Babes in Scotland this year - shall we have our own thread?

Hi, I can't see any up to date antenatal threads for mums to be in Scotland, anyone want to join in this one? I think there are a few Scottish mums on the due in June thread, so I wondered if we should have our very own for all of this year's Scottish crop?

Afternoon ladies!

I'm out on Shawlands too Whinegums and I'm a first time mum and we've found out mine's a boy. I have been crap at keeping up with the boards lately..been working my tail off. Ha as if I could, my tail is huge! Anyway so I'm meant to be due on July 12th but something tells me he won't wait that long.

We're booked into the SGH and have only had the experience of being in there for a MC..sadly but it's fine. The midwives were all nice and couldn't complain about anyone.. but the food was horrible. I've had a couple of friends give birth there and all have said it was lovely, but that they just sort of leave you to get on with it and don't really bother you much until you're ready to go so to speak.

Just had the window man in and it's done a world of difference to my day. About to nip out and get some food. How will I afford to feed a baby when I can't afford to feed myself?

hi McChesers and Apprentice - welcome!

TheAprpentice - are you on our due august thread too? nice bunch of girls there too

TheApprentice · 15/03/2008 15:41

Yes I am dizzy but not posted for a while (I seem to go on Mumsnet in fits and starts iykwim depending on what else is going on in my life!)

dizzydixies · 15/03/2008 15:46

lol - have been on feet up since 12wks so mumsnet has pretty much become my life

sweetkitty · 15/03/2008 15:49

hello all the newbies especially mcchesers is a mc and Due in July graduate with me.

On the birth thing, apart from hoping I sneeze and this one pops out am hoping for another homebirth, had one with DD2 and it was fab (close ears first timers now apart from the agonising pain of course) done and dusted in 2h 30 mins from first contraction, DD1 slept through it all and I wasn't quiet, lovely to be in own shower and bed afterwards.

I'm a bit stressed about childcare and hoping DP is here when I go into labour this time, only have a homebirth window of 39-42 weeks as well as thats all the MWs will cover. Right now I'm in agony with SPD/SI pain so an induction at 38 weeks is looking lovely but I know deep down I won't go through with it.

TheApprentice · 15/03/2008 15:49

Poor you, are you suffering?

I felt awful for a long time but am beginning to feel more normal now.

TheApprentice · 15/03/2008 15:51

Homebirth sounds lovely, but I cant have one due to complications with last birth. Cant even have water birth either which was my absolute dream!

dizzydixies · 15/03/2008 15:51

ah sweetkitty, am sorry to hear it and also sorry am not closer to help out - lucky you with the homebirth options, I've been labelled as a problem delivery and no hope of it - may just stay at home and see how I get on though

have you made any name decisions yet?

sweetkitty · 15/03/2008 15:59

Och dizzy thanks, third time I have had it so should be used to it by now.

I feel so lucky to have had a straight forward homebirth last time, keep thinking I can't be that lucky again like I'm tempting fate somehow. Oh well a long way to go yet.

dizzydixies · 15/03/2008 16:01

oh, harsh for 3rd time. I've just been referred to physio for my hip, am hoping its not going to develop further but then I do have ridicliously large babies so no wonder hips protesting

Klaw · 15/03/2008 16:05

at all the Scottish bumps.....

wish we were ttc

dizzydixies · 15/03/2008 16:06

Klaw, you're always welcome as resident expert!!

whinegums · 15/03/2008 16:17

Afternoon, hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Mcchesers, snap! Sorry to hear about your mc. Maybe we'll end up in SGH complaining about the food at the same time if you think you're going to be early, cos I think my boy is going to be late (laid back like his ma I hope!).

Klaw, yes, please stay and be our expert!

Am feeling huge today, and have been crawling around finishing decorating - nearly done thank goodness. Got a pile of baby freebies and stuff in the post this morning - postie must have been about 5 mins trying to force it through the letter box, why he didn't just knock on the door I don't know. Anyway, my stocks are building quite nicely now, and with newly decorated flat, feeling slightly pleased with myself!

mcchesers · 15/03/2008 16:50

Hey Sweetkitty! Yeah you said about the SPD would be rough. I'm just battling energy levels coming in and out like bad reception on tv..oh and some rockin heartburn.

Ok Whinegums if you see my name on the ward list come say hi. What about freebies? How do I play? Girls, I have nothing but two massive bags of hand me down toys from a girl on freecycle and a wee coming home outfit. It's a white gown with light blue kitty cat spots and a tail in the back. The sleeves have little cuffs on them that tuck back like scratch mittens and are meant to look like paws. The cap has ears and whiskers AWWW!

We ordered a pram from the pram centre but they say it's on order for three weeks. I've changed my mind about stupid prams a million times so just picked one that looked nice and came with all the gear. It'll end up on ebay no doubt.

Klaw · 15/03/2008 16:53

I'm not an expert, just a hellava lot older and wiser!!

And glad to be able to support others

dizzydixies · 15/03/2008 16:54

lol mcchesers, we were out walking today and was trying to drop subtle hints to dh about a new pram, we've had ours for nearly 5yrs now - apparently I've no chance lol

dizzydixies · 15/03/2008 16:54

ah Klaw - you're just being modest

rozzyraspberry · 15/03/2008 16:56
