Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken & Broccoli with Steamed Rice are my favorite Chinese dishes. But my all time favorite is filet and veggies from our local Japanese restuarant. YUM! Now I'm hungry.....and it's almost time to figure out dinner.

After my peppermint tea I'll make a call for carry out. DH will be so happy with you ladies today.

Kung po prawns, mmmmm. But we have yet to find a decent Chinese takeaway here - it's such a lottery, and bad Chinese is so awful that we rarely bother trying anymore

Anyway, I have been to my book group and drunk wine so am feeling a little bit tipsy. Quick, call the social! Had a great discussion though - I was a bit anxious as it was my choice this month and I had put a rather, um, challenging novel into the hat. But although everyone agreed that it was a hard read, subject-wise, we had a really interesting talk about it, so I'm happy.

dizzydixies · 13/05/2008 22:08

cyteen we drove 5 miles accross a toll bridge of buy a chinese because the one in the village is shite - we've lived here since 2002 and someone told us last year there is another one in the village that we knew nothing about

Yes Dizzy, best wishes for a wonderful scan tomorrow.

Chicken Fried Rice was wonderful with plenty left over for tomorrow. DH & DD had Sesame Chicken. The only bad thing about chinese is I'll be starving again in a few hours. Why is that???

Had a bizarre dream last night where dizzy had a boy - and he was known on here as dizzydude . .

mmm chinese....

I like lemon chicken but my face is sweet and sour pork!! Oh love crispy aromatic duck (we often get that as a starter ) too..... mmmmmmm.

dizzydixies · 14/05/2008 10:04

just a quickie ladies to remind you as its wed its swimming day in dixie household so won't be back to post until much later - don't panic

thank you for all your good wishes x

cyteen · 14/05/2008 10:29

Good luck with your scan dizzy!

Am laughing picturing albs' sweet and sour pork face (sorry) Glad to see that others are still having bizarre dreams too - last night I woke up needing a pee and couldn't get back to sleep for ages, then had that thing where you fall asleep but don't realise so think that everything you're dreaming is real...I dreamt that loads of foreign students had let themselves into my house and were having a party, ruining all our stuff, spilling drinks everywhere, coming into the bedroom and freaking me out. I got up and started yelling at them about how out of order it was, then found their supervisor and started having a go at him, but he just told me to chill out because it was their end of term party and they deserved to be able to relax! Eventually my best friend turned up and helped me kick them all out.

I was very confused when I woke up this morning

LadyOfWaffle · 14/05/2008 10:44

Morning all! Don't talk to me about weird dreams, I just had one about Minty and Heather from Eastenders [traumatised].

pregnancy1 · 14/05/2008 11:09

Morning!
Yes, I think I need to stop reading crime/thriller books before I go to sleep....

Off for more blood tests today. Is this normal? I had the full raft at 16 weeks which I was told were all fine, but have just been sent for glucose and iron tests at 26 weeks. Presuming that they just test these regularly for everyone. Is that right? (Nosey rather than worried - unless they try to make me take iron tablets which are the last things I need right now although this morning I managed my second poo in a row without bleeding ).

Good luck to everyone have scans etc today.

TwilightSurfer · 14/05/2008 11:55

Pregnancy1 I had the same tests at 24 weeks. Just standard here in the US. No worries.

Sazzle there's NO WAY I could eat the all the food the take out place puts in one box. It's enough to feed three. It would be so cheap to DH and I to eat there every day BUT he doesn't like what I like....thus leftovers {that honestly go uneaten alot of the time}.

TJuice, look at you jumping threads to say Hi!. And check out your pics. You are looking mighty fine these days!!! Hi right back at cha.

alittlebitshy · 14/05/2008 12:44

I had my glucose test on Mon. Blardy phlebotomy dept was on go slow though. I got there, took a ticket (88), looked at which number had just been called (18) and wanted to cry. Waited for almost 2 hours. That's quite unusual for walk in tests i think.....? Appar they had only had 1 phlebotomist in in the morn hence the backlog.

Sorry about my sweet and sour typo. Must check typing - am crap at it, so must check it's at least decypherable!!

LOW at your dream. Er, may i ask what they were doing in your dream? (bless them - loving their storyline at the mo)

Cyteen eek at your dream!!!! If it helps, my dh spilt a beer last night, so I have a tiny bit of your scenario in real life. lol. I went to bed after HOlby city {exhausted emoticon] and dh stayed up. I came down this morn and asked why there was no kitchen roll on the holder - at which point he owned up to spilling a beer. Need to sniff the carpet to check it deosn't smell like a brewery now!

cyteen · 14/05/2008 14:36

Ooh, we have got our first bit of baby gear! One of DP's colleagues has given us a baby bath and one of those vibrating seat things, both of which are sitting amongst the assorted rubble packing crates in the dining room. It gives me a little thrill each time I walk past them. Baby stuff! In my house!

Also had a lovely message from one of my bookclub pals saying how much she'd enjoyed last night's meeting, and offering me her old car seat - what a result! She assures me they've never been in an accident (they don't actually have a car, just rent one when the occasion demands), so I don't have any qualms about it being second hand. She's also got a baby monitor and a book covering the first year, so I'm well pleased

LadyOfWaffle · 14/05/2008 14:40

Cyteen - it's great when you start to get all the baby gear together Makes it so much more real

ALBS - let's just say it was explicit

Pregnancy1 - I am having another round of bloods on Tuesday (28 weeks), pretty sure I had it last time aswell - all I can remember is blood tests!

LadyOfWaffle · 14/05/2008 14:43

ALBS - I have my GTT test Tuesday, last time I remember waiting forever as it's the main blood taking thingy in the hospital so everyone goes there. DH and DS are coming but I think I will have to be dropped off and send them to the park, DS is at that awkward age

PetitFilou1 · 14/05/2008 14:58

Hello all
All this talk of Chinese takeaways and a) I now live in a bloody village with no restaurants and b) dh doesn't LIKE chinese. My favourite is tofu with green peppers and black bean sauce and now thanks to all you lot I want some.

Anyway have to pick up the dcs now but am feeling very pleased as midwife told me this morning that I can have a homebirth - hooray! In fact she said they encourage it round here especially for people who've had quick labours before. The idea of a cup of tea in my own bed in my own house afterwards

dizzydixies · 14/05/2008 15:04

afternoon all, nothing but good news to report here

couldn't see any areas of seperation on the scan so she thinks that it has all settled, only need to worry if I start bleeding again but seeing as I haven't for 10wks now am going to let myself get all excited and finally admit that there is a baby on the way

am 29+2 apparently and baby is measuring slightly above average, no great surprise there though as I have whoppers

back in again at 35wks when will have another scan and discuss my labour options with the consultant

friend also had her baby this morning by elective C/S - a wee boy 8lb2, no name as yet but knowing her it will be something exotic

did come home to find letter from sodding student loans saying they're taking £150 off me tomorrow as they haven't received my deferement forms (sob sob sob) will have to resend them and hope that its sorted by June as I haven't a penny to spare these days never mind when on sodding matty

lovely sunny day here so off to sort the study, new carpet coming tomorrow, and dh out to tackle the garden and shed, as skip also arriving in morning - finally convinced him its time to part with all hit tat and trust me, a skip will maybe just about cover it

sorry for all about me, cyteen, lovely news on first baby bits coming, LofW, if I have a minty & heather dream tonight you're in serious trouble - did you do a link so TS can understand why

pregnancy1 I had another full whack of blood tests today too, bp fine though so am hoping everything else will come back ok too

I have no idea what the hell I am sazz and they seem to change their mind everytime I'm in

I now take it as a new week starting on Mondays and sod trying to work out via scans/due dates etc

pmsl @ your wax attempt, when pg with dd1 I decided to do something prior to her birth as lady garden was out of control - threw some immac at it randomly as couldn't see a sodding thing and ended up in a right mess

alittlebitshy · 14/05/2008 15:44

so you've got a long gap between visits Dizzy? (29-35 weeks). I was in at 27 and am in at next 32. Wasn't impressed, but that's just me panicking....

conkertree · 14/05/2008 16:02

thread hijack -

sorry to butt in but I was on the August thread last year and am just sitting at work (doing no work) remembering this time last year so thought I'd just say hello.

Hope you are all getting on well, and my one piece of advice for any first timers, is to do things like go to the cinema etc as much as you can just now cause this time next year, it will seem like a life time ago that you got to decide exactly what you do in the evenings/weekends. And also - get as much sleep as you possibly can - particularly in the last few weeks (I know its easier said than done).
