Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

Dozymare - it was me and Lolabella who are both teachers and were wondering if we were at the same school. I have a feeling that we aren't. Lolabella teaches Psychology and lives in York if I remember rightly. There is only one psychology teacher at my school, and I think she lives in Leeds, so chances are we are not in the same school. However, the world of teaching is a fairly small one, so we think we may know some of the same people. We were planning on revealing to each other which schools we teach in once we have both told work we are pregnant, so maybe then we'll discover the truth!!

I would like advice on maternity clothes please. I finally succumbed yesterday, and went shopping! My trousers still fit, but they are getting a teeny bit tight and uncomfortable, so I thought I'd better bite the bullet! I traipsed up and down the streets of Leeds thinking it would be dead easy to find stuff. Unfortunately the Dorothy Perkins is currently closed as it is being refurbished. I remember someone on here saying that H&M is great but when I went in, I couldn't find the maternity range (does anybody know the Leeds H&M and know where the maternity section is?) I eventually got some jeans from topshop and some work trousers from Gap - I was impressed with the stuff in Gap by the way. However I was not impressed with Leeds in general, there are hardly any maternity clothes in the whole town!! The Next didn't have a maternity range. What other high street shops should I be going to? Any advice would be gratefully received.

What fantastic news about all the scans in the past few days. There has been a lot of good news on this thread recently, lets hope it stays that way until November. Still another 2 weeks until my scan!

Heartmum2Jamie · 23/04/2008 19:08

Yay Smiles that is such great news! It makes it all feel that much more real to hear of people having good scans and seeing active little babies!

The countdown is on for mine now, lol! Only 18 hours and 42 minutes, pmsl!

Smiles I am really pleased for you - I logged on here as soon as I got home from work as I was waiting to hear your news!

I have a bit of feedback on the foetal doppler - I also saw online that it would work from 10 weeks so we hired one at about 10+2 and I tried about 5/6 times so far and I can't find a thing - it actually made me worry quite a bit for my 12 week scan yesterday - so I was relieved when the sonographer pointed out that there was a heartbeat!!

Even though the website said it works "as early as 10 weeks" the packaging says from 12 weeks - and I'm not yet convinced about them (also I have heard they can be distressing for the baby but I'm not an expert). From what I've read dopplers are good for later in pregnancy - sorry if I have dampened your hopes but I wanted to let you know my experience.

Heartmum2jamie I'll be keeping an eye on here tomorrow for good news from you. Fingers crossed!!

Juanitad doon't know if you have one local but New Look do a Maternity range, it might only be in the bigger stores though. They have some really nice stuff and its very cheap. I bought a beautiful dress on Sat in the Sale for £8 - Bargain!

lackaDAISYcal · 23/04/2008 19:26

juanita, the H&M in Leeds Shopping Plaza in Albion Street does maternity. M&S do a limited range, but you have to go to Owlcotes for that.....town centre is pretty hopeless iirc for maternity ranges.

Birstall is the best place as there is Next, Dotty P, Mamas and Papas, all with maternity. There is a GAP there, but I don't think they have maternity.

and of course there is always mothercare at Crown Point.

lackaDAISYcal · 23/04/2008 19:32

maternity in H&M was in the very far corner of the basement behind all the children's clothes when I looked in there this time last year.

mum2becks · 23/04/2008 19:46

fantastic news on the scans from today !!!!!

Still got to wait until friday for mine so checking up on everyone else before me is keeping me going until then!

We arent original with the name for our little one, our dd was nicknamed 'bump' so this one has just become 'bump2' dh just automatically started to call it that!! Although I'm sure once we tell dd about it she would much rather it be called 'iggle piggle' like heartmum or perhaps 'upsy daisy' as she seems to be a favourite at the minute!!!!!

Good luck everyone with scans tomorrow lets hope its another day of good news all round!!

dozymare · 23/04/2008 19:56

Smiles - I bet your GRINNING - hugely so!! Fantastic news...what ag reat day for this thread!!!!!!!!!!

AS for Maternity wear, I have the following advice.....avoid Mothercare - bloody awful and expensive......I had a quick peep when I was at Bluewater the other day and it was disgusting!!

Topshop - have a great, trendy selection and reasonably priced - I got a lovely blue shortish jacket that in XL fitted over my huge (.) (.) althought doubt it will in 5 months time!!!!!

DP and Hennes - Great selection and cheap as chips..got some fab trousers in Hennes sort of lineny and smart.

Blooming Marvellous - expensive but lovely,,,especially if you have a posh do!!!

dozymare · 23/04/2008 20:05

see my post below....

wish my boobs did look like (.) (.) they are more ( . ) ( . )

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ceebee74 · 23/04/2008 20:16

Great news on all the scans

Maternity wear - DP's do have a lovely range and reasonably-priced too so it will be worth the trip to the one on the retail park by the M62.

Blooming marvellous - lovely lovely stuff but expensive - good for a couple of 'classic' stuff to see you through.

Next - do have some great stuff but maybe be better on-line as I don't think many of the shops actually stock the range.

Agree that Mothercare is not very good at all.

Am a bit of a shopaholic so being pg just allows me to go a bit mad!

lackaDAISYcal · 23/04/2008 20:22

lol dozy.....after 2 DCs and BFing for 10 months, mine look more like !!

Heartmum2Jamie · 23/04/2008 20:26

I don't bloody believe this, I am spotting again. Thankfully it is still brown. I was just starting to relax after the scare on Saturday and now this. Thank goodness for the scan tomorrow, hopefully they can shed some light on the spotting. I am now back to feeling terrified, although baby still sounds ok.

pinkyminky · 23/04/2008 21:41

Great news, Smiles -all these little jumping beans! My friend had to do the whole heparin thing, will you get a special care midwife who'll come to you, later on? MY friend did and it was quite nice as you get the same mw all through then.
Heartmum that's awful, to be spotting again.I hope you are getting lots of rest. Good luck for tomorrow's scan - we'll se if yours is another wriggler, or a sleepyhead like mine!

toolly · 23/04/2008 21:44

Hi everyone. Had my scan on Monday, I had half-convinced myself this pregnancy was all in my head but now I have proof it's not. Just one in there (thank goodness. I told him the reason why I was having a dating was because I had taken anti biotics in mid Feb and they have been known to cause birth defects. He couldn't tell me whether Tercius had been affected but said they could tell me more at my nuchal. I rang the Dr to find out if all the paper work has been processed, and the receptionist said she would ring me back. She didn't. Very annoyed because it looks like I won't be getting the nuchal in the 11-13 week window now. I shall ring again tomorrow and hopefully get an appointment. Griping over.

LolaBella · 23/04/2008 21:52

IM ALSO HAVING A BABY
Scan went great, baby appeared very clear and was wriggling about, heartbeat strong and nuchal fold results were very low risk. Was dated as 12w + 3 so i move up a due date to 2nd Nov. Am so pleased and relieved xx
Smiles lovely news from your scan too and you also move up the list.
Thank you to everybody on here for all your support over the last few days/weeks it really makes a big difference to have the support from ladies who are in the same boat.
Heartmum fingers, toes and everything crossed for your scan tomorrow and hopefully you can get some clearer answers on spotting.
Night everybody from a happy, happy mum to be

LolaBella · 23/04/2008 21:54

Toolly crossed posts - glad your scan went well too. Hope you can still get a appointment for nuchal scan

pinkyminky · 23/04/2008 22:52

HeartmumJamie, how is your spotting ?

Lolis · 24/04/2008 08:26

Congrats people on more great scans! I am reading with a little tear in my eye...Have a nice smiley day!

dozymare · 24/04/2008 08:28

Hurrah for more positive scans!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck today Heart2 and all others having scans.......

Daniya · 24/04/2008 08:56

Morning all - good luck to everyone who has scans today, I shall be watching this post for good news!

Heartmum2Jamie · 24/04/2008 09:38

Oblomov, the spotting is the strangest thing, it's like one decent sized blob of brown, then some slight tan streaked cm and then nothing. Maybe it really is related to when you would normally expect AF, a possible UTI or I shouldn't have chased the rabbit around the garden yesterday, lol!

Either way, I am glad today is scan day, I am excited and a little scared incase they tell me that they see a cyst or subchorionic hematoma (I had one with ds2, but it resolves itself with no spotting or bleeding out), but I will cross that bridge when I get there. Appt is at 1.50pm, and I have to have bloods done too, so I will be back later this afternoon with what is hopefully a great update! Get me with my PMA!
