KnitterInTheNW · 28/02/2008 16:20

Thanks! The cleaning just about finished me off, so no coffee and bread smells for the lady! Just a clean house. Which I'm enjoying too.

Scampmum · 28/02/2008 16:32

you could get some ready cake mix, sure that would do the trick? Good luck with the viewing!

Scorpio chin up, all these lovely ladies are right and chances are it was for a mate. Am boring the pants of DH at the moment banging on about how ugly and fat I am and how old I look, which I'm sure makes me even more irresistible . I think your DH sounds lovely - I hate paranoia! My DH has lied to me once in our relationship and I STILL bring it up - poor him as my insecurity stems from a prior relationship!

Peaches YIKES - that sounds quite proper. Are you OK now?

I am in such a filthy mood today. Really pissed off with everyone and everything and can't make myself do even the smallest task (e.g. have a shower!). Going to pick up DD soon who will no doubt cheer me up. DH working late tonight (he has a 7.30pm meeting!!) so just feel lonely and grumpy and useless and lazy and grrr.

EllieG · 28/02/2008 16:33

Good luck knitter x

DP didn't get the job He is so gutted, I feel rotten for him. He has so little self-confidence when it comes to this kind of thing and this will really knock him. Oh I feel

scorpio1 · 28/02/2008 16:34

Ellie. could you get him a treat on the way home? I'm sure its not because of him personally iyswim?

scorpio1 · 28/02/2008 16:36

Scampmum - i just either want to sleep or kill.

Going out for dinner just to supermarket or something as i cannot be arsed.

We need a new thread soon - Due April 2008 - we are moody bitches

Scampmum · 28/02/2008 16:39

Sleep or kill! sums it up perfectly. Thank you for making me smile for the first time today!!

Ellie poor DP. Could be anything, maybe they hired someone they knew already, did he get any feedback? At least he has a gorgeous fiancee and nearly two lovely daughters! (Elliebean is a girl, right?).

sagitta · 28/02/2008 16:42

So sorry for DP Ellie...
and sorry about mood, scampmum. I know how you feel...

I've got to be up at 5.30am tomorrow to get to a work meeting, so by tomorrow night I shall be ready to kill too! Then i've got to go to Rome for a conference on Monday. So scared of being really tired and stoopid and not very professional! So I hope you all have nice weekend/ a good next week.

Scampmum · 28/02/2008 16:44

You're more professional than I am - haven't been to work for nearly four weeks!! So think of me and project the paragon of late-pregnancy virtue that you are.

scorpio1 · 28/02/2008 16:45

I havent been to uni since the week before my wedding. and i dont care.

sagitta · 28/02/2008 16:48

But scampmum - you can't walk! I still can (well, waddle, anyway!)

EllieG · 28/02/2008 16:49

They said he did really well at interview but they just had someone more experienced. Plus they said he had done well to even get shortlisted as there were over 100 applicants.

Scampmum · 28/02/2008 16:52

That's great, then. No need to take it personally. Just emphasise how pleased you will be to spend the extra time with him (/until he gets another job) and give him lots of love.

Thanks Sagitta, you're right. I can shuffle a bit. My brother apparently has a lunchtime meeting with Gael Garcia Bernal (sex GOD from Motorcycle Diaries) at some point in the next month and I'm thinking I might be able to muster up enough mobility to gatecrash that (in an annoying 'oh! fancy seeing you here!' kind of way that only a doted-upon younger brother could forgive). Priorities, n'all.

Scampmum · 28/02/2008 16:54

(because I'm sure Gael would find me devastatingly attractive as, like a dignified giant tortoise, I pigeon-stepped my way across the restaurant to dine alone)

EllieG · 28/02/2008 16:57

LOL scamp! Some men have a thing for PG ladies, you might get lucky

TLSM · 28/02/2008 16:59

ellie poor chap do something lovely for him My sister said thank you very much for your help this morning you lovely lady!

right off hime have a lovely weekend all Peachy and Rainbow i expect to see you both here on Monday!!!

EllieG · 28/02/2008 17:01

No worries tlsm - glad to be of help. Have a nice evening

Sal22 · 28/02/2008 18:09

Ellie, sorry to hear, but at least they gave him terrific feedback, so once over the initial disappointment he might see it as the compliment I'm sure they tried to get across. Job interviews suck anyway, hate having to go through them! Good luck and glad that at least you won't see him less just yet.

I've been annoyed with just about everyone at work today - I'm sure they'll pay me to leave earlier because of the Health & Safety risk I'm currently posing for everyone else (here's hoping)

Meeting DH for someone at his workplace's leaving drinks tonight. Virgin cocktails it'll be, and I'll try my best to stay awake and not to embarrass him too much. Can't promise though.

Good night all, S.

Sal22 · 28/02/2008 18:10

Oh yes, and good luck with viewing, Knitter

elfsmummy · 28/02/2008 19:42

Good Evening all.

Back on-line finally after moving house (blinking BT!)

Move went remarkably smoothly. DH out tonight and I thought I'd catch up on mumsnet, however there's been 50 pages since I've last been here - no chance!!

So a summary of any major news/events would be good! Hopefully no babies yet? Still you never know!

Can't believe I'm nearly 35 weeks already. Would be quite happy for this one to stay put until at least term, want to enjoy new house for a while first! And make curtains!

Peachy · 28/02/2008 21:03

Don't forget I'm 36 weeks this weekend, so not a bif problem if baby does come- after 37 weeks I can have him at home after all.

Glad that fishy got a deletion- MN seem to be a bit better on that than they use3d to be. Why on earth would someone want to troll on an antenatal thread FGS?

Ellie does sound like he did well- the right one will come along soon

Elfs- Glad move was OK.

Everyone else OK?

Mollyfloss · 28/02/2008 22:11

Just been gone since this morning and there's so much to catch up on!

Denny, Peachy, Knitter & Rainbow: With everything that's been going on with you it's a real wake up call that the birth of our babies could be any day now! Not that that means that any of you ladies will give birth first, it could be any one of us, don't need to have had a warning. In fact for all we know there could be someone who hasn't posted in the last day or two is actually giving birth...
Hope everyone who's been getting contractions etc. is managing to remain calm.

I had a pretty tiring day today with meetings. I'm glad I'm here for just one night. Then that's my last trip abroad until the baby comes - hurray! I'm not so tired or in general, in fact I feel quite good, just glad to have the excuse not to travel.

PortAndLemon · 28/02/2008 22:49

Well, DH has left for his Everest base camp trek now... . He should be back with a couple of weeks to spare, in principle...

chipmonkey · 28/02/2008 23:17

Suze, the cookery course was here They do 1, 2 and 3 day courses as weil as diploma courses. I did one in Ballymaloe years ago and loved it but didn't want to go back after the paedophile scandal. Tainted it for me.

EllieG · 29/02/2008 08:51

I am going out tonight to a leaving do and I tried on a dress that I thought would fit as is a maxi dress - it did fit, from from, fine, quite nicely preggers. Turned to side - wham! Confronted by the biggest arse in the world, bearing striking resemblance to a cauliflower. Thin fabrics are No Good at the moment. Sigh.

How did the viewing go knitter?

DP is much more cheery this morning. He found out that the guy who got job (for customs officer job) is a serving police officer who trained police and customs in survailence, so no shame in losing out to him then, and all is peace and calm in the EllieG household again. Lots of cuddles and inspiring words.

PAL - very impressed at your DH climbing Everest. And will be even more impressed if he makes it back before you pop!

PortAndLemon · 29/02/2008 09:04

He's not climbing to the top (I am an indulgent DW, but not that indulgent ) -- only going as far as Everest base camp and then climbing Kala Pattar (a nice safe, smaller mountain that gives you a nice view of Everest from the top).
