DUE AUGUST 2008 NEW THREAD!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
HazieDazieandBaby · 19/04/2008 21:42

Ach well, if you don't try... My lovely friend who lives round the corner has said that I could keep it at hers so that I can visit whevener I like! She's going to wish she never said that, wonder if she has an airbed...?

dizzydixies · 19/04/2008 21:43

lol, new pram is all very lovely isn't it!

am having a mare over possibly getting a double, dd2 is just too quick not to have one

aarrgghhhhh its all too complicated ggrrrrr

HazieDazieandBaby · 19/04/2008 21:53

I've seen those buggy boards that go onto single buggies? Mind you, I'm guessing that she might not stand on that for too long? What about the iCandy that you were looking at? It's lovely!

dizzydixies · 19/04/2008 22:01

have one but she's too wild at moment, I need to be able to strap her in without a nail gun, well in public anyway

it IS lovely but the seats seem to be quite small and its a lot of money for a pram that I don't have a chance to have a 'go' of before buying

also the seating combo isn't great, if baby faces me, which is preferable, the dd2 at front has to rear face too - meaning view of back of babycot?! stupid design

Shazza2002 · 19/04/2008 22:04

Hazie, Silver Cross aren't updating their website until end April which I think is a bit daft of them seeing as the new colours are in the new catalogue thats in the shops.

My mum also frowned when I told her I was going to order my pram as soon as I could, so yes we're also a bit superstitious. Maybe I'll leave it at my sisters as she's only round the corner. Have to keep my mother on side you see, she can make a mean enemy.

BTW, had a count up of vests. I have 72 But in my defence they are sizes 0-3 months, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12 and 12-18. So won't have to worry for a while. I think it's because I can't find any clothes to buy so have taken out my frustrations on vests!

Also, did I mention I booked my holiday today? Hooray. Although very concerned how I'm going to cope without MN for a week.

dizzydixies · 19/04/2008 22:11

laptop or blackberry shazza - needs must lol

HazieDazieandBaby · 19/04/2008 22:17

72 vests Shazza ???!!! Well, there's nothing like being organised I suppose! Is there a pic of yr new pram anywhere that you can link to so i can drool over the new colour??

Aww, that's a shame about the iCandy dizzy, you really liked it too as far as I remember. What about the Phil & Ted one? (I called it a Bill and Ted the other day - totally excellent dude!)

HazieDazieandBaby · 19/04/2008 22:18

Oh, and whereabouts have you booked for your holiday Shazza?

dizzydixies · 19/04/2008 22:21

pmsl hazie - you're showing yourself up there lol

am going to start a thread and hopefully someone will just come along and TELL me which one to buy - removing me from the decision making process completely

TwilightSurfer · 19/04/2008 22:28

Longway, that's terrible about the smoke. We had a similar situation here not too long ago. YUK!!

I've never heard of this superstition. I've ordered my stroller already but I guess since DD will be using it first there's no cause for alarm.... Honestly though I had both my travel system stroller (including baby car seat) PLUS my toddler car seat before I gave birth to DD. Had them all put together parked in her room just waiting for her to arrive. Can't say anything terrible happened to either of us. As a matter of fact I don't know a sole who doesn't have all their equipment at home waiting for their baby's arrival. The only reason I don't have all my equipment as of this moment is because I don't have a spot to put it all. Clothes & bottles, on the other hand, are a little easier to store....all set there.

OP posts:
HazieDazieandBaby · 19/04/2008 22:36

I know dizzy! Can't even go for the Keanu Reeves angle as you couldn't really see his face in the film through all the hair! lol
I think a thread is a good idea for pram ideas. There are some total pramaholics out there! I just get totally confused by all the choice.

dizzydixies · 19/04/2008 22:39

TS am quite convinced its a weirdy scottish thing - you're allowed everything else in the house, just not the pram

tentatively stepped onto a double buggy thread and someone has blitzed my latest option lol

HazieDazieandBaby · 19/04/2008 22:42

Wow, tandems are expensive aren't they? With some of them, you'd be cheaper to hire a nanny to push dd2 along in her current pushchair, with enough money left over for a new pram for dc3!

HazieDazieandBaby · 19/04/2008 22:42

What was your option dizzy? I was joking about the nanny!

HazieDazieandBaby · 19/04/2008 22:46

Have you seen this one? lol

dizzydixies · 19/04/2008 22:54

yes hazie but am being my own worst enemy

I want one which has a lie flat facility for baby

one which can preferably be used as a double when needs be but single when dd2 is a bit older or at nursery

possibly prefer one where dd2 is infront of baby as she is a bit of a thug lol

had seen this one
here and this one

here

longwayfromhome · 19/04/2008 23:31

Thanks TS, it's OK, the air isn't too bad here. Also, did someone mention Keanu Reeves and eye candy in the same post, or am I missing something? And really interesting to read about the pram superstitions, no I had never heard of this either.

I think that we are going to buy a very cheap buggy (about 40 GBP). It is lie flat then sit up, with a push bar that swivvels over so that you can look at the baby if you want too, and folds up quite small. I can't see anything wrong with it and well, if it is a disaster, and we don't use it, at least it won't have been an expensive disaster. It is a make called Rainbow, but unsurprisingly I can't find any links ...

On car seats however, I suspect that we are going to be to paying through the nose for an imported from the US safety regulated seat (there seem to be Graco, Chicco and Evenflo brands here).

Oh and do people think that it is useful to have a cot side that can be easily lifted up and down, or is it easy enough to lift a baby in and out of a cot with fixed sides?

Shopping trip today, and then a nap this afternoon to recover! Greetings to all.

dizzydixies · 20/04/2008 00:03

hi longway

my cot has a drop side and 3 matress positions - both of my girls were big and it makes it sooooooooo much easier if you can lower side of cot to put them in once they're a bit bigger

have given myself horrible heartburn/indigestion tonight so off to bed - serves me right for stuffing lardy cake hole with cheese and onion kettle chips and a pint of coke

night all

alittlebitshy · 20/04/2008 10:06

Ooh ooh so how many new colours are silver cross bringing out then????

With at least 2 votes for the Linear freeway, tell me what it is you liked about it! I'm eyeing up the sleepover linear wotsit which is the same chassis i believe but the seat unit is a'super duper magic now i'm a carrycot now i'm a seat' jobby... so prob heavier.....
How did it steer? did it feel un-bumpy enough (good lord my vocab has got lost along the way) for a tiny baby?
Folding?

Thanks for all the 5 year old input!!!!!!! I feel better now. I'm normal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (.

Buckets - hope your dd gets a Rainbows place. We love it. My dd is in illegally cos I;m one of the leaders so she comes too, but when she hits 5 I'm hoping to be able to take a week off if i feel rough cos at the mo if i'm not there she can't stay. We started our unit from scratch in January and the lady who is in charge is so creative and comes up with so many fab ideas. The girls all love it!!!

Shazza am picturing you (well my image of you anyway) sitting there surrounded by vests counting them.....
To be honest i prob have a similar number over the sizes but if this baby turns out to be a boy most of them will be no good cos I looooved the pretty ones m and s used to do when dd was little.. all pink, flowery and bunny rabbity.

I'm desperate to go shopping and buy stuff. I keep making lists. But I am too scared that I'll be jinxing it if i go and get actual baby stuff Wasn't like this with dd I'm sure..... May get a few small bits if i make it to bluewater next weekend.

Oh and a friend of mine has offered to lend me her hospital grade breast pump, so all i'll need it to get the "bits" for that. Yay.

btw - I'm 25 weks today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh god, the pram decision...I can't even bring myself to dip a toe into the water on that one yet.

In fact, I'm feeling rather odd today. Had a lovely night out last night and really enjoyed seeing friends again, ate some delicious curry and drank sparkling water. Slept REALLY badly for no real reason and now I feel like I'm coming down with a cold - my head is all fuzzy and wobbly and I just feel bizarre. DP feels rank too, but that's because he's hungover. I resent feeling crap when I didn't even drink!

Am supposed to be studying for an assignment I don't want to do...have already procrastinated several days away, and now feel even less like hitting the books. Bleh.

Hope you're all having laidback Sunday afternoons...I might take my bump back to bed for a while.

There you are Sazzles. All nicely updated.

I'm going to assume a cot and a crib are the same. My crib did not have drop sides but the mattress could be adjusted to as the baby got bigger. I looked at drop down sides but opted to do without. We did just fine (the few times DD actually USED the crib.)

Only woke once last night because a youngster was driving crazy on our street. Otherwise I slept very well. I soooo needed that.

23+1 today. Weighed myself yesterday at the YMCA...126 lbs (started at 115 lbs)...so I haven't quite gained a stone yet. My belly is very "out there" now. I've officially had two friends reach out and rub it (for good luck LOL).

Translation request: What are vests?

TwilightSurfer · 20/04/2008 13:52

Hazie just realized your new name wasn't updated on the list. I've made the correction and it will display from here on out.

Any body else have updates to add? Possible Baby Names or New Location? I'll collect all the information post the list again this evening.
