ButterflyMcQueen · 06/05/2008 18:24

hello all - after about the two most hormonally disgusting days of my life i am beginning to feel human again

i have been evil in the extreme and no one has hated me more than myself not sleeping well and becoming a bit anxious about it which exacerbates the problem

gorgeous day - i really love my house and garden - been in it 9 months now and love being out doors with my toddler

i am with you all on the washing line! such fun!

tjuice i too have an ear plug addiction and feel i could no way sleep without them now. not had a prob with babies so far so dont worry. with me it blocks out all the annoying snuffles and bleats that babies do - but not the crying
(more's the pity! -joke!) i always wear mine

pigley i would spend that on highchair if you really love it.first dc and i keep mine in h/c for a good 2 1/2 years.i have tripp trapps and imo yours looks like it would wipe clean more easily
it will get the use - like a good pram.shop about see if you can source it more cheaply maybe

peanut welcome!

i look ugly!

my friend who is 3 -4 weeks ahead of me came today and she has gained only 2 lbs more than me! depressing. she weighed quite a bit more to start with but me and weight gain do not mix when pg - i have gained one stone 6 but was on the heavy side of my normal weight to start with. i wanted to stay below 2 stone gain but do not think its gonna happen

re breastfeeding - sadly i cling to the fat until i stop b/f - this time i may not do as long as too vain...
I know that is selfish and will definitely do a good few months but maybe not a year

glad its sunny for all - i sat out for bit and am burned - should learn - pg skin always burns faster

i love this thread - always read it even when i am too stern and hormonal to post so thanks everyone for keeping me sane!

EEC · 06/05/2008 18:27

mummypig - haven't weighed myself either and don't intend to - luckiliy the mf doesn't either. I do feel huge, but don't care really as know that I am in the normal range.

Had a really low day today - bursting into tears for no reason. Stupidly enough I think the sunshine triggered it off. I normally love sunny days, but now don't feel like going outside at all as I can't sit down in any comfy position, am tired and hot and bothered, and am worried about pigment. I sound like a real grump I know, but am so fed up and want to enjoy the summer, but doing anything is too muich effort. Moan moan moan.... Sorry

What does raspberry leaf tea do?

CilC · 06/05/2008 18:34

Hi Mummypig I am in Surrey near SW London also!
I have just booked a week at Bedruthan in Cornwall ...creche, spa, pools and beach! We were hoping to go to Sorrento/Capri but despite trying could not get travel insurance. Oh well at least if there is no sun, there will be lots of other ways to relax! Sooo glad I am going to have one final holiday before my little family becomes 4. I have never been there but have a freind who recommends it.
If anyone is also thinking of one final jaunt - I can recommend Calcot Manor! I had a wonderful relaxing time there.
I am not sure if it is the sunshine but have felt a lot better today, SPD not as bad, less nausea and more relaxed...hope it lasts a few more days...

CilC · 06/05/2008 18:40

Sorry to hear that EEC... Do you have a bf pillow? I put a towel outside and then got my pillow and made it into a circle and sat on that under a tree this afternoon while DD paddled in her splash pool. It was the only way could feel comfortable.
I found all my pigment things disappeared quickly after pregnancy - except skin flaps- so not too worried about those.

pigleychez · 06/05/2008 18:55

Wow! What a lot to catch up on!

Tjuice- theres currently one of those highchairs on Ebay that im keeping my eye on but i think it will go for too much anyway

Libra- Compleely agree that a list isnt a list unless it hand written! Which reminds me i need to do a few tonight.

EEC- I too am wanted to use growbags/sleeping bags. I have heard some many good things about them from friends. Glad you asked that question as i was wondering what age to start too.

re weight- Im now 30 weeks and went on the scales last night fearing the worst. Not too bad though... put on 11 lbs so far.

re moles/skin tags- I have always had one under my arm and i caught it last night which was pretty painful. Must admit it does seems a little bigger.
My freckles always stand out more in the summer but ive noticed even more on my face lately.

Minnie- Leaky boobs? thats me- but only when squeezed at the mo

Peanut- Welcome aboard!

SK- glad your feeling brighter and things are lookin up

First timer question- What does the Raspberry leaf tea do?

of all you doing the washing. Id love to clear the washing pile building up but being at work all day means im limited to the amount i can do. Cant wait till Im on materniy leave and have all day to do it.
On that note---
I start 2 weeks annual leave next thursday before i start my maternity leave. So 7 days of work left!!!!

On the subject of washing- ive read different things about washing new baby clothes before wearing them to remove any chemicals ect and others say not to detag anything incase you dont use it and can then take it back.
Whats everyone elses thoughts/feelings on this? What did you do before?

isaidno · 06/05/2008 19:52

raspberry leaf tones the uterus and is supposed to make labour more effective and shorter. There is no conclusive proof that it works - but worth a try! FWIW I do not know anyone who drank it who had a bad labour.

pigleychez · 06/05/2008 19:59

What does Raspberry leaf tea taste like though? Any good?

ponto · 06/05/2008 20:30

Hello again, I joined the list when I first found out I was pg but have not posted since (have been lurking for a while though). I'm now 31 weeks and it's all starting to seem very real, though I have not done any baby preparation as yet - reading this thread is making me anxious, there are so many well organised mums to be!

I've not got SPD but do get horrible backache towards the end of the day, especially when I'm not working and looking after the 2 dds - I think it's all the bending over picking small plastic toys off the floor! Dh got me this litter picker which is fab as it means I can tidy up things like bath toys without having to repeatedly lean over. I do feel about 80 years old when I use it though!

CilC · 06/05/2008 20:35

Rasberry leaf tea is an acquired taste. Can't say I would drink it without a reason, but then it did not revolt me wither...sort of blahhhh...

Hi Ponto - that picker upper gizmo sounds great. I could do with one of those!

MINNIE1 · 06/05/2008 21:07

Ponto
Great idea the letter picker... Do you know what you are expecting?

Pigelychez
Mine are leaky all the time!! Well at least im not like pamela anderson this time round!!

ECC
Bloody hormones! I think we all have of days i know i do! Rest up and have a big slice of cake..

Today was bliss, washing basket empty!!

Peanut73 · 06/05/2008 22:09

Well, I've had such a giggle catching up tonight. I'm so glad to have found this thread as at times I feel as if no one knows or understands what I'm going through - not in a martyr sense, more like "what the hell is going on?". Then I read that someone else is experiencing this, and someone else that and voila - I'm not so alone afterall!

Mummypig - I live in Islington, North London.

CilC - where abouts downunder are you from? I lived in Sydney for 9 years before moving over here 4 years ago (although I'm actually a kiwi) . I have been feeling quite homesick but the weather today made it disappear completely!

ButterflyMcQueen - you made me smile. Glad I'm not the only one who becomes a psycho hormonal evil twin at times!!

Ponto - I was joking about getting one of those litter picker things the other day - good for you! Although it does crack me up. Maybe I'll just tie a long pair of tongs around my tummy.

Learning so much! Raspberry tea - definitely jumping on that bandwagon!

I think my LO "Pippin" has squirmed into a transverse position - youch. GP appt tomorrow so maybe she'll confirm.

Roll on maternity leave (4 weeks) - I dread work at the moment.

Sorry for the long post!
xx

Kaz1967 · 06/05/2008 22:12

RUMPEL know just what you mean about the kicks this little one kicked me all through my psychology exam this morning and not sure but think I made the occasional squeak certainly had one of the adjudicators ask me if I was ok more than once she said at one point she thought I was going to give birth with the faces I was pulling

I have over done it again today and have had strong BH all evening. Stopped off in town on the way home from the zoo (doing a project on lemurs and was such a beautiful day had to treat me self) and they kept on and off risked going to the bus stop to get home and they just got to the point I wanted to cry so phoned delivery suite. They told me to go home and put my feet up and ring them back in 2 hours if I still have them. They are settling down but still uncomfortable Hopefully they will end within the next hour or I might have to go in

Sorry giving ho hello to anyone new hope everyone is ok and anything else

sweetkitty · 06/05/2008 22:14

Ponto - litter picker is a great idea maybe you have stumbled across a gap in the market, pieces of plastic crap picker, I usually do it on my hands and knees

pigley - raspberry leaf tea is foul sorry I just got the capsules but sometimes if you burp you can taste them, they are huge things and you need to take 6 a day. On the clothes front I wash a basic load i.e. the ones you are taking into hospital with you maybe a few others and leave everything else just in case.

EEC - sorry you had a bad day mine started off OK but the DDs were horrendous towards dinner time maybe it was too much sun. DP has been really stroppy tonight as well

Butterfly - sorry to hear you are having a rough time too this pregnancy lark is difficult sometimes we are supposed to all be glowing and feeling great at this special time, well I feel like a sack of s and can't wait to get this baby out so there, blooming my a! Well it's just spreading fast.

sweetkitty · 06/05/2008 22:15

peanut - thats not a long post lol I can type and talk for Britain

kaz - ouch hope you don't have to go in take it easy x

isaidno · 06/05/2008 22:22

raspberry leaf tea tastes of leaves not raspberry!

sweetkitty · 06/05/2008 22:26

It's vile stuff I tell you.

CilC · 07/05/2008 06:52

I went for another physio appointment yesterday and forgot to tell you they have re-named SPD. It is now called Pregnancy Related Pelvic Girdle Pain!! Who thinks up these things?? (PGP). I think too confusing!

Kaz good for you for getting out there, but sorry about the BH! They can ruin a day can't they!? Good luck today!

Hi Peanut - originally from Perth - though have been here for 9 years! Do you have family coming out to help?

Raspberry tea funnily enough, gave me indigestion in tablet form but not as a tea. Having c section this time so have decided not to put myself through it again...

I went and bought these lovely nighties for hospital and decided to wear one last night. Feel so ugh thought it would cheer me up...they didn't really...woke up and found my boobs had slipped through (they are for bfing) and got such a fright! Time for hanging out boobs after the baby born...

I have washed new born sleep suits, tops and little pants (incase hot) in preparation for DS arrival. Have not washed everything as there was a heatwave when DD born and I ended up returning some clothes she never wore. I did swaddle her though even when it was hot, just placed a fan in our room that gave a very gentle breeze. She needed swaddling to sleep, plus I think it recreates the squashed in feeling they have in your stomach!

Have a good day evereyone - hope it is not too bad for everyone... Take care!

sweetkitty · 07/05/2008 07:52

Morning everyone another glorious day. Plans are nursery for DD1, supermarket for DD2 and I need to buy DD1 some shorts. Am going to phone the doctors today as well hopefully I might get an appointment, Cough still bad and woke up with another headache this morning and I'm fed up taking paracetamol. Apart from that nothing much oh washing of course. Todays plans are normal white washing in morning then I am going to wash the big cushions on our sofa. The joys of toddlers I am amazed the sofa is a year old now and isn't looking too bad.

CliC - I too hate the new Pelvic Girdle Pain redefinition, I don't think it's severe sounding enough like saying "backache" Complete Pelvic Torture would be a better name I think.

My two both refused to be swaddled, well DD1 was born in July in central London during a heatwave and slept in a vest for the first month of her life DD2 was a January baby but both have been and arm punchers (you know those little kicks and punches newborns do when they can't control their limbs?) and would scream if they were contained.

DD2 was also a scratcher within minutes of being out she had torn all her face (you should see the pics she looks awful) anyway the scratch mitts wouldn't stay on her tiny wrists so we used little hair bands to gently secure them so she had a vest and two huge scrathmitts with hair bands round them. Must try and post a pic.

twinkle1 · 07/05/2008 08:09

LilyToTheB · 07/05/2008 08:32

Morning all!
How is everyone feeling today? I had trouble sleeping as feeling really achy for some reason. Going to have a nice relaxing day today I think.

It's another lovely day here too!

How soon should you start drinking raspberry leaf tea? And can you get it from supermarkets? I'll try anything to make labour easier!

Am very of everyone going off on hols, would love a break too but still waiting for house sale to go through so no money til then
Am thinking of a spa break when it finally comes through though, nice and relaxing.. mmmm
Does anyone know anywhere good in the South-West that does pregnancy massage??

Have a nice day everyone!

JODIEhavingababy · 07/05/2008 08:40

Morning,

Gosh after reading your posts I think I'm the only woman in the world who LIKES Raspberry leaf tea????

No leaky boobs here yet though, and my BH are getting stronger and more painful by the day, it always takes me by surprise as I never had any last time.. They aren't very nice are they! so KAZ I can imagine how you felt yesterday...

I'm so sad that I've no washing to do today think I might do what SK is doing and strip the sofas...

As for washing new born stuff, I washed all of mine as I didn't really buy much and thought I might have a second anyway.. Then the stuff that got bought for us afterwards I washed as and when I needed it. DS wore most things anyway, the only thinks that he didn't wear were a couple of white and pale blue cutesy cardigans that were bought for us, he is such a boy they just didn't suit him at all!

Baby kept me up all last night, wriggling and jumping about.. Why oes he sleep all day and move all night, I hope this isn't a sign of things to come?

mcchesers · 07/05/2008 08:56

URGH! Ok I am well pissed off. DH and I spent the last few days and nights clearing out the living room for painter/decorators right? The guy was supposed to be here this morning at 8 sharp. I phoned him at half past to say basically where the hell are you? He says he had to rush back because he forgot his phone and was just getting into the car and that they won't make it out today due to an overflow of work because his staff had all but phoned in sick on the Tuesday because of the bank holiday.

Hmm..so I was nice on the phone but mentioned how unhappy I was via email and that if they are not here on time tomorrow I will cancel. I think I am within my right to do so. So now DH is off to work late and I am home in an empty living room wondering what to do. Any ideas?

JODIEhavingababy · 07/05/2008 09:01

That's awful! Couldn't he have called yesterday, surely he would have known then that he couldn't make it. stupid prick. (sorry )

Bad customer service really gets my goat! Is there any one else that will do it at short notice so you can cancel this guy?

mcchesers · 07/05/2008 09:06

I'm looking around the net like a mad woman. Anyone know a good painter/decorator in Glasgow?

JODIEhavingababy · 07/05/2008 09:07

Have you got a local shop that post adverts in the window? They are usually good for finding local people, and you can usually ask around about their reliability too...
