Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

Hi All,

Smiles and Lola CONGRATULATIONS !!!!

Good Luck to all having scans today.

Smiles - Bc my sonographer was a cow (oops) she didn't really explain things to me and told me they would go by my scan at 8+4 which would have made me 10 + 6 yesterday BUT when i got home and looked at my maternity notes it says I was 10 + 5 yesterday but the baby measure 46mm which = 11 + 3. There is no way I can be 11+3 bc of dates etc... but OMG does that mean i'm having an elephant? hee hee. What were your measurements?

Thank you everyone for all your kind thoughts and YES i am now going to enjoy being pregnant.

Oh on the nuchal thingy... We don;t get that as norm round here but we do get the blood test and then if necessary the Amnio. I have decided not to have the blood test, to me it wouldn't make a difference to the outcome. xx

smilesattheweekend · 24/04/2008 10:43

Hi Pinkali. I am leaving my dates at 10+5 which gives me a due date of 14th Nov, I couldn't be 11+2 as I know when we did it . I think I must be having an elephant too! She didn't give me the measurements though, I think that because she is a consultant she wasn't too used to using the scan machine, she just gave the date but tidgy was moving alot. I have appt with Dr this afternoon (booking in) it was 5 years ago since I did this last and I am sure it has all changed - not sure what to expect.

X

Hey all - now we have started telling people I have just found this website which I thought would be fun for my friends and family and for us of course.

Just thought I would pass it on:

www.mybabysweepstake.com

Renaissancewoman · 24/04/2008 13:04

Heartmum2Jamie - hope you are OK.

Great to read so much good news. Mine is tomorrow and hope to post more of the happy stuff.

We have called ours - "the last one", no 3 for us and husband would have been OK sticking at 2. In theory I wanted 4 but that's not going to happen. After my scan at 8 weeks I met up with husband in Regent's Park where he was entertaining the kids. I told him it was twins - he looked very ill until I owned up half an hour later. I was in hysterics, he was not!

I have started telling friends that I've seen since Tuesday. I just look so pregnant so there is no point not saying. Its not just flab round the middle anymore. I've got the shape of a bump from below boobs all the way down to top of pelvis. This has really stepped up in the last couple of days - I've put on 4 pounds in 2 days and am constantly thinking of bacon sandwiches.

Lolis · 24/04/2008 13:30

I'M LOVING THE BACON SANDWICHES!!! They're the only thing that got rid of my ms.

I'm also starting to look quite pg now - after my bowl of cereal this morning, my tummy was the same shape as it had been two days ago after a big evening meal. It's groooowing...a colleague keeps glancing at my tummy and I'm sure he's twigged!

Also getting some looks at the boobs, which I've never had before! It's a bit annoying but also kind of flattering!

serendippity · 24/04/2008 13:31

heartmum i do hope you are ok, good luck with your scan.
I am knackered today, utterly knackered. MS eased tremendously, which is fab but i suddenly hit a brick wall of tiredness which just cripples me every day. Poor dd is getting alot of cbeebies time I'm also increadibly ratty with everyone, and still all teary.
Still i am only 9 weeks, I will feel better in a couple of weeks.

Emmanj · 24/04/2008 14:02

good news for the scans! . i cant imagine what it must be like seeing the baby for the 1st time! I cant wait for mine!
Hope ur all having a good day x

cricri · 24/04/2008 15:35

Heartmum Hope your scan went OK today and you got some reassurance regarding the spotting.
Just had my NHS dating scan and all is still well since the last one on Monday. No reason for it not to be, but it's always a bit nerve-wracking! They've given me the same EDD as the Fetal Medicine Centre did, 1 November. 20 week scan is now booked as well - wow, I still can't believe I'm actually having a baby
I'm slightly of those of you with bumps - I don't really have much of a bump yet although I have more of one in the evenings Still, I guess I should enjoy wearing my normal trousers for a bit longer. I did buy one of those belly belts that somebody on here recommended and that's been great.
Hope everybody else is OK

bubbaz · 24/04/2008 15:48

Good news Cricri glad it all went well for you.

Daniya · 24/04/2008 16:10

CriCri - really pleased for you, we have the same EDD!

My 20 week scan is on 12 June as I am going on holiday on the 13th - I can't wait already!

I don't have much of a bump yet either, I want one though so I have an excuse for the left over beer (from pre-pregnancy) and all the chocolate I'm scoffing!!

browny · 24/04/2008 16:29

Hi, lovely news Pinali, hope you can relax a bit more now , it's lovely news to hear about all our jumping babies!!

My scan went well yesterday, despite an empty bladder (didn't think I'd be seen straight away), the baby was asleep but suddenly jumped like someone had startled him/her, baby measured 11 weeks 3 days, so that's a due date of 9th November, so I was only one day out!.

Just booked a nuchal scan and blood test, apparently they have a 80% accuracy rate, compared to the triple blood test's rate of 60%, I was asked if I wanted to pay extra to have a 4D scan done at the same time, but I'm wondering how clear the baby's features were at only 12 weeks? Does anyone know if 4D scans are safe?

mum2becks · 24/04/2008 16:40

More good news on here again today!!

forgot about having to have a full bladder, good job you reminded me of that browny! Dont know how I will manage it though as I need to wee all the time as it is so hope they dont keep me waiting!!!!!!!!

My scan is at 9.40am tomorrow morning so will be on here with an update later in the day, cant wait now!!!!!!!!

browny · 24/04/2008 16:49

Mum2becks, good luck for tomorrow, don't forget to ask for a photo, I nearly didn't get one as she didn't ask me!

Purlease · 24/04/2008 17:24

Hi just dropped in to hear how the scans went. Pinkali37 can you please stop worrying now and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! Glad to hear it went well despite the horrible sonographer.

Glad to hear all went well for you too Cricri - gives me optimism

Heartmum2Jamie · 24/04/2008 17:32

More good news from me! I too AM GOING TO HAVE A BABY!!!!

Baby looked great, was a little wriggler, but not bouncing around, I like he/she would have quite liked to go to sleep! Baby is measuring 5 days ahead, making me 13+1 with an EDD of 29th October. As for the spotting, there is a small area of blood just behind the baby, which may also come out in spotting/bleeding, or may be reabsorbed. I really hope that once this spotting fully clears that is the end of it, it is nerve wracking which can't be good for me or the baby. They did say if I was at all concerned, I could go back and they would have another look. The measured the nuchal folod, but didn't tell me what it was as said I was just out of the ideal age range for it anyway.

Piccies are in my profile!

Daniya · 24/04/2008 17:39

Heartmum - so pleased for you - I hope you're not going to desert us for the October thread now though?

My baby did wierd things on my 12 week scan - it was jumping about but from the spine, as though it were being given the imaginary bumps! No idea if this is normal or not but I thought it looked wierd/cool!

Mum2Becks - good luck for tomorrow!!

browny · 24/04/2008 17:47

Heartmum, I was told that the nuchal scan could be done until 13 wks + 3 days, did you have to pay for yours, it's not done on the NHS here?

LolaBella · 24/04/2008 17:59

Heartmum and Browny more fab news on healthy babs. What a great week we are having on here so far. Good luck to MumtoBecks and Reniassancewman for their scans tomorrow xx

I am suffering so badly from headaches. I'v had a constant one for nearly a week now and have tried paracetomal and drinking loads and loads of fluids but to no avail. I hope they don't last too much longer, they are driving me crazy!!!

Heartmum2Jamie · 24/04/2008 18:00

Daniya nope, have no intention of leaving this marvelous bunch of ladies! This is a great group, very supportive and knowledgable, plus we have already got to know each other of the last several weeks, I don't want to start again. Besides, ds1 was 8 days late, putting me right back in November (nevermind that ds2 was 2 days early, lol!)

Browny No, didn't pay for them to measure the nuchal fold, I was actually very surprised that they did it as I had heard it was not offered unless the first bloods for downs came back with a higher risk, or you paid for it. Like I said, they didn't tell me anything though, just said that they would write it all down. I guess the consultant will tell me when I see her on Tuesday?

Mum2becks Good luck for your scan tomorrow!

Lolabella - try a cold flannel with some Lavender Oil on - when I had a bad headache a few weeks ago this helped soothe it a bit. Also, try eating something sweet - maybe you need some sugar?

Heartmum - glad to know you're staying!

Also congrats to Browny and good luck to Renaissancewoman who I forgot before (sorry!!)

lovely news today.

hope yours is good tomorrow, mum2becks.

re sex of baby - with dd 5 and a half years ago, the sonographer said it was a girl at the 12 wk scan as she could see the shadow of the baby's uterus on the scan - she was reasonably confident and was right! For ds's scan they couldn't say at 12 wks, but i found out later that it was a boy. For this one I am determined not to find out. My husband didn't want to know both times so it will be good to not knowfor his sake and I need to prove him wrong as he thinks I am not capable of not finding out. Plus I want both anyway!

I'm at 10am tomorrow and I think I am now excited rather than worried, we'll see..

pinkyminky · 24/04/2008 18:34

Glad your scan went well, heartmum, and fab pics!

Pinkali- you may be having a slightly longer baby, but they are all around the same size at this stage, which is why they can be dated quite accurately. After about 14 weeks, they go their separate sizes. My DD was always just about on her dates, and she is not so big, but DS is a 91st centile kid and is tall- his legs always looked really long on the scans!

Daniya- I'm not sure but I do recall that there is something about Lavender and pregnancy- not sure they go together in early pregnancy, link
not the most scientific source but best I can do with two toddlers hanging off me! It's probably fine, so long as it's really dilute.

Congrats on your scan too, browny!

dozymare · 24/04/2008 19:01

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! Another good day for scans and long may it continue!!!! Heartmum don't leave us for October - you are such an integral part of this thread now - we all are!!!

Good luck everyone for scans tomorrow - I can't wait for mine now as just want to know everything is ok.

Have a fab evening all
