My tummy will never be the same again but i have 2 fab daughters out of it. Thats what DP says to me. He knows all the right things to say when i ask him about it..

SK lol on the washing.. It will be soooo nice to see a line of white baby gro's freshly washed. Which reminds me i bought some yesterday even though i have some from DD's it's nice to have new one's for baby in hospital..

Feel the need to get hospital bag ready, Never felt like this with DD's.. Got baby gro's and vests yesterday and have to go to boots to stock up on pads for all areas! Which brings me to leaky boobs!!! I HAVE THEM ALREADY!! DP and i went for coffee sunday morning and DP said time to get the pads dear!! how sweet!

Hi Everyone

I am new here and would love to get involved! I'm on countdown to maternity leave - 4 weeks of work to go with LO (surprise) due on 8 July.

Sorry to hear about the pain so many of you are experiencing, it sounds awful!

LO couldn't stop moving last night and has decided to lie transverse which is uncomfortable enough - I have decided to take the day off work

Peanut

JODIEhavingababy · 06/05/2008 10:41

SK, Everything in my house is now either in the washing machine, waiting to be put in the washing machine, or on the line!!!!! MY DH has been laughing at me all morning coz I love seeing washing on the line...

Minnie - Meant to say earlier, Skyplus changed my life! I'm excited for you!

I've started to think about my hospital bag too, but I haven't got one. My MIL says I can borrow her little bag, but she needs it for her cruise next week, so I'll think about it when she gets back!

Libra1975 · 06/05/2008 10:49

At the moment I am feeling like I have eaten a starter, a huge roast dinner, pudding and then topped off with coffee and chocolates. Is this what the next 10 weeks are going to feel like?

Peanut - welcome I hope you have a garden to spend the day "getting better" in.

Sky+ rules, as I said to my DH last week when he wanted to watch the rugby on Sky instead of going to the cinema, the one thing that is not going to change when the baby comes thanks to the magic of Sky+ and Live pause is watching the rubgy. (We went to the late showing instead!)

Libra1975 · 06/05/2008 10:55

Why on earth are Skip Hop bags HALF the price in America that they are in the UK????

i got fed up with my maternity wear today and squeezed myself into a polka dot vintage dress with leggings a wide patent leather belt worn high and red and black ballet flats. thought i looked quite cute - got to work, ate some toast - off came belt. now i just had lunch and i feel like i will burst out of my dress! its not stretchy and i think i am constricting the kicky little minx too much. may have to go home and lie in park in loose clothing until we both get over the trauma.

i have nooooo work to do here and although its really chilled - i am getting the impression that they are not passing the writing jobs to me because they think i am a div now i'm pregnant . . . i should just enjoy it but since i am the first woman here to be up the duff, i wanted to make a good impression so they never think its a pain to employ women who may get pg.

i am loving the exchange rate, libra! just have to make sure you don't get stung with import tax. i have a friend picking my up a new ipod in the US at the moment - its one of those huge capacity ones and is almost half the price of buying it here in denmark. i don't really need 160GB but i am sure i will fill it up with crap. i had a theory about listening to mp3 books on tape while on maternity leave - how realistic is that??

re. grobags - I have three - one is supposed to be newborn but i was planning just to swaddle her for a few weeks - does this sound sensible?

one thing i am worried about at the moment is my addiction to ear plugs. it started when we had a really moany cat a few years ago and now i totally need the silence in order to get to sleep. when i have tried to break the habit - i just can't sleep at all. dp is a little bit snorey but not obnoxiously so but obviously i can't have earplugs in with baby next to me in a crib, can I???

by the way - grobags are really cheap in TKMaxx if you have one near you.

JODIEhavingababy · 06/05/2008 12:13

Welcome Peanut, must have crossed posts before. Afew pages back there is a list of us all, feel free to add your details, but if your new, I can do it for you... Is it your first? Do you know what your having. It's starting to get exciting isn't it!

I moved DS into his 'big boys' room yesterday and he slept in his bed last night. He was wonderful, no fuss at all! didn't even attempt to climb out this morning when he woke up! I hope this behaviour continues! He just looks so grown up. I'm so glad I'm pregant again as I would be super broody now my 'baby' is disappearing!

Peanut73 · 06/05/2008 12:13

Libra - Haha! I do indeed! Is it wrong to lie outside basking in the sunshine in my maternity nightie?!

Also, I just noticed the change bag price difference too! That's criminal! Do you think we should buy ours from the US site instead. 'Rip-off Britain' strikes again!

Also, just wanted to add that I have started noticing annoying little skin tags on my underarms too. I naughtily pulled one off yesterday as it was annoying me so much - probably the worst thing you can do!

CilC I use kgs too (I'm from downunder) and have put on 16kg so far (I'm 31 weeks today). I haven't seen my thighs this big before and try not to look at them. I find I'm not walking around in the nude in the bedroom in front of DH as much as I used to...

Peanut73 · 06/05/2008 12:22

JODIE thank you . I scrolled all the way back and tried to figure out how to add to your list but failed. : (

Due date: 8 July. Sex: surprise. First pregnancy!

Thank you. Oh - I live in London. x

Another vote for grobags here - I love them! As long as the baby can't slip down inside them they are ok from birth. SK is right though - it will prob be too warm to use them at first. Tjuice - you might find swaddling makes the baby hot. DS1 was born in July and just wore a sleepsuit and nappy, with no covers at night.

Tjuice - you made me laugh with your clothes problem! I have given up trying to look cute and just sticking with looking presentable! Belts, wherever they are worn, are a bit of a pg no no IMO!!

MINNIE1 · 06/05/2008 12:39

Jodie
Glad you have your DS in big bed, i felt the same as you when DD went into hers. I kept saying my baby is all grown up.. She loves hers, get in at night and stays there. She will get up and jump in beside me in the morning.. As for sky+ why didnt i get it b4!!!

Peanut
Welcome

Cleaned the bathroom and my room only the rest of the house to go!

FenLondon · 06/05/2008 12:48

They're not kidding about this "nesting" thing are they - had overwhelming urge over the long weekend to get things shipshape... One moss-free patio now ready for summer - added benefit is that doing the work's on-all-fours time. Or is that just a myth perpetrated by male obs/gyn to make us wash kitchen floors on our hands and knees in the last few weeks?

Peanut73 · 06/05/2008 12:53

Wow - lucky number 14 it seems!!

Right - am off to soak up some sunshine and read more baby related material.

DH just rang (he thinks I am sooo lazy) and told me to google sunshine on the bump... he seems to think it's good for the baby. Gee, it makes me laugh when men chip in with their two cents worth!

Will check in later. Have a great day gals!
x

JODIEhavingababy · 06/05/2008 13:24

I love the sunshine, Just been out to hang yet more washing on the line and it's so warm I got my book and read a few chapters. Lush. Going to pick DS up from nursery now, got to pop into town so might go to park and get us both an ice cream!

isaidno · 06/05/2008 13:27

I am eating my 2nd solero!
Not through greed - DS2 insisted on having one like mine, took 3 licks and didn't like it. So I had to tidy it up!

Libra1975 · 06/05/2008 14:07

Soleros don't technically contain enough ice-cream to count as bad food. In fact they are practically a fruit portion.

CilC · 06/05/2008 14:16

Welcome Peanut - I too am from down under!

I have spent the morning at a cafe in the sunshine drinking smoothies and reading paper followed by trashy gossip mag. It was bliss!

I put on this top I thought looked really nice on w/end for bbq with friends. After eating I realised my bump was pushing boobs out of top...DH came over and suggested it was a bit too much. I of course pretended to get cross but he was right!!!! Had to nip home and put boring stretchy bump space top on. Must admit it did feel much better - always a good thing to wear clothes that enable you to breathe properly!

Heffa · 06/05/2008 14:31

I've been away for ages, sorry! We were moving house and life got horribly stressful for a while. Still, nice and settled now and back to MN!

How is everyone? I'm OK although starting to get a bit more uncomfortable with bigger bump now. Looking forward to maternity leave though (3 days left! Although that's still 2 weeks).

It's so exciting to be in the third trimester though!

sweetkitty · 06/05/2008 15:23

Friend just away and we are inside having a break from the sun. Today I have maternity t-shirt on with some cropped jean trouser things that are size 10 (were too big last year ) but with the button undone. Have dug out 2 other pairs of cropped trousers that were too big too so reckon I could get into them as well am going to get a bit of the elastic from the DDs trousers and loop it through the top buttons. My friend has a few size 12 summer things she is going to give me as well, she had a July baby last year, hard to think as he's now really chubby and itching to walk that will be us next year. I'm going to get some v cheap strappy tops too theres no way I am buying clothes for 2 months.

This heatwave has caught us all unaware, DD1 has no shorts, they don't have sunglasses or hats that really fit or sandals as last week they were wearing boots!

heffa - welcome back

Who mentioned solero's they are my faves

RUMPEL · 06/05/2008 16:03

Hi All - God you don't clock in for a coupla days and spend hours trying to catch up!!!

Just back form a few nights at Crieff Hydro - had alovely pre-natal massage anda reflexology - DH had a couple of back/shoulder massages (I used to give him them regularly but he has been neglected the past 2 years). DD went to creche for 11/2 hours a day and loved the swimming pool. She loves the water but our local pool closed and then new one doesn't opne until nexyt year.

Weather = glorious so been potting up fruit and veg in my greenohouse. Burnt my back yesterday = very stupid lopads of skin cancer in my family. Was only hanging out washing and in the garden for a wee while.

RE Sleeping bags - DD had to be swaddles form birth until about 5 months - but she loves her sleeping bags now. She is a wriggler at night.

RE moles - none here.

PIGLEY - agree you are mad to spend that much - might look good but I would be more inclined to spend the money on some treatments for yourself post-birth that's just me though!

RE BRAXTON HICKS - I was really worried last Thursday as I thought I might be in early labour. had a really busy day on Wednesday and had BH all day Thursday that were quite sore - like early labour. Rested all day and most of Friday so am okay now. Much worse BH this time than with DD. I am thinking that I won't make it until full-term with this one - I am sure I am going to go early - just feel so different and baby movements are so strong that my whole body jumps with them!

RE Weight - sod it - I will worry about it after baby comes along. Time to get fit and healthy again and rediscover my muscle tone

RE Perineal massage - I did that from 34 weeks last time - with calendula oil. Used to sit on the edge of the bed and put my feet on the wall and do it. I still tore though! Also drank raspberry leaf tea form 36 weeks last time - jury is hung on that one!

Anyway must go awaken DD or she will never sleep tonight.

Take care all...
xxxxx

mummypig · 06/05/2008 17:35

wow rumpel I am so jealous of your time at Crieff Hydro mind you dp and i did go to Pennyhill Park for my birthday in Jan so I shouldn't complain.

Hello peanut, which area of London are you in (roughly)? I am in Surrey but not too far from SW London.

Don't have time to catch up with everyone's messages but I am appreciating the weather too - as long as I don't spend too much time on my feet! I am definitely feeling very heavy and the spd is getting worse so walking down the road to school is about as much as I can manage. We went into town at the weekend and I got pretty knackered and had to do funny yoga positions in the evening to try to relieve my pelvic area a bit. The boys and I had lunch in the garden today though and it was lovely. Feeling very positive about my veg this year as well. I put out my green beans yesterday and planted some carrot seeds today. Must pot up my tomatoes and chillies soon.

I didn't do any perineal massage either time and have never torn, so I'm not bothering this time either. I did drink raspberry leaf tea and already have mine in the cupboard ready for the 36wk mark.

Haven't weighed myself since I got pregnant, and I won't weigh myself too soon after the babe arrives, not until he's about 6 months old in any case. I might hop on the scales at 40 weeks just for a laugh though.

isaidno · 06/05/2008 17:50

You can take raspberry leaf tea from 32 wks - I'm buying mine next time i'm in town. I usually start at 32 weeks with 1 cup a day and build it up. I think you can't take the capsules until later as they are stronger.

I swear it helped with my labours and I have friends who agree.

sweetkitty · 06/05/2008 18:08

I have taken the capsules from 33 weeks each time can't drink the tea at all. Don't know if it works but hey if it shortens labour by 5 mins worth every penny.

Rumpel - at your lovely break. Don't want to burst your bubble but I hadn't even a twinge with the first beforehand, the second I thought I was in labour every day had terrible pressure downstairs, tonnes of BHs real sore and horrible and she was still 12 days overdue, I think the more you have the more BHs you have (minipink and paula can confirm )

On a more positive note have phoned the maternity physio and they are phoning me back with an appointment so we shall see.
