Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

DP has gone out for the night, be back about 4am. (not drinking)
Mum is here. I hope this is tempting fate.
-pokes fate-

VictorianSqualor · 04/04/2008 20:16

I just remembered we were considering Tiffany for a name for a DD!
Thank goodness we didn't have baby already and use that name now Bianca is back in Eastenders!!!(her DD is Tiffany!)

ThePFJ · 04/04/2008 20:18

hehe VS my mum is watching Eastenders, and then she flicks back to Corrie afterwards. I am not a soap watcher myself, but I'll certainly be up to date with them all by the time she is finished with me!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 04/04/2008 20:25

It is VERY annoying that Bianca is back in Eastenders! Especially as my name is Bianca! When I 1st moved here, I would get the whole Riiccccccckyy thing everytime someone found out my name. That has only stopped in the last 2 years (I have been here 10!) So I guess I am gong to have to get used to hearing people screech Riiccccckky everytime they hear my name again... sigh...

ThePFJ · 04/04/2008 20:27

I'll try not to say it then M2B2BR

bunnyrabbit · 04/04/2008 20:32

Not got time to read all as you all talk too much

Molly, you poor thing. This is why I always work in the City (close to Liverpool st) and do not get on the tube!! Red buses for me... Your DH and friends must have been besides themselves. Well done for not panicking, or wetting yourself!!

MW would not come and see me today so had to go to stupid DAU and have stupid discharge checked out, only 'cos stupid MW said it could affect me having a homebirth if it's a UTI. I think they do it on purpose to upset me.

Turns out it's thrush, and cervix is not even slightly ready for launch.

Bollocks. No LO tomorrow then. Late again.

And they won't do a sweep till 40+5!

Anyone have a self sweep manual??

Thoroughly pissed off.

Awaiting DHs return with Thai takeaway.

BR

ThePFJ · 04/04/2008 20:37

A self sweep?!
I could never get my fingers all the way up there. Bump is too big!!!
I guess if you or your DP did manage to do it safely one of you would get to stroke babies head! -sniff- I welled up when MW told me she touched my babies head. He wriggled too in reaction.

AussieDivaOnABreak · 04/04/2008 20:49

Wow I'm beginning to think my MW's are treating me like royalty. They visit me at home, give me loads of time while I make them cups of tea and then offer to sweep me a day after my due date instead of having to wait until 41 weeks. I'm really crossing my fingers that the whole HB thing comes off because if the MWs behave anything like my antenatal it will be a truly wonderful experience - and on the NHS! Extraordinary. I feel really fortunate...

ThePFJ · 04/04/2008 20:54

Would you say the NHS is better than you expected then Aussie? Whats your experience outside the UK?

scorpio1 · 04/04/2008 21:08

Re Evening Primose: How much/when do you take? Can i get it in Health food shop?

chipmonkey · 04/04/2008 21:10

I've gotten it in pharmacies, scorpio.

scorpio1 · 04/04/2008 21:11

Thanks, i'm guessing bottle will say dosage etc.

VictorianSqualor · 04/04/2008 21:14

bunny, to do a sweep you need to be already dilated slightly, if your cervix is closed it will not be possible.
Basically what you need to do is make sure hands are REALLY clean, get DH/P to insert two fingers into the cervix and gently try and seperate it.
Personally I'm all for a feel to see how things are coming along but I don't know quite how far I'd want to go with an actual sweep by someone untrained.

VictorianSqualor · 04/04/2008 21:15

I boguht evening primrose in holland and barratt but you'll get it most anywhere, even tescos I'd assume!
You need to take one/two capsules three times a day orally, you can also put the oil on your cervix direct.

scorpio1 · 04/04/2008 21:16

Thanks VS, think i will be leaving my cervix alone though, the blood the other day was scary.

TLSM · 04/04/2008 21:17

Here's the link from the other day says quite a bit about evening primrose I just got the tablets from Asda Link

TLSM · 04/04/2008 21:22

It also says about a sweep and what it does I found it quite interesting i started using the evening primrose oil this week to insert it I am using a syringe that I got with max's medicine my doctor gave me a whole load of them in their little packets so ideal!

jenniejennie · 04/04/2008 21:23

I dont want anyone touching my cervix, guess im going to have to get over that phobia pretty damn soon!! Aint no way I would let DH have a go looking for it though!

scorpio1 · 04/04/2008 21:24

thanks for link

Could use to do p.massage, bit weird about putting it on my cervix though after bleeding the other day.

TLSM · 04/04/2008 21:25

To be fair I never put it on my cervix just shoot it up in that direction

ThePFJ · 04/04/2008 21:25

Word of caution.. Check the back of the pack carefully. Most Cod liver oils/evening primroses from supermarkets etc also include vit A, B C and all sorts of extras which aren't mentioned on the front of the pack.
I have a big bottle of evening primrose here which I'd love to take.. but I dont want to risk taking 100% of my RDA of vit A everytime I take just one tablet!!

scorpio1 · 04/04/2008 21:25

lol, mental images of shooting it up

scorpio1 · 04/04/2008 21:26

ooh thanks pfj.

TLSM · 04/04/2008 21:28

ohh I will have a look do you think vit A up your whatsit makes a difference

scorpio1 · 04/04/2008 21:29

nah.
