Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

Hi all, I've tried to catch up with you all but I got completely confused with who was who (doesn't take much these days to confuse me!).

I've had bad morning/day/night sickness for weeks now that has completely wiped me out, I'm looking forward to my scan tomorrow but I'm really nervous too, plus I really, really hate needles. So, good luck to everyone having their scans too soon .

Oblomov · 23/04/2008 08:25

I was on another thread last night. And it just reminded me:
If I didn't spell it out clearly enough to you guys before:
I want to REALLY REALLY THANK YOU for all your kind words, love and support, since I have joined the November Antenatal thread.
You have been such a support to me and I can not thank you enough.

dozymare · 23/04/2008 08:39

Morning All,

Off for scan at 11.45........... Good Luck to all those who also have scans today. Heres praying for only good results today! xxxxxxx

serendippity · 23/04/2008 09:25

Morning all
Aww the lurrve vibe is strong today!
I had my first blood test yesterday and was freaking out, i hate needles, but it was the easiest test i've ever had. I genuinley didn't feel the needle going in. Only the hope the rest are so easy!
renaissancewoman It's not suprising you are still haunted by that. It would affect anyone. Hugs to you.
I would love a waterbirth, i wanted one with dd but it didn't happen. Yours sounds fab!
emmanj i was told if there was a problem the midwife would contact you and if there wasn't you'd hear from the surgery. I'm not sure if it's the same everywhere tho, maybe give your doctors a ring?
My MS is easing thank goodness and the mysterious sciatica appears to have gone! 2 days of amazing agony and then all gone. Weird huh?
I am feeling very hormonal tho and teary, i can't remember from dd if this levels out the further you go or it...gets worse..eek.
I am 9 weeks today!

smilesattheweekend · 23/04/2008 09:30

Good luck with scan Pinkali, will be thinking of you - let us know how you get on - have to wait til 4pm for mine, leaving work at 3 though!.

X

Pinkali37 · 23/04/2008 09:33

Thanks Smiles - will be thinking about you too. Had the msot awful nights sleep last time which I imagine you did too! Have spent the morning under my dressing room lights ensuring I still have blue veins on boobs (V funny sight) and I have also discovered them on the side of my tummy. YIKES...... I just pray for us all. xxxx

smilesattheweekend · 23/04/2008 09:40

Woke at 4.50 and couldn't get back to sleep, gave up at 5.30 and went downstairs and had cup of tea, tired now!

I have stretch marks from last time still (yuk) but they look worse because of bruises from heparin injections, kind of purple with white streaks in them from the stretch marks!!!! I don't care though!

Hello everyone - I thought I might join this thread as I am expecting on 1/2 November (private scan said 2nd, NHS said 1st)

I was a bit superstitious to do so before the 12 week scan, which we had yesterday, but now I have decided full steam ahead!!

So hello all!

Creena · 23/04/2008 10:06

Morning ladies!

Thanks for posting that link, Oblomov - poor Mad4; she's really having a tough time right now.

Good luck to Pinkali, Browny and everyone else having scans today! Fingers crossed for you and can't wait to hear what your little beans were up to on the big screen!

Daisy & Juanitad - I'm dismayed to hear that you've been told to cancel your dating scans if you've had a nuchal scan done. That seems so penny pinching (big surprise, NHS penny pinching). It's not like that at all where I live. Last time (DS born in May 2007) and this time, my midwife has told me that I'll have a dating scan and an anomaly scan done at the hospital but not a NT scan but if I want one of those, I just have to organise it myself. The only difference it will make to my care is that if I have the NT scan plus blood tests, then I shouldn't get my triple blood test done at the hospital because they may give different (and confusing) results. She didn't say anything about not having my dating scan - just no triple blood test. It really is a postcode lottery, isn't it?

Right. DS is finally napping. I'm off to have a quick shower before he wakes up again!

Hypnobirthing is excellent, Hana - go for it! I would really like a water birth but as I want a home birth too, it all depends on whether we manage to sell up and move before the birth. If not, then we won't have room anywhere for a birthing pool (I may even have to rethink the home birth, due to lack of space). Fingers crossed we do move. I'm also worrying about the admin headache it might cause, Hana but my midwife assures me that it will be easy to switch to a new care provider (we're also planning on moving out of our current area).

Right. I'm going to stop faffing now and I'm really off to have that shower!

Heartmum2Jamie · 23/04/2008 12:03

Good luck to Pinkali, Browny and anyone else with a scan today.

Welcome Daniya! Congrats on your 12 week scan!

I was contemplating a waterbirth too. The hospital I am going to has a birthing unit, which is basically 2 rooms at the end of the labour ward which are used for natural deliveries. One has a birthing pool in it, the other is a home from home room. I am not overly bothered which room I use, but know I want to be in one of the rooms, or maybe even at home. I hope baby comes quickly leaving me no time to get to hospital as I hate them so much (spent alot of time in an out of hospitals with ds2.) I doubt dh would go for an outright homebirth if I mention it to him.

good luck for the scans today ladies

I met with my doula this morning; she is lovely and we got on like a house on fire. she has been chasing up the pro-VBAC consultant on my behalf and says I should ask for my care to be transferred.

juanita, she talked about the pools at LGI being closed, but says they're due to re-open again. apparently it was to do with problems with the drainage initially and then H&S decreed they weren't safe as there was no hoist for lifting women in and out (can you imagine the sight of a womean in the throes of labour being lifted in and out!) Anyway, they still have no hoist but have come up with a solution that works so they are up and running again. Re cancelling the NHS scan....you can always "forget" to cancel your NHS scan....stingy buggers!

for those having an elective; the staff were just brilliant when I had mine last year and I certainly didn't feel that I was treated any differently. The theatre staff were all great, and post-natal couldn't be more helpful.. Ask for an amenity (semi-private) bed if your maternity unit has them available. I did and it was well worth the £40 a night it cost, for the peace and quiet and a chance to recover from the op.

hi to daniya and welcome to the thread. congratulations on your pregnancy; No1 I assume?

gotta go, DH wanting his laptop back. It's great having him here at home, but he is severely compromising my MN time . He's off back to work tomorrow though and I might not see him till Sunday!!

smilesattheweekend · 23/04/2008 13:09

Pinkali - where are you, my nails are down to the quick - I think I am focussing on you rather than worry about my scan later - I am sure that time is slowing down!!!!!

Pinkali37 · 23/04/2008 13:45

HI ALL YIPPEE WHOPPEE PEA/TARQUIN is absolutely fine. Strong heart beat, all limbs and measures just over 4.5cm (am 10wk + 6days). Listen to this it will make you laugh. BLoody NHS and protocol.. Turned up and waited 15 minutes. MW came through to say she was really sorry but the sonographer had just read my notes and seen I had a scan at 8 + 4 so she was refusing to scan me again (although as the mw pointed out she woudl only be tapping her nails until the next lady turned up), as you can imagine I burst into tears!!! They took me into a room, looked at my history and had a word with the sonographer. Apparently she had already turned one lady away and would only now scan me as I had been on clomid and to look at my ovaries and ensure i had hyperstimulated. Give someone a bit of power and see what happens! Anyway as she was scanning my ovaries I burst into tears again and she looked for Tarquin. He was there and moved around a lot. I thanked her immensley (even though I really wanted to shake her and shout "I THOUGHT THE REASON TO HAVE POWER WAS SO YOU COULD BEND THE BLO*DY RULES" but i didn't. Anyway came away with 6 pictures and am so relieved.

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR KIND WORDS OF SUPPORT OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS, I KNOW I MUST HAVE BEEN A BIT OF A NUTTER xxxxx

Have to go back to hopsital now to have bloods done.

SMILES - WIshing you all the luck in the world. BReath deeply and please let us know. xxxxxxxx

Daniya · 23/04/2008 13:58

Pinkali I am so pleased for you - its nice to hear good news on here!!

Smiles - good luck for your scan and I hope you also have good news to share!

Lackadaisycal - yes this is my first and very unplanned baby!!

smilesattheweekend · 23/04/2008 14:06

Bloody Hell Pinkali - what a load of b*sht. I hope she is pleased with herself, maybe a little bit of time out on the naughty step wouldn't go amiss!! Glad tarquin is ok. Looking forward to seeing Tidgy 9have everything crossed, this time in an hour I will be on my way to the hospital - yikes. Will log on later to let you know how I get on, won't be til around 6 oclock, by the time I have had scan, seen recurrent mc consultant and then gone to hospital pharmacy (which is like a timewarp) to get more heparin. Roll on 4pm!!!

XX

Thanks to everyone for their best wishes. You lot are lovely X

lackaDAISYcal · 23/04/2008 14:16

yay pinkali . I'm so pleased for you, but at the uppity sonnographer. Now for gawd's sake woman......relax!

daniya...my first was a "definately unplanned" one as well. Can't imagine that now though. Come to think of it, DD was the only one who was planned, and it took three pregnancies to get that right. Maybe not planning is the key

smiles we're rooting for you!

lackaDAISYcal · 23/04/2008 14:18

I'm lolling at the names. We have christened ours button!

AutumnLady · 23/04/2008 14:26

afternoon all

Congrats pinkali, so glad the scan went well and shame on the sonographer for upsetting you

Good luck to Smiles and all others who have scans this afternoon - am thinking of you all. Mine is on Monday afternoon and can't wait.

lol about the names we have on here for our little bundles of joy to be. we have named ours 'bump', not very original but it has just kind of stuck!!

xxx

Daniya · 23/04/2008 14:51

Just to add to the list of baby in belly names - ours is called Peanut - as when we first saw it on the scan at 8+2 it was the size of a peanut and now its stuck!!

LolaBella · 23/04/2008 14:52

Pinkali so so pleased for you. My scan is at 6pm this evening and am also biting my nails down. Going to stay at work and wait for dp to pick me up at five so trying to keep busy.
Smiles good luck to you too. Hope we all have lovely tales and babies to show off at the end of the day

cricri · 23/04/2008 14:55

Great news Pinkali Hopefully you can relax a bit now. at the sonographer though - how petty is that?!
Smiles Thinking of you - you must be on your way to the hospital now.
I'd better start thinking of some names for the bean from what I've been reading from you lot - we've been very unoriginal and have been calling it "baby"

cricri · 23/04/2008 14:55

Lolabella X-posted with you - good luck for your scan too!
