Hello all - hope everyone is OK. Feeling a bit ropey again today...

On the food front, shellfish is fine as long as it's well cooked and hot - i.e. avoid prawn sandwiches or that kind of thing. I'm avoiding mussels though, as i've had horrible food poisoning from them before and just can't convince myself they are OK. I'm avoiding blue and soft cheeses and making sure all meat is cooked through. Also, cooked chilled meats are bad - salami, parma ham that kind of thing.

I have to admit, that although they suggest avoiding pre-washed fruit and veg and premade sandwiches, I consider this to be completely impractical - especially if you are trying to eat healthily!! Just avoid these things if you eat out somewhere dodgy?!!

On the tea/coffee front, the recommendation is to drink no more than 3 caffeinated drinks per day - I switched to decaf tea and coffee when I was TTC, and the nicest tea is Twinings (Waitrose stock it, don't know where else), Tetley is OK, Typhoo is rough. Have since gone off all hot drinks anyway...

At the moment, I don't fancy much beyond mash, simple pastas, tomato soup and cheese!!

Good grief it's been busy on here. Hugs to all who are having a difficult time at the mo.

Just had booking appt with midwife. I'd forgotten how many questions they ask!! My edd changed and got my scan so have updated list. Renaissancewoman looks like we're due date, scan date and number of kids twins!!

Feeling a bit sad as I was hoping for a home birth or birthing centre this time but as I was diagnosed with GBS after having my 1st dc, the midwife has said I really need to be thinking about a hospital birth.

This is my third dc and as I'm new to the area I know nothing about the hospitals and have no family near. So I'm panicking about superbugs and wondering what will happen to my children while I'm 20 miles away giving birth. A whole lot of new things to lose sleep over!!

My last labour was only 2hrs so hoping that this one is too quick to even get to hospital (providing I'm GBS negative obviously!).

Anyway sorry about the moan. Others on here have much more serious issues to contend with. looking forward to scan now and then at least I can tell everyone.

LolaBella · 02/04/2008 13:33

Don't know if this is morning sickness or a sickness bug but i feel so poorly.

I have not managed to keep any food down since sunday afternoon and not many more fluids. I went for my first MW appointment on Mon and she seems to think it is a bug as i was being sick every hour and a half. I now have diarrhoea too (sorry TMI). I feel so miserable. I really hope it is a bug because if this is MS its really nasty. My poor bean must be starving!

I'm just over 9 weeks and i read somewhere that this is when MS can be at its worst. Anybody know if this is true?
Anyway, glad others are not too bad, excellent news for you Pinkali x

mad4mybaby · 02/04/2008 13:35

Just got my scan date for next tuesday where i think i will be 7+1. Dh wont be here though so going to try to change it.

Feel v sick today.

Ceebee tell me how you cope with ds?? I took my ds out this am to meet his friends at a paint and play thing and then half hour in an indoor play area. It was a nightmare. He was running all over the place. i couldnt keep up. was knackerd and my heart was racing and got all hot! Plus feeling sick. It was so stressful.

Glad to hear your news pink

Heartmum2Jamie · 02/04/2008 13:35

LolaBella, you poor thing! I can't imagine how ropey you must be feeling. For a bit of reassurance, I have also hear that MS peaks between 9 & 10 weeks, in my case, evening sickness started again just before 9 weeks. I hope you start to feel better real soon. HUGS

bubbaz · 02/04/2008 13:38

Poor you Lolabella sounds awful.
Twinkling thinking of you hope its good news.
Great news for you Pinkali
My Midwife asked me at my booking appointment if I wanted a VBAC or Elective and when I asked if it was my decision she said no it would be the consultant at 34 weeks - And the point of asking me was?????
Don't feel too bad today but I don'e leave it long enough between food to start, I've already put half a stone on ooops!
EmmaJ I too have been predicted twins, I'm huge too and there is twins on both sides - Oh dear!!

xx

hodgepodge · 02/04/2008 13:39

Hello all do you mind if I join? I'm due November 13th though haven't had a scan yet so could be slightly later - this is my first pregnancy and it's soooo nice to hear other people are feeling awful (if you know what i mean!)

mad4mybaby · 02/04/2008 13:41

hi hodge, yes know what you mean, makes you feel more normal.

Any of you had a scan at 7 weeks? Did they do it internally? Just rang the hosp and asked them and they said they will do it externally as all they are looking for is the heartbeat...

bubbaz · 02/04/2008 13:45

mad I had a scan at 7 weeks with DS and they tried to do a normal one first but could only see the sac so did an internal to see if they could find the heartbeat which they did. Its not too bad, a little uncomfortable though x

LolaBella · 02/04/2008 13:48

Hi Mad, i had a scan at 6w +5 and they did it externally and could see my bean and its little flashing heartbeat - it was lovely. I think somethimes they do it internally too if they can't see the heartbeat so they can get a clearer picture - so be prepared to have both.

Thank to HMTJ and Bubbaz for your kind words. Hopefully then it might peak soon and i can face food again. x

pinkyminky · 02/04/2008 13:57

I drink redbush tea quite a lot, it's not very strong, but it's got a taste you might like if you like malty tea like Assam.

Sppoky dh intuition, Oblomov!
MY friend keeps saying I'm having a boy but I think that's cos she has two and has lots of boy clothes to share!

lauren, I had no MS with ds, but have it now.
I don't think it is necessarily relevant whether you had it before.
