Hope all is going ok for Jay?

HQ, sorry to hear that your dh's nan passed away. As you said at least the last memory you have of her is a happy one.

Think things may be starting to happen here. I have had a little bit of a show for the past couple of hours. I also feel like I need the toilet more often than not. I'm getting excited now as I'm 40+6 today, and I just want to meet the little fella. I am booked in for a sweep tomorrow and I take it that they will still do it? I suppose my cervix will be more favourable though.

merryberry · 13/03/2008 15:09

From phone for c4it. Was told to expect about 9lb 8. Uch cons was not phased by my plan at that size. Had very careful prep with ind midwife. Literally practised the moves needed in one visit. These worked. More later. Feed time

CricketsMum · 13/03/2008 15:45

MMH - Be strong! It is NOT your problem that they don't have many staff on at the weekend. If you don't want to go in until tomorrow morning then don't! I get really cross when the NHS says that they won't put your best interests first (in this case ensuring you are as relaxed and comfortable as possible) because it doesn't suit them! As for having your DH there - I would absolutely want mine to be there too so I think you need to stick to your guns! Good luck!

marchmama · 13/03/2008 16:27

Thanks MMH - I agree with the others - I would want DH there as well - and who's to say that the induction won't work right away or that it will need to go into the weekend? Be strong. (although I know that's easier said than done)
Good Luck, I'm sure it will be fine. Just focus on the beautiful baby you will have at the end of all this.

Things looking favourable over here - just went in for a sweep and assessment and apparently I'm 3 cm already...?
The sweep seems to have given the baby a nudge though cause contractions coming regular now.

Not sure when I should call the hospital? They're every 10 minutes or so but don't last very long... DH won't be home for another half hour.

turtle23 · 13/03/2008 17:03

Marchmama- Welcome,...and bye from this side from the looks of it!! God luck!
Cricket...don't want to get my hopes up as it's evening again, but have had a few more like earlier...and it all seems to have set my tummy off again. So much for the ball bearings.

marchmama good luck!

MMH even though i'm new to this thread can i wholeheartedly agree with everyone else - you're not in there at the time they want to make their lives easier, and i know that on AN wards there are no exceptions. if you can please stick to your guns and go in tomorrow morning.

sorry am having a bit of a time of it with ds to say much else! you'll be pleased about that once i've been on this thread for a while

ibblewob · 13/03/2008 18:17

Hi everyone, can't read posts as don't have internet at moment (can you believe it!?) but just to let you know baby Isobel Rose born Tuesday 11th at 5:50pm, 8lbs 7oz, doing really well!

Will read and post more as soon as poss, lots of love and hugs and best wishes and hopefully congratulations to everyone!

MarchNowFebMum · 13/03/2008 18:18

good luck for the inductions today and for march mama. mmh, fight induction tonight if that's what you want. i found a little bit of pushback worked in my case. they are used to just having to manage the masses but may respond if presented with a firm but logical argument.

piggyp - did you also get the contraception talk from the health visitor? although i feel good, dh and i nearly laughed her out of the house!!

merryberry · 13/03/2008 18:23

C4it sorry. Um the next thing we all talked thru was risk of bad conveyor belt care in labour versus would coacvlcmad get there fast. We called one to help resus george but it was not needed midwife did fine. He was stuck for 5 mins and 5 moves then came out when she pushed shoulder back in and round pelvic bone as i had huge contract push. Kept his heartbeat fine on cord. Breathed after 1 min of puff from her. Less intervention than many yard births. Now just stuck here with really mild jaundice.

merryberry · 13/03/2008 18:26

Ambulance that weird word should read. Great news ibble thrilled for you. Good luck ladies and on you come heh?

MissingMyHeels · 13/03/2008 18:28

Congratulations ibble - another gorgeous name, us Marchers seem to have great taste!

Well I'm going to go in this evening and discuss it with them, they can't make me stay so if I don't feel they are doing the right thing I will just come home. Hoping we'll be able to come to some agreement, thanks for all the advice girls, feeling a lot more confident than I did earlier! Will try and keep you all posted

turtle23 · 13/03/2008 18:32

ibble-Congrats! How lovely!
MMH-be strong..it isn't easy but you have to do it!

OP posts:
c4it · 13/03/2008 19:22

Merry Thanks for that - sounds like you both did brilliantly. My DD was only stuck for a minute or so and first move (McRoberts) solved that.

I am arguing that quality of care, my mental state, etc will be much better at home therefore I will labour more effectively. I'm about 10 mins blue lights from hospital but am convinced less likely to have shoulder dystocia if labour at home. Am sticking to my guns for now - my birth my way .

Congratulations again you did SOOOOO well.

CricketsMum · 13/03/2008 20:50

Turtle - how exciting... any more progress... careful or you will be landed with buying more cake . Have spent the entire afternoon cleaning - would appear that I have finally decided to nest!

thefortbuilder · 13/03/2008 21:29

ibble congratulations and what a lovely name!

Anyone who's up...keep fingers crossed for me. Woke up to find gas smell in bathroom. Transco on their way...but if there's a problem and I go into labour before it's fixed that's no waterbirth and most likely no homebirth for me. Why me? Why now? Gulp.

OP posts:
aprilfoolsbaby · 14/03/2008 06:35

Fingers and toes crossed for you turtle.

Congrats Jaysthird - another big baby - what have you guys been eating?

I think I'll be the last one to pop - not due until 30th March but it's lovely hearing everyone's stories. x

turtle23 · 14/03/2008 07:49

OH F**K. We have a gas leak and it's "somewhere in the outlet pipe." Can't imagine for a minute that it will be done before baby and looks like no home birth. I can't cope. Don't know what to do. DH is furious with me for having gas shut off for what he seems to think is not a serious problem.
