Hi everyone.

Hope everyone is feeling ok today and not suffering too much.

Ive been really tired this week and after my wed long day (10 hours) i was shattered last night. Must have been showing it today as sooo many people commented on how tired i looked and where asking how long i had left of work.
2 weeks today i will be a free woman!!

Also had lots of comments lately on how i have only put weight on the bump and nowhere else. How neat my bump is and how well im looking (not that i feel it some days!)

Hopefully this time next month ill be an Aunty too as my sister is due her first the end of the month

Sweetkitty- Know what you mean about it seeming very close now its May. Scary!

Libra- Im another List person! Hope your neck gets better soon.
Im usually a shy person but dont seem to mind people touching my bump. Slightly odd when its a complete stranger. I love my friends feeling the movements and sharing my excitement with them.

Kaz- Congrats on selling the house

Mummypig- I dont get many big kicks as such any more as baby is too big now ( measuring 2 weeks ahead!) But yes i constantly get the alien movement thing. DH is amazed by it. Have felt limbs move the whole way across my tummy and feel little foot/hand elbow lumps poking out! I love placing my hands on bump and feeling the movements

JODIEhavingababy · 01/05/2008 20:23

SK - I second TJuice - if you can't have a good old moan on here then where can you! I know I don't mind, and I'm sure no one else does Moan away lady!

My house is full of lists, what to buy for baby, what still needs doing to house (only small jobs though, thank god!) Even down to what we are doing day to day coz I keep forgetting what day is what activity!!!! I couldn't live without them! (well I suppose I could, but I'd get nthing done!)

Poledra · 01/05/2008 20:47

Oh yes, EEC, I've taken off my wedding ring, engagement ring and eternity ring just in case. When I was pg with dd1, I had to have a ring cut off and I'm not risking it again! MIL was a bit but too bad

Kaz1967 · 01/05/2008 21:19

Still nothing signed but looks like it is sorted she should no have too much trouble with the mortgage as property developer and buying on behalf of her daughter this time. Flat price dropped to £66,000 so that's a little better can pay off this place and buy flat with equity may have £4,000 for baby not as much as I wanted but at least I will be moved. Mum is going to pay for the move and the solicitor. Girl at college has offered me a buggy for £20 she says it's in good nick it's one of these combination ones which they grow out of quickly an only been used on the one baby so that hopefully is another thing crossed off the list.

Cat made me sick his morning (farted ) couldn't get out of bed quick enough so sick in sheet and got duvet cover too all now in wash but not best pleased spent whole day chasing blood sugar still feel rough

I have finished the last comms (wot they call english) presentation for the course, got Psychology exam on Tues, Maths on Thurs (catch up) when she is going to give me project we have to do, then another Maths test the following Thurs then it's just a few loose ends to tidy up an it looks like I might be done other than the last Psychology assignment which is another presentation. So college is coming together I think

Poledra/TJuice my ring has had to come off too last week as noticed it was getting a little tight and I have swollen feet and ankles

mummypig · 01/05/2008 21:59

hello again everyone, I have a bit of time before watching Heroes with dp.

Seems like there are several of us into lists then! Our house has lists pinned up in every room from about 3 years ago when dp decided to write down all the work we wanted to do in each room. They have become part of the background for me now. I hardly ever look at them, but sometimes visitors do, which is a bit embarrassing.

LIbra, the cake was pretty good. I'm not really into sweet chocolate things anyway. I much prefer fruit cakes. But the boys wolfed it down. Then they took ages to get to sleep so perhaps so much sugar and chocolate wasn't such a good idea after tea.

Minnie, sorry about your checkout lady and her comments. Glad your kids were good at the docs though.

Sweetkitty, I am envious of your girly afternoon. The closest we have is when I get the facepaints out for the boys. I'm quite skilled at doing spiderman and batman faces now .

Kaz it sounds like you have a busy time at college but should be mostly done in a couple of weeks, good for you. My sister is in her final year of her degree and I'm really impressed at how well she's doing, given that her dd2 has only just turned one.

People with spd experience, are you wearing a belt and where did you get it from? I didn't bother last time as the spd only appeared late in pregnancy, but it did linger for absolutely ages. I've started to hurt a lot more in the last week or so and think I ought to hunt one out. People on mumsnet have mentioned the promedics belts before - either the 'pelvic support' one or the 'wiltshire' one which is a bit narrower. Any comments? I know some people say the belts can make things worse and it's better to concentrate on good posture [mummypig uncrosses her legs at this moment] but I do quite a bit of walking so I can't really avoid the scissoring movement and thought it might help to have some more support around the belly area.

Any comments welcomed.

libralady · 02/05/2008 05:22

Well I've been up since 3.30 as I got cramp, needed a pee and then couldn't get back to sleep. Have come downstairs and am catching uo on yesterday's posts and watching Waking the Dead. Have also had some chipsticks and a glass of coke at this ungodly hour but ut's what I fancied.

Squarah this will be my 5th time to Kefalonia as we love it sooooo much. Fiskardo is right up at the North of the island and I think the main hospital (probably the only one) is down at Agostoli (the capital) about an hours drive away, although there will be medical centres around.

There are loads of places to visit, although some I wouldn't recommend be so heavily pregnant at your time of visiting, such a Drogarati Caves and Melisanni Lake. Both are underground and the caves have lots of steps and can be quite slippery at the best of times and although the lake is accessed via a slope, getting in and out of the boats and walking back up could take it out of you.

Fiskardo is a beautiful fishing village with very picturesque Italiante buildings (the only place not devastated by the 1953 earthquake). There is a great walk around the headland to the lighthouse through a small wooded area.

As for beaches, Antisamos is my favourite (on the headland near Sami) but is pebbly but lovely and clear and ideal for snorkelling.
Myrtos (again pebbly) is lovely although the undercurrent can be unpredictable but the view from the top road is breathtaking.
Xi Beach is on the Lixouri peninsula and is a gorgeous red sand and is so shallow you can wade out for metres and still be only up to your waist, whereas the other two shelf off very dramatically (within 5 metres from the shore).
Visit Assos if you can and also Agostoli, Agia Efimia and Skala and Poros.
If you are into wine, you can visit the Robola wine facrory and nearby is the church of St Gerasimos. Absolutely stunning inside. When I was last in there, there were part way through painting the frescos with gold gilt.
We're staying in Lassi, which is only 10 minutes from the airport, whereas you will be about 1 1/2 hours away on a coach that is, but at least you will get to see some stunning scenary on your trip up to Fiskardo.

If I think of anything else I'll let you know. It's still a bit early in the morning and my brain isn't really in gear at the moment.

Morning to everyone else. Hope those with SPD/colds/children problems etc etc have a better day today. Just think it is Friday, the start of a long weekend.

Sorry for such a long post.

isaidno · 02/05/2008 07:18

Hope you've gone back to bed libralady!

sweetkitty · 02/05/2008 07:30

Ouch libra I hate that insomnia

Every morning I get up and think I will feel better and I don't am starting to get really fed up now. Woke up coughing again this morning and have toothache and a headache again. Am off to the doctors on Tuesday if it isn't better by then.

DD1 has a safari trip with nursery today so I have to go with her, hope it doesn't involve too much walking, the weather is quite nice too so hopefully it won't rain. DP is at home to look after DD2 so we can go.

mummypig - I got my belt from the physio last time, ask your MW will save you paying for something for only a few weeks. You can borrow my girls if you like for a girly day and I'll have your boys for a lads day for DP.

kaz - I don't know how you studying Mummys do it, I don't even know what day of the week it is most days, even when I was pregnant with the first and still at work my routine was mumsnet/shopping/eating with the odd 5 mins of wokr thrown in.

Tjuice - I was lol when you said you were a chilling person I was too until I got toddlers not I hardly ever sit down, lost 1 1/2 stone though on pre children weight so not all bad.

Hope everyone else has a good day

mcchesers · 02/05/2008 07:42

Morning Ladies,

Been up tossing and turning all night, couldn't get comfy and it's really hard staying sleeping just on my left side and I end up switching all night. Is that bad? Really sore down low though. I think the little prince's head is just over my pelvic bone and giving me a terrible ache when I walk. My GP says the low cramps are my body making a birth canal. I can't get the picture of my fetus with a miner's hat on whistling the theme to "The Great Escape" out of my head.

Piggly- Mine's a wriggly wee guy. Yesterday I made out a leg sticking out from my right side. A whole leg! Strange stuff this.

Kaz - What a relief selling the flat, eh? We're about to put ourselves through the same thing probably starting next week. This means I actually have to start looking presentable.Had to forgo painting the doors and wood trim due to VOC exposure.
My condolences, cat farts are the worst! ugh. We've changed litter no less than three times as the catbox in the hall wafts directly up my nose as I sleep and of course I wake with the heaves. They feel they need to sleep on me now.

Since when do we start being nauseous again? Is this to be expected?

Libra- defo no can see the fanjo and toes are becoming further out of view everyday.

SK- Hope you are feeling some better. Sucks having a cold and being prego. The one I got before Christmas lasted 4 months. Let's hope you can shake yours soon. Anytime you want to get together, let me know.

finished work losing mind..hate housecleaning

JODIEhavingababy · 02/05/2008 12:14

You've all gone away!!!! Must be the sunshine!

I've nothing to report really, just seemed awfully quiet here so I thought I'd just say hello

SK - hope you enjoyed your day and your feeling better

Libralady - hope you got somemore sleep

Mcchesers - LOL at 'the great escape!'

Squarah · 02/05/2008 12:41

libralady thank you so much for all that info - I think we'll be hiring a car a pootling around the island on several days if we feel like it - might just sit around and read and eat. I'd heard great things about the vineyards too so must check that out, although I suspect my bump may attract some attention while sipping away! I hadn't really planned to go so late on but we're just into a run of 8 weddings and it's almost impossible to squezze in anywhere else!

Has anyone else measured big? I had my 28 week midwife appointment on Weds and my womb height was way off the graph. I'm 5'5", husband 6' but skinny and no family history of big babies and no signs of me being diabetic so it's got me a bit flustered. I don't look big compared to my NCT buddies either so it's strange. And because we're away in 2 weeks I'm going to have to wait until 3 weeks to be remeasured. Yikes I hope I'm not growing a giant!

disneystar · 02/05/2008 13:03

just to say last few days ive been very flushed and nauseous again so i know im approaching the final hurdles so to speak july still might be some way of but im always like this on the home run.
they are all saying baby is big again but i feel hes smaller than the others ok when i walk its a bit hard cos he right on my bladder
gettin very tired to much more than the beginning
but as its may its looming closer and i cant help feel a bit excited apprensive lots of things
hows everyone else feeling any sickness?

minipinkscottish · 02/05/2008 13:55

squarah - I had 28 wk appointment last week and was measuring big as well. I feel enormous and very uncomfotable - getting very swollen ankles in the evening and have vulvu varicous veins which are getting worse and I feel disgusting because of them

Also very very tired and weepy....29 weeks today...I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all...although I know I'll be fine I keep having a bit of a panic about OMG I'm going to have 6 kids

Sorry for moan...

OP posts:
isaidno · 02/05/2008 14:44

minipink - my fanjo varicose vein makes me feel gross too, so you have my sympathies there.
And 6 kids - well, I'm beginning to panic about coping with 3!!

Hormones all over the place - seem to be over emotional and blowing things out of proportion. Short tempered too.

Baby insists on staying horizontal so I look like I swallowed a giant rugby ball.

I measure big at 28 weeks, but measured fine at 31 weeks. MW says it is difficult to judge baby size until you have a few measurements on the graph.

Kaz1967 · 02/05/2008 16:05

mcchesers it's not sold yet not going to believe this is really happening until it is all signed and sealed

sweetkitty/mummypig I think when you enjoy something it is easier but I do have to pace my self a lot better.

disneystar I am feeling sick again but think it is because I was sick yesterday because of the cat and am still chasing my blood sugar. I have had this regular eating thing and maintaining my blood sugar down to perfection until that point.

Every one else is having trouble sleeping it seams me I am having trouble keeping awake. I had chronic insomnia before I was pregnant and now I sleep so much it is daft.

mcchesers · 02/05/2008 16:05

minipink - gotta tell ya. I'm the youngest of 6 and I was a great comfort to my mom when all the other kids were grown and away and especially when my dad passed away when I was 2. My brothers and sisters looked after me for the most part and until my nephews and nieces were born, I got a lot of attention. I grew up to be independent, confident, and well a big ham! You're gonna be awesome, no worries!!

Yeah hormones a mess. Went off on DH last night for saying something really innocuous. All friggin Mt. St McChesers like. Poor lad.

Suddenly started feeling nauseous again too, yuck.

No one said anything to be when I was measured. Just "aye, looks fine". The best comment I've received from mates so far is, "well you don't look like you've exploded".
gee, thanks.

TJuice · 02/05/2008 16:25

hi all!

shitey rainy day here in copers - i had the day off and foolishly went looking for a dress to get married in on may 30th.
cue me feeling depressed and cross because fab vintage doesnt look fab on me anymore, in fact nothing reallly does. and maternity wear (isabella oliver type stuff) is just so mainstream . . .

plus keep getting this very sharp stitch-like pain in my lower right hand uterus area when i walk too much. Is this normal??? i was shuffling along and clutching my bump like a twonk. biking is much easier . . .

maybe the little minx is tunneling the birth canal down there too - that cracked me up mcchesers!

on the plus side though - i had a session of anti-bloating acupuncture with my chiropractor session today, which was relaxing. and my cleaner came and did all the ironing too . . . £10 an hour and she's an angel.

i must say - this thread cheers me up no end. From veins in your minky to stinky cat guffs - there's always something to chuckle about. (tjuice rushes off to check her minky too)

talking of minkies - who's going to do perineal massage? and more importantly, who can bloody reach at this point? (and to existing mums - does it even work???)

carrieHD9 · 02/05/2008 16:48

Tjuice are there good dressmakers where you are? If so what about some gorgeous vintage fabric and getting someone to run it up into a friendly pregnancy shape (non tent like obviously!)

Also wondering if perineal massage any use- advice welcome!

isaidno · 02/05/2008 17:10

I did the perineal massage thing on pg number 1 and only got a very tiny tear which required no stitches.
Apparently you don't need to do it in subsequent pgs (I didn't tear at all 2nd time)

It is a bit icky, and I wouldn't swear i did it correctly or as much as recommended, but better than the thought of stitches eh?

CilC · 02/05/2008 17:52

After the pregnancy I have had am not even going to tempt fate and check if I have a varicose! Though would be impressed with myself if I could still move/bend to be able to check!
Have just spent a night in hospital with another gall bladder/stones attack! I was put in into the high dependency post natal ward and there were all these new borns with their Mums and the reality hit me! I will have another tiny little baby in approx ten weeks!
My nausea has also come back with a vengence but to be honest it is hard to know if all my nausea, vomiting and pain is related to baby or gall bladder...

Just grateful to find this site...some of your posts have really made me laugh, and other's have made me realise I am not the only one who is going through a challenging pregnancy. My friend across the road is also pregnant and due in June. She has not had a single symptom - except her stomach has enlargened- she did not even get smell sensitivity or nausea!!! She had the cheek to say to me - you know pregnancy is not an illness. Actually it sort of has been for me. But then I suppose unless you are going through this it is hard to understand.

Perineal massage...how come I have never heard of this?

libralady · 02/05/2008 18:24

Evening all.

Never managed to get back to bed as was in work for 7am. Feeling it now though but of course i have the added luxery of no work for 10 days now due to my holiday.
We haven't told DS yet and probably wont until he realises when we are at the airport. If he discovers about any holidays/treats/outings he gets so excitable, it really isn't worth the hassle and headaches.
So our plans for tomorrow are:
Tidy the house, do the washing, go an watch our cricket team play in the afternoon to give DS some fresh air and a run about, come home, tea, bath and put him to bed (hopefully he'll be so exhausted he'll fall asleep at the drop of a hat, then we will pack, chill, go to bed for a few hours and then get up and leave for the airport at about 4.30ish.
Sounds good in theory but I'm sure something will fall by the wayside.
I don't know about anyone else, but I keep an eye ( and post sometimes) on the June thread, as I initially joined that one until I had my dating scan confirmed (wasn't sure if I was 30th June or 1st July). Anyway, one of the firls is due to have her babies next week (she's having twins). It really makes it real now. Just hope this LO doesn't make an appearance whilst I am away.
Anyway, better go an bath DS before I get too comfy on the sofa.
Catch you later.
LLxx
p.s. squarah, hope the info is of some use to you. Looks like the weather will be good for both of us.

CilC · 02/05/2008 19:19

libralady how have you managed to get on a flight? My holiday insurance company would not cover me for flying from 28 weeks. I am so desperate for a holiday in the sun that I would be prepared to change insurance companies!!
Have been told about a lovely place in Cornwall so may take our last trip before we become 4 down there.
Have a great holiday - very jealous!

libralady · 02/05/2008 19:21

Clic

Managed to find an insurance company that will cover you until 36 weeks. Ravenhall. I'll try and find the link for you.
It's the only one in the UK otherwise there is a Danish company through Bupa that will also cover you.
