nice bump!

LilyToTheB · 09/05/2008 14:46

Hi everyone, hope you're all having a nice Friday. I've just got back from lunch with my dad & my hands & feet feel really swollen!! I'm just going to have to sit with my feet up for the rest of the afternoon!

I'm really fancying some alcohol at the moment, it must be this lovely weather, I could really drink a nice cold beer! mmm sorry
I've refrained from drinking so far, but am reconsidering...
Have you all given up alcohol?

Lovely pics everyone
I stupidly weighed myself yesterday & have put on 2.5 stone so far!!! That's ridiculous, I don't feel that massive! I reckon alot of that is the weight of my boobs - they're massive!! hee hee

gillythekid · 09/05/2008 14:54

Ha ha Mcchesers I'm with you on the undergrowth, however, Willie Nelson is tame, I'm more like all 3 of ZZ Top. Will need to cut it before getting a wax or it will KILL me!!! Have asked DH to go down under with his clippers but I think he got scared and may have tried all manner of diversionary tactics to wriggle out of it, I'll try to get him this weekend, poor love.

Peanut73 · 09/05/2008 15:33

Hahaha Gilly!!

Peanut73 · 09/05/2008 15:34

Nice bump by the way MINNIE1. It's very compact and out front.

Libra1975 · 09/05/2008 15:59

Nope that would kill me, I have 1 glass of white wine twice a week, am considering a Pimms this weekend but worried if I had one I wouldn't be able to stop.

Lilytotheb - I've put on over 2 stone as well. I do feel massive and at the moment quite hot but for some bizarre reason I am less shy body-wise than usual.

isaidno · 09/05/2008 16:06

lily - I have had glasses of wine - on average 1 glass a week probably. If you fancy a little one it will be ok!

LilyToTheB · 09/05/2008 16:10

Oooh I thought it was best to have no alcohol, so I've been trying. Had the odd sip here and there though.
I'm sure a tiny tipple wouldn't hurt!

Libra1975 · 09/05/2008 16:13

Let me stress that the current (unbacked up) advice is no alcohol at all during pregnancy.
However it is completely unsubstantiated with anything like evidence.

LilyToTheB · 09/05/2008 16:14

Yeah and it's best to do what you feel is right, your the one who's pregnant after all!
I'm sure in moderation it does no harm.

Minkus · 09/05/2008 16:16

Wow great bump Minnie- I agree with peanut it's so compact and taut like Isaidno's too, lucky you!

Gilly and Mcchesers my muff is out of control too- tried trimming it the other day but couldn't see past my big old gut so have asked dh to help with the beaver maintenance. Am just a bit nervous though!

Lily- I've had the occasional glass of wine or beer, probably 6 or 7 small glasses over the course of the last couple of months. Personally I don't think that a small amount can really do any harm but its such an individual decision. Just go with what feels right for you.

Peanut, re: slings- I got on well with a babybjorn but I wasn't wearing it continuously or round the house, just walks into town/day trips etc. I'm sure mine had a waist strap though as I can imagine it would be very uncomfortable without one. When ds was 8 months old (and very heavy- he weighed 2 stone at 1 year so can't have been far off that) or so we spent the whole day wandering around Monmouth and my back was just fine. Could you try and borrow a few to see how you get on with them?

CilC · 09/05/2008 16:17

Hey there everyone!
So much to catch up on! Everyone has lovely bumps. Mine is more wide than it should be... I must work out how to use the profile section...though i am a bit embarassed to show my bump! It is not your usual out front, high up compact 'boy' style bump...alas...

I have really gone off alcohol and coffee. Still can not stand the smell of it. Had a sip of white wine the other night and thought yuck! Never ever thought it would come to that....

Baby carriers... I can not use them. I have back problems and the combined weight of baby and boobs was too much. Tried a few different sorts and the baby bjorn extra support one was the best, but rarely used it. I found with a sling type DD just kept smelling my milk and would not settle... so with all of that I am not going there again... Having said that DH loooooved the Baby Bjorn. He went everywhere with it! From chatting with people DH/DP's tend to prefer them and it gives them bonding time.

I no longer can see my undergrowth so have decided it does not exist.

I am really enjoying the warmth (but them i am from Oz)...but for any of you suffering I should let you know I had DD in August and the heat can really start to get to you - and give you heat rashes!!! My best tip was getting a spray bottle filled with water and shooting it into a fan so it would blow back at me.

Love the knitting! My knitting is pretty average so have been crotcheting. Have made 2 blankets so DS has the same as DD. I am also in the process of finishing up a patchwork quilt for DS's cot. Obviously will not be able to use for some time but I wanted to make sure I made the same for each child!

Last time I went through a real nesting phase and seem to be at it again. Have literally gone potty for plants and have been in the garden all day. Had to basically crawl over the ground and my pelvis is paying for it but could not stop myself. Hopefully the baking phase sets in soon - easier on the body. Last time I filled an entire chest freezer!

Sorry I babbled on....just don't have the energy to get up off exercise ball...infact don't have any energy to do anything now...

sweetkitty · 09/05/2008 16:19

I've had two glasses of champagne and two of wine (different occassions though not all at once) this entire pregnancy. I do get cravings for an ice cold glass of wine but it seems silly opening a bottle for one (DP won't drink it) so I usually don't.

My nighttime (after DC have gone to bed tipple) is a diet coke.

Is anyone elses house just really getting to them? I've put off painting the kitchen until after DB is born? I look at the weeds outside and they drive me nuts. Can't even summon the energy to clean upstairs, I have just tidied the DDs rooms but is there any point, pick up all the plastic crap and turn round and they are playing with it again all over the floor. Must sort out a cleaner for Monday, can't begin to imagine whats lurking under the furniture takes me all my time to pull hoover across living/dining room every day.

Sorry am moaning again bet I am moaning about not having enough time to do it all when I have 2 DC.

sweetkitty · 09/05/2008 16:23

wow so many x-posts we do chat a lot don't we?

I have a very high and compact bump (will get DP to take pics tonight). It's the exact same bump as DD2's, DD1's I put on more weight all over but was a stone and a half heavier then. So I should be on my third boy by now.

I found slings fine up until about 3 months DD2 was a big baby and after a while it killed my back.

Libra1975 · 09/05/2008 16:35

"My best tip was getting a spray bottle filled with water and shooting it into a fan so it would blow back at me."

This sounds fabulous.

We have bought the bushbaby cocoon for a sling as had great reviews and is apparently good for taller people.

twinkle1 · 09/05/2008 16:37

Afternoon all,
My word you can all talk
I have been at 28 week app and scans all day The twins are looking good about 2lb.2oz each and using there heads as battering rams to try and get the best posistion!!!! I must pack a bag now as i only have 8 weeks to go I can't belive how fast time is passing now.Soon we will all have lovely babys
Twinkle

LilyToTheB · 09/05/2008 16:47

Cilc - love the tip of having water in a spritzer! I have a feeling I'm going to suffer in the summer heat. I feel very swollen already!

I feel very into the nesting lately too, although still waiting to move so can't realy do anything about it yet, it's so frustrating! I just want to start buying stuff and set up a nursery for the little one!

Twinkle - glad your scan went well, I can't imagine what it must be like having twins, I'm struggling enough with 1 in there! Hope you're ok.

Oh my god, don't remind me, can't believe going to have a baby in less than 10 weeks! So much to do before then.. I just hope it doesn't come early!

sweetkitty · 09/05/2008 17:13

So lets talk names - have been on the name threads today, whats everyones thoughts/ideas/definites? As it's not RL we can tell on here -

DD3 is definitely Bethany probably Bethany Grace (just noticed Grace was most popular name for 2007).

mcchesers · 09/05/2008 17:19

On slings, I bought a hugabub sling off ebay last week based on very high recommendation. We shall see..it's all about what the babe likes anyway but damn they are not cheap! I'd just prefer to use that to get across the street for milk than getting the whole pram out and lugging it down the stairs.

Muff maintenance this weekend then ladies? Y'all are so funny. When I asked about some help with the clippers, my DH asked if he needed to use a tongue depressor. He has a dark sense of humour.

SK- my house is for sure getting to me. I've also got two cats and it's as if they projectile shed fur everywhere. The painters left a lot of dust on the floors and I don't even have a mop, just a swiffer. The living room is finally painted but there's little patches here and there that were missed. He says he will come back Monday and fix it..great.

We did hire a lady to do a spring clean this Sunday and I'm hoping that will get me to stop twitching about how nasty the floor in the bathroom is and all the places I can no longer reach without cursing.

sweetkitty · 09/05/2008 17:20

mcchesers - I have 3 cats and 2 toddlers can you imagine the state of my house?

isaidno · 09/05/2008 17:34

SK - I can't summon the enthusiasm for housework either. Although today I cleaned out the cupboard under the stairs - pretty pointless when the rest of the house is a bombsite. I think I may go sit in the cupboard tonight!

Names - I think this little one is Poppy Elizabeth, but I haven't told anyone in real life because someone is bound to make a face and put me off!

Libra1975 · 09/05/2008 17:46

We have deffo decided on Alexander George if it's a boy. Still shilly-shallying if it's a girl but at the moment Hannah is the only name we both can sort of agree on.

Housework????

MINNIE1 · 09/05/2008 17:48

SK
On the house issue, it so hard to be cleaning and trying to keep the house tidy when there are two small lo's runnign around. I do the kitchen and hall way sitting room and washing. Then i am fit for bed! I really cant keep on top of the rest.. Do it when i can cause i hate mess and clutter.

On names i have none!! really dont know what to call this one..
I do like
Gemma
Shane
I have no others what so ever..

Libra1975 · 09/05/2008 18:46

Also I lied it's alexander phillip, I have no idea why I keep saying alexander george. Prenancy brain.

I like Gemma.

jocesar · 09/05/2008 18:59

I've got bump envy! The bumps I've seen all look lovely. Mine's a bit ugly- in fact I've got 2!! I've got the normal baby bump- carrying very high and not too big (is a boy)which is lovely but then I've got a 2nd bump underneath which is purely excess fat. That's the bit I'm ashamed of. I've put on 12kg but thankfully none has gone to my arse!

Have just bought a bikini trimmer- a lawn mower may have been a better choice. Now I'm going to have to work out how to get there- I have really struggled with the mirror as everything is back to front and pregnant brain cannot cope! no way will I ask DH to help- I wouldn't subject anyone to that!

Any tips to get a transverse baby to get into the correct position so I don't have to have a CS on the NHS?
