Babes in Scotland this year - shall we have our own thread?

whinegums · 10/03/2008 12:18

Hi, I can't see any up to date antenatal threads for mums to be in Scotland, anyone want to join in this one? I think there are a few Scottish mums on the due in June thread, so I wondered if we should have our very own for all of this year's Scottish crop?

OP posts:

minkersmum · 22/08/2008 15:30

I had mine in ayrshire. One in irvine because thats where the mat unit was at the time, then by the time i had 2nd one it'd moved to crosshouse in kilmarnock. Both same staff etc tho. Had lovely experience both times, two water births and home a few hours later so didn't go to post natal ward , just straight home from labour suite.

Having 3rd baby in next few weeks. Having homebirth this time tho and now live in the highlands. Hopefully be as good an experiene if not better than my last 2. Only thing is this time i know the majority of midwives who may attend me in labour and there is only one that i consider 'friendly'!!

As long as my baby comes easily thats all i'll worry about.

Oh btw i was born in the rah myself!! So it produces a good quality person!!!! lol

Lib76 · 22/08/2008 17:21

that's great you had good experience. good for you having home birth! don't think i could manage without diamorphine!! ggod luck with the new arrival!

your right, all the best babies are RAH born!!! ;-)

dizzydixies · 22/08/2008 22:00

lib76 if it helps I know all the theatres etc at the RAH have all just been deep cleaned as neighbour of my SIL had her section put back as they were doing it - at least you now know its clean

Lib76 · 23/08/2008 07:43

hey dizzydixies!

yeh the RAH is very clean indeed! i had by DS by emergency section in june. The labour suite had just been moved and was great as were the wards.

Just was curious to hear other mums stories about the place.

i couldn't recommend the place highly enough! ;-)

dizzydixies · 23/08/2008 21:18

my SIL had my nephew there and my brother was born there 35yrs ago too but I'm up north so only have knowledge of it from when my mum has been in and she's never been in the matty ward, well not since having my brother

glad you got on ok

minipinkscottish · 25/08/2008 10:36

broodymom · 26/08/2008 11:38

Hi, just found out i'm expecting #3 i live in argyll i just got my booking appointment through for this mon says i will be there for 1hr and half i cant remember booking appointments 2dds aged 7 (nearly 8) and 8 (nearly 9) i think mw came to my house the last time. what do they do/ask ? is it history and things? I cant remember what happens etc.. any new info on what to expect would be great !!!Sooo nervous about being pg again but really happy too !!!
Thanks xxxxx

minipinkscottish · 26/08/2008 13:19

Oh many congratulations broodymom - fantastic news!!

You know I just had Abbie 10 weeks ago but I am one of those women who feel broody all the time........but I am having no more...6 is quite enough

Yes we have our booking appointments at home in Fife now but it used to be hospital. It is just a lot of form filling...medical history...pregnancy history....etc. However, if you are at hospital for booking then they may do bloods...just general screening and typing...nothing to worry about but they may not do that till 12 week scan.
It must be very exciting having another baby after such a big gap.....lovely!! The biggest gap I have had is 5 years and that was nice xx And as you have girls already they will love it....

Oh I'm very excited for you!!! Take care and welcome to the thread xx

sparkletoes · 05/09/2008 16:22

Glad to hear good comments about RAH - having DC2 there in November purely as it is so much closer to our new house than the QM (where I had DS).

Minipink did I read that right 6 kids!! WOW respect is due girl!! Hope Abbie still doing good.

Ach its raining will need to bring washing in aaargh....

minipinkscottish · 09/09/2008 14:47

Hi all xx

Hope everyone is doing fine. Any new babies? xx

frazzledoldbag34 · 17/09/2008 11:43

Hi - can I join in please? [smiles and waves]

I live in the East of Scotland and have 2 DD's. Am pg (just) with DC3 - will find out tomorrow at an early dating scan how many wks I am but likely to be due end of April or beginning May 09.
Have asked this before on another thread but anyone have any experience (good or otherwise) of CVS testing in Ninewells?

conkertree · 18/09/2008 16:45

have read just down a few posts and wondered frazzle if we should maybe start a thread for scottish babies due in 2009?

as far as i can see by the list - everyone on so far is due up to december? or should i read further and its blending into next year too?

congratulations on all your babies by the way.

Klaw · 24/09/2008 22:59

frazzledoldbag34 I don't know about CVS but I've had amnio at Ninewells.

Are you not sure of your dates then? I suspect that the scan, which brought forward my dates by 9 days, was the reason my bloods came back with such a high risk (1:13), I wonder if bloods taken according to my dates would have given a lesser risk....? Anyway, I found the wait for results very stressful but got the intial results in less time than they anticipated and then the remainder came back in a few weeks and my baby was fine. The medical staff were all great around that time, I have no complaints.

dizzywitches · 03/10/2008 22:04

frazzle I had all 3 of mine at Ninewells but not CVS sorry

babybear77 · 05/10/2008 18:09

oooh, can i join. weegie living in dundee. due 1st baby dec 8th. going to ninewells. what was your experience dizzywitches? I've heard post-natally its crap....i should know really as I was a medic there!

dizzywitches · 05/10/2008 22:05

babybear77 I've had all 3 of mine there, none of which straighforward and I couldn't have had better care

welcome to the thread - am also a defected weegie

babybear77 · 07/10/2008 19:55

dizzywtches - how was the post-natal side of things? where in weegie land r u from...i'm now in BF....

dizzywitches · 14/10/2008 21:44

am across the water we have a local thread going too if you wish to join I'll post a link

postnatally they were fantastic with me

after dd1 I was like roadkill and they kept me in for a week and gave me loads of help
after dd2 again road kill and reversed over by truck for good measure and in for a week until I was ready to go
dd3 was elective section (funnily enough) I only stayed in for 2 days which was MY choice and they couldn't have been lovelier to me

dizzywitches · 14/10/2008 21:46

babybear77 here's the local thread if you get a chance to come and say hi

dundee thread

Has anybody had experience of SRI - or have any tips?

Ta!
