Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

Hi everyone, I've not posted for ages I know but have been following everyone's progress. Can't believe so many are having 12 wk scans, I'm so jealous! Anyway, I'm working from home today so am finally able to post.

I need some reassurance and know this is the place to come! I'm 9wks 5 days and my preg symptoms have all but disappeared. Slightly tender breasts still but no nausea to speak of. So I'm worried... please tell me I shouldn't be!

We're meeting up with 2 very good friends tonight and are thinking about breaking the news but now I'm not so sure in case all is not well!

Thanks x

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 16:35

You are most likely one of those lucky people whose ms eases off when it's supposed to.

Pinkali- I have slightly low blood pressure, too, not a problem. Just don't stand up too quickly! Denists chairs can be the worst- I always have to get them to raise it veerry sloowly!

Pinkali37 · 25/04/2008 16:36

Thomasina - DO NOT PANIC.... ask anyone on here. I was exactly the same and almost freaked myself out. You're lucky my boobs totally stopped hurting and still don't!! I started losing my symptoms just before 8 weeks. MW was even worried and sent me for blood tests, then had scan at 8 + 4 when i was convinced all was not good. Instead saw a very cute 19.6mm measuring baby. Then I lost even more symptoms and was only left with tiredness and food aversions. THIS IS OK TRUST ME. I had my dating scan on Wednesday just gone and PEA now measures 46mm. I know exactly how you feel. It's awful hearing other people still being sick etc... but as I now believe, think yourself lucky. I really do hope this helps. Read back about 10 pages and you will see how worried i was. Good Luck and when is your scan??? xx

LolaBella · 25/04/2008 16:43

Pinkyminky not sure about BP will ask mw about it at my next appointment.

Thomasina i second Pinkali,my symptoms dramatically reduced at nine weeks. I was convinced something was wrong but my scan showed a healthy bub and i just figured i was one of the lucky ones. HOWEVER, paying for it now with my constant headaches - we can't win.

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 16:45

Believe me, you don't want to be throwing up on the pavement whilst pushing double buggy in the rain.Sorry, TMI, but a little insight into my day!

thomasina1 · 25/04/2008 16:45

Thanks pinkyminky and pinkali. Pinkali, I have been following your progress and was hoping you would write back to reassure me! I know I'm being silly but I think most uof us go through this paranoid stage! I had a scan at 6+5 and all was well then, heartbeat too, so I'm trying to convince myself that the little one is hanging in there! Just 3.5 wks until my next scan, can't wait. Congrats on yours! I hope you are able to relax now. I saw you were looking at prams - have you seen the bugaboo bee??

thomasina1 · 25/04/2008 16:46

Thanks Lola too!

And yes, I know I'm lucky - I have had just one day of throwing up so I should be thanking my lucky stars.

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 16:47

LOla- I would consider getting yourself a proper head massage this weekend. I have a friend who does them and they are great for migraine, so may help you.

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 16:50

Not making light of your concerns, Thomasina, don't want you to think that. Being pregnant can be one loong worry. I would enjoy your night and see how you feel- you might not be ready to tell yet, or not be able to keep it quiet- just guage how you feel at the time.

Pinkali37 · 25/04/2008 16:51

Oh yes, I almost sent myself and DH nutty over convincing myself something was wrong. How far are you?? I'm still amazed there is a baby growing inside me, nature is amazing! I feel so lucky. We will all give you the support you need running up to your scan and I can assure you that the ladies on this thread are brilliant and helped me so much when I was in tears of worry. A lot of the them are professionals at this and have had lots of experience and their advice really does help.

Yes have seen that pram but am dead set on this new quinny. Honestly go to Toys R Us (only place i've seen them) and do lots of corners in it. fantastic!! Brilliant for towns and big wheels (2 at back) for mountain climbing (DH seems convinced that he needs big wheels on it as we live in the county - god knows where he thinks he going with it?). x

Daniya · 25/04/2008 16:51

Thomasina - just wanted to add my peice as well, my symptoms almost completely went after about 8 weeks apart from tender breasts, I was also really worried about it but all was well at my 12 week scan. I think that I am one of the lucky ones as apart from my breasts which seem to have permanently erect nipples for the past 6 weeks I feel absolutely fine!

Hope this has reassured you too!

Congrats to all the positive scans today - sounds like November will be a busy month!

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 16:55

You will be surprised where you take your pram! I always go for air tyres, they are so much better. OOPs not allowed to mention prams.

bubbaz · 25/04/2008 16:55

Congrats to all the positive scans today. What a good week it has been so far!!
DH is ready to leave me over the pram debate I don't think he actuallty cares anymore as long as I stop harping on about it he loves me really!

serendippity · 25/04/2008 17:15

Hello all
thomasina please try not to worry, with dd i was sick as a dog up until 10 weeks. Then everything vanished, almost overnight. Dd is now a happy and healthy 4 yr old My symptoms are easing off considerably atm as well, i'm 9+3.
Lola poor you with your headaches, are you drinking enough water?
Ahhh prams unfortunatly they were something we did keep from dd and we have our terribly cumbersome Graco, which we will have to use because of the car seat and our much lighter but no car seat McClaren. I know it makes sense to keep these prams for no2, i know the car seat with graco will be wonderful for a new born, and i know nothing is wrong with either of them and it would be financialy daft to buy another one just because...but i want a new one!!

I am still tired today and am looking forward to the weekend where i can rely on dp to help out, he lets me sleep and last weekend he took dd and Spook (dog) out for a lovely long walk then went to tesco with dd to let me rest, didn't moan when he got back to discover me still in my pj's and he bought me a bunch of flowers back
Having massive cravings for frosted wheats atm, but in the afternoon not the morning! and also into danish pastries and maple and pecan danishes...I will be the size of a house in no time but i cannot help my body craving stodge!

thomasina1 · 25/04/2008 17:22

Thanks all! I know I shouldn't worry, it's just so great being able to share it. When I talk to DH about it he then gets even more worried than me! So I have to be careful.

Am trying to stop myself looking at prams (internet doesn't count, does it?) until 12 wks... only 2 and a bit weeks to go cos I am 9+5 today.

Daniya · 25/04/2008 17:40

I am already scared by the whole pram thing, this is my first and I don't have any friends with babies so I am starting from scratch and I never knew there were so many options!! Even specific tyres!!! All these terms and fancy names have gotten me confused, I can see myself going out and just spending a fortune on the most expensive one!!

bubbaz · 25/04/2008 17:44

Forgort to say Lackadaisy sorry to hear about DD glad she is over the worst and hope she is better soon.

lackaDAISYcal · 25/04/2008 17:45

thomasina, i'll add my tuppence worth as well. I had this with DD, and was so worried after y=two m/cs that we [paid for a private scan. I wa expecting the worst and was so relieved when we saw this wee foetus jigging about very actively.

apologies of\r spelling mistakes. DD is "helping"

lackaDAISYcal · 25/04/2008 17:47

thanks for all your kind words re DD. She is currently crawling around the floor shouting at the cat, and was up on my shoulders beating my head like a drum earlier, so safe to say she is on the mend

It's amazing how quickly they can go down nd then up again.

serendippity · 25/04/2008 18:08

Was she poorly lackadaisycal? i didn't realize, sometimes there are just too many posts
It is amazing how quickly they get sick and mend isn't it?
I need suggestions for takeway tonight, not pizza but no clue what else i fancy...any suggestions?

Oblomov · 25/04/2008 18:09

I have 'slipped throught he net' at Kings. No one has asked me to fill out the necessary forms and I can not get a 12 week scan. They are fully booked for the next 4 weeks.
And they have no availability as yet, for a booking in appointment.
To say I am LIVID is an understatement.

lackaDAISYcal · 25/04/2008 18:16

oblomov...I'm on your behalf. After everything you've been through, how could they not know about you?. Do you not get booking in with your community midwife at your GPs where you are?

serendippity, she was rushed to hospital yesterday with suspected meningitis, but although she was very poorly it isn't that, thank god and she is on the mend. Think it was related to the on going stomach bug that she's had for the last few weeks but we get her blood culture results tomorrow. scary though. all the symptoms were there from floppyness to the rash.

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 18:30

Daisy- that's great news.It never ceases to amze me how resilient little ones are.
Oblomov that is ridiculous!. I was told it had to be within 10-14 weeks to be accurate. Can you go somewhere else?

serendippity · 25/04/2008 18:34

Lackadaisycal, omg i didn't see anything about that at all, i'm so sorry! So glad she is feeling better now. Dd had the most appaling tummy bug last yr and ended up floppy so we took her to hosp where she was admittted with dehydration and a few days later she came out with a bloody spots associated with meningitis but was pretty much over the dehydtarion at that point and out of hosp.
I wonder if they had similar things?

lackaDAISYcal · 25/04/2008 19:35

It sounds similar serendippity. They told us that violent vomitting can cause the same sort of rash as things like meningitis due to blood vessels being burst with the pressure of the vomitting, and the floppiness was probably due to her body going into shock. Apart from a nasty cold at Christmas it's the first time she's been ill, and certainly the first time she has ever been sick.

I'm booked to do a baby first aid course in a few weeks.....not before time as i really didn't have a clue what to do.
