Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TwilightSurfer · 28/04/2008 21:08

Is anyone suddenly eating more than they've eaten this whole pregnancy? I feel like a bottomless pit.

Alittlebitshy, glad I could help. My doc said you really would know if you were leaking....it's just that constant.

IlanaK, those shows are very informative but tend to over-scare. I have first hand experience with C. Diff so feel free to ask any questions you'd like. I'm sure Captain has had training in the subject as well. You are correct; alcohol based hand sanitizers do not eliminate it BUT good old soap and water does. That's why it's always best to wash your hands every time you go to the bathroom and scrub for the amount of time it takes you to complete the Happy Birthday song. Bleach is also the best cleaner of contaminated surfaces. Don't worry you'll be just fine. You know, I almost sound like a public service announcement here.

hi, great thread. Im just waddling into my 26th week but thats mainly due to pubic bone being dysfunctional, anyone else suffering from this? Due on 4th Aug, my husband cant wait...........i think its the gas&air he's after.

TwilightSurfer · 28/04/2008 21:23

Hi Littlebeezz. I've had the same probem since probably about week 16. It's much better now or I'm just use to the pain. Hurts mainly in my butt cheeks. Floating in a warm therapy pool did wonders for it.

littlebeezz · 28/04/2008 21:30

Cheers Twilightsufer, i'll try a bath, (dreading going back to work with it).
Has anyone got any thoughts on Arnica for birth?

TwilightSurfer · 28/04/2008 21:31

Petitfilou so glad you're almost settled. Are you ready for guests? Wish I could sum up the past little bit but I'd have to go read it first....my mind is going QUICKLY. Everyone is well. More pram shopping...Dizzy offered her DC to Sazzle to test out one option. More name discussions. More kicks. More tiredness. Everyone's looking bigger. That's probably a quick snipit.

TwilightSurfer · 28/04/2008 21:36

No experience with Arnica here. Just googled it and I can honestly say I will not have any Arnica experience later either. Best of luck with that one.

Sazzles cheers to you. I couldn't have recapped our thread for a million dollars. Where is my mind going?!?!

I don't really fancy anything either but once I start eating......watch out. Yesterday I ate a cheese burger with fries, finished DD's pb&j and made another pb&j because it just tasted good. My DH just sat in amazement. Guess the baby was HUNGRY!!

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 28/04/2008 21:47

With the luck I've had with things lately you'd honestly consider letting me take Arnica. What is it I've heard folks say on this thread.....Sod's Law.

Hello all,

Okay, vests questions. How much are you paying in the UK? are these prices about comparable or can you buy nice stuff cheaper in the UK (in which case I will carry on looking here)

babygro (with long arms and legs and feet) made from cotton about £3.70, nice style.

Very cheap, not very nice babygros from synthetic material about £1.60

Vests (no arms, legs, pull over head) about £2.20 each - nice stripey ones £3

Trousers with feet and elasticated waist to go with vests £1.80 each

long sleeve top with poppers under nappy to go with trousers about £2.60

Also what is the optimum ratio of trousers to vests?

Changing the topic, today I'm feeling a long way from home and I am missing having a job (I only have a bit of part time work) and I'm missing my friends and family as well! End of moan - on the up side I am married to a really good man and we are happy and excited about the baby who will be coming, and my mum sent me a Mozart for mother and baby CD so no major complaints really.

HazieDazieandBaby · 29/04/2008 00:10

Hope you're feeling a bit better Sarahn, I agree with dizzy in that you shouldn't worry about moaning to us when you feel a bit rubbish, we all understand and it's what we're here for.

Made a massive mistake in visiting PIL when Corrie was on tonight, they're avid viewers and it was on in the background. Would normally have cried at it anyway, but it just seems too close to home at the moment so I got in a bit of a state about it Will totally freak out now if baby has a quiet day

On a happier note, we had our m/w appt today and when she went to listen to the baby's heartbeat with the microphone thingy, the little monkey let out a massive kick to let her know he wasn't happy with all the prodding! It was so cute and gave me a little tear in my eye to think of the little personality he seems to have already.

Thanks for taking up the challenge on the middle name front Dizzy! My last name starts with an 'H' and rhymes with 'pulse'!

We must be on the same wavelength regarding middle names TS! I thought of Louise to go with Gabriella but it's DH's ex-girlfriend's name so it's a no-go. I agree that it sounds lovely though. I also thought of Alexander to go with Cole, but I forgot that it's my BIL's middle name so not sure if we would use it. But both good suggestions though!

I'm not going far away Sazzles, just to a log cabin in Perthshire - it sounds great from the testimonials I've read so fingers crossed! It has a sauna and hot tub, so at DH who will have sole use of these! It has a jacuzzi bath as well, so at least I can use that! No open fire unfortunately but never mind! Oh and it has a 4-poster king-size bed too - yippee!! Enough room for my massive preggy pillow that I never leave home without now!

TwilightSurfer · 29/04/2008 00:19

Longway {{{hugs}}} I'm so sorry you feel down. Good that you've found some positives to focus on. Based on my crude understanding of exchange rates, your prices are just a slight bit better than mine here.

Sazzles we ran out for Mexican this evening. I'm the only one that ate (Nacho Salad). DH had a beer (he's starting a new diet). DD had chips and cheese (she's picky). The salsa was HOT so I'll probably be paying for it shortly. Eating Hershey Kisses for dessert. Might need a pop-tart and some milk before bed. Expect to be the size of a cruise liner by the end of the month.

DH asked about a vacation while we were at dinner. I guess I should figure something out. I told him I'd consider playing tourist in our home town...getting a hotel room for the weekend, running around to all the touristy attractions downtown, catching a baseball game, visiting the hotel spa for a treatment/massage. That would count as a vacation wouldn't it???

TwilightSurfer · 29/04/2008 00:23

oops cross posted with you Hazie. Too bad about the names but cool we were thinking alike. My little one kicked the doppler today too. They just don't want to be disturbed do they.

morning all!

petit well done on the house move, I cannot imagine doing it with being pg and with kids in tow.

ts wonderful news on the glucose test etc, I can heartily recommend arnica as well, I have a supply of the cream in the house for all bumps and bruises and buy the tablets for all my friends who have babies (am sounding like a bit of a drug pusher here ) do you have this brand in the states? its wonderful - if you don't I'd be happy to get it and post it over to you

here

for info of everyone, am eating way too much too and caught site of myself in the mirror the other day - its mainly the back fat that bothers me

IlanaK I agree with TS these programmes tell you the worst case scenario - I always take in anti bac wipes and get etc, our wards have a sink next to each bed too so just make sure you watch everyone like a hawk!! Am also slowing down at lot - I can't believe am getting so tired and so slow, am only 27wks too

longwayfromhome am sorry you're a wee bit homesick, are you getting home at any point or is your mum getting to come over? am not sure what you feel about buying baby clothes but if I can give you any advice at all its not to go mad because as soon as you have him your house will look like a blue explosion with all the presents

I just bought loads of plain white basics and once the girls were born we were given loads of lovely stuff and of course I could reuse dd1's stuff for dd2

anyway, will have a think about Hazie's names and am off back to bed as was up all night with dd2. she is coughing constantly at the moment but how do you explain to a 23month old that she needs to bring up the phlem (sorry TMI) have taken her to nursery and told them to phone me if there is a problem but in meantime am shattered

dh is away on a course this week so it will be all down to me with the girls and at the moment i feel like death warmed up

dizzydixies · 29/04/2008 09:11

sazzles was bidding on a nearly new Jane powertwin on ebay (so I could use stuff already have) and she rejected my best offer and came back with a higher offer which I then declined. back to the drawing board but the MB is looking more tempting
