twilight had her delivery .

Oh - this eve i'm going to see the take that musical. lol. A friend is a theatre critic and has 2 tickets and thought of me to acompany her. Will let you know my thoughts. Seeing Joseph on Monday - yeah!!!!!!!!! oh and Boyzone next fri... all my outings seem to have come at once!

Speaking of msuicals - some mums at shcool were telling me that the (not yet cast let alone started) tickets for Oliver are sold out til NEXT SUMMER. Is that crazy or what???

Sorry about the me me me ness of this. Brain not functioning well enough to think.

Hello all!

Have finally located the phone point in our house and discovered that our broadband is actually working - yay/erk (am supposed to be studying the Highway Code right now ), so I can catch up properly.

Still emotionally labile, as I believe the medics like to say; I burst into tears this morning when DP wanged his head on the roof beams as he was getting out of bed (it was horrible though), and then I saw a horrid story on local news about some wankers who killed a baby swan by throwing rocks at it What is wrong with people? I loathe stuff like that, how can they gain pleasure from hurting a defenceless animal? Anyway. am getting myself worked up again so will try not to think about it. (((cygnet)))

I've most noticed achey hips at night, as I sleep on my side and the last week or so my hips have been complaining. During the day it's my ankles that hurt the most .

petitfilou - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

sarahnh · 21/05/2008 15:09

GGGRRRR at you SazzlesA for having an energy spurt!!!!

I am so tired and these achy hips are going from bad to worse, i can barely move all of a sudden. I hope this is just a temporary thing. DH is going on a jollie boys next week for 5 days so although i do everything for DD i don't know how i am going to cope!!!

Happy birthday PF!!!! My birthday's not til July and am seriously considering forgetting about it as i will be too fat and frumpy to do anything!!!!!!xxx

TwilightSurfer · 21/05/2008 18:56

Well ladies today was DDs end of year class party and AGAIN I was the only parent there to set up for the party. Hopefully next school year there will be more parental involvement where parties are concerned.

Took DD for a summer haircut. She now sports a cute bob. My hairstylist can't fit my cut and color in for a few more weeks so I'll guess I'll just look ratty going to the swimming pool for a while.

at Sazzles energy spurt too. Between pregnancy tiredness and antihistamine drugginess I'm a disaster lately. I'm in desperate need of eye-lid props so I at least "look" like I'm awake.

Sunny out so I should go get my sun therapy....

Sazzles, what is this energy of which you speak?

I am supposed to be studying for my driving theory test next week...but it's so BORING Honestly, I'm all for the Highway Code, yay for safety and practical rules and that, but it's very hard to actually concentrate on the thing.

Plus I think I am having preggy nausea at last - all this week anything I eat has been making me feel sick, and the acid indigestion is not fun either. Baby is still quiet (although moving) - maybe he's feeling ashamed of himself for making me feel bad

PetitFilou1 · 21/05/2008 19:46

Cyteen Thanks for the fireworks etc bit dangerous though as I might try to eat the fireworks and light the cake at the moment Turned up at the dentist today (seeing as its free while you're pregnant) and was told I was supposed to come last week. They saw me anyway though -fortunately.

VG I burst into tears when I'm knackered - which is about to be soon as dh has been away since Monday and is working all weekend too. Ds2 weighs about 2lb according to my last scan so I'm dreading how I'm going to feel in a month or so when he's a bit heavier. I already feel like I am carrying a bowling ball on my front...

Sazzles went to the Cotswold Wildlife Park last weekend - I was totally exhausted after that. But I am for doing something at some point! Am wondering about Farmer Gow's farm or whatever it is called this weekend.

PetitFilou1 · 21/05/2008 19:47

Oh Cyteen btw have you tried the CD rom for your driving test - very helpful. If you go through one of those a couple of times you'll pass easily. But yes v boring I know.

Buckets · 21/05/2008 20:07

Cyteen, try making your own flashcards for the facts you find hardest to remember eg stopping distances? Stick them up next to the loo, the kettle - anywhere you go a lot. (PS they don't have to be fabulous meticulously printed things, a felt tip pen and some old envelopes will do.)
DS(3) seems to be stopping his afternoon naps which have had the magical effect of him being properly asleep by 7.30. However, today he put himself down in his sleeping bag for a nap (I nearly pooed my pants searching the house for him when I realised how quiet it was!) so right now keeps scampering up and down the landing behind me with the sneaking subtlety of a baby elephant.

dizzydixies · 21/05/2008 20:47

evening all just a quickie from me as girls not sleeping nicely and have a stack of ironing that would be more suited to a family of 12

all fine in house of dixie, bored at work, dh on shitey shifts, girls testing my patience and the climbing frame has turned up - needless to say I doubt if its going to be built by fri as dh is lazy sod off late shift and sleeps in the morning before work

for those of you with heartburn may I heartily recommend magnum whites

VG you bawl away love, in good company over here!

sore hips - am permanently feeling like someone has kicked me in the fanjo - time to get the gym ball blown up me thinks

Dizzy am also off to iron - (sad woman alert) have you got one of those posh massive steam irons yet because I'm very happy with mine. I wouldn't say it encourages me to iron but it is definitely faster (my life is over - I am talking about irons....)

Evening,

Just wanted to share my mini-rant/trauma of today to get some sympathy (or to be laughed at and told to get over it - either will do!). I hopped on the tube to go home after work at Bank as normal. It looked a bit busier, but thought it was okay. I followed about 5 other people and a group of men infront of me stopped (despite there being plenty of room by the seats) and the people behind me kept going. At this point the people infront of me stepped back and someone decided to get off (they had had plenty of time before people started getting on - grrr). Anyway, this scared the living daylights out of me as I was gettign squished and I had to squeal "please be careful I'm pregnant" as they started squashing my bump (attracting much unwanted attention). They moved aside and a lovely man asked me if I was okay, but hormones kicked in and I started struggling to breath and crying - sheer shock that Bean could have been squished. I tried to hide behind my paper at this point as I was mortified, but my disguise failed as I'm struggling for breath and snivelling . Anyway, a nice lady gave up her seat, but I couldn't stop crying. I was so embarrassed.

TO make matters worse, my doctors surgery was closed so I couldn't pick up my blood tests results on the way home and now can't do it until Friday so I have 2 days of worrying that they'll try to put me on iron tablets and I'll never poo again!!!!!
And now DH is watching the football - I hate sport.....
On the plus side I wrote a giant list of all the things I'm going to buy for bean on saturday (haven't bought anything yet and I'm 28 weeks on saturday).
Do I win the whingeing drama queen award ?[hmmm]

I'm loving being pregnant - getting away with blue murder. When I was in the first trimester and felt like death on the tube I cried (only other time I've cried on the tube, promise) and everyone ignored me. Cry when you have a big bump and they all empathise, pat your arm, give up seats etc.

Ironing? Very dedicated. You don't all iron your duvet covers do you? I know it looks/fels better, but I've never mastered the ironing a king size cover....

Oh, I'm feelin better already. I love this website. Had a rotten day (v stressful employee who genuinely believes they should work their current hours for 4 days instead of 5 but still get paid their full salary)....

...must continue to think about shopping....

Evening all

Sazzles - can you share your energy? I lost all mine making a bed today!

Pregnancy1 - Don't worry about the emotional/crying moments - I burst into tears today 'cause M&S ran out of the rolls I needed wanted for my lunch. I had staff getting me chairs/drinks etc. I felt so very stupid!

Our little one's name was chosen from an Opera DH took me to on out first weekend away in Rome - She is to be called Poppaea Anna(Poppy for short) pronounced pop-ay-uh. She was a Roman Empress. We have had very mixed reactions - from it's fab, unique and very girly to What?!>? she has to live with it forever???
Never the less Poppy she will be.

Will try and catch up on the day's posts whilst waiting for the come and get me call from a very drunk DH post footie.

I think that's a beautiful name. I can never understand why people feel able to negatively comment on the names you want to call your baby. A guy at work is having a baby and wants to call her Ella - the whole office then erupted into discussions - "what you've chosen the name before you see her? What if she isn't an Ella" and even worse "eeew, Ella is a horrible name"!!! Why oh why would you do that? Even if he'd come up with the most hideous name in the world, I'd try to be supportive and think of something positive to say.

Sorry - am clearly in rant mode today , but I do think Poppy is perfect.

dizzydixies · 21/05/2008 21:42

pregnancy1 horrible people on tube, time to finish work early me thinks!! and btw can you kick those who dare NOT to like Ella (dd1) in the shin please, its a fab name for a beautiful (if stubborn and willfull) girl of mine

although I am always amazed at people being able to make a decision before baby comes, not because of the waiting to see thing but because I think when baby arrives you HAVE to decide and stop faffing about as I am prone to doing

oops thats lovely well done you on making a decision am still wading through all the choices but nothing sticking out

pregnancy1 · 21/05/2008 21:49

I mentally kicked them as I think its a beautiful name. I did verbally tell them to shut up as they started to list all the girls names they didn't like (and I would have been v annoyed if hey'd selected any of our favs).

Right, am off to bed now - it's miles past my bedtime (get up at 6:30 to get into the office for 7:30 so I can leave early and avoid the rush each evening )

Night everyone. Hope your dreams aren't too weird (presuming everyone had really odd dreams during pregnancy). xx
