That bag is lovely, you are much braver (or probably just neater and less clumsy) than me braving real leather in a baby bag. I keep meaning to go into Accessorize and get mine.

JODIEhavingababy · 01/05/2008 09:37

Morning..

kaz Good news about your house! I'll be keeping everything crossed for you to get your move in time for your 'big day'

Tjuice Now I've had to have an extra breakfast coz you made me hungry again! That meal sound like heaven! And I'm very jealous of your prchases.. I had a Pliko Pramette with DS and loved it, esp when he was littke and in the 'pram' bit.. I bought the black one and then the next season's colours cam out and your Polka Dot one appeared and I WANTED it so bad, but DH sad no, (they're good at that aren't they!)

Libra1975 Sorry to hear you are hurt! Good idea to rest up!

MInnie I know it could have been worse, I'm glad it wasn't a write off and/or any more expensive! I've still got my wheels!

isaidno · 01/05/2008 09:45

I like your pram tjuice - have seen it about in real life. And that bag will look very cool. Even when it is full to bursting of all the cr*p you seem to end up carrying!

MINNIE1 · 01/05/2008 09:48

Kaz,
Fingers crossed they will drop price..

Libra
A nice hot bath could help, and a little snooze and then you could get back to work all refreshed and fingers crossed pain free.. The bump touching thing is a weird one i really dont know why people do it. I don't... I had a few this time and needless to say i gave them the stare!! evil pregnant women one

TJuice,
FOOD emmmmm just after a sticky bun after seeing your comment Take those comments with a pinch of salt hard to do sometimes i know..

Doctors apt today so have to bring LO's aghhhhh they will pull the place apart!!! Might give MIL a call to see if she can have them.. Both DD's slept all night wooooohooo. Think they were going through one of those things were one would wake and then the other.. But i think and hope it is sorted now.. Swelling up like a balloon aswell.. O the delights of being sooo pregnant..

MINNIE1 · 01/05/2008 09:53

Tjuice
I had one of those buggies and both DD's used it and so will this one.. Both DD's slept in it as babys as they would not sleep in the crib! So i think there brill buggies and still use it.. Also DP it tall and the extendable handles are great..

Minkus · 01/05/2008 11:16

Oh Tjuice thank you that?s so much better- I have just wiped the dribble off my chin . Sounds a really good restaurant, have you written your review yet? Particularly loved the asparagus bit, one of my favourite foods but have you noticed how you get asparagus wee after eating it! Bizarre. Or maybe it's just me!

Libra sorry to hear about your neck, it sounds really painful. Hope the hot water bottle helps.

Hello again Lily! Glad your laptop is working and you found us once more.

Hurray for Kaz on selling the flat- fingers crossed for a nice smooth house selling process

CilC I?ve heard that adage about boys adding to beauty and girls stealing it- if this one is a girl then the tale is true for me because I really bloomed with ds but look like a pile of poo with this one

Minnie your dd?s and my ds must have been having a chat- he didn?t wake up at all last night for the first time in an absolute age, glad you got some kippage.

SweetKitty did your lo?s let you get some sleep last night? Hope so. Really feel for you on the not-particularly-helpful-family front too, my dad lives just 6 miles away and I think that we speak about 6 times a year now at the most- I?ve tried so hard to keep a relationship with him going but just can?t sustain all the one way effort any more. Would love my children to know their grandpa but he?s just not interested

I?ve missed so many people off, can?t keep up with all the chat but thinking of you all!

Well today I am mostly twiddling my thumbs at work. Only in the office for another 3.5 days altogether until I go on leave before mat leave starts, last day is 13th May. I?m a buyer and in my line of work it?s mostly medium/ long term projects so little point starting stuff now! Doing little admin jobs and power point/team coordination stuff for my colleagues, that sort of thing for the last few days but it?s all dried up (hence massive daytime posts from me)

Should use the time to make lists I suppose of stuff still to get/do but I know what I?m like- I?ll end up with umpteen small lists and a master list of the little lists (I am such a failed control freak) and then buckle under the weight of the paper I?m carrying

Have a good day all
xxx

CilC · 01/05/2008 11:26

TJuice will you be having your baby in Copenhagen? I spent three months there while DH had a project here and DD tagged along also. It was eighteen months ago and we had a fab time. Very child friendly, will never forget taking DD to Tivoli at Christmas.

We also had a hospital visit (won't go into it) but the healthcare system was fantastic. I felt like I was in a hotel! I stayed in a room with my DD and next door was a big play room. They were so thorough, quick, kind and helpful. Can't compare it to here!

I did meet a few people who were very nice but I definitely did notice that 'thinness'and how you look/what you wear was very important to people. Not in a chavvy way - labels blasting everyway, but a more sort of 'refined'way if that makes sense?? Sorry hard to explain, but hopefully you get my drift.

Your description of the food....mmmmm. It made me stagger off to find something but all I found was a pear.

Oh well better stop my ramblings and go and do something productive...like find something yummy to eat that does not make me sick!

LilyToTheB · 01/05/2008 11:41

Morning all!

How are we all feeling today?

I had a terrible nights sleep, raging heartburn that kept me awake! Everytime I laid down I thought I was going to be sick, so just sat up in bed sipping water, which made me need the loo a fgew times! Feeling a bit out of it today. Not working which is lucky for me (sorry ).

On the bright side it's a lovely sunny day here, so might go o9ut for a walk, although still got loads of boxes to pack...

TJuice oooh lucky you being a restaurant critic, that sounds like my ideal job, and all that food sounds yummy!
Off to see what culinary delights are waiting in my fridge...

EEC · 01/05/2008 11:44

Great news about the house Kaz. Good luck with the move, and you too Lily. Have just done it and it is a real relief to have it over with - Still not in any way sorted mind you!

Food.... Nothing in fridge and I need something now - no idea what!

LilyToTheB · 01/05/2008 11:58

EEC - lucky you, I just can't wait to be moved now, it's not really what you need when this far pregnant is it!
Glad it went well for you, you can relax and enjoy the last stages now!

I can't find anything to eat Might go out and get some crumpets..

JODIEhavingababy · 01/05/2008 12:28

Hi Lily, must have missed that bit about you moving too! When are you moving? You lot must all be mad!!!! I also know what you mean with the chronic heartburn! I slept almost upright last night, but woke with a crick in my neck so lay back down again... You can't win can you, I feel like someone is sticking a red hot poker through my chest!!

cass66 · 01/05/2008 12:41

hello all, not been on for a while, hubby away so not so much time to surf.

have been getting low pelvic aches for a while, mentioned it to the midwife. she was good and referred me to physio, but also said it could be vulval varicosities (varicose veins 'down there'). and yes, having attempted a peek just now, little purple bulges have appeared. (?TMI). great. maybe it's better to have them there than on your legs, less people see them!!!

actually bought some stuff, maternity pads and breast pads and new toothbrush etc. not yet ready to buy nappies, think I'm still in vague denial.

second all that has been said re iron, I was recommended some herbal stuff, 'floreana' or something, liquid from a health food shop. it's less constipating. worked for a friend, but quite expensive.

where has the sun gone?? flipping freezing today. going to my 5 yr olds school mayday celebrations this aft, maybe they'll coax the sun out and the rain away!

LilyToTheB · 01/05/2008 13:12

Hi Jodie, sold my flat a couple of months ago and just waiting for a completion date. It seems like I've been waiting forever! I just want to get moved and start the 'nesting' hardly got any baby stuff yet!
Apparently it's going to be in the next 2-3 weeks, I can't wait!
I know, must be mad! Don't want to have a baby in current place though.

Cass, sorry about your pelvic pain, hope it eases soon.
Shame you're cold today too, I must be in the right place today, it's lovely here! Don't really feel like going out though, too much to do (apart from MN)

sweetkitty · 01/05/2008 13:43

Feeling very and sorry for myself today, pelvic pain is the worst it has been during the day ever. It's sore walking across the living room/driving/anything really, my hips and pelvis are throbbing sitting on the chair typing this. Still have the cold and have a thumping sore head, if I bend over my head throbs too. Had loads of things that I had to do today but I don't have the energy to do anything.

Sorry to bring the thread down but it's so bloody hard sometimes, DP won't be in until at least 10pm tonight as well. DDs haven't had a bath since Sunday as I have been too sore to do it, I know it won't kill them though.

cass - ouch varicose veins downstairs a new one on me, can they do anything about them or is it the usual "wait until the babys born?" I'm the opposite I have most things for the baby but none for me yet.

Tjuice - enough of the food porn please! Think I would have decked your colleagues with the sumo comments too. Your pram is the same as my friends who had her baby in October too.

Minnie - so know what you mean about DDs ripping the doctors apart, can you contain them in the buggy (yours are quite young) DD1 doesn't use the buggy anymore and theres no way DD2 would go in it in the dcotors now so my two run amok. One of the reasons I haven't been to see a physio yet I would need to take them with me and thats not going to work either.

Squarah · 01/05/2008 13:49

Hello All,

This seems to be the SPD club - surely more than 50% with pelvic pain?! I certainly do - terrible night despite pillows under bump/tween knees etc. Am being very well-behaved and doing physio, pilates and chiropractic but still sore despite only being 28 weeks! Disappointingly early.

Am also having a hurrumph as had midwife appointment yesterday and, despite looking small, measure HUGE! My womb's bigger than the 90th centile growth. No family history of big babbies or diabetes and I'm 5'5", husband skinny 6' so wasn't expecting that. Have to wait 3 weeks before measuring again but hope this hasn't set my normal pregnancy off down a medical route.....

Okay hurrumph over!

Hey libra I'm going to kefalonia too (may 11-18th) - can't wait, we've never been - any tips? I've been told to find out where the nearest hospital etc is. We're staying in Fiscardo - any thoughts?

I just bought some breast pads and giant always ultra night-time pads for post-birth delights and am thinking that perhaps my life will never be glamourous or dignified again.

Actually it never was !

Squarah

LilyToTheB · 01/05/2008 14:01

Sweetkitty - oh you poor thing! Can't be very nice for you. If you don't feel like doing anything then don't, just get some rest. I hope the pain etc all eases for you soon

Squarah - going to Kefalonia you lucky thing! I'd love to have a holiday but thought it'd be too late in the pregnancy, how many weeks will you be?

RUMPEL · 01/05/2008 14:16

Hi All,

JODIE - I put DD in her big bed about 3 weeks ago now, with a duvet and pillow. She woke at 5am then 5.30am the next morning but settled down, however, I have out her back into her sleeping bag in the big bed now as I think she may have been wakening with feeling the cold a bit - she likes to be toasty! Her teeth have been horrensous the past 2 weeks so it may be them as well. She is 19 months on Sunday.

She slept all last night and after a glass of red so did I! Feel hellish today though. I keep getting diarrhoea now - had this last time too - all the pressure and movement down there plays havoc with my guts

Also terrible BH today and generally feeling lousy.

SWEETKITTY - I loved the mobility of the P+T, easy to steer, not too heavy and easy(ish) to fold. We put DD in the seat to see if she would be okay as she is very tall but she is fine. We are due in July so fingers x it doesn't rain too much so you won't need the hood up. DD has about 3" to spare before she bashed her head off the hood Resale value is good and you can convert to a single when needed - sell your others - that's my thinking anyway. Plus plenty of shopping space when only 1 DD in it!I know exactly what you mean re looking hellish - I look like shit when pg, my face is perpetually falling off, lined, drawn, white (apart form the pigmentation marks that are now appearing) and I just look miserable -so my sympathies with you - (hugs)

KAZ- fingers x house sale goes through. We had to drop our price and wait for longer than we wanted last year too - just the way the market is just now.

TJUICE - how could you eat all that?! Hmm I love tapas though - especially stuffed tomatoes.

Well must go as need to pack for going away tomorrow - trying to rummage around and find my brain so I don't forget anything!

Anyone else got pigmentation now - my boobs always go cafe-au-lait around the nips, my face gets it too, just waiting for the linea nigra to appear now

Take care all
xxxxx

mummypig · 01/05/2008 14:43

hi again everyone, spending another relaxing afternoon mostly in front of the laptop!

Libra the belly touching thing is really weird isn't it? I must say this time round only my midwife, dp and the boys have touched my bump. But then I think I generally exude a 'don't touch me' air as I'm not very touchy feely any time. So only someone with a really thick skin would try to feel my bump and then probably only the once .

The little one is doing that alien thing and making lumps move around my belly. No kicks in my ribs yet but it's amazing how hard they can kick you sometimes isn't it! Just preparation for when you're trying to change their nappies or get them into a car seat I suppose .

Minnie I do try to avoid taking my boys to docs appts as I focus all the time on trying to get them to behave, and come out realising there are things I should have said to the doctor but forgot to. I hope your appt goes well with or without the kids.

Squarah I am so jealous of your holiday.

And your restaurant meal Tjuice!

Sweetkitty it is hard when family aren't very helpful. I feel so jealous of my next door neighbour as her mum is around nearly every week and she has two sisters in law who similarly help her out with walking the dog or looking after the kids, and I have no-one nearby. However I know that both my parents are keen to help, its just that they are too far away to just pop over. Anyway I hope your sinuses clear up soon and you start feeling a bit better.

Minkus you sound just like me with all your lists. I have loads all over the place and I think I tend to use them just as a delaying tactic for really getting things done. I have a list of about 30 things to do this week and was planning on ticking off 5 a day and I have done fewer than half of them so far.

I am pleased with myself however that I have just successfully baked a vegan chocolate cake (using a recipe from another mumsnetter). Ds1 is having a party on Sunday and one of his guests is vegan. I wanted to try the recipe beforehand just in case anything went wrong, but it looks pretty good! The boys can help me decorate it later and if there's any left by tomorrow I can sell it at the school cake sale.

Thinking of you all

Libra1975 · 01/05/2008 15:14

Minnie1 - have had nap now and feel loads better, still in pain but it's so much easier to cope with when not tired as well.

Minkus - am so jealous you are starting your ML so soon, even tho to be honest with no LOs to look after all I would do is spend all day surfing on here....wait a minute.

SK sorry to hear you are feeling so down, ignore your things to do at the moment, I have just been reading the sterilising thread over on B/F and it seems that dirt on your children will do them good!

Squarah - re:SPD maybe it's a July thing as half oy my NCT class have it as well.

mummypig - what does the vegan cake taste like!!

All those going on holiday , but have a fabulous time.

re: lists, I am an obsessive list maker as I have a memory like a goldfish, go to Tesco to get toilet roll and milk and come out with chocolate eclairs and coke. In fact I like lists so much sometimes I even put things I have already done on them so I can cross them off and feel satisfied. I'm not mad honest

isaidno · 01/05/2008 15:58

cass - I've got a varicose vein on my fanjo
I had it with both of my previous pregnancies, ands it did go back to normal both times. However it is much bigger this time, so I'm hoping it is not permanent! But as you say - at least only DH and I get to see it!

Libra1975 · 01/05/2008 16:14

I am impressed anyone can still see their fanjo.

MINNIE1 · 01/05/2008 16:21

Minkus
LOL lets hope they have a chat again tonight, I have cut the nap times for both of them so hope that did the trick

LilytotheB
O lovely hate when nights end up like that, well at least you can rest today.

Sweetkitty
Hugs to you dear, understand what your saying.. Would you take some paractamol to help. If i could i would go over and we could be cripples together. When your in pain like that its so hard to put on a brave face! Dont worry bout the kids not having a bath, sure wont do any harm.. I just about manage getting them to bed not to mind baths!
As for the doctors, have to say they were quiet good. no chance of them sitting in buggie. But i did bring a bag of sweets so that did the trick!!!

Libra
Glad your feeling a little better, I love power naps lately.

doctors went well DD's were ok'ish all thanks to a bag of good old sweets!!
Went to pick up bits for the dinner after and the lady at the check out asked when was i due and i told her, she though i was due in a few weeks not 10 weeks!! Said how big i was !!! I felt like saying BACK OFF BI%CH ITS ME THAT IS HAVING THE BABY!!! and of course i got all the "you poor thing you have your hands full" and then its a quick look to the marraige finger no ring = no man and then it's even worse. Even though she knows jack sh&t about me or DP. O well at least she carried the bags of shopping to the car!!
Rant over
Hope you all are well today..

sweetkitty · 01/05/2008 16:32

Sorry I feel like all I do is whinge and moan on here, it's kind of my outlet for it all, of course once DD3 is here I will forget all about this miserable time and just be glad she's here and well (and I am not pregnant).

Minnie - glad doctors went well, I bribe my two with Jelly Babies when we go.

Rumpel - am now v worried about DD2's head in the P&T will need to go into Glasgow and stick her in it, I don't think the big Mothercare had one, might have to be the Glasgow Pram Centre. I remember when we were expecting DD2 and I went there, stuck DD1 in the back seat and couldn't get her out again. DD2 is about average height for her age but she will be 2 1/2.

I have already taken two Migraleve today for this headache (they are paracetamol with a bit of codeine in them) I have been taking far too many paracetamol recently hate taking anything but needs must.

We had a girly afternoon, DD1 has bright green eyeshadow, pink lippy and silver toenails, DD2 has orange eyeshadow, orange lippy and red toenails, DP would have a fit I will need to bath them now.

EEC · 01/05/2008 18:12

He he Libra - I too do the putting things on lists I have already done! I couldn't live without my lists. DH thinks it's hilarious, but I honestly don't see how people remember to do things otherwise - especially when pregnant!

Talking about wedding rings - I took mine off today just incase I swell up. It feels really wierd without it. Anyone else taken theirs of just in case?

SK This preg thing is really a bore isn't it. I started crying in the car today just at the thought of having to maneouver myself out to go and get DD. I think SPD is starting, on top of the back ache. I can't bear it.... Hope the headache clears soon.

EEC rushes off to check for varicose veins with mirror1

TJuice · 01/05/2008 20:11

sk - that's what the thread's for - ventilation for worries, pains, anxieties, funny stories - everything and anything to do with being up the duff and due in july!

i must say that although i think i have got off quite lightly (so far) - pg is soooo not fun at all. especially now - my back hurts quite a bit and i just can't ever get comfortable. i'm a person who likes to chill - a lot - always taking naps, lying in the park, kipping on the sofa etc - and it really pisses me off that i can't enjoy it anymore and that those days are rapidly coming to an end anyway . . .

i also love lists - i got up and made a couple this morning. my big baby masterlist is the only thing that keeps me together!
