isaidno · 09/05/2008 19:08

Jocesar - mine's transverse too. No need to worry yet, but the best way to get them to move is by gravity - so standing, walking, etc. Been trying to sit on my gym ball to open the pelvis so she can slip down. Lounging is not the best way. I'm hoping my placenta is not still low lying (scan 1 week on Monday to see) as this could be stopping the upside down thing.

My feet are boiling - anyone else? Sprayed some peppermint cooling stuff on them, but that just made them smell better.

isaidno · 09/05/2008 19:15

just googled and apparently lying on a tilted board with head 40 degrees lower than feet is the most recommended exercise for shifting a transverse baby! Shining a torch and playing music through headphones at the pubic area while doing this may help!

Also walking on your hands in a swimming pool

cass66 · 09/05/2008 19:36

hello all. jocesar, you have just described MY bump, neat high baby bump (don't know what sex but really want to know now!!) and then fat bulge underneath. I will always have an overhang due to 2 (soon to be 3) sections.

on the positive, I have found an outfit to wear to my friends 40th party next week. a black and white spotty longish top in size 16 from Evans. looks great with slightly tight black trousers. however, needs heels, and my feet are beginning to swell - I'll go shoe shopping next week and also buy some party feet things, they are supposed to help?! have also booked a pedicure as I can't reach my feet anymore. oh the joys!!

am enjoying the weather, might go camping tomorrow. this is about hot enough for me though!

all your bumps are fab. they make me feel better as they are all as big as mine! I got really upset this week as a playgroup mum implied I was HUGE for only (?!) 30 weeks. cow.

someone asked re the baby whisperer book. I really liked it, it wasn't too prescriptive (I'm not a fan of gina ford) and made sense to me and my babies. will try to remember to re read it soon. I have almost finished a really thought provoking book, 'we have to talk about Kevin' by lionel shriver, about a mum trying to work out why her son became a mass murderer. I found it interesting and would recommend it!

am absolutely knackered and not anaemic, so can't blame that, just my busy weekly routine of school, playgroup, ballet, swimming, gym club etc and work 2 days a week, another 5 weeks to go. afternoon nap, just when???? first time pregnant mums, enjoy your time alone, it is precious and won't happen again!! cass.

cass66 · 09/05/2008 19:39

oh, and I second the wilkinet, easy to use, comfy and washable!!

dont recommend the name kevin though!!!

mummypig · 09/05/2008 20:49

hi everyone

Feeling a bit miserable today as the physio basically told me to get off my feet, including getting someone else to walk the kids to and from school every day. She said gentle swimming and yoga would be fine (as long as I avoid stuff that is obviously bad like crossed or wide open legs, and breaststroke). I really don't want to be treated like an invalid for the next eight weeks but I also don't want the spd to get worse, so I am wracking my brain for friends who might be available and willing to do the school run.

Now wearing one of the terribly unsexy belt things but I was right in the middle of sizes so have the medium which isn't really tight enough. Need to get some sew-on velcro to make it fit better.

Then I couldn't get into the house when I came back home as our front door lock seems to be knackered. Luckily ds1 managed to climb through a back window and unlocked the back door for me. Also dp is feeling sympathetic and is currently trying to get the boys to bed for me. (This weather has meant they just aren't going to sleep for ages.)

Anyway just wanted to say that postnatal doulas will pretty much help with anything you want - basic cleaning and tidying, keeping the kids busy, taking the baby while you have a rest, even cooking food for you. The only things my doula said she wouldn't do were drive the car or ironing. But I can see why a cleaner seems like a good option for you, sweetkitty, and if that's the help you specifically need it's probably cheaper to get a cleaner than a doula. lol about your dp being an expert though

Also agree that Baby Bjorn pretty useless. I bought one because I was conned by the Gold Award in Mother and Baby Magazine. I used it for ds1 but it was never terribly comfy, and with ds2 i found his legs dangling between my legs really didn't help the spd to go. Our yoga teacher sells Wilkinets and lots of people find them great. But I did a fair bit of research on the net and tried out a couple of different types and ended up with a Kozy Carrier. It didn't take long to get used to tying it and then it was very versatile. I even used to put ds2 on my back when I was cooking.

Getting achy again now, obviously even my sitting posture is pretty bad. Time to go.

pigleychez · 09/05/2008 20:56

Hi everyone.

Disneystar- Glad baby is back to wriggling around providing reassurance for you.

Peanut- Lovely bump pics
And your tiny little knitted cardi's are beautiful! Put my basic blanket to shame.

SK- Id love a cleaner! Name wise, we have currently settled on Matthew George and Abigail Rose.

Mcchesers- Your parcel sounds lovely My mums neighbour (who has watched me grow up) sent me a lovely book the other week. Said she saw it and thought of me. Shes a pensioner with not alot of spare cash so though it was a really sweet thought. The book is actually a book from MUMSNET. Has 1000's of tips from mums that posted on here on all sorts of baby subjects. Very Appropriate book

Heffa- Glad your cat returned safe and sound. Niether DH or I like Fruit cake so we had the chocolate. One tier was was sponge and the others choc.
Its our first anniversary in June and i was thinking of contacting our cake maker to see if she would make a small cake the same as we only got a tiny bit each!

My ankles have seemed abit puffier lately, probably the heat.

All those Potty training- Persevere! You will get there in the end. Ive done plenty of potty training in my many years as a nursery nurse. Nothing worse than pooey pants though!

Got a letter today about my Antenatal classes. They start on 4th June when im 34 weeks. Nice to know they are now booked as time seems to be going too quickly.

Had some very odd comments lately from the parents of the children i look after. Some have only just realised that im pregnant even though i see them everyday/week. Some of the crackers ive had:

  • Oh i only just realised your expecting!.. How many weeks are you?...30 weeks..Oh! I though you were going to say you were about 3mths! (mum of 2)

  • So your pregnant then... Whens its due?... July...What Next July?... mmm no! (dad of 4!)

  • How you feeling?...fine thanks....Have you had your first scan yet?...mmmm yes ive only 9 weeks left! (mum of 2)

I know my work t-shirt is very baggy but come on!! I know bumps not big but surely it looks more than 3mths!!

Just added a couple of pics of bump. One in my attractive work tshirt and one in my own clothes to compare.
Let me know what you think.... looking at them i dont think the work tshirt makes me look much smaller?

sweetkitty · 09/05/2008 21:16

Evening all loving all the names on here

pigley - beautiful names even though I am quite biased having an Abigail myself. I think as we have been cosied up in jumpers and jackets all Winter suddenly our bumps are on display which makes people comment on them.

mummypig - it's alright the physio saying keep off your feet but it's not like that in reality, I definitely feel a lot better at weekends when DP is here than during the week. DD1's nursery is 20 mins walk away down (and up) a steep hill and there is no way I could walk it. I'm lucky I have the car but driving hurts (flexing my foot between the pedals) and getting in and out. Luckily the DDs can get themselves in and out the car sears now. I think the doula would be good but long term a cleaner is probably better maybe I can get her to tackle the ironing too. Have heard good things about wilkinets too.

cass - baby whisperer didn't work for us, I have had one great sleeper one nightmare maybe I'm for one inbetween this time

jocesar/isaidno - plenty of time for baby to turn get bouncing on those balls and get on all fours as much as possible

libra/minnie/isaidno - lovely names too

isaidno · 09/05/2008 21:18

no, that's a pretty big bump pigley - I think you have been commented on by blind people.

Kaz1967 · 09/05/2008 21:31

pigleychez it is a beautiful Bump anyone who it's the size of 3 months must have been the size of an elephant at delivery or carrying quads. Looks perfect size for someone due in July

pigleychez · 09/05/2008 21:40

Thanks guys.
Thats exactly what i was thinking. Far too big for 3mths!

Odd odd people

mcchesers · 09/05/2008 23:11

ok going to have to get my bump out this weekend pigley. We have the same EDD and everyone I see looks at me as if I am gonna drop any minute.

disneystar · 10/05/2008 06:42

i want to get a birthing ball but where from?
any ideas please

bebejones · 10/05/2008 06:45

It's too hot to sleep!!!! Feeling utterly miserable and knackered! So have reconnected internet after the 'big move'!!!! Havent had a proper catch up yet.

Pigley - Totally agree with everyone, it's a perfect 30week bump. Am very envious, mine just feels like fat, think coz it's a girl it's the stereotypical 'all around' type of bump! Or maybe its the large amounts of cake I have eaten this week?!?!

Had 28 week appointment with midwife this week. Everything fine and I measure bang on 28cm!! And the clever little thing is head down, keeping everything crossed she stays that way! Also had dentist appointment, just a check up and that was all fine too, except she told me off for my back teeth not being clean! How do you explain to your Swedish dentist that when you stick a toothbrush anywhere near the back of your mouth you want to heave?!?! I'm doing my best, but the heatwave has brought MS back with a bit of a vengence! Although ever since I was little I have got very sick when too hot, so maybe its a combination?

SPD has been a bit of a nightmare this week, have been walking around alot as I have been so uncomfortable in the heat. Plus LO has been doing washing machine impersonations for the last 3 nights so have had V little sleep! Cant believe that I still have 12 weeks to go....please God dont let it get any hotter, I may have to invest in a paddling pool so I can wallow in the garden!!

One of my friends was due on Thurs...still no sign of baby (my Godson, very excited!!) She is miserable bless her, and enormous, think he might be a whopper, fingers crossed she has him soon, the suspense is killing all of us!!

After saying for ages we were going to wait til baby was here before picking a name we have actually settled on Phoebe Elizabeth Emma, with a boy backup (just in case) of Oliver Thomas.

Re baby slings, DH has forbidden us having one, he is terrified of falling and hurting baby, I did point out it is highly unlikely, and your instinct would be to put your arms out etc. But the man from Bristol he say no!

Had a massive hysteria session on Monday when I had a panic over giving birth. Been in denial so long that it all just came out that I am completely terrified! Really hoping that antenatal classes might ease the worrry. Book I have been reading upset me when I read that baby might feel pain and be scared......still plays on my mind loads, but DH is right when he says she wont remember it. Just really upset me, must be the crazy pregnant hormones!

Anyway, sorry for the massive ramble, off to get breakfast now. Wardrobe and changing unit to erect today....need my weetabix!!

bebejones · 10/05/2008 07:10

Disney - Argos have a sale on Gym balls at moment 75cm Gym ball is just over £10. Thinking of getting one myself as physio says it might help the SPD!

www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3024117/Trail/searchtext>GYM+BALL.htm

isaidno · 10/05/2008 08:24

Tesco also sell gym balls quite cheap. A proper birthing ball is bigger, but I've always been fine with the gym ball.

sweetkitty · 10/05/2008 08:53

Morning all, I have the argos gym ball it's great make sure you get a decent pump for it though.

Woke up with cramp in my leg last night, ouch forgot about that one, you could feel the muscle all taut which is amazing I didn't think I had any muscles left.

pigley - lovely bump

It's strange to think that we all have different shapes and sizes of bumps but in July they will all be producing the same thing, DD1 has decided the baby comes out my bum as she saw it on TV I told her only poo comes out your bum but haven't elaborated anymore. I thought about telling her Mummies have a special "tunnel" for the baby to come through. I want to be honest with them but don't know.

Everyone keeps telling me I am so small and neat for 9 weeks to go, I don't think I am though but I suppose I am just a bump, it will just keep on growing and growing now don't they put on half a pound a week now or something and we put on a pound. Told DP that last night when I was scoffing chocolate the baby is making me eat she needs to put fat on!

Right DP is off on his 22 mile run today so am holding the fort until he comes back then the two of us will be hobbling around like old women!

mcchesers · 10/05/2008 09:22

Morning..DH is making a spinach omelet for us yum.

Names..we like Aidan..and Robert if he doesn't look like an Aidan.

bebejones- I had the same labour hysteria yesterday. I mean on one hand it's sort of out of our control..but I think it's just that I've not been through the antenatal classes and haven't even started my birth plan yet. I'm thinking the more info we are armed with, the more confident we will be. hopefully.

SK- I got a gym ball and can still do the exercises that my old physio had suggested and I do think it makes a difference. Sadly DH had to buy a chair from IKEA because the futon couch we have leaves me in agony.

Hope the sun makes an appearance today in Glasgow

purplejennyrose · 10/05/2008 11:18

Morning all - dh and dd gone into town so I'm still in PJs...
Depressing follow-up with physio yesterday - she was very cheery, telling me I'm doing everything right now, no more advice or help she can offer, the pain will remain as it is until birth and after...Very frustrating.
On the plus side, got measured for bras - bit early but hey -and came out as 34DD - double d!!! That's hilarious, as I've always had such small boobs, and even with dd1 didn't get much bigger!

disneystar · 10/05/2008 11:49

names we have are samuel which we liked all along but last night i had a dream then i went into labour had the baby before anyone could get to me
i wish
and when DH walked in i said sorry i called him alfie now where did that come from?
as for bra,s i was a dd before pregnant i am now a 36g spilling out over my vest tops as im taking a break from gardening DH thinks its halarious but it does give him funny ideas
told him i have a headache

MINNIE1 · 10/05/2008 13:03

Afternoon all,

Had a horrible night again last night! keep waking with terrible bump pain! I cant turn or get out of bed! Even managed to wake DP with it. So was up twice with that and the only way i could sleep was to sit up in bed!

Went food shopping with DD's this morning as DP is working AGAIN! (he is busy though and i should'nt complain but i am) DD1 which i am potty training ended up in a nappy going around the shop and DD2 kept trying to jump out of the trolly!! fewwwwww that feels better! How the hell am i going to manage with 3..

Disney
Love the name Samuel

SK
How many miles !! Bless him. Site to see you both this evening. How is your SPD?

Poledra · 10/05/2008 14:20

MINNIE1, I have one thing to say to you - online shopping. The lovely Tesco's man will be here tomorrow with the shopping I did online last night while lying on the sofa. Will save me the problems I had in the local shops today, as I have had a stinking cold and sore throat with loss of voice. Was whispering hoarsely yesterday, which amused dh no end. I am sooooo tired though, I couldn't even be bothered getting angry with him. Hardest thing is trying to explain to dd2 (2YO) that, no, Mummy can't read a story right now.

MINNIE1 · 10/05/2008 14:31

I think that is something i will have to start doing, it would save alot of hassel.. Will have a look at it tonight and see.. Off to the bakers for some cake.. lets hope it wont be a task and a half..

TJuice · 10/05/2008 16:01

god, it so scorching here! and i haven't done laundry in weeks so i am stretching out my vintage halter dresses and slopping around in flipflops!

mcchesers - i think they work out the weight by measuring and estimating based on length??? something like that anyway.

hope everyone is enjoying the weather and the soleros. . . .

i am going to have a kip. I cooked for my neighbours and friends yesterday and went to bed at 2.30 (I was surprised how much fun i can have on one tiny glass of wine these days!) so I am shattered today.

bebejones · 10/05/2008 16:22

Feeling very pleased with myself as DH and I have finished ALL the nursery flat pack!! Hoorah!!! Have put everything in drawers etc so it isn't scattered around the house any longer and feel alot calmer...or is that just because Im knackered?!?! Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather....2moro I tackle the garden. Going to attack the foot high grass with the strimmer...cant wait!!

isaidno · 10/05/2008 17:53

I think my nesting instinct is kicking in. I spent all afternoon cleaning the kitchen - even wiping the skirting board

Congrats on the flatpack bebe!
Hope you had a nice snooze tjuice!

Disney - like the name Samuel, and lol at your "headache"...
