OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Well I also wanted to say things like 'tear him a new a-hole, ram a melon up there and then see if HE can push that sodding thing out' but... I thought I might cause some kind of thread carnage.

NEED chocolate cake.

scorpio1 · 21/03/2008 19:01

scorpio1 · 21/03/2008 19:01

Millie is allowed to come after next weekend, so i get one last weekend with DH.

ThePFJ · 21/03/2008 19:01

I know what you mean VS... 9 days til my due date.. and I am literally CLIMBING THE WALLS.

scorpio1 · 21/03/2008 19:03

VS, you know breastfeeding...

well i have the first creamy (almost orangey??) milk now, have for a while, but not much - does something happen when she is born to kick more of the first milk in?? I know it takes a few days for the proper milk, but is the bit in the beginning enough becuase there isnt much? @ my obvious lack of knowledge!

VictorianPASqualor · 21/03/2008 19:11

It;s fine, she won't take much for the first day or two anyway, the colustrum is plenty for her, once your placenta comes away and she starts to suckle the hormones tell your body to make it, take a day or two to come in fully.

scorpio1 · 21/03/2008 19:12

and will she feed straight away; snuffle or what?? Am really considering just trying the first feed with the MW's help and support.

VictorianPASqualor · 21/03/2008 19:22

She'll probably try and latch on, have you seen the breastcrawl video?

scorpio1 · 21/03/2008 19:23

No, but i have read something about it, the baby being placed on tummy then using its limbs to slowly get there and latch on.

VictorianPASqualor · 21/03/2008 19:23

Watch this
The natural instinct is for a baby to try and root for it.

scorpio1 · 21/03/2008 19:23

Jamie tried to latch, big wide mouth, head going from side to side.

ThePFJ · 21/03/2008 19:23

Whats the breastcrawl video?

ThePFJ · 21/03/2008 19:24

Thanks VS

VictorianPASqualor · 21/03/2008 19:25

Aww, don't be sad Scorpio!
Not everyone is cut out for BFing and at least you're considering it this time

scorpio1 · 21/03/2008 19:31

wow that was great!! That baby was so beautiful and i was willing her to get it, lol!

VictorianPASqualor · 21/03/2008 19:32

It makes me tearful every time I watch it

ThePFJ · 21/03/2008 19:47

VS you are so handy!
IF you have any more videos and cool websites up your sleeve do share them!!!
That contraction timer was brilliant, for example...

That goes for everyone here. If you have any internet gems please share share share!!

Thank you xxx

Mollyfloss · 21/03/2008 20:31

That video is great. So the WHO recommends bf exclusively for 6 months but then I heard something else about 2 years... I presume after 6 months they recommend weaning plus bf but no formula?

VictorianPASqualor · 21/03/2008 20:34

Yes Molly, only bm for the first six months, then weaning onto solids plus bm.
The main source of nutrition for the first year is BM, but then for the second year continue to BF and give food.

PJF, depends what you want! I have tons of bookmarks on Breastfeeding/VBAC because it's something that really interests me.

I kind of gather them as I go round MN

scorpio1 · 21/03/2008 20:35

Ahh DH so cute...

he is supposed to be away tomorrow night watching some fights, i text him asking if he was going still, looking forward to it and he said 'no think gonna come home i miss my boys and my wife and my bed x'

Peachy · 21/03/2008 20:41

Molly, I downloaded stand and deliver, rock me amadeus and the kids from fame LOL [blsuh]- quality stuff! Also a little less conversation, as I reckon thats the ideal labour track

Scorpio- we're 3 miles from newport. But you weren't in Somerset first (my family traceable to the 1600's minimum!)

DS1 actually did the baby crawl, given all the problem he had experienced it was an amazing moment.

I have become convinced this baby isn't coming out, i've been doing the six hours of contraction pains pre-labour for over a month now, and totally given up. nothing, but nothing will induce this fella so think I am going to have to go do something else like get a job or something.

scorpio1 · 21/03/2008 20:43

No, you can have Somerset; its only my outlaws that live there, 2 years ago. You can keep them, lol!

Nan is in hospital in Newport.

ThePFJ · 21/03/2008 20:43

Not sure really VS. Just interesting stuff I guess. If you think of something that could tickle our fancy please please post it. But don't worry about it. I am happy just knowing you girls are here to chat to!

Scorpio - Awwwwwwwww to your DH. I love it when they are like that!!!

scorpio1 · 21/03/2008 20:44

although have just got slightly ruder text

ThePFJ · 21/03/2008 20:46

Do we WANT to hear about it?

Probably. Do tell!!
