Cyteen - Maybe take some comfort in the fact you are having a boy if you can?. You may find some of your brother is there somewhere IYSWIM. Plus my nephew 2Y 6M keeps saying "Nannie kissed me, Nannie tickled me" But he's talking about my nan that passed away in 1999 that he only knows of from pictures and us talking about her. It's all odd but comforting at the same time x

cyteen · 20/05/2008 12:09

Aww thanks VG. I don't mean to keep going on about it, everyone has losses and pains after all and it makes me feel like I'm being a bit 'poor me' all the time, which is not my intention at all. But moving is a big life change so I guess that makes things come to the surface more.

I think he would be very happy to see me in such a nice place and so settled with someone I love, and excited about the baby coming too In fact, I know he would be. And that is a comfort.

Think you're probably right about yoga concentrating your self-reflection. It could be worse though, I found whenever I did yoga that it caused the most terrible flatulence There is such a thing as too relaxed, after all!

Shazza2002 · 20/05/2008 12:09

Why can't I spell?

cyteen · 20/05/2008 12:13

Oops, cross-posted with you there Shazza That is interesting about your nephew, if a little bit spooky! But comforting too - I have worried about how to introduce some sense of my mum and brother into my kid's life, as they were such special people, so it's good to know that littlies can pick up on stuff.

I am very curious to see if my little boy looks like my brother at all. Simon was a very handsome baby, so I won't be sad if he does! Think my dad is a bit anxious about us having a boy, for similar reasons...it will be very close to the surface for him, I think.

Shazza2002 · 20/05/2008 13:33

Cyteen - If they're anything like my parents they will love him more. I would of had an older brother, he died when he was 3. He would have been 10 years older than me. My mum then had my sister and I and said she always wanted another boy. Then my sister had a boy, first grandchild and I am in no doubt, that too my parents he is extra special. He will never replace my brother to them but somehow eases the void that has been left xx

TwilightSurfer · 20/05/2008 14:04

Lovely conversation Cyteen and Shazza. Before DD was born I wondered how I would ever explain my late mother and make DD, somehow, realize her importance. Then as luck would have it I gave birth early, delivering on my mother's birthday. Only recently has DD asked questions about her. I avoid some just because I think DD's too young to understand completely but I've made a point to make Grandma Claudia part of our family discussions. DD knows she can see Grandma Eleanor, DH's mom, in person but that Grandma Claudia can only be seen in pictures.

And not to get to0 Twilight Zone here but...

DD1 delivered naturally and early...winding up with my late mother's birthday.

DD2 (on the way) is due 16Aug BUT my grandmother (my mother's mother) who is at this moment dying...her birthday is 14Aug.

It's just my guess but I will not be surprised if my water breaks at 1AM on 14Aug.

I have some funny coincidences with dates too.

We exchanged contracts on our 1st house on the date my nan died. The scan for this baby was also on that date (seperate years). This baby is due on date I was due as a baby.

sarahnh · 20/05/2008 15:00

back from midwife's appointment and it didn't go to bad.. mw was actually nice to me!!! i voiced my concerns over last week's hospital nightmare and she said that because my bmi was low when they did my booking in this could be a reason for small baby??

Anyway baby is lying head down, i got to feel her head and measures 26cm, so still 2cm small for my dates 28 weeks...

So back for another scan next tuesday to decide whether i move to consultant care or stay with midwife!

Oh and she said that i was doing too much running around and needed to have regular breaks... well apart from work today i have cleaned out all my drawers and dd drawers ( found some new born baby clothes i'd over stashed away and went out and bought some paint testers!!!

So for long post xxxx

Shazza2002 · 20/05/2008 15:22

That's good news that you had a better appointment sarah. It's amazing how easily these MW's can upset us. If you are a smaller person anyway then doesn't always mean so but seems possible that you're not likely to have whopper of a baby. On the plus side you get to have another scan . Hope you feel a bit better about things x

TwilightSurfer · 20/05/2008 17:59

Sarah I'm with Shazza...total ACE that you get another scan, despite the reason.

I feel like this week is DRAGGING. My 3D/4D scan is Tuesday so I guess that's why. I'm having a hard time deciding whether to go by myself (DH stays home with DD) or risk it by taking DD along (so DH can see what happens live). For those who've had it done, do you think the video and pics are just as good viewed in your own home or will DH be missing out on something by NOT being in the room while the films are made???????

VG I meant to mention this earlier but got distracted. Crying during yoga is an incredible thing. The purpose of yoga is to connect within and allow for a release. You achieved a MAJOR thing by crying. Emotions highten during practice. Some do asanas specifically to achieve that emotional response. Crying, laughing, even orgasmic sensations/euphoria, can all be achieved through the practice of yoga. Had I been your instructor I'd have praised you for your achievement, incouraged you to continue with the emotion and given you the biggest hug after class for a job well done!!

PetitFilou1 · 20/05/2008 20:46

Hello everyone, hope you are all feeling well.

I never get time to post anymore! I am working from home two days a week and I think I am actually doing more work than in three days at the office. Evenings are spent sorting out the dcs packed lunches and dinners for the next day when I'm working - god I HATE it! I made my own packed lunch for about ten years when I was at school and swore I would never do it again and here I am doing it again.

Anyway, wish me a Happy Birthday please as I am 36 today. Bloody dh is away. Again (this is the second year running). I have put my foot down about next year.

Thanks sazzles - yes non alcoholic beer isn't really the same is it!

All going fine here. Have had very expensive cleaners in today so the house looks quite good but sadly I can only afford to have them once a fortnight! I'm beginning to feel settled and the dcs have been doing nursery/preschool for two weeks (not looking forward to half term next week though!) I've registered with GP (after filling in about ten forms in triplicate) Seeing the midwife on 9 June and she's said I can have a homebirth so I'm happy.

Not heard from libbysister I'm afraid ...

Hello all, very exciting that you might meet up - you can post here and tell us that you are actually due in August 2008 and not really 75 year old men called Bob with ferrets.

Has anyone else taken their wedding rings off? I did a couple of weeks ago now, when my hands got a bit swollen (nothing like my feet, though), and haven't put it back on. It has always been a little bit on the small side, so I don't know whether to get it stretched, to try again wearing it or to leave it until after the baby comes along - does anyone have any experience with this? Do rings get easier to put on and off again straight after the birth?

Oh yes, on a chain sounds like a good idea. Well, I guess that I'll probably wait and see for a bit. Off swimming in a bit, which should be nice, and then sausages for tea. I hope that you had a nice day.

VintageGardenia · 21/05/2008 08:05

Thanks TS for that, it's a good and more profound way to look at it! I suppose what concerns me is What Lies Beneath, you know, worried if there is genuinely something to sob about or if it's just a hormonally-induced burst. I'm still at it btw, yoga or no yoga.

I was looking at the list the other day & wondering about libbyssister too. Hope all is well for her.

Do NOT feel like going to work today but there I drag myself. Seeya later.

VintageGardenia · 21/05/2008 08:06

AND having dreams, vivid ones, disturbing ones. Some re. very much loved exDP, one last night about our rector! Don't tell ALBS she'll be .

VintageGardenia · 21/05/2008 08:07

Also had a dream in which I was branded on the arm by some metal implement heated up in a pizza oven. I had to have it held on my arm for 10 seconds, then I had to brand other people but they were too nervous so I let them go.

Weird.

oopsacoconut · 21/05/2008 08:11

Just a quickie to say that finally this baby has something - a name!!!!!! and some nappies and a free nappy bag from boots (voucher was due to expire and wasn't wasting the free nappy bag!!)

Have a good day everyone and hopefully I will be able to catch up later on DH's mobile wireless!!!!

Buckets · 21/05/2008 09:58

Hello! Finally caught up with the last few days postings.
I bought a bargain 2nd hand Phil&Teds locally on Sunday for £190, it's immaculate!
Re nesting, have finally got the baby's room almost ready, complete with pc and broadband LOL. DS still sleeping on DD's floor as new curtain pole for his room has got bent and needs my Dad to attack it in his workshop. Hoping to get him in his own bed after our camping break next week. Tesco man is bringing giant sanpads this morning for my hospital bag.
VG - could your sobbing just have been exhaustion? I had another crying fit last night, I think I just get so physically tired it makes me hysterical. But, funnily enough it always happens at a convenient time when DH is around to comfort me so maybe your yoga class was indeed a safe space to let it out - the subconscious is a marvellous thing.
Oh yes and my mum's new book is officially out (the cover is dreadful! It's actually a very witty and slightly romantic crime novel.) She's having her first proper booklaunch party next month and I will be waitressing! Anyway, it's a great gift if you've got someone to buy for soon ...
