libra - I got the same e-mail last week everyone keeps saying I am so neat don't know if it's a compliment or not.

Heffa · 20/05/2008 16:39

Gilly - I haven't found one yet I might arrange a NCT bra-fitting thing. So far I've only been using my normal bras, but it'd be good to have at least a couple of nursing bras because the wires aren't terribly comfortable. My cleavage also looks fairly obscene in my low-cut BF tops as a result. Bravissimo have a range of nursing/maternity bras so I might order some and then send them back if they're not right. I need to find out what size I actually am now though!

Mcchesers - good luck with the estate agents, it must be a nightmare! I know what you mean about the octopus thing too, it feels like there's a whole litter in my belly!

My cheap M&S PJs and knickers have arrived, which is good. I ordered men's pyjamas though (cheaper and bigger) but forgot they'd have a huge gaping hole for willies. D'oh! I'm going to have to stitch that up before I embarrass myself.

Libra1975 · 20/05/2008 16:40

I have to say I love this site for the discussion forums but I love getting my weekly email from babycentre!!

Everyone keeps saying I look small as well and I haven't put on any weight in the last 3 weeks but I saw the midwife yesterday and my measurements are correct for my weeks so I'm guessing it's because I'm tall so the baby has more room than most to start with!

DS - How tall are you?

tafftaff · 20/05/2008 16:55

Afternoon everyone. You can tell more of you are on ML as the thread is starting to pick up. Looks like we might have to start a new one soon as well!

I don't think my skin can take another pound per week. So far so good with the lack of stretch marks but it is getting to the point where there is no give anymore. It's so taught that I think i am able to feel ridges through my belly, e.g., fingers! Anyone else or is it my imagination?

Welcome to the newbies. This is a great thread and feel free to winge, we all do!

gillythekid · 20/05/2008 16:56

Heffa I'd be wary of anyone but a trained corsetiere for measuring! Rule of thumb, if they get a tape measure out, walk away! Years ago I was 'measured' at M&S as a 34-36 C, the bra they sold me was really nice but on the way home I popped in to 'Madam Foner', a real old style shop where the woman took one look at me and said, "you're a 32 E"!! I was gobsmacked and have never been near the department stores since. Bravissimo won't use a tape either so I often go there now but they have a really limited nursing bra stock and I can't stretch the budget to Rigby and Peller! Anyone else big up top and knows anything about the Hotmilk bra's?
Let me know if you find anything?

sweetkitty · 20/05/2008 17:05

I'm going to order one relatively cheapish nursing bra in about a 34D or DD (I'm usually a 34C) and see how that looks before treating myself to the hotmilk ones.

Just had to take a Zantac this acid reflux is disgusting I feel there is battery acid in my throat constantly.

heffa - love the sewing up willy holes

Heffa · 20/05/2008 17:23

Gilly - M&S measured me once; never again! They told me I was a 'B' cup and then said I should never wear underwired bras. Idiots.

Bravissimo have been pretty good for me (I was once quoted in their catalogue!) but there isn't one down here. In fact, there isn't anywhere decent down here except a bizarre French place where I got my wedding lingerie. They're good at measuring but wouldn't have any nursing bras. And they're barmy; they got really offended when I wouldn't wear a G-string for my wedding. They're in the main town as well, which is hard for me to get to.

isaidno · 20/05/2008 18:10

Well , I saw the consultant today and he was quite positive I would not need a c section, but could have a vag birth, albeit in hospital not home.

Basically the problem is that the umbilical cord is coming out of the edge of my placenta instead of the middle. And it is coming out of the edge very close to the cervix, along with blood vessels. Called a vasa previa apparently.

So, another scan booked for 2 weeks time, and then I suppose he can give the ok for normal delivery. Feel alot happier today because I was expecting to be told it was a c section.

The estimated weight of my baby is 2.3 kg (about 5lb) at the moment according to the scan and I am 34 weeks. So baby is healthy and happy.

Hope everyone else is well xxx

Heffa · 20/05/2008 18:16

Glad you're not going to need a C-section Isaidno! That must be a relief Are you feeling happier about having to be in hospital? I was sad that I couldn't use the MW-led unit (it's next door to me FGS!) but I'm coming round to the idea now.

Peanut73 · 20/05/2008 18:49

isaidno - hey, that's great. So happy for you.

mcchesers · 20/05/2008 18:56

isaidno- excellent news!

On a happy note, I "accidentally" ordered an apple cream turnover with my groceries. yum!

SK- What's the deal with this heartburn? I took the zantac stuff twice a day and still can't take a nap for fear of waking up with acid reflux or as Ashley Simpson calls it "acid refux".

I'm probably pushing it by ordering pizza tonight, but we have so much to do and with the sink out of order, can't really cook.

Peanut73 · 20/05/2008 18:58

I'm getting it too - it sucks huh?! Bought some gaviscon 'advance' today and it helped straight away. I can recommend it.

pigleychez · 20/05/2008 19:10

isaidno- glad seem more positive for you now, even if you dont have the homebirth.

Ive just been to Tesco and grab a few bits for dinner and was served by a really sweet older gentleman. When giving me my change he asked when i was due, i replied then he said bye and said Good luck.

Thought that was really sweet, especially after the rude people i encountered whilst out shopping yesterday!

Ive had lots of people commenting on how much ive "popped out" lately.

Tafftaff- I know what you mean about the skin not taking anymore. So far ive avoided any stretch marks!
My stomach always feel so tight and uncomfortable, I really cant see how this baby can get much bigger!

Heffa · 20/05/2008 19:54

My stretch marks seem to be healing! I put on a lot of weight very quickly before getting pregnant and so mine are actually disappearing as my belly gets bigger.

Enjoy your apple turnover Mcchesers!

Minipinkscottish - are you OK? The baby names thread seems to be a bit harsh (IMO).

tinierclanger · 20/05/2008 20:31

Thanks for being so kind folks, lay on the bed when I got in tonight and ta good cry and feel loads better now!

gillythekid · 20/05/2008 20:33

Just checked out the baby names thread. Crikey, I agree it's harsh, everyone on there has such differing tastes. DH and I have agreed not to say a word about our shortlist as someone is bound to hate what we love, who cares? The lovely thing about MN is that we can all have an opinion when babies are named, but we don't necessarily have to pitch in and hurt anyones feelings!

isaidno · 20/05/2008 20:39

minipink - you call your baby what you like!
DH and I have agreed on a name, but not telling anyone in case they make a face!!
(But I do prefer "proper" spellings if you want my opinion!)

pigleychez · 20/05/2008 20:50

I agree Minipink..

Call YOUR baby what YOU want!

Ive post on there before and sometimes people can be harsh just cause is not their choice of name or personally favouite. But hey you cant please everyone.

Im not overly keen on my sisters choice for her LO due Monday but id never say that to her.

sweetkitty · 20/05/2008 20:55

mcchesers - I know this reflux is the pits, I couldn't get to sleep with it the night DD2 was born either.

minipink - I did post on your thread although I was very like "I don't know" about it, I agree some of the posts are very harsh. Names are so personal though, it's one thing to diss a name to someone you don't know on the net but another to say it to a new mums face. I think if you like it thats the main thing, life would be strange if we all liked the same names.

tinierclanger - forgot to say hello and welcome to our thread earlier

isaidno - thats good news about the csection

heffa - oh don't worry you WILL be getting bigger, I was fit to burst last time, skin is an amazing thing

RUMPEL · 20/05/2008 20:56

Hi All,
Welcome TINIER

#RE HOTMILK bras the straps are quite big and supportive - the pink one in the first link has very full stretchy cups that will allow you to fill em out a bit when the milk comes in - I have got sizes 38DD but have them on the second last hook, but the hooks will take me right down to about a 34/36 when on their tightest hooks after baby is born. I would really recommend them - I would go for the pink one though if you have big boobs and see how you like it. (not the cherrybomb - its straps are smaller)

KAZ - was studying for exams and trying to do assigments so maybe she has been too busy to post - plus she is trying to move!

SWEETKITTY - Had a look at you but don't recognise you - I am appalling though at remembering people - I get very confused

PEANUT - glad to hear all has calmed down and littly is behaving themself!

POLEDRA - hormones - scew everything. Men need told what to do - subtle innuendos just don't work. They just don't get it. I make my hubbie lists and stuff! I have got him quite well trained after 13 years though - started him young He still does my head in at times though - as I am sure we do them. Hope you are feeling brighter soon.xx

TJUICE - you sound like a bit of a control freak Take it easy and look forward to meeting baby and your big shindig next year - I am sure your guests would not want you run ragged - they will be happy to be a part of it and share your happiness.

Had the MW today - my blood wouldn't come out - she had to try both arms as it was only trickling - never had that before .

I have decided to buy a birthing pool - they have just installed one here at the hospital but it is first come fist serve so seeing as it seems so busy in July I felt it was the best option. This will be our last baby and I would so love a waterbirth if I can. Also asked about the syntometrine - apparently becaue it didn't work last time and I had to have a manual removal they wiil insist that I have some help this time - but I can try a syntocinon jag instead.

baby's heartbeat was strong and LOUD much slower than with Ambers - sounded really different. never got measured so no idea how big/small I am. Baby's head is down but the rest of him/her is diagonal -knew that as he/she woke me up last night by elbowing and heading my bladder whilst simultaneously booting me in the right ribcage

Bought wee white socks today and bootees, dextrose sweeties and juice and mints for birth bag so am nearly there - just need to stock up on water. then pack

Well must go as DH will be calling soon a he is away for a few days. off to watch Gok.
xxx

sweetkitty · 20/05/2008 21:02

Rumpel - whoops forgot I had a pic on there bet we do know some of the same people though

Right ladies we are fast approaching our limit on this thread shall I start another one, poor brain can't think of a good title though

  • final furlong (has that been done before)
  • acid throats, dodgy pelvises and hotmilk bras
  • can our poor skin stretch anymore?

??? anymore ideas

MINNIE1 · 20/05/2008 21:09

isaidno, Thats good news and babys is putting on the pounds even better again. So glad it's turning out the way you want it (well nearly the way you want)..

Tinear, Nothing like a good cry, does make you feel alot better..

On the names we have an idea of a girls name and stupidly said it to my DS, her reply was "oh no dont like that". My reply was you dont have too!! She was rather about it!!

minipinkscottish · 20/05/2008 21:09

Thanks for support guys! tbh - not totally sure of name and was looking for some constructive comments and pleasant banter not a torent of abuse Feel quite "hurt" by it - but I did ask eh? I'll know better now!!
