I bought a little pink cardigan this morning very cute, will it queal my "must buy things for the baby" urges I don't know.

Have never heard of thsoe growth chart things, how can they even be anywhere near accurate, they can estimate the babies weight from a scan but I didn't think they had to plot a graph. MW told me DD2 was going to be 7 1/2lbs and she was 9lbs 3ozs know loads of instances where they get it wrong.

No way we can move DP out of our bed believe me I have thought about it. The sofa is mega uncomfy plus the cat run through the lounge at night so you wouldn't get a decent sleep. DD2's room is tiny and DD1 only has a toddler bed in hers.

Kaz1967 · 30/04/2008 14:47

JODIE from experience if you think your dates are correct they probably are. Babies come in all different sized for what is normal. I would rely on your own dates not theirs.

Libra1975 · 30/04/2008 15:22

"growth chart to plot the baby?s progress "

What is this? I have had a look at my notes and they do that atpe measurement thing of the size of bump but nothing else!

My Harlequin baby suit stuff came today, doubt it will stay white for long once it is on

CilC · 30/04/2008 16:41

My baby is measuring in the 95th percentile!!! But then I kept being told DS would be a ten pounder and she was only 8. I have a feeling this growth chart is not an accurate science!

Libra1975 · 30/04/2008 16:42

Eating half a M&S lemon cake is probably a sliver more than I can reasonable blame on the pregnancy rather gluttony isn't it.

CilC · 30/04/2008 16:50

No, that is restraint...an entire cake would be gluttony.

Libra1975 · 30/04/2008 16:53

The other half is for pudding tonight after fish and chips. (Well I AM going to pregnancy yoga which must burn 1000s of calories )

I'm burying my head in the sand and banking on the fact despite my and DH sizes I am only going to have a 6lb-er

RUMPEL · 30/04/2008 17:08

Hi All,

JODIE - what do you work as? Nosy me I know

My SIL (on Dhs side had a wee bay girl at 2am this morning - Katie Ann. Don't know the details yet but it was forceps delivery - her DS was breech so she had to have a CS before labour started.

So DD is at nursery today and I had day to myself and went shopping - again! Bought new neice some nice things and got newbie some cross over body suits, babygrow. Bought a bottle heater too as we are away this weekend - also handy for future use - used my Boots points so didn't cost me anything really. Also got 3 for 2 on cot/bed/pram sheets in Boots so stocked up.

Am aching now though and knackered. DD is still teething and it is a nightmare just now. Managed to get my essay finished and handed in on time - hopefully I'll pass them both and that will be the end of Uni after 3 years of long slog - HURRAH!!!!

SWEETKITTY - I kept a beautiful wee crochet cardie form DD and put it in her memory box for her. So tiny and cute.

DISNEYSTAR - tell me to b*er off and leave you alon if you like but I just wondered how you got on at the Docs? Did you discuss the possiblity of depression with them? Also how are you and your Dh now? Don't mean to be nopsy but I am one of life's worriers!

Anyone heard how MONKEY is doing?

LAZYHIPPO - what about you?

Well must go as DD and Dh will be in soon and I need to be there for cuddles and food!

Take care everyone - beef ham stir fry for dinner here.

Also IRON - eggs, dried apricots, spinach (raw is best), kale, watercress, rocket, savoy cabbage (bleurgh!)red meat, fortified cereals and like someone said - avoid tea/coffee especially around meal times at they inhibit iron absorption. Also avoid fizzy drinks and have a glass of OJ or grapefruit or some kinda vit c juice with meals - helps iron absorption.

xxxxx

Minkus · 30/04/2008 18:04

The growth chart thing is just a rough indicator, it's based on your individual height/pre preg weight etc I think. Just a line on a graph for "average" with additional lines above and below to show the bounds of "normal" (whatever that is!) Iirc they give themselves quite a wide margin for error.

Oooooh fish and chips now there's a good idea Libra! I shall blame it all on you and Tjuice if I've put on 4 stone by the time this baby appears

Talking of which Tjuice what are you eating tonight go on tease us

Am v tired again today, maybe something to do with the fact that ds was awake lots in the night for no apparent reason other than to tell me I'm his best friend- lovely to hear but not at 1.30am 3am and from 5 am onwards Was so sleepy at work and wanted dh to collect ds from nursery so I could get a bit of kip before they got home but he's too busy at work and is going to the pub tonight so I've got to do bed time too Not fair I would love to go to the pub but am struggling just to function on a basic level let alone have a social life!

Rant over. Off to raid fridge before instructing dh to get fish and chips on his way home xx

isaidno · 30/04/2008 18:17

I treated myself to a changing bag today! £65!!!! That is the most expensive bag I own! I've only had a free huggies one in the past.
here

Minkus · 30/04/2008 18:41

Lovely bag isaidno- If you can't treat yourself when you're preggers when on earth can you!

minipinkscottish · 30/04/2008 20:25

Just wanted to say that I have only 2 days to work now till maternity leave - Tuesday and Wednesday next week I am looking forward to it but typically I've had the best couple of weeks at work for ages - ah well nice way to go!

Went to a birthday party this afternoon and everyone was saying how tired I looked (tired = dog rough) in my books. I have had this bloody cold forever though. I was a bit upset though as my friends MIL (who I know but not seen in ages was there) and she was all concerned about me asking me about the SPD and how it was affecting me etc and she even carried DD2 out to the car for me adn helped me get her ready and I thought my Mum and MIL have never asked me that much. My Mum hasn't seen me or the DDs since DD2's birthday at the end of January and she only lives an hour away. OK I haven't visited her but it's difficult for me I don't drive and can't really take the girls on the train. Kind of brings it home that we have no family support whatsoever especially when I could be doing with some. Anyway moan over.

Back to important things -

isaidno - thats a fab bag

Rumpel - congrats to your SIL, will need to have a look at the 3 for 2 sheets in Boots I could be doing with some new cot sheets for this baby too. I totally messed up the top of the cardi I was knitting for DD3 and haven't been and got any more wool to knit anything else must sort myself out.

I have gone off a Phil and Teds a bit since reading a thread about how some people hated theirs. It's a lot of money and I don't want to get it and think "whoops DD2 is too big for the front it's a bit useless etc" thinking I might be better getting a bog standard Maclaren double and then a single and having them both in the boot. (confused pregnant woman brain)

JODIEhavingababy · 30/04/2008 21:04

Hi

Sweetkitty - I love my P & T I say go for it!

Rumple - I work from home doing marketing calls for a company, things like surveys or customer service calls, really really dull, ut it pays OK and it means I can be flexible when I do my hours, as long as I do them.. Also I wa sthinking of you today, I think our DC's are the same age (DS is 19 months) and I was wondering how yours was getting on the bed? I've just put DS in a quilt and pillow rather than the trusted Sleeping Bag, and he's been OK, just nervous about the bed bit (have bought it, just not assembled it!) DS is teething too, I had to change his t-shirt 3 times today as he has become a drible monster...

Minipink - So of your mat leave... I can't wait for mine!

Isaidno - That's such a lovely bag, I went a bit weak at the knees when I opened your link!

Libra1975 - I've been to yoga tonight, and had fish and chips for my tea yum yum! I have only 11 weeks left of excuses before the whole diet thing starts again!

Got car back, it's fine, and my credit card took the fall! What else is it there for!

MINNIE1 · 30/04/2008 22:33

Sweetkitty
I have a mclaren and a single.. Found the double brilliant but pushing two is to much now so i have opted for the single and buggy board. Works a treat and sometimes DD1 will walk which is great..

Jodie
Glad you got the car almost sorted.. such a pain in the ass, but could be worse..

Got hair done and feel great, i was only up 2 times last night with DD2 so lets hope tonight wil be the same..

Night night

LilyToTheB · 30/04/2008 23:04

Hi everyone,
Not been on here for ages as laptop been playing up, just sppent ages reading through all the threads, my you have been a busy lot!

So how is everyone feeling at the moment? Can't believe its the third trimester already! And I haven't got anything sorted yet! Still waiting to move house, going to be about 34 weeks when we do and will still need to get a new doctor and midwife, and do antenatal classes (hopefully) aaaarrrghhhh!!

All this worrying is keeping me awake at nights!!
Although I'm struggling to stay awake in front of the TV now!!
Night night all! xxx

Kaz1967 · 30/04/2008 23:12

I think I have probably sold the house at long bloody last had to drop the price a lot because I just cannot wait but I think all bar signing the contract it is done. Bit of a relief. Need to ring the agent who I am buying through and see if I can get them to drop the price of theirs maybe just a bit.

LilyToTheB · 30/04/2008 23:20

Oh that's good news Kaz, congrats! So you'll be moving before B-Day too then?

Kaz1967 · 30/04/2008 23:29

Bloody hope so I really do not what to deliver down here

LilyToTheB · 30/04/2008 23:42

No, I bet you don't! I bet you can't wait to get moved now eh! I can't! I just want to start buying baby stuff!
Well I hope it all goes well for you

CilC · 01/05/2008 06:35

Sweetkitty - when pregnant with DD a lady I work with told me that in her country they have a system to determine what sex you are carrying.
I asked her what she thought I was carrying. She said 'definitely, definitely a girl'. I asked how she knew this and her reply was - íf you are having a boy, a mother blooms and he adds to her beauty, if you are having a girl, they drain you and take all your beauty...'
I did not know what to say...for once was speechless...sadly I knew I was having a girl...
Have to say though it is codswollop, beauty (what was left from DD) has been totally removed this pregnancy and it is a boy!
Anyway hope this litle story makes you feel a bit better about the comments you received!

sweetkitty · 01/05/2008 08:00

Morning ladies Happy May Day (does it scare you thinking May, June then July does me?)

30 weeks today as well, pelvis is already hurting this morning so don't think I will be doing that much.

CliC - this is my third pregnancy with a girl so I have been here before, I am still waiting on the blooming phase! Maybe thats why my girls are so utterly beautiful.

Kaz - thats great news about your flat will keep everything crossed for you

Minnie/Jodie - oh I so don't know about prams now I am terrible, was all set on a P&T but went off them a bit after reading that thread, the thing is there nothing else really out there, ideally I want a single with an optional toddler seat for DD2, I don't think I can trust her to walk at least for another 6 months. Had looked at a Mutsy Urban Rider where you buy a chassis and then attach what you want onto it, carrycot/duo seat, single seat etc but someone on here said they are very heavy and we are more of a drive somewhere then get the pram out the car family rather than needing a big pram IYSWIM. Oh it's so hard I'm 30 weeks and still don't have a clue.

Lily - good to see you too and glad you are doing well, must be a pregnancy thing I have moved twice when pregnant last time. Was only 2 and 5 months at the time though.

TJuice · 01/05/2008 09:13

i reckon that's such a load of bollox - about girls stealing your beauty. you are still v. beautiful SK. its more about "if you have time and energy - you'll look okay - sometimes ", but if you are sick, knackered, still working or have a couple of pickney already - its not going to be easy or high priority . . .

can't believe how tactless people are. yesterday a pregnant friend came to my office for lunch and so many people (including women with kids who should know better!) cracked jokes about the two fat ladies eating and how we should sumo wrestle etc etc! i mean, it is sort of funny but as i have said before - i am really sensitive about my weight so it takes a lot for me to laugh and not just shout "piss off before i deck you!"

danes are FATTISTS!!!

and anyone, my stomach seems to have shrunk to the size of an apple recently (normally a bucket) so i am really not eating that much in one go.

which is unfortunate because the newspaper i used to be restaurant editor for has given me a couple of reviews of new eateries here in copenhagen. on sat i ate in a kind of posh tapas place which was okay.
but last night - went to this amaaaazing italian place and got the full monty:
(this is for you, Minkus!)

plate of luscious meats and cheeses with a glass of sparkly wine

then . . .
plates and plates of antipasti including little filo parcels filled with ricotta and courgettes, bowl of pearl barley salad with olives and capers, pork and veal meatballs with soft polenta and tomatoey sauce, thin slices of marinated beef with fresh herbs, citrus peel and balsamic vinegar etc.

then . . .
creamy white asparagus risotto with pancetta
and . . .
homemade spaghetti puttanesca with olives, capers, anchovies, pancetta etc

THEN . . .

juicy slices of beef loin on aubergine puree with chilli and spring onions

THEN

homemade tiramisu with a glass of late harvest, luscious dessert wine

i was full after the antipasti and felt like i was going to die on the way home.

. . . but it was soooo good (and for Copenhagen, not bad value at £30 a head exc. wines) Wines were spenny though and my dp enjoyed an amazing barolo - i had a bit but had to restrain myself.

congrats on the house sell kaz - must be a relief

cute bag isaidno!! i also spent £60 on ebay for a bag - which i have said will be the changing bag but is in fact an enormous weekender which i hope to convert. its probably much to big but i carry mahoosive bags anyway and with baby paraphernalia - its going to be ridiculous. but it may tip over my pram! i got a plain one here (but i got mine new and cheaper on ebay) because my pram is pretty busy already (grey polka dots - my brother bought it for me!) - also cheaper on ebay

Libra1975 · 01/05/2008 09:13

Morning all, well I had a terrible night but nothing to do with the pregnancy, I seem to have pulled a muscle in my neck so everytime I moved it felt like someone was stabbing me in the back. I was exhausted before I went to bed and 12 hours later I am still exhausted. So am working from home today with hot water bottle tucked between sofa and neck and paracetomal to hand(luckily I can touch type so don't have to look down at the keyboard). If this is how I cope with a pulled muscle it doesn't look good for labour....

Kaz&Lily will keep fingers crossed for your house moving.

Jodie, glad you have got your car back and it is well again, the decision was taken last night that DH car would probably not last until I went back to work again and therefore we should shell out now for a new (well new to us) one. I suggested a Ford Focus but apparently they are not big enough as I am only having one baby I don't know what he thinks we are going to put in it!

Libra1975 · 01/05/2008 09:22

ok now I'm hungry TJuice and my fridge doesn't hold any culinary delights
(culinary mysteries yes)

You know the comments thing doesn't really bother me (but I can understand what it does bother some), but what I do find odd is people thinking it's ok to touch the bump! I find that just BIZARRE. Would you touch my stomach if I wasn't pregnant? No. Then why on earth do it now??? Invasion of private space.
