Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

That's great news Pinkali, but Grrrr at the f*wit of a sonographer! Can you get your scan pics into your profile, I would love to see Tarquin!

smilesattheweekend & Lolabella, good luck for your scans today. Waiting for news from you two should help pass a few more hours so I don't think about my scan tomorrow so much.

As for bump names, this one is Iggle Piggle

Yay! That's fantastic news, Pinkali! I'm so pleased for you! That sonographer though - what a cow!

Keeping everything crossed for all of the other scans happening this afternoon!

AutumnLady · 23/04/2008 15:54

it's getting really exciting now as most people who have been really poorly are starting to come through it and lots of us are having 12 weeks scans. fingers x'd for everyone as I hope we all have good news to share and can continue to support each other throughout the rest of the year.

Sorry, just felt like saying that as everyone on here has been great to me

xx

ceebee74 · 23/04/2008 16:05

Pinkali - fantastic news! Now I hope you are going to chill out and enjoy your pg??

Good luck to the rest of you having scans this week - am as mine seems so far away!

We have christened ours 'bump' aswell - not very original at all!

AutumnLady · 23/04/2008 16:10

when is your scan ceebee? Mine is on monday which is still ages away to me! Great minds obviouly thinking alike then with the naming of 'bump'

xx

Lolis · 23/04/2008 16:13

Pinkali - I just remembered your scan was today and logged on quick! CONGRATULATIONS! Well done for persuading the demon woman to actually do her job!

What an exciting week for the November group! I feel like we're all collectively turning a corner. My scan is on Tuesday and I'm counting the MINUTES til it comes. Got really excited today when I spoke to my Mum and she said a friend of hers was told the sex at the 12 week scan. I really hope we can find out! But even so, I'll just be totally overwhelmed to see a little person in there for the first time!

According to my ovulation calculations I should be 12 wks tomorrow, but daren't tell anyone yet even though it's starting to feel safer. Yesterday I had a really big evening meal and then my belly was enormous and I thought, shiiiiit! I'm actually pregnant! The mini-bump is becoming difficult to hide now...

ceebee74 · 23/04/2008 16:13

Lol AutumnLady My scan is not till 15th May so 3 weeks tomorrow - as I said, AGES and AGES away!!

AutumnLady · 23/04/2008 16:18

ceebee wow, that is ages away but it will go really quickly - promise! I have counted the days for this scan but was also lucky to have had an early scan at 8 + 5. Just can't waite to see 'bump' again....!

I didn't think they could tell the sex as early as 12 weeks? my friend managed to find out at her 20 week scan but even then it wasn't clear as baby was not allowing them to look for long!

Well it did sound suspicious to me as my book says it's very unusual to find out the sex before 20 wks. But as long as there's a human in there, I couldn't care less! I just want next week to come now!!!!

Lolis · 23/04/2008 16:32

You know what hanaflower, I think she did have a very late first scan. So that must be it.

lackaDAISYcal · 23/04/2008 16:32

i think an experienced sonographer can have a pretty good stab at telling the sex this early, but it's not 100% accurate.

when anyone asks if I know what I'm having, I just say "a baby" or "well it's either a boy or a girl". It;'s worth it for the confused look that passes over their faces before they realise you are winding them up

We found out the sex with DD at our 20 week scan, mainly because we could (DS born in Edinburgh, so only a 12 weeks scan there). I think we might wait for the surprise this time around.

We've started telling people (other than our family and close friends that is!); it feels really good to be able to do it. I told DS he could tell his teacher our surprise; so he whispered in heer ear that we are going on a fishing trip next weekend...bless him.

It was something I read in Lesley Regan's Book.....but yes, I thought that sounded a bit soon too!

abbymeg · 23/04/2008 16:45

Lolabella How have you managed to post on here from work? I must know your secret! Every time I tried, it was a banned website .

You're probably on your way out now, good luck - I'm confident everything will be great. Little bean won't be so little anymore .

Tinkerisdead · 23/04/2008 16:52

Hi all, Ive had my house re-decorated and so the laptop was piled away amongst furniture and junk in what we have now decided will become the playroom yippeeee!

Its been murder not being able to get on here. Def getting abump now which is weird, i sit there feeling fat, see adverts for special K and all diet stuff and think oh god i need that i feel really fat and then think durrrr baby!!

Bump here is known as "Tiddlypeep" or "The Tiddly" Got my dating scan next friday and then NT scan the following day. My midwife said i should cancel my dating scan for private NT scan but i said no way! I get more photos and another opportunity to see the tiddly Im not cancelling anything!!!

Great to see so many successful scans and such goodwishes being passed around. Its been great to be ale to share the worries of the past three months with so many people going through this.

Lolis · 23/04/2008 16:54

Ooh I just realised it's the 9th anniversary of me and DH's first date...and Shakespeare's birthday! Sorry, random thoughts. I'm just bored at work!

The Mumsnet info on pregnancy at 12 weeks says that there are genitalia by 12 wks, but not many sonographers would commit to the gender at this stage. If it's Mumsnet it MUST be true...

So I persuaded DH eventually that half a glass of wine would not kill me or the baby...He made me roast beef and yorkshire pudding (mmmmm) and poured me a small glass, and I couldn't drink more than three mouthfuls! It was FOUL! So he got the upper hand again. Dammit.

dozymare · 23/04/2008 16:58

Just popping in before I have to start the boys supper..........

Pinkali - amazing news!!!!!!! I really hope youwill do your best now to enjoy the rest of your PG. For you, the worst is over, you have reached 12 weeks, had a positive scan and all looks good!!!! I am so happy for you as I know you have been worried sick.

Lolo Good luck for your scan at 6pm....let us know your good news asap!

Daniya Welcome to the group - is it your 1st??

Finally, who was it pages and pages ago who thought they might be teachers at the same school...did we ever find out if you are??!

DM x

FAB NEWS Pinkali! Can we all breathe out now?,only kidding, that is wonderful news, but what a twit of a sonographer. But forget her, it's wonderful news and I'm really pleased for you. I'd have posted earlier but my mum has only just gone home.
Looking forward to the rest of the scan results for today.
Hello Daniya, and welcome peanut!

bubbaz · 23/04/2008 17:50

Pinkali Yay for you and your bean fantastic news for you I'm so pleased!!!
Welcome to Daniya, congratulations on yours.
Hope everyone elses scans have been as good today.
Our bean is Chocolate christened by DS as that is what he says he wants to call the baby - I don't think so .
Any news from Twinkling Fairy yet?

SoExcited · 23/04/2008 18:08

Congrats to everyone who's had there scan!!

My DH chose the name Growler for ours - on the basis that it has made my stomach growl really loudly. Not a very affectionate name, but I'm glad he chose it.

I'm hoping to have a home birth with a birthing pool - a pool is supposed to be the next best pain relief to epidural and also helps to stop you tearing. I'm not obssessed with the idea of giving birth in water but if it helps, I want the choice.

My sis used a birth-pool-in-a-box in a midwife led unit, and you can buy these online for about £90. Because it's yours to keep you can get it early and you've got it to use again next time round.

Scan on Monday, and NCT classes booked - I'm getting much more convinced this is all for real!!

smilesattheweekend · 23/04/2008 18:10

Just got home from hospital - Saw the consultant who runs the recurrent mc clinic and she actually did the scan, my dates are 10+5 but she said 11+2!! It was hard for her to see Tidgy as it kept jumping around so we are sticking with my dates. Saw the HB and she was pleased that everything is as it should be. Just have to have NT scan on 7th, have booking in appt tomorrow. Ended up spending longer in the hospital pharmacy waiting for heparin injections! Feel happy, but I am sure I will feel anxious in a week or so. Have been looking at dopplers to listen to HB there is one which gets good write ups for £40 and you can record your own HB to soothe baby when born. Also, the write ups say you can get a clear HB from 10 weeks onwards - has anyone tried one as I am tempted, not to use everyday but also to let DS listen in to "make it more real" for him - not that we have told him yet. Anyway, am rambling now and desperatly need a cup of tea. Thanks to everyone for your best wishes etc.

I THINK I AM HAVING A BABY!!

x Smiles

bubbaz · 23/04/2008 18:18

Great news Smiles so pleased

lackaDAISYcal · 23/04/2008 18:21

yay smiles...fantastic news

sorry your having to have the heparin injections; I know from the knicker checkers thread that it can be a tense time, but fantastic news on the scan. So your EDD will change then...are you still actually in November

Creena · 23/04/2008 18:36

Hurray for Smiles! What lovely news - I'm so pleased for you! Still keeping everything crossed for everyone else (it's starting to hurt a bit now)!

We haven't come up with a name for this little bobba yet although when I had DS, the two older children insisted on calling him 'Kenneth'. I have no idea why. It was lucky that his birth provoked such excitement in them that they totally forgot about referring to him as Kenneth - I was so worried that the name would stick, especially as we'd had a boy!
