oh and a possibly TMI question...

seems i have/had thrush again. used a pessary last night because i just used cream before and it took days to go away, its the first time i have ever used one.

Will it have gone now? Shall i continue cream for a few days? Can i have sex today? DH has no symptoms.

Thanks

Peachy · 26/02/2008 10:14

Last batch of baby things arrived today- soa s soon as DH pops up the crib we are completely ready YAY! This was things-we-liked-but-didn't-need delivery: a batrh support (suction caps gone on old one and they did amke life easier last time), opne of those fancy towels from dragons Den, a swaddle blanker (sister finds hers invaluable) and a bright pink nursing bra LOL

More problems at school- they have been confiscating ds3's communication board again as it is 'fiddly to carry'. It's an A5 ring file with a shoulder strap, there's 2 plastic pages with velcro strips onto which we place symbols. he picks the symbol for what he needs to communicate, hands it across and then you say (for example) banana- good boy!' and either 'here's your banana' or 'we can't have a banana because of X'. It's not hard, and it's the only way he can talk to them. I can't see the difference between them taking it and if they sellotaped over a NT childs mouth, except that would be considered abusive and they can get away with this .

EllieG · 26/02/2008 10:14

Sounds good scorpio - is nice you and your DH can talk things through and he listens to you. More cuddles always good.

Yes - he was a former minister. He got sacked cos he bandied around confidential info about a child (for his own political posturing) and did not follow proceedures and generally his behaviour placed more children at risk. There was a vote of no condifence in him, but he continues to shout about how he is the voice of oppressed etc. He's only the voice of himself as far as I can see. Bah.

scorpio1 · 26/02/2008 10:16

Peachy thats terrible!! Are you going to see them about it??

ds2 had a comm board but doesnt need it any more, people were very good about it. poor your ds3.

EllieG · 26/02/2008 10:18

That's awful peachy

Complain really hard, like you say, they may as well be putting a gag on him, poor little mite.

eva07 · 26/02/2008 10:21

my english is reeeaaally bad. elli, I can't even tell you what I think about this. just that I'm sure you all are dedicated and nothing's just black and white. and that it's usually the social workers who 'must have known and done something' about it. although usually there are neighbours or other family members (not in this case, I know).
and on the other side the government keeps reducing funds for social stuff (at least in austria, but I guess it's not so different here)

big hug (((elli)))

Peachy · 26/02/2008 10:25

Will be kicking up, but its his statement review next week and am saving it for then in case it doesn't go our way (although school and I both after same thng- him out of there- depends on funding though as ever).

eva07 · 26/02/2008 10:29

happy birthday TA! enjoy your day off - and yes, I'd like a piece of your cake...

that's peachy! are they allowed to do such a thing?? if it's his way of comunicating?? whoever did this deserves a smack on the head so (s)he starts thinking again...

eva07 · 26/02/2008 10:32

scorpio, you should deffo keep on using the cream for at least a week. and sorry, but I would recommend no sex for a few days. or use condoms

EllieG · 26/02/2008 10:59

I think your English is very good eva! And thanks

It was me wot had thrush this week though not scorpio. And DP is denied nookie until has cleared up, poor man. Not that I'm exactly rampant at the moment mind....

scorpio1 · 26/02/2008 11:00

oh Ellie i have it too again!! Was wondering cos i used pessary last night will it have gone now and can i have sex please? [needy emoticon]

EllieG · 26/02/2008 11:01

Ooo I missed that it was TA's birthday!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear toast addict, happy birthday tooooo yooooooooooo!

Cake time. Anyone want a cuppa to go with that?

EllieG · 26/02/2008 11:02

Nope. You'll have to wait a few days. If I have to you do too - you'll just reinfect each other if you get it on too quickly.

This just teaches me for not reading thread back through properly, am missing vital info.

scorpio1 · 26/02/2008 11:04

@ no sex. why do you always want it more when you can't?!?

EllieG · 26/02/2008 11:06

Tis sod's law. DP woke up this morning and said hopefully 'I had a really raunchy dream about you last night' - did you says I, you might want to go and have a cold shower cos I've got thrush.

scorpio1 · 26/02/2008 11:07

lol @ the romance!! have to go out now.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 26/02/2008 11:14

Gosh Ellie - I really admire you for doing the job you do - I could never do it - I think I would get too emotionally involved and that would be no good for anyone. I have been reading about the case in Jersey and I do feel soooo sorry for all those poor little children - really awful and so sad.

Happy Birthday TA!!

And Eva - your English is excellent!

EllieG · 26/02/2008 11:20

Thanks Mum2b - the situation in care homes is very different now though. Is horridly sad for those that were there though.

Peachy · 26/02/2008 11:22

Scorpio- remember that your Dh can have it without showing any symptoms, he really should be treated too.

VictorianSqualor · 26/02/2008 11:29

Morning Ladies.
I haven't read anything about what's going on in Jersey, so I don't know what you're talking about. I do know that when I was in SS care the social workers were great, apart from having their hands tied behind their backs they were really lovely people.
Of course there were some arseholes, mainly in the homes though rather than actual social workers they were 'care' workers, my foster sisters went through a lot of shit but that was years ago now.

There was a thread on here yesterday, a follow-up from the weekend, about a prem baby sadly it wasn't true (why would anyone make that up???) but it got me thinking about DD. She was nearly 2 weeks old by this point in her pregnancy!!!I've uploaded a pic of when she was born so you can see how small she was (was at 32 weeks) but the pic of me holding her was when she was 2weeks old, so as far gone as I am now!!! Hard to beleive that a baby is in all of us.

Had contractions AGAIN last ngiht, and back ache for ages, I just know that I'm gong to eb getting symptoms of labour for like months thoguh and end up going over my due date

VictorianSqualor · 26/02/2008 11:33

Oh and Happy Birthday TA!

lorisparkle · 26/02/2008 11:46

Happy birthday TA!

I can not believe that school are doing that Peachy. I am a very strong supporting in communication books and always push for them to be used everywhere (not just in the classroom but in the playground, assembly, etc etc) I've had collegues think I am bad but I totally agree that it is like putting selloptape over the child's mouth if you remove their communication method. It sounds like an never ending battle for you so hope you can get a good resolution for this one.

Hope everyone is feeling OK. I've got a day to myself to get a little more organised for the new baby so really should not be typing on here!!!!

Denny185 · 26/02/2008 13:07

Happy birthday TA.

Scorpio at you still wanting sex, such a bloody effort just turning over in bed at the mo cant even be bothered thinking about sex!! Unfortunately think you have to wait a while for the pessary to work - does it say on the pack?

Peachy, thats shocking, i hope you manage to get him in the right school soon.

Ellie, the press never relay the full story, I think the most people can read between the lines its just the few numpties of the world who take everything as read. OK may be more than a few thinking about it, but the main thing is that you know you do a vital job and theres not many who be able to do it.

VS - how heavy was your DD when she was born? I know 4 people in RL whov'e had babies at 30/40 - scary stuff

VictorianSqualor · 26/02/2008 13:11

She was born at 32weeks and weighed 5lb 1.5 oz, so farking HUGE for her gestation, they expected her to be a pound or two
