Lulumama · 02/04/2008 21:46

wow ! well done holidaysqueen

that sounds like a labour and a half!

so glad you are ok, sounds like it was quite scary, but so great that you can look back and feel positive and remember the aneasthatist's handbag ! fabulous xx

studentmum1 · 02/04/2008 22:55

omg hq! that sounds like one hell of labour!
well done and congrats!

i'm still with my bump... she's over a week late now... they have me booked in for induction next week and i'm dreading it... trying everything to get her out before then! only thing i haven't tried is sex, for those of you who remember my dp had a circumsision in febury and he's been out of action since! any other sugestions other than rasp leaf tea, pineapple and plenty of walking?!

iliketosleep · 03/04/2008 00:06

bloody hell HQ you went through the mill abit!! hats off to you lady! congratulations

I know what you mean about things sticking in your mind during labour, i can still remember the midwife who delivered dd1 was wearing pink nail polish and the nail on her middle finger was all chipped, i wanted to scream at her to go and repaint it as it looked a mess

obviously she was wearing gloves but i had already seen it and it made me really mad lol

imjin100 · 03/04/2008 09:45

HQ - what a story...congratulations on surviving! I have to say mine was not dissimilar - I have chosen not to add it to mumsnet cos there were so many still waiting but i'll just let you know it quickly becomes a distant memory. I have already forgotten much of the drama and when I look at our baby it all becomes a dream! Worse I think for our DH's but they too seem to let the passage of time heal the mental scars! Big welcome to your darling baby boy - enjoy every moment.

Iliketosleep - great news - so thrilled for you. How exciting.

Prisci · 03/04/2008 13:59

HQ, congratulation indeed and hat's off for not asking for a C section. Also, please that you sound so so happy!!

MarchNowFebMum · 03/04/2008 18:22

student mum - nipple stimulation is another thing that's suggested...

aprilfoolsbaby · 04/04/2008 06:14

Hello everyone. I'm in labour yippeeee!!!

Saw a reflexologist last night at 6pm - woke up at 1am this morning and have been having regular contractions since. Have taken paracetamol and phoned the labour ward. They are happy for me to stay at home until I need more pain relief!

Boy contractions hurt way more than I ever thought (don't actually know what I expected!)

Hopefully next time I post I'll have a lovely baby in my arms x

Really recommend reflexology for those of you who are still left. I hadn't had a twinge prior to this and then a couple of hours later this!

HolidaysQueen · 04/04/2008 07:29

My water have broken! 4 hours ago, but no contractions yet, however this is progress finally!! Going to hospital in an hour or so to get checked up as it is only 5:10am here.

MissingMyHeels · 06/04/2008 10:03

littleducks · 06/04/2008 12:55

aprilfoolsbaby · 07/04/2008 02:14

Just a quick post - baby Matilda was born at 6.30 pm on Friday 4th April weighing 7 lb exactly.

She is so beautiful and I can't stop looking at her!

merryberry · 07/04/2008 08:02

lovely to hear afb! congratulations xxxxxxx

studentmum1 · 07/04/2008 10:49

hiya guys, i'm sat here with baby darcie fast asleep on my chest... she's beautiful and weighed a healthy 7lb 14oz and half. the labour was 3 hours from start to finish... the first contraction floored me and there was no build up, we only just made it to the hospital before i started pushing! she was out in 3 pushes... a big contrast compared to my dd1 who took 16 hours to appear! no complications or stitches... realy happy and i can't stop staring at her! x

spugs · 07/04/2008 11:18

waiting on prisci.....

Prisci · 15/04/2008 17:28

Hi everyone.

And sorry for not posting any sooner.

Theo, Yves, James was born on the 6th of April at 9:27pm weighing 7lb6. We are both doing very well.

Now for the story:

At 1:30am the water broke, we went to hospital at 5:30am, saw the obstetrician and decided to wait until 9:30am to see what to do next as they were pushing for inducing me since my contractions had not started and I was 10 days overdue. They also did not want to check my cervix so as not to insert any infections. At 9:00am the midwife came to see us, to get me ready for the induction. I had to explain to her that it was not decided earlier and that we still did not want to be induced, wanting to wait longer. At that point we were explained that if we went over 18 hours before delivering the baby from the water breaking, they will have to give him some antibiotics etc... As I was being monitored, I could feel some tightening but nothing more than that...grrrrr....
So, since at 5:00pm, there was still no sign of regular contractions, we asked to be induced, our Obs was informed since he had gone home. I was put on an IV drip with petocin and then everything started very very quickly, the contractions were very painful and when I was almost going to go for an epidural, I felt that the baby was near the exit! I apparently, shouted the baby is here and my partner and the midwife did not really beleive me since it had taken so long to get me started in the first place, however when she checked me I was fully dilated and at +1. She got quite a shock since it was only 4 hours after starting the induction, she then called the Obs to come immediately. At that point I was on all four, using the head of the bed as support, she then asked me to go on my back (it was clearly written on my birthplan that I wanted to be squatting). My partner had to challenge her, apparently this was what the Obs will ask me to do when he arrives, we had discussed it with him and he was fine with the squatting and there was no way on earth that I would have turned around...no way....Anyhow the Obs arrived just as the baby was going to come, which was perfect as he just gave me the directions in time ( he was great, and did not ask me to go on my back). The baby had one of his hand on his chest which means that I had two small tears and he came out so quickly that he had a beautiful little face and apparently as his head came out he was looking up just wondering what was going on, not screaming or showing signs of stress and he has been more or less the same so far. Only crying for feeding, he does not mind dirty nappy or our clumsiness at times of being new parents!.
I only received one shot of Antibiotics since the labout went so fast.

Putting some pictures on profile.
