Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

Reniessancewoman I am pleased to hear all was well at your scan. Pretty much the same thng happened to me, I was 12+3 by my ovulation date, but baby measured 70.5mm, whichy put me at 13+1 (13+2) today with an EDD of 29th October. I know this can't be right in my head, as there is no way on earth I o'd on cd9, we would have missed the boat so to speak. However, btoh my sons measured big at thier 12 week scans and actually came closer to their adjusted due dates than the originals. The way it is supposed to work is that all babies grown at a uniform rate up until about weeks 14 and then they all go off on thier own growth curves, but not sure how much I believe that.

Sorry to hear they didn't take the fibroid issue seriously. Also, good luck on finding another independant midwife. Have a great weekend!

hey guys.

off to catch up with all the scan news on a minute. Spent all day yesterday in hospital with DD, with suspected meningitis . She vomitted, had a non-blanching rash and was all floppy and unresponsive, so I called 999. They tried to give her oxygen in the house as she wasn't breathing properly, but the tube blew off the cylinder and gave her a fright and she started screaming and didn't stop for two hours! Anyway she was admitted and they have done loads of tests and started her on IV antibiotics, but thankfully she picked up really quickly. They don't think it's meningitis, thank god, and think that the violent vomitting caused the rash, then her body went into shock due to lack of fluids (she's had a runny bum for nearly two weeks now and was dehydrated). Bloody scary though, especially when the rash wouldn't go under pressure. We got home last night, and went back today for more ABs. We go back again tomorrow for her blood culture results and one more dose of ABs if needed. she is back to being quite perky (IV ABs = baby rocket fuel) and the only thing now is stoppin her from trying to rip the canula out of her foot.

I feel like I've been through the ringer though!

right, off to catch up!

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 13:49

Lackadaisy what an ordeal! It's so scary when things like this happen. I do hope DD is feeling better. I had a similar experience but when DS had just had his first set of jabs, it is just the most terrifying thing.

On a happier note, glad to hear you are comfotable enough to be looking at prams, Pinkali- that's lovely. I had the old bugaboo frog for DS and I did love it. I kept it for DD as I liked the carrycot, but also got a Phil&Teds because DS had not been walking for long when DD was born. I then sold the frog and got a second hand micralite which
has also been great. We've got a carrycot for that, too. I really rate carrycots, they are much better for baby than being left in the car seat for too long. The mumsnet reviews section is quite useful. I agree to getting all the bits, you'll need the footmuff etc. and may as well get them together, in case they change the colours later.

Ceebee I'm having to borrow my friends car seat as I sold loads of stuff, being adamant that I wasn't having any more babies!

Rennaissance, glad your scan went well. Maybe your fibroid is in a 'good' place? I know my friend has a terrible problem with them, she's had major ops, but her first DS, the fibroidsd were no problem, the second they were a bit near to things so a bit more of a worry?
Lol at all these big babies, not behaving and sticking to the Charts That Must Be Obeyed. Perhaps the babies haven't read them?!

Renaisancewoman, that's great news and what about those measurements...bet you got a surprise there . Pity about your independent midwife not being able to deliver your baby though, maybe she will be able to recommend on of her colleagues. Very, very sad about the homebirth that went tragically wrong too .

lackaDAISYcal, what a nightmare you've been through, I hope your little girl gets well quick.

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 13:54

Oh Creena! Great news about the scan. You may feel ancient but you are clearly a teenager on the inside!

lackaDAISYcal · 25/04/2008 14:09

Great news on all the scans

I'm having a pram dilemma too. I have a lovely pram that we got for DD, but only used the carrycot bit then went onto a McLaren Techno XLR, which i love. Unfortunately McLaren only do the techno in a twin, not the XLR which is a much nicer pram all round. We thought about a P&T, but baby has to go on the underneath bit ( but, November...I thought brrr; the poor wee might with it's bum eight inches off the ground) or on top in the car seat (only good for short journeys). I don't really like any of the twin buggies I've seen; the side by side ones have really narrow seats (and my monkeys are always on the chunky side), and the tandem ones seem cruel to the poor baby underneath or at the back. Maybe McLaren will have brought out a twin Techno XLR by then

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 14:20

Daisy I have a P&T, DD was an october baby. Theyb are lovely and snuggly in the cocoon and it sways slightly when pushed which is great for settliing the baby. The sleeping bag that goes with it is also really snuggly.

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 14:27

Daisy, also wanted to sat I received a copy of the letter my consultant sent to my GP today, and I was really pleased with it. He outlined our conversation very accurately, I thought. Amongst other things, he said that I would need suitable monitoring- the form this would take we would discuss at my 36 week appointment. It all sounds really positive.

dozymare · 25/04/2008 14:28

I had a double Mountain Buggy which I sold about a year ago and replaced with a Mountain BUggy Breeze - it is fantastic, best buggy ever and I have lots!!! will deffo be going for a double MB again but maybe 2nd hand this time rather than new........

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 14:30

Would've loved a mountain double, but our doors are too narrow.

lackaDAISYcal · 25/04/2008 14:31

that's good news on the VBAC front pinky. You've convinced me to at least go and look at the P&T....

DD awake, so better go and love her lots

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 14:37

It's not a perfect pram, but I don't think any doible is.It's good to push, with one hand even with two in and my children like it. You're also not stuck with a double when the older child just walks everywhere.

Pinkali37 · 25/04/2008 15:18

Oh no i've started a pram debate!

Lacksadaisy - Am really sorry you DD has been through the wars. Lots of loves definitely needed (to both of you). Hope she recovers superduper quick. xx

note to anyone who has recently updated the stats thread

I have just updated my details and copied the latest list but I think somewhere along the latest one hasnt been copied as there are quite a few scan dates missing that i'm sure were on before so might be worth re-checking your details are correct!

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 16:13

You know, as I've got past 12 I swear I feel worse not better.
Lola- have you had you bp checked? Be careful with the essential oils, many are not recommended for pregnancy. Hope you feel better.

Pinkali37 · 25/04/2008 16:24

Talking BP's, does anyone understand them?? Mine on Monday was 110/76 and after my scan was 86/65... She said that was low but ok in pregnancy but may explain why when I stand up I go a bit dizzy. I bet if they'd taken it before the scan it would have been amazingly high!
