Congratulations VS! I hope you're OK, and that you have bonded well with Alex - lovely name. And what a size! I hope you are on your way home soon. x

Scampmum · 16/04/2008 11:11

Morning all - hope you new mums are doing OK! How you feeling, PFJ and Bunyan? I realised today I have to relish this spare time and not even think about boredom. Have been missing DD whilst she's at nursery (and asleep!) BUT it is going to be such a lifeline when LO arrives.

Hot curry last night and we finished The Wire Season 1 (ordered 2 and 3 this morning on Amazon, obsessed, moi?) with me watching on all fours so feel like I'm doing (a very small portion of) the right stuff .

I am STARVING today. So hungry that I have been entertaining thoughts of going to the high st and buying a sandwich toaster. Am I bonkers? Has anyone got one? Thought it might be good for snack lunches when I have a baby, or am I just going to set the house on fire?

BabyBratt · 16/04/2008 11:35

hi everyone sat in hospital bored to tears. my blood pressure went sky high but they are too busy to do anything to me. im 39 weeks. they might induce me.

congratulations to all the new mums.

TLSM · 16/04/2008 11:35

Ohh I have one now I know what I am having for lunch (mouth watering)

Peachy gosh two teeth already and I cant believe you have to do so much uni work!

Ok I would recommend no one to try the castor oil approach all it did for me was keep me on the toilet all night nice! I think I must resign myself to the fact Tom will come out when he is good and ready and not before hand!

Hope Scorpio and Molly are having better luck both havent posted yet today

Scampmum · 16/04/2008 11:42

Ooh that's true, they are normally quite early posters, too. How exciting!

Forgot my at Basty being born with teeth.

TLSM you poor thing.

BabyBratt · 16/04/2008 11:43

someone told me that paracetamol can stop early laboyr. there is ladyy nextt to me who is being induced but nothing is happening she is so fed up.

eva07 · 16/04/2008 11:43

and carey is 'missing' too...

TLSM · 16/04/2008 11:49

bet they are just all out at lunch although Molly was getting all the right pains yesterday and had a sweep! I bet she is next

Babybratt when i went into early last at 35+6 they gave me pethiden (I know that is spelt wrong!) to stop it which it did i think thats why I am willing him out so much now because I feel like I should have had him over 2 weeks ago although very glad I didnt as he would have been way too early!

TLSM · 16/04/2008 11:52

Saying that Scorpio had a sweep booked for this morning so could be why she is absent Molly usally post quite early but she does have her Mum there.... i still think she is in labour though

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 16/04/2008 11:53

Morning all... hmm - fingers crossed it is all kicking off for Molly, Carey and Scorpio!

Had a MW appointment yesterday and cried my eyes out - for no real reason. Very ! She said to me that she reckons baby will be here in the next week as in her experience when a mum to be cries as much as I did for no reason it mean baby is on its way... we shall see! This one feels like she/he is waaay to comfy to get moving just yet!

Scampmum · 16/04/2008 11:58

Ooh, good luck Carey, too!

Am so hungry I just have to have lunch. at your sandwich toaster, TLSM (and anyone else).

eva07 · 16/04/2008 12:02

Mum2b2BabyRoo, sorry, but that sounds like good news. I've been crying the last days too and on sunday there's a full moon

TLSM · 16/04/2008 12:03

lol and its a Bart Simpson one

EllieG has also gone very quite ohhh another for the list she is due tomorrow!

TLSM · 16/04/2008 12:04

oh is there Eva thats meant to bring it on yes lets all have our babies on sunday

eva07 · 16/04/2008 12:04

lol scamp
if your oven has a grill, you could use this instead?

BabyBratt · 16/04/2008 12:05

i hope that crying thing is true. i've had bad period pains today. being my first im naive to the real thing and pain. might just sit here eating.

they woke me at 7.30am to do my bloods. thats just mean.

i love coming on here and seeing how many lo's have arrived.

eva07 · 16/04/2008 12:06

I really hope baby comes before or after. I'm sure the birthing pool will be occupied constantly during a full moon and I so want to use it

Scampmum · 16/04/2008 12:16

Contractions felt just like period pains to me, BabyBratt. That's what I'm waiting for again this time, though have only had about 2 periods since June 05 so don't 100% trust myself to remember what they're like! Also distinctive was the buildup and winddown 'wave' sensation.

Had my sandwich, put a pitta in the toaster, opened it, put cheese and pesto in, then added roasted veg and the chicken DD refused for her tea yesterday. YUM. Think I will have another one when she is asleep this afternoon.

DH read his stars last night (Scorpio) and that basically said we'd have the baby on Sun. So that's that, then. I had always felt today (16th) would be the day but it's not looking particularly likely. Sunday is 1 day after DD's birthday!

northeastmummy · 16/04/2008 12:24

Yum Scamp - that sandwich sounds great! I've been thinking about getting a sandwich toaster too weirdly. Maybe it's a last minute craving? I think you get panini ones now which I LOVE - would be very exciting if I could make them at home.

It is ominously quiet on here today so far isn't it? Maybe there'll be a rush of babies all at once .

I hope you're not going too crazy in hospital Babybrat. My early labour pains were very like period pains too so hopefully it's a good sign.

I also cried A LOT the day I went into labour with DD1 so definitely a good sign I'd say.

northeastmummy · 16/04/2008 12:27

PFJ - you've had tons of good advice already but I just wondered if you'd tried feeding from a sling at all? I have great hopes for hands free feeding with my new sling! I didn't attempt it with DD1 but had similar frustrations to you being stuck sitting around a lot of the time so am determined to work out a better option this time.

EllieG · 16/04/2008 12:27

Just been busy sadly.

Woo-hoo! for VS! What a whopper! Great size and great name

Loads to catch up from - sorry if missed anything v important - just wanted to add hugs to ladies struggling with BF -

sheds - don't worry lovely lady, remember your LO is healthy and well and progressing nicely, and that is the MOST important thing, ff or bf or whatever.

And ((((hugs)))) to PFJ - i have no advice to give you as have never done it before either - apart from to say it sounds very hard and I am taking my hat off to you for trying it. But don't feel bad if doesn't work out.

DP has 2 days off! Is lovely day and he has taken DSD out for bike ride and picnic. Am a bit as this is the kind of thing I love doing, but is good for them to have time together. Not to mention good for me to have some time on my own for a bit. Am going to sit on my patio later and try to ignore the builders next door.

EllieG · 16/04/2008 12:28

Oh yes, forgot. Hugs to babybratt - sounds v dull hon, though at least you have MN access!

northeastmummy · 16/04/2008 13:57

Did i see somewhere that VS didn't even know she was pregnant with DD1 ? I didn't realise that! I knew she didn't expect her - but I had thought she was just put under aneasthetic for something and they ended up birthing baby early.

Anyway VS, if you ever catch up with this thread, I hope all's going well with new LO and you're getting to know each other very well.

Scampmum · 16/04/2008 13:59

Gosh, we ARE quiet today! Unlike DD, who is in bed but still singing... I should leave her as I know I need her to have this nap when I have the baby, or at least get used to quiet time (she is in the dark in her cot!) - she's so cute, though!

NEM, DH has vetoed but I think the best one looks like the Kenwood SM606 in case you do end up getting one! (not that I have been obsessively researching it or anything)

Time for sandwich number 2, I think.

Scampmum · 16/04/2008 13:59

I didn't realise that about VS either! amazing.
