Feeling good down here in sunny Southampton.

Have finally sent the email to my real nappy network chums announcing my retirement and therefore pretty much dissolution of the network unless someone else volunteers to take over everything I do. Big weight off my shoulders .
DH has just finished laminating the baby's room (tip: worth paying that extra £1/sqm from Wickes!) so I can start nesting and filling my hospital bag.
I now have just 3 more Sundays of work to go yippee!
And it's lovely and sunny and I'm indoors at the pc . Off for some reading (and passive smoking) time in the garden with DH while the kids are siesta-ing in front of the telly.

cyteen · 11/05/2008 15:33

VG we're doing the big move next weekend, but have got the keys already so are taking stuff over there in bits as much as possible to lighten the load for my poor DP. Took some boxes and bags over today actually and I got really excited to see the house again - it's been redecorated, floors downstairs stripped and walls painted, and it looks lovely. Can't wait to get in there

Glad to hear things are good again between you and your man, although less glad about the chloasma. I hear it does disappear after birth, and it is a good excuse to go hat shopping at least! I haven't noticed anything like that but have seen that my freckles have appeared much earlier than usual and much more strongly. Usually I just get a few across the bridge of my nose after being in the sun, but loads of really dark ones turned up in February

Petifilou thanks for letting me know about your tranverse ds1. Mine finally found a nice up and down position by DD's soccer game time. I was able to sit with my legs crossed on the bench for the first time in two weeks.

{{{Twilight passes Alittlebitshy some aloe.}}}

Sazzles {{{hugs}}} we still adore you no matter how bruised you look. I hope the pain is subsiding. My extraction was like Dizzy's, I guess....it caused me no pain or swelling at all.

Dizzy {{{Twilight Sighs}}} where is that lovely picture of YOU!!! Your family is beautiful as always.

Now more about me....
I tried to make it through the family gathering but couldn't. I left early to go home and rest because of my sinus thing. At home I started coughing and wheezing so had DH take me to the quick clinic. The doc listened to my chest and confirmed I have bronchitis. This made me a bit mad because I've known that for weeks but my OB/GYN kept putting it off as allergies. Phoned OB's office last night to get permission to take meds given by clinic doc. Somehow my call got lost so had to call again today. Nurse phoned back immediately giving me permission. So one day of antibiotic down. I've not had to use the inhaler but that's probably because I've been in bed most of the day RESTING. I've taken these meds before and usually they whip you into shape by the end of day 2 (you still have to take them for 5 days). Just can't believe I've lived with this crud for so long. GRRRRRR!!! I'm too passive with folks.

I hope everyone's week begins happily. See you tomorrow!!!

Hi all,I'm doing a "me" post now and I'll catch up with all your other news later when I'm on pc instead of weeny BB screen!
Braxtons are really quite srong now, just had one quite painful.despite everything I read, instinct was to hold breath but as soon as I breathed deeply it felt a lot easier.
My kick chart barely has any squares not coloured in! Pip's had a particularly active few days. Hope all the other babies out there have stopped playing hide and seek.
We had tears here last night about moving. I feel silly because I was getting upset about leaving my flat.tried to explain it to DP that I know we've had trouble selling it and I know its not big enough and I know it needs money spent on it for a new kitchen etc BUT its my flat.the first home that was all mine and I know moving into our house is exciting esp because of pip but I still feel a bit sad. The plan for moving day is for me to get away from emotional side by project managering the move. Anyone got any tips for emotionallly moving out of a property?DP has no ties whatsoever to my flat,he just sees it as somewhere he stayed for a couple of years. I really don't want to give DP extra stress on the day by me being an emotional wreck.
argh,I'm getting sad just writing this.I need to say goodbye to my flat sooner rather than later but I don't know how.can anyone help? And yes, I know my hormones aren't helping!

dizzydixies · 12/05/2008 10:18

TS am glad you've finally got the proper meds at least but what a nonsense having to wait on them, grrrr, no more being nice, roar and be heard when your health is the issue

miamla am the same, my BH aren't painful but they certainly make me pause, I didn't have them at all with dd1 and not till was 38wks with dd2 so am quite surprised to get them so early this time.

don't be worrying about being emotional, you and I are at the same stage and I was weeping like a muppet all weekend at the wedding, everything was setting me off! I don't mean in the church or seeing the bride etc, just getting ready etc was enough

remember we're entering the final countdown, almost at the last 10wks and of course moving is normally a big enough issue in itself so don't be too hard on yourself

sazzles how is the tooth today? am hoping seeing as you didn't mention it this morning its not bothering you

pregnancy1 · 12/05/2008 10:31

Ah Miamla I know how you feel. I bought my first ever flat in Streatham in 2000 and loved it. My (now) DH moved in in about 2003 and whilst he liked it and we were both happy there, I don't think he quite got how I felt on moving day (2006). I wasn't pregnant, but still a bit emotional. I can't offer much advice other than to say you should warn him you'll find it difficult and to ask him to give you 5 minutes to wander around the empty flat by yourself to say goodbye. You may be pleasantly surprised that, when empty, it doesn't feel as bad to leave.

I had a strange weekend. My parents came round to help paint the nursery and I was banned from helping! Not sure why - to protect me or becuase they thought I'd be useless, but it felt odd. Ah well, sat in our room reading for most of the day popping in to feed/water them occasionally.... Going to order the curtain fabric soon (still hunting the cheapest supplier down) & am torn between blackout lining and normal lining still...... May try normal lining to start so baby is more flexible and then get blackout later if that fails.....

cyteen · 12/05/2008 10:38

Hi girls,

miamla Having been a serial renter for pretty much all my life and consequently having lived in some proper dives, I'm afraid I don't have any advice on detaching yourself from a well-loved home but just wanted to send sympathy. Of course you will feel a strong attachment to your flat and I'd imagine it is hard to let go - but I bet you anything that once you get into your new family home you'll start to feel excited about a future of building wonderful new memories there. This is the next phase of your life starting - from couple to family unit - and that's a big deal for anyone, so cry all you want!

TS and Sazz, get those pills down yer neck and feel better soon

dizzy glad you had a good, if tear-stained, time at the wedding (and glad that all your outfit stress had a happy outcome in the end ).

The squid is still lazing in the warmth of the sun, I think, but certainly hasn't been afraid to let me know he's still here - I was positively thumped to bits this morning, the cheeky monkey [relief emoticon]. DP saw my belly wobble from a kick last night and had a good laugh about that (although he did ask whether it was a kick or just my natural wobbliness!)

I was all set to work out my maternity leave dates this morning and give my written notice on Friday of when I plan to go, but my boss has thrown a wildcard into the mix with the info that, because at present my contract only runs to the end of June, I might have to start mat leave before that time in order to be eligible for the usual benefits. Oh dear! You mean I might have to go off much sooner than anticipated? Quelle horreur! Anyway, I'm waiting for a reply from HR about this, but I can't deny there's a sneaky part of me that would be a bit disappointed if they tell me otherwise.

dizzydixies · 12/05/2008 11:02

ok girls, here goes, you were warned re mammoth wedding story so hope you've all had a pee and brought some refreshments - are you sitting comfortably?!?!?

thurs night went out for meal with work, was good chat but crap service which was a shame

fri got my hair done and nails done and sorted all the packing for going straight after dd1's class

collected girls and set off, lovely sunny day and all in good spirits - arrived at castle 4.30pm

here is castle incase anyone interested

drumtochty castle

arrived to find out not only are we not staying within the actual castle but the stable block about 1mile down path, although still on the grounds, but that we have to share it with my brother and awful sil and awful nephew (now I'm sorry, I KNOW am meant to be a bigger person and love my nephew but unfortunately I can barely be in the same room as him without wanting to scream, he has unfortunately inherited his mothers disdain for everything and whinges/moans and is as spiteful and ungrateful as she is - whole other story) needless to say wasn't best pleased as wouldn't be able to put girls to bed upstairs and would have to go to bed when they did.

never mind, apartment was very nice although very warm and didn't have enough beds, dh and I and kids were in a very small double so between dd1 and dh snoring and it being too hot I had very little sleep all weekend wasn't helping that baby decided to have very little movement all weekend so I was worrying about that - all fine as was hoofed all the way home in the car, all last night and all day today

ok, friday night everyong starts turning up and there is afternoon tea served, divine and later on a bbq (pig roast) all the while a free bar on the go! We all went to bed reasonably early as had been a long day and wanted the girls to be in good form for the actual day

after we went to bed there was a whole lot of drunken debotchery involving huge amounts of alcohol and hot tubs can't take my family anywhere!!!

Sat morning was woken by bladder and one of my numerous aunts shouting up at the window that I needed to go up to the castle that instant to get my hair done it was 8.30 FFS!!! so threw some water on my face and directed dh to sort out the girls and trapsed up the road only to find two girls getting their hair done and another 4 waiting?!?!? never mind, got stuck into the cooked breakfast and after hair was eventually up sauntered back down road only to find brother, witch sil and brat dnephew walking up road to use my parents shower as ours didn't work! didn't bother me, I had a nice bath in peace (hair was done) and so did dh and the girls

dh took dd2 out for a nap and I tried on all 3 possible outfit combos before going with black and white top and white linen trousers

all dressed and up to castle with girls then on to church. ceremony was lovely, 3 hymns, 2 readings and the actual vows. my cousin was beautiful and the bridesmaids dresses were fantastic (am sorry am still trying to load up photos!)

dd1 sat like a wee angel smiling at the front the whole time, dd2 was in with me and dh reading books, eating sausages and dancing to the hymns!!

back up to castle and they had a brilliant bar and band on the lawn, really lovely pink champagne and french cocktails, loads of nibbles, including strawberries and dipping chocolate - just a lovely relaxed atmosphere with everyone milling about

creche opened at 4.30 so kids went in their while we had out meal, free wine flowing and food was lovely. speeches were all brilliant, including the brides, she may have been beautiful but if you think I can talk you should meet her

kids came back and dancing began, good scottish ceilidh with a fantastic band - they were meant to finish at 2am but she shoved a pile of notes at them and they finally left at 7am!!!

the staff had a hard time clearing the room as there were kilt jackets/sporrans/handbags all over the place, they even found a bra in the 'hidden' cupboard curtosy of one of my other cousins and a female guest lol

sunday was spend packing up and heading off home so apart from sil issues and giving the car a slight prang and worrying re lack of movement it really was the most perfect day [smile

well done if you've stayed with me this long!!!

Morning ladies

Well back from Holiday on Saturday and couldn't face work today. Feel like I've been hit by a bus, but I guess that's what I get for sitting on my arse all week and then trying to get all washing and housework done yesterday.

Well I don't think it will be possible to catch up on a weeks worth of posts as you ladies can talk, so would be lovely if somebody could just fill me in on what I've been missing xx

dizzydixies · 12/05/2008 11:45

managed to upload one more photo but it still won't take the whole family one

hi shazza welcome home! hope you had a lovely time, just ignore my mammoth wedding post and you'll catch up in no time at all

Afternoon all! Hope you are all well -
TS, sorry to hear about your bronchitus, that really is pants Thankfully I have never had anything like that, but I can't imagine it's very nice {{hugs}} Get better soon! x
Miamla - Baby has stopped playing hide and seek here, althought he/she isn't moving as much as DS was I think it's enough I hated leaving the house I mostly grew up in (age 1 to 16/17), the only way to make it easier is to keep thinking of the bad points and how much better the new house will be. I can't see me being attached to this house, the sooner I can sell and upgrade to a house with a garden the better! I am not sure if I am getting BHs, I think I may have done last weekend because I was in agony and convinced I was going into labour! I am an achey painy kinda person though (very sensative down there, I can always feel when I am ovulating etc.) so I brush most of it aside.
Pregnancy1 - For DSs bedroom I have a blackout blind (Think it was £13.99 from Argos) and will be putting up curtains, so will use the curtains most the time unless he needs a nap and the sun is streaming in, or he just prefers it darker. That's when he even moves in - panicing now as I have 3 months left but nearly all the house left to do. I am praying the kitchen is delivered before my mum comes back from holiday so we can move out and the builder do it in one go - at the moment he is just working Saturdays, which there is only about 12 left and has only plastered the dining room. I can see this going on right up to the birth, if not beyond!
DizzyDixies - sounds like a super wedding! I have one to go to in July (early baby depending!) but i'm not really looking forward to it - it's DHs side of the family and they have really pushed him out since his dad died - he will probably see on facebook all the pictures of yesterdays [cough] 'family BBQ' which we knew nothing about. And breathe....!

My moses basket was finally delivered today, although the house is a building site I had to open it - it's so adorable! Just need to find a stand to fit it now though. Anyone else not being able to tolerate the heat? I went to Windsor Horse Show yesterday and spent most the day under some trees because I couldn't spend more than 5 minutes in the sun without feeling really faint. Wasn't fun at all - ended up leaving early (but that was also due to our pram/pushchair chassis actually snapping We hardly even use it. DH was hpping mad because it cost £625 and we can't afford a new one this time)
