Gosh, sooo many posts to read! Only been off the computer for a day!!

Congrats PFJ, I was starting to worry too - so glad little Jack is here, take care of yourself, and get lots of rest! Also congrats to everyone else who has popped, I can't remember now who I have congratulated already! Duh!

I'm officially fed up of pregnancy too today, and my DH is being a bit useless. I think they go all in to major denial or something!! (Or are frantically grabbing at the last few weeks of freedom!!)

From my dates I'm due on Sat, but from scan I'm due a week on friday. Not sure which will be most likely. But I haven't had any indication, not one twinge yet! Also in the last few days I've swelled up to enormous levels, my bump is MASSIVE (and I'm only little!!). Urgh.

Dreckly???? LOL out at your shock at teasy scorpio. Glad we got to the bottom of it though.

Ellie/scorpio - you are growing a baby!!! If you can't ask for help now, when can you ask? Like you say scorpio, if you're not the sort who normally asks, it'll be clear that you really need it now so just do it .

Thank GOODNESS PFJ ... and huge congratulations on the arrival of Jack. So sorry you're having a difficult time, but hopefully it'll come good soon. Don't feel you have to keep us up to date - it's just good to know you're ok. We were all getting so worried.

I just went to a bumps n babies coffee and was speaking to a girl who had a 36 hour labour, got to fully dilated, pushed for 2 hours then ended up with a section. What made me laugh was she was an obstetrician!! Luckily she could see the funny side herself .

All was fine at my antenatal check. So I don't see anyone now until I'm 9 days overdue - yikes!

Scorpio please don't beat yourself up about being knackered - I'm the same as you, I'll cope with everything...But let's face it you are not this pregnant every day and it's perfectly understandable to just not give a toss about the small things now. I have paperwork starting to pile up, can't be arsed eating in the evenings (DH comes home asking what we're having for dinner and I just can't face the thought of eating at that time of the day anymore...v.odd) and have basically lost the will to do anything else except have this baby. It's like Scamp says, you're now officially pregheadded and perfectly entitled to do nothing else except focus on you and baby.

We had take away curry last nite (v.good call methinks, seems to be working!) and my dd is now eating baked beans, rice, salad and quorn nuggets - really easy to knock up but vaguely virtuous too.

Wow Toast I want my DH to be like yours!!!! Serious

Well, I've just painted half of DS's bedroom, just waiting for it to dry so I can move his bed and do the rest, have cleaned the larder, the fridge, the cupboards and done the normal housework, what else can I do?

Might as well use these last few days productively!

DP is going to be coming in and going straight back out tonight, he is going to squash and then out for a pint with his squash partner so will probably be out til about 8ish and I'm sooo bored already.

Ellie - thanks for that! Just me being MN illiterate then, which is a relief - I was getting paranoid that we're just too ugly and everyone being too tactful to say anything!!! Ah, great it worked now

He's just brilliant, and very easy going. The 3 of us went for our first stroll and lunch at the coffee shop today, and it was just lovely. As long as he's fed and clean/dry he seems happy.

DS was like that, I never heard a peep from him, I was out having lunch at the pub with the girls by the time he was four days old and he just sat there being fawned over.

Well, it's been an interesting 2 weeks. I booked leave off work for Monday to Thursday last week to get some rest before the little one comes along.

Monday night (31st/1st) I started having mild period pains but I thought I had an upset stomach.

Tuesday morning I had a show, but as they say, it doesn't necessarily mean baby's coming

Tuesday night the pains were worse. Wednesday my parents came to see me in the morning, and my sister (a midwife) came as well. We decided I should go into work to tie up loose ends.

I was having pains on the way there and back, as well as at the office. People were worried I would have the baby there. Anyway I eventually finished off (very rapidly) what I had to do and we made our way home.

The pains got progressively worse and the afternoon/evening wore on. Another sister (also a midwife) came in the late evening and showed me how to breathe through the contractions and also a position that would help the labour progress. After she left, the pains I got were too much for me to talk during, unlike before!

I later decided to run a bath (around midnight), and lay on the bed waiting for it to fill. I told my husband to turn the water off and shortly after he came back, my waters broke! He rang my parents and they advised we go to hospital. I rang and told them the contractions were 5mins apart - I don't know if that was true.

Anyway, we were in hospital by 12.30, and when examined, I was 4cm. I had entonox, and later pethidine. My husband and another sister were with me, reminding me to relax and breathe deeply. When I got the pushing sensation, I would try and hold it in, and that made me not breathe for some reason

After all that, I delivered a beautiful baby boy. 2.96kg (sorry, I don't know lb and oz) at 4.38am I had a second degree tear and the anaesthetic down there was PAINFUL!!

I was out of the hospital by around 5.30. Overall my experience was a very good one. The midwife I had was very good with me, and I will definitely have another one. Let's just hope it goes as well as this one. The pain didn't reach the level that I had imagined in my mind, a very good thing!

All the best to you still waiting and those who have had their little ones. It's amazing, despite the sleepless nights!!

Ah, thanks everyone . I've gone all mushy over him, trying my best (without much luck) to stop telling everyone about him, hehehe. Glad I've got you lot, at least we all feel the same about our little ones (whether still cooking or already served!)!
