Still sitting here w a i t i n g..... DD keeps coming back to me asking where the brown truck. We're both a little too excited.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 19/05/2008 20:39

IT IS ALL HERE!!! I put the stroller together and DD hasn't stopped playing with it. The carseat fits perfectly. However, now I'm pooped so the playpen will have to wait for DH's expertise.

Sazzle the pink isn't like the picture it's more fushia which in my book is a little easier to tolerate.

Dizzy, remember my DD will be using the stroller first so don't panic because I have it in the house already. It's going to be PERFECT for hauling all the swimming pool gear and DD to and from the pool.

evening all, did you miss me

been busy busy busy for me, was working at Cancer Research Race for Life on sunday and it was great, I really enjoyed it

met some lovely people and was a good day although I hadn't slept well the night before so when I got home at 3pm I went for a wee lie down till 5pm

girls both well, dh fine, working late shift but amazed at how much I managed to get done in house today after being so tired yesterday

think the nesting instinct has finally kicked in so trying to make the most it it

who mentioned cramp - OMG yes, my right calf especially and the top of my feet - which dh has declared makes me a freak

working during the day this week and inlaws over on friday [sob][sob][sob]

Morning,

Very impressed with all your baby stuff TS!!!

I still have done nothing!!! Have to buy paint to paint nursery, get pram, car chair, dd baby clothes, baby bath from old house we are currently renting out and buy a load of things!!! This new baba doesn't even own a new baby gro arghhhh

I have 28 week midwife's appointment today. I'm dreading it. I wish i had a midwife like you SasslesA, who will just feel if the baby is a good size. I know after last week's horrible hospital trip this midwife is going to give me grief! Why cannot they just be nice?? And i have to have bloods done and they can never find a vein... oh woe is me!!!!

On the up side, kicked DH out of bed for snoring last night so feel a little more refreshed than normal

Oooh -v exciting about the third trimester. When are you counting it as starting from? All my books etc have confused me (nothing to do with jelly pregnancy brain or anything ) - I'm currently 27+3 - am I in my 3rd trimester yet? (Probably v stupid Q )
Feeling v smug this morning as have finally ordered the fabric for bean's curtains. Found a lovely website which was £1.74 per metre cheaper than all the 'dicount' ones!
We're off to JL in Oxford Circus on Saturday to order most of our baby stuff. SO excited :-) Just trying to decide what colour pram to get now.... DH has decided he doesn't want all black/grey - do you think a dark grey base with bright orange or pink will be too much? I'm edging for pink so people can't get confused if i put bean in neutrals for the day

I LOVE BEING PREGNANT

oopsacoconut · 20/05/2008 08:54

Hi All

Been AWOL again for a while between work and stupid broadband - YES still!!!! never seem to have time.

TS you seem very organised - I still have nothing - nothing bought, nothing decorated, nothing even ordered!!!!! Still trying to decide on out mountain buggy or not???

Dixies I did race for life on Sunday and was feeling very left out by all those runners!!! but did as i was told and walks gently.

Not seeing m/w again until 32 weeks (am 26 weeks now) - is it normal to not see one for 8 weeks at a time in first time pregnancy? I thought I was supposed to have a 28 week then a 32 week one??? Feeling a bit neglected especially as pickle has been very quiet and not too wriggly.

On a happier note DH has surprised me with a weekend in Paris this weekend and booked a 4d scan for the 31st May.

Will try catch up soon when new broadband is installed next week.

oopsacoconut · 20/05/2008 08:55

Sorry for mamoth me me me me post.

miamla · 20/05/2008 09:46

diz, course we missed you! although i've been a bit awol myself as well!

oopsacoconut...wow! you're off to Paris? you lucky thing! and a surprise trip as well! as for the 4d scan... you will absolute love it!
i've had exactly the same midwife appts as you ie one at 26 and next at 32. if you're worried about pickle being quiet, give your midwife a call

pregnancy1...i reckon a grey base and orange or pink top would be lovely personally but i do have rather eccletic (sp?) taste in colours!

TS... sounds like you've had an exciting day. did DH manage to build the play pen ok? if not i'm happy to pop over to help. you can pay me for my time in pancakes!

sazzles.. your midwife is obviously too superior to bother using a tape measure! i have a similar thing in my notes too and i never saw a tape measure either!

very impressed with all the race for life efforts! is that the one where the ladies just wear their bras?

i apologise in advance for my gloating now but you must remember i'm one of the earlier birds at 30 weeks today but....

Pip's possessions now include:

  • a car seat, fully installed (dizzy, hope this is allowed!)
  • various baby gros and sleepsuits
  • socks
  • nappies
  • bibs
  • fleece fabric for me to make a blanket out of as soon as my sewing machine is unpacked (but after i've done your top VG if you're still interested!)
  • a cute little outfit with "cuddle magnet" written on the front
  • a black Anarchy babygro
  • and a bright fushia pink t-shirt
  • the all important teddy bear! guess what bits DP bought!

and as from Friday he'll have a bedroom as well!

Pip has got a whole box just for his bits and pieces and i really enjoyed writing "nursery" on it!

my old sofa was taken away this morning..thought i'd be upset (i've had it for 20yrs!) but you know what... onwards and upwards, fresh new start and all that

cyteen · 20/05/2008 09:52

Here's to the upcoming 3rd trimester! [clinky] Chin chin

I for one will be glad to get there - am 26 weeks like you oopsacoconut and my little one is also playing quiet this morning after an active few days Then again, I just walked into work for the first time since moving and it's twice the distance I was doing before, with a lovely uphill stint at the end, so perhaps he's been lulled to sleep by all my vigorous walking motions.

I also am in awe of everyone being organised and getting their nurseries sorted out. We still haven't done or bought anything Still, NCT classes this weekend, that'll be a start. Think DP is a bit scared Mind you, I am too.

sarahnh good luck with your midwife, be firm with her if need be - don't forget, you are the patient here and the health service should be working for you, not against you

Had quite a funny 'new house' moment yesterday. When we got home yesterday afternoon, we discovered that my beautiful white and tabby cat had obviously tried to climb up the chimney - she is absolutely filthy, grey with soot and looks really pissed off Silly girl.

VintageGardenia · 20/05/2008 11:10

Hmm not even sure where I was last time I was on here!

ALBS I think you asked about cramps, I had a horrific cramp in my calf as I was parking a few weeks ago, completely unable to control the clutch & had to leave the car hanging half out in the road to a marvellously relaxing concerto of horns... it lasted a good five minutes. Someone said it was due to calcium deficiency, someone else said was deydration ... I don't know, but I don't think I've really had a proper cramp before, it was agony.

cyteen delighted you've got your move done!

miamla you don't worry about the top, you have other things to be getting on with and don't need extra stress.

diizzy how could I possibly imagine your antiIrish remarks were meant seriously when the whole world knows how wonderful, compassionate, intelligent, witty and interesting we are?

oops LUCKY YOU gay Pareeeeee.

Look we have nothing - seven vests, two babygros and a shawl & hat knitted by my mama. Still no pram, Moses basket, etc spare room my study (hollow laugh) still full of boxes, piles of clothes, etc. Am I stressed? No, no, not I.

Am physically well this week but keep bursting into tears. Sobbed at yoga last night. God, the embarrassment, despite calmness of teacher quietly murmuring that it was a safe space and I should let the tears out. Not sure what's wrong but is most wearing. Held it together at work yesterday but sobbed in car on way home like a complete loon.

Bonkers.

Shazza2002 · 20/05/2008 11:14

Morning ladies.

A lot more of you around today. I was feeling very alone yesterday.

alittlebitshy I've ordered it from a company called Baby Birds in Weymouth. Am I allowed to just type the website? If you just google it will come up anyway. They are in stock 'it says' 2nd June. Then takes 5 days from then. What colour are you going for?

Oh baby stuff. I think I have most of the essentials, but not many outfits as don't know the flavour.

Nesting instinct has kicked in, I've decided I need to paint the living room . Well one wall to be exact. The rest is very clean so gonna go for a feature wall me thinks.

Hope everybody else is having a lovely day

VintageGardenia · 20/05/2008 11:18

Hi Shazza what is the story with the nesting? Can someone infect me with it, please? My nesting extends to thinking "I wish someone would empty the spare room / convert the garage / scrub the skirting boards" but as soon as thoughts turn to self I immediately invent a book to write, exfoliation to be done, essential dog walk to be taken, thereby preventing any poss of doing work myself.

Oh and did I mention, shock, there are no servants in the Gardenia household so ... nothing gets done .

VG, hello waves
i kept bursting into tears as well, i'm blaming it on the hormones!
your top wouldn't be causing me extra stress at all, i'm looking forward to making it. i'm just sorry you haven't had it yet

Hi VG. How many weeks are you? I am 30 weeks on Saturday and I think that has something to do with it. Feels like I'm on a countdown as will only be 10 weeks to go. (8 weeks left at work including this one). But remember, I have just said the wall 'needs' painting. I haven't actually said I will do it yet? Thing is I sit at work planning what needs to be done at home, but when I get there I'm too tired . It's like I thought 'Oh, I could do stuff this weekend?' Then I remebered I'm going to Weymouth for the weekend. By next weekend the nesting instinct would have gone

Oh god, the cramp! Terrible, knifelike cramps in both calves, really bad. I have to be careful how I stretch and wriggle while asleep as I can feel them coming on, and DP understandably doesn't like being woken up by me leaping out of bed and shouting FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK at the top of my voice.

And the tears too, oh yes. As much as I love the new place and am excited to be there, every evening since we moved I've drifted into a sad fugue state and felt really vulnerable. Couldn't work out what it was for ages, then I realised: it's because I keep wanting to ring my brother and tell him about the house, except I can't

Thanks for the toilet dolly VG, I'll treasure it always

have you stopped crying yet? So long as I sit here thinking of nothing I am ok. The instant I allow a thought to enter my head I collapse. Hence yoga, I think, with all that concentrating on your inner self, causing floodgates.

Shazza have never been 100 per cent sure on weeks, I think I am 30. At least you are actually GOING to Weymouth. I rush off claiming I have to have a shower when hair clearly still dripping from last one!

Oh cyteen. I know exactly what you mean. When my father died - five years ago - I kept hearing things on the radio or seeing things in the paper and thinking ooh wonder what he will think of this. Kept reaching for phone to ask him a point of grammar, or something, only to remember in a horrible strike to the heart that he wasn't there any more.

You make my tears seem very hollow.

Can you console yourself in thinking that perhaps he does know about the house, somehow, now? And the baby, too.

shazza I ordered from babypages.co.uk this morn. They have the chassis but are waiting on the body - say next week. Let's hope so. They were really nice (I called them in panic)

more later gotta go
