We've done the day/night distinction thing right from when we came home from hospital. He's all the wrong way round though and goes to sleep when the light/telly/radio go on and his eyes ping awake when they all go off!
Funny you shold mention a dummy, I started this thread earlier today.

What I csn't believe is what a temper George has!

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 26/04/2008 19:58

Dummies are activelyr ecommended from 1 month (but fine before) because of supposed anti cot death benefits, why on earth would anyone feel bd about that?

Bas doesn't have one mind, but only because ds3 took ages to get off them (didnt have one until 18 months when he got it frm former CM) and i think ds3 would kick off badly

bas has been wheezing badly today whenever he cries- we decided to call HV Monday for thatr eferral. far better safe than sorry with hearts.

Had a lovely surprise today- Mum posted a copy of the local paper from Somerset to us and they'd done us a birth announcementa nd congrats . I suspect she did it over phone as says 'our most wanted grandson' and I am sure she meant 'a most wanted///'- can see middle sister kicking off about that PMSL! Bit of a strange edition as on the opposite side was al;l the in memoriams for my nan (she died a good few years ago, but they do it annually as Grandad gets upset otherwise). Didn'yt half demonstrate how things move on!

jaq39 · 26/04/2008 22:11

hi girls,
Aisha born Friday weighing 7lb 14oz.
Started the drip at 11am
Established labour at 12.30 and she was born at 4.35pm - so pretty quick!
She is feeding very well and my nipples still intact!!
With DS they were bleeding all over the place!
Best wishes and good luck to all new mums xx

chipmonkey · 27/04/2008 01:18

Congratulations, Jag!!! Wow, that was quick! Was your labour with ds short?

BabyBratt · 27/04/2008 07:36

Hello Ladies,

Well I got my birth story.

Baby Jessica Elizabeth was born at 11.37am on 23rd April@ 40+1 7lb 12oz.

As you guys know I went to see the consultant on Tuesday where my blood pressure was over 115. They decided to induce me.

They were going to start me on the gel but when they examined me I was fully effaced and 2.5cms. I had not felt a thing. So then it was just waiting for a bed to be free. At 3am on 23rd they took me to delivery where I was 4cm. I had still not felt anything. They broke my waters and instantly contractions started. My blood pressure went up so they instantly put me on the epidural. They put me on the drip to increase my contractions. Everything went really well. The epidural did not work as it should so I felt all my contractions but I was kind of glad. By 5am I felt a pressure and wanted to push but they told me not to be so silly and topped up my epidural to see if they could get it to work. Because I insisted they checked me at 8am and told me not to be disappointed if I had only gone a couple of cms. They expected me to be 6cm. The midwife's face was a picture. I was 10cm. Which I why I'd been feeling more than I should. I then had to wait for the epidural to wear off to push.

It was wonderful and then the fun started. I did not release all my placenta. I lost 2 litres of blood and I was rushed to theatre where I had to have a general so they could clear me out.

I spent the next 2 days having blood transfustions and lying on my back because I would pass out everytime I stood up.

Anyway we are home now. She is feeding for 5 mins every half hour. Im finding BF really hard. Im so sore, and my milk does not appear to be arriving. She is getting so upset. I sat crying all night because she was getting so red and angry. We gave her a top up of formula last night and she took 2ozs and she has slept for 5 hours this is the most she has slept for 3 days.

She looks so like her dad and I cannot get over how much I love her.

I know breast is best but Im not sure how long I can feel like this. The midwife is saying she is latching right but my milk might be delayed because of my blood loss.

Congratulations to everyone else who has had their LO's. I'll catch up with all the births.

Denny185 · 27/04/2008 08:15

3 babies since i was last on here - congratulations.

Well done for trying to BF babybratt after a traumatic ordeal. Every feed you manage is a bonus surely, just take it a day at a time and try not to get too stressed. Im no expert but, do you need to feed as frequently as every half hour? I bet your really sore from that much, maybe its worth asking in the BF threads and Im sure someone like tiktok could help, or check on VS's profile page and she has all the BF helpline no's. If its any help to you DS and DD2 were on the larger side so i used top ups until milk came in, with both i would encourage 10 min feed on each side and then offer top up after. Reapeated every 2 1/2 to 3 hours stopping the top ups once milk in, dont know if this is the recommended but it worked for us. Sending you lots of hugs and support.

KnitterInTheNW · 27/04/2008 08:33

I HEART THE DUMMY!!!***

It let me sleep from 11:30 last night til 3:30 this morning, then again til 6:30, then again til now! I love love love it!!

I was fully expecting to have to convince George to keep it in his mouth, but no, he was doing a Maggie Simpson in 30 milliseconds.

Ayomi · 27/04/2008 08:36

congrats jag! and to anyone else I missed
Am all excitied this am - waters just gone and show at same time - was beginning to think baby was just a figment of my imagination and I just had terrible trapped wind!

Denny185 · 27/04/2008 08:49

Goodluck Ayomi and well done on the sleep knitter.

Carey87 · 27/04/2008 09:25

Good luck ayomi!

BabyBratt · 27/04/2008 09:28

Just put a couple of pics of my DD on my profile.

My little milk top up really worked. She has slept for 3 hrs.

So glad you slept Knitter, I managed 2 hours which is a first since she was born. So I really know how good sleep feels

typing one handed takes ages.

Denny185 · 27/04/2008 10:17

and dont you find you make so many mistakes typing one handed and have to keep goingback to re-type

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 27/04/2008 10:17

Jaq- sory didnt post your news, text only came in this morning! Congrats- Aisha a gorgeous name (was our choice for ds2 so biased LOL)

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 27/04/2008 10:22

Babybratt- its true that a haemiorrhage can delay BF, one of the few things that can. If she's asking every three hours then that's what she probably needs until the milk is in, but agree with Denny that every feed is a bonus and if you can't feed her yourself but have trie3d your eally shouldn't feel bad. had a similar ish pregnancy (with the BP and all) with ds1 and didnt feed him for long either, you can only try your best- mustn't make yourself ill over it.

NEM had a baby, Hope Olivia, at 8pm last night. Apparently very beautiful and different to her brothers. No weight yet!

KnitterInTheNW · 27/04/2008 10:33

typing one handed here too, yes takes ages and yes make tons of mistakes!

BabyBratt, your DD is gorgeous.

Congratulations to Jaq and NEM

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 27/04/2008 10:38

sorry BB- meant every half hour!)

Sheds75 · 27/04/2008 10:42

good news on the sleep knitter! we had quite a restless night last night feeding every 2 hours. I'm sure Henry is waking more often not managing to sleep more.....

good news on the feeding babybratt.

he is still restless.. so Tesco here we come!

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 27/04/2008 10:52

ayomi- missed your post earlier- good luck!

scorpio1 · 27/04/2008 11:03

Millie's feeding really well, may start expressing next week, have been invited out on a hen night next weekend and thought i may go out for a glass of wine.

Washing machine man is coming tomorrow. hope its cheap

moominsmummy · 27/04/2008 11:10

congrats NEM!

can anyone tell me why my coccyx is hurting so much today?

hoping it's cos baby fully engaged and v speedy labour on the way

oooowwwwwwwwww!!!!!!

BabyBratt · 27/04/2008 11:17

Thank you so so much peachy. Im sat here crying because I trying so hard to feed her. I just want the best for her but Im finding myself dreading her waking up. I feel so bad.

Midwife has just been and you would think I had committed the crime of the centuraary. She went on and on about nipple confusion.

scorpio1 · 27/04/2008 11:19

babybratt - sorry to hear you are having a bad time is there another mw you could talk to, or a bf support worker? Sorry i dont have much help becuase i am new to this myself.

BabyBratt · 27/04/2008 11:26

I've requested my orginal MW (they have changed them for some random reason)

My friend is coming this evening with her baby and she breast feeds so fingers crossed she will help me.

I just cannot believe how much I love my DD. I cannot believe how lucky I am and Im scared of getting things wrong.
