Babes in Scotland this year - shall we have our own thread?

whinegums · 10/03/2008 12:18

Hi, I can't see any up to date antenatal threads for mums to be in Scotland, anyone want to join in this one? I think there are a few Scottish mums on the due in June thread, so I wondered if we should have our very own for all of this year's Scottish crop?

Hi everyone, hope you're all having a good day. I had a crap night, toothache in a wisdom tooth I should have had removed years ago (but too much of a wuss to get it done) and when that wasn't giving me grief I was getting a good kicking from junior.

Anyway, have been out and bought a few baby things from Gap - if you've got an Amex card, it's 30% off at the moment. Got a couple of things for me too of course. I think their baby stuff is expensive, but I couldn't resist some organic cotton socks and hats which are sooo cute!

Aberdeenhiker, did you get your oatcakes? I had to go to the bakers for scones this morning, and now I think I am going to have to have some chocolate.

Modj&p, how was the scan?

Hi minipink - wow to being on your sixth ... and what were you doing in Aberdeen?

minipinkscottish · 12/03/2008 19:48

I was in Aberdeem as my first husband joined the police force up there. I liked the city - it was great! But I missed my family here and so we moved back. I am a teacher and did a bit of supply work but not a lot. Still like to visit Aberdeen though

baiyu · 12/03/2008 20:35

Ooh, this one has moved fast! I'm near Fort William but have to go to Inverness to give birth as it's my first (local policy and a 2.5 hour drive, not too impressed!) I'm due the 7th of May and the time apprears to be speeding by!

josey · 12/03/2008 22:53

Sorry its Broadford hospital isnt it duh!

baiyu · 13/03/2008 11:37

Hi josey, I think in recent years the Belford in FW had been relaxing their policy but a few months ago they had to rush a girl to Inverness for an emergency caesarean (which they can't do) and she lost her baby
I guess they don't want to take any risks so better safe than sorry. I don't know when they'll want me in yet but yes, a wee while before I expect. How did you find the care at Raigmore? Anything you wish you'd known before?!

hey bobsmum nice to see another May mum on here (although I see you're now April, that's next month!! wow.)

Have a great day girls

josey · 13/03/2008 13:23

Baiyu care at Raigmore is pretty good pre and post labour wards the mws are really kind. Labour ward itself is fine but dont expect a mw with you at all times they seem to pop in and out to feed there face with tea and bic's. I cant really think of anything I would have liked to have known or anything I wish I had been told to have taken. If you can think of anything to ask feel free I will try and answer.

northeastmummy · 13/03/2008 18:39

It's been very quiet on here today.

Not long till our first due date already - hope you're doing ok monthlymayhem. What's your news??

monthlymayhem · 13/03/2008 23:23

Hi Northeast, all good here thanks. Baby is being very cooperative so far and holding on until we finish ripping out our bathroom (what a great time to decide to replace your bathroom ) .

I had a little bit of a show on Sunday but nothing since, and no aches or pains so I'm betting on baby being late! The midwife this week did say it's as engaged as can be before going into labour so it's just a case of waiting!

Hope everyone is coping with various pregnancy aches and pains. I've got to say I've been really lucky throughout mine and even managed to avoid any nausea, so am hoping the birth will also go smoothly. Planning on having a water birth, although there is only one pool room at the RAH so it really depends on whether it's free at the time.

Anyway, bed time for me!

northeastmummy · 14/03/2008 07:48

Oh good luck for everything and don't forget to keep us posted . Loving your timing with the bathroom!

aberdeenhiker · 14/03/2008 08:08

maybe the timing will encourage you to go into labour If I go overdue maybe I'll suggest to DH that he replaces our bathroom sink (the only thing that really needs changing).

aberdeenhiker · 14/03/2008 08:09

(obviously that was directed to monthlymayhem - it's still early)

mumofdjandpandbump · 14/03/2008 09:53

morning ladies it is sunny here !!!
My windows are filthy
