Morning all, there are some very tidy bumps out there! I have grown everywhere mostly due to food consumption rather than baby maybe I should have taken up knitting instead. Peanuts those little clothes are adorable!

SK- think cleaner rather than doula is a great idea, as I would presume that you know what is going on during labour (even tho I understand it would be nice to have support)

Today I am feeling very sexy which is a bit odd, this morning refused to wear my work trousers which frankly make my butt look horrible so threw on some green maternity combats, a white maternity vest which is quite long and then on top just an ordinary pre-pregnancy green vest and a pre-pregnancy grey hoodie. Thanks to my new C/Ds I actually have a cleavage. Hair up but in proper clip and basic jewellery.
Sexy in a very low maintenance way!! Slummy Mummy in the making. (ok whose teeth did I set on edge with that phrase?)

Also has anyone ever worn trouser braces? I think over the bump trousers are going to be too warm in summer but under the bump keep falling down so I am thinking of channelling Annie Hall.

Everyone looking forward to the weekend?

mcchesers · 09/05/2008 10:32

Kaz - well done woo hoo!

Peanut- lookin foxy

Oh my god, you girls are all so lovely with your bumps. I'll wait until my overalls/dungarees arrive from Texas and then I'll post my "barefoot and preggers in the kitchen" photos. Have lost all interest in shoes.

Tjuice- how can they tell the baby's weight? My mom asked me that yesterday. no clue.

Went to the mw yesterday and it was a quick check, in and out and all going well. She said he's perfect for his size and that all was on course. Then I stopped in to use the lav, and why they have a full few mirror in the wee room, I have no idea...but I came face to face with what had been growing underneath my bump. sorry if TMI, Oh my God...so far beyond waxing... and looking like Willie Nelson down yonder. I've just about talked my DH into helping me trim the garden this weekend. scary!!!

Nice surprise I got a lovely prenatal parcel from a friend's wife today with bath oil, belly butter, and a perfume roll on. How sweet!

Heffa · 09/05/2008 10:45

Kaz - congratulations on the sale!

Disney - glad to hear babe is moving again!

Pigley - sorry to hear about your moany boss. People comment that I'm going off early as well, but that's just using up vacation. And besides, I feel like it's needed. White chocolate wedding cake sounds yummy! I wanted a chocolate one but MIL insisted on doing a fruit cake.

Argh, I'm so knackered today. We've just moved and the cat is finally allowed outside (couldn't do it at the last house). Daft moggy disappeared yesterday evening so we were up till 3.30AM panicking about her, and absolutely convinced she was lying flat somewhere Luckily she suddenly turned up, soaking wet and covered in twigs, and fell asleep on the bed so very relieved but utterly exhausted.

It does sound like a bit of an over-reaction on our parts, but I am a bit over-protective of the cat (and stupidly hormonal at the moment).

We watched Knocked Up as well last night, which was OK, although I spent most of it complaining about inaccuracies or annoying details. I'm turning into my dad although he only does that with ships in war movies

JODIEhavingababy · 09/05/2008 11:03

Morning

Disney - glad to hear your OK again today! It's abit of a worry isn't it when that happens!

Everyone who's potty training, good luck, I thought about it at christmas, but I think DS is still abit young, I bought a book and everything! But it did say that if you were expecting a baby fairly soon then not to try until baby is in a 'routine' of sorts... But thats only because DS is young! I'm dreading it!

PEANUT, wow how attractive is your baba going to be, you and your DH are beautiful! And your knitting is lovely! Esp like the jedi cardi/wrap thing, it's great!

TJUICE - That outfit is/was great, pity it was so uncomfy! I love wearing clothes like that normally, but you can really pull it off with your height and figure!

KAZ - congrats with the sale, I'll keep everything crossed for a quick move for you now!

I've been getting REALLY itchy feet (on the bottom).. Is this normal? It drives me mad, esp. at night, I put on cream, but it just makes my feet feel sweaty..... I've taken to not wearing socks or slippers when walking around now too.... Any ideas?

Libra1975 · 09/05/2008 11:14

Jodie there is some information here:
www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/antenatalhealth/physicalhealth/itchyskin/

They don't really have any good recommendations however. How about putting some cooling peppermint foot lotion in the fridge for a couple of hours and then getting your OH to give you a foot rub!

JODIEhavingababy · 09/05/2008 11:17

THats fab Libra, can stop worrying now!! (til the next time!) Thanks for that..

Kaz1967 · 09/05/2008 11:18

sweetkitty 2 advantages this bloke wants this house done up and ready for the university year to rent out to students (part of one uni 10 mins walk away others 10 mins on bus) secondly my best mates husband where I am moving to works for the firm I am using and he has a big vested interest in getting me up there

Did some shopping on Wed for hospital bag me PJ's for hossy and some gert big maternity pads for padding an comfort, and baby itsy bitsy hat, tiny socks and a little cardi all cream with teddy bears on. Mum is coming up in a just over a week with the stuff she has just in case little one decided to come early

Just cancelled my GTT again the midwife never got back to me about what to get other than lucusade (local chemists being useless) I forgot I was not supposed to be eating and had the usual snack at 4am. I had a chat with the nurse (and a nurse friend couple of weeks ago) and have made up my mind just because it is part of the protocol for us women who have a raised BMI is not a good enough reason to be put through feeling crap all day (because I will if I don't eat 2-4 hourly). Got a consultant appointment on Monday an going to make a real pain of myself they want me to have it they are going to have to do some proper convincing and give me the bloody research which proves it is needed.

JODIEhavingababy · 09/05/2008 11:31

I'm so excited!! I've just had a look at the home page and I made it to tip of the day!!!! Wow I feel like a regular now!!!!

I'm so so sad!

Libra1975 · 09/05/2008 11:37

loving the fact it's about alcohol!!

gillythekid · 09/05/2008 11:39

Posting from atop my bouncy ball, hence no discernable back pain when I stand up, yay!! Maybe baba will squirm round the right way soon. So lovely to see everyone's pics, must get DH to take some, been resisting due to feeling fat and frumpy (thanks to my mother) but have accepted that I'm now 2 stone over my natural weight and still got 10 or so weeks to go so what can I do?
Have a lovely day everyone and enjoy the sunshine, even if it's only for 5 minutes at lunch or on the way home.

JODIEhavingababy · 09/05/2008 11:41

I think it must be the sunshine coz I've been thinking about alcohol ALOT recently and I'm not a big drinker at the best of times!!! Loving my lager shandy's at the moment!

Libra1975 · 09/05/2008 11:45

Pimms. * sighs *

EEC · 09/05/2008 11:49

Heffa, sorry to hear about your cat. I know exactly how you feel. We too have just moved and have only just let cat out over the last few days. All seemed to be going well, and he had worked out the cat flap etc but then didn't come home last night. Panic..... I had a completely sleepless night worrying about what to tell my daughter (it's her cat, only 1 year old, which we got to replace the last cat that was killed by a couple of visitor's terriers - witnessed by her!)

Thank the lord it came home for breakfast this morning. What traumas.

Exhausted today. All bump pictures lovely.

Jodie - I often have really itchy feet - especially in pregnancy, all the time - Have never quite got to the bottom of it. The nly thing that helps me is emersing them in freezing cold water for as long as I can bare. (usually the water from the tap is cold enough if it runs for a while first). It might help.

isaidno · 09/05/2008 12:02

peanut you have a lovely bump and lovely knitting! They say low is a girl, and carrying high is a boy if you're going by the old wives tales.

disneystar · 09/05/2008 12:29

are all you ladies gettin BH a lot now
cos im gettin tem maybe 10 times a day now or more some so extreme i have to stop cant walk with them
i also got woke up last night with them felt very odd indeed i have never had a false alarm in labour in the night and i knew it wasnt the real thing but it was very weird i had to walk around to ease it
i was very restless and agitated didnt help it was hot
its only lunchtime but going for a lie down for half hour while my sons on mario cart wii thats all i can hear in the background though

sweetkitty · 09/05/2008 12:31

Afternoon all, oh my bum is hurting today probably as I haven't sat down all morning took DD2 to the park it was empty just me and her playing on the swings, feel so bad for her as I can't be as physical as I want to be and also this is the last few months just me and her. Maybe it's the mad irrational pregnancy hormones and I feel I'm losing my baby. Felt like that last time as DD1 was so little and how was I going to ever feel the same about another LO but I now know it all works out fine.

EEC - thats horrid about the cat DD1 dotes on one of our cats and he's always at the vets with pee problems but she would go nuts if anything were to happen to him.

gilly - don't you worry about the weight, a lot of it will be extra fluid from the baby and it's amazing how it can fall off once they are born, time to think about it afterwards.

kaz - will keep everything crossed for you, where you are buying your new place?

mcchesers - you want to get yourself booked in for a wax I can just about reach to shave in the shower still.

libra - I think a cleaner is the best way to go, I think DP was a little put out that I suggested a doula is to support me in labour and can give him a rest, he said "SK it's only a couple of hours and since I have seen it all twice before I'm an expert )" we have been talking a lot about plans for when I do go into labour etc as worst case he could be stuck in rush hour Edinburgh traffic and be an hour+ away and it could be all over by then (or is that wishful thinking?)

Oh my friend had her baby last night a little boy called Jack 8lbs 2ozs think she was about 4 days overdue so not bad. Can't wait for the birth story she is the most squeamish person you will ever met and was dreading the whole indignity of it all. She was horrified when I recommended a jug for peeing afterwards bless her!

Peanut73 · 09/05/2008 12:39

Thanks isaidno - I secretly want a girl (but of course will be over the moon with a boy too!).

Hahahaha - I was going about my chores and kept coming back to the laptop and refreshing the screen and everytime, it was the same post at the bottom of the page... after doing this for about two hours and thinking "gosh, everyone is very quiet today" I went forward a page and voila! Everyone chatting away as usual! Duh!

Tjuice - thanks for the compliment although I just went onto the isabella oliver site and I'm sure those women are anorexic size zero models who have had bumps photoshopped onto them! Wish I could afford those lovely clothes. Seems a bit frivolous now with only 8 weeks to go though!

Libra - you sound hot - go you foxy lady!!

McChesers - frightening isn't it? To think our DHs have probably been looking at the undergrowth all this time thinking 'hooley wooley!"

Heffa - glad to hear kitty is ok. And also glad that I'm not the only one who obsesses over my cat/s. Just had the most ridiculous telephone conversation with DH about how he thinks our cat Wolfie is becoming too dominant because we spoil him too much and he now just walks around miaowing demandingly for food (e.g. ham, chicken breast, magnums) and turns his nose up at biscuits. We think he needs to be lowered a peg or two in the pack hierarchy. This is what happens when you leave having kids to the age of 34 - your cats end up being your surrogate children and turn into monsters!

Jodie - thanks for the kind words, and WELL DONE YOU with your tip. I for one will certainly be using your advice. And (sorry to all who are totally alcohol free) I intend on having an ice cold lager this afternoon in the back garden. Gee that was evil of me.

Kaz - GTTs are 'orrible things. I had one a month ago and it was normal, but now they want me to do another one as I had some more glucose in my wee. My LO had a big abdomen though too, which is a sign of diabetes.. not huge just at the 80th centile while all the rest of him/her is at the 50th...

Gilly - I'm sure you look lovely. According to the gurgle.com pregnancy weight gain calculator I am well 'overweight'. I've put on 2 stone too and have 8 weeks to go. Enjoy it, that's what I say.

Heffa · 09/05/2008 12:49

EEC and Peanut - glad I'm not the only one who obsesses over my cat! Really sorry to hear about your last cat EEC - that's horrible. Good to hear that your cat came back OK this morning as well - I think we need to get a cat flap since we ended up having to leave the back door open waiting for her.

I don't know how much weight I've put on - no-one's ever weighed me. Apart from giant bump, I don't feel much larger. That might be wishful thinking though.

Kaz1967 · 09/05/2008 12:52

disneystar My BH were so bad on Tuesday I actually rang delivery suite in tears. I have them every time I move or walk but they only hurt if I over do it.

I have ended up getting up and having a cool bath at 1-2am because I was too hot

Peanut73 · 09/05/2008 13:14

Question for all those who are already Mums and might know:

What do you consider to be the best baby carrier? The baby bjorn type, or a sling? Any suggestions?

Poledra · 09/05/2008 13:24

I have a baby bjorn which my sis gave me whne she was finished with it and I HATE it! The straps go over your shoulders and there's no waist strap so it kills my back after only 20 minutes or so. Friends have sworn by the Wilkinet one. I've told dh that I am buying a new sling for this baba - I don't need anything else for her but that's a must!
When they're a but oder, I have a HippyChick hipseat and absolutely love that. Link here

Poledra · 09/05/2008 13:26

Sod! Tried to stop the first post as I hadn't checked the spelling but failed. And still didn;t get all the spelling mistakes in the second one Sorry!

sweetkitty · 09/05/2008 13:57

Poledra - I'm still debating slings as well, I have a Baby Bjorn which I'm not too keen on and a Corry and Carry from Freedom Slings which DD2 screamed the house down in. Quite fancy one of those wrap types but I'm so useless at decisions.

Still no BHs here am sure they will be along soon and aren't too worried my body seems to have labour well sussed by now.

Just seen pics of friends new baby, he looks that newborn "I've just been through the worst day of my life" thing but utterly gorgeous and she did it all on just gas and air too.

Have done nothing this afternoon so far, it has been raining and didn't even bring the washing in. Really should get off here soon.

MINNIE1 · 09/05/2008 14:18

DD did a poo in the loo and a wee long may it last!!

Getting BH but not as many as i did with the girls.. Got one last night getting into bed and belly went rock hard. i was ow and ah for about 5 mins!
