FarmBaby3 · 01/01/2023 20:09

We got our positive today. Looks like my due date would be 8th September going off period date but 14th September going off ovulation.

Anyone else get BFP for September baby?

@froglou how many weeks are you? Symptoms tend to disappear the higher the number of weeks.

@Laul89 I think at 6 + 6 you should be okay. I'm sure there are quite a few people who have had scans at 5 weeks and been able to see.

@FarmBaby3 9 weeks, I've phoned 111 and they've arranged for a GP to call me back. I've already missed the first call from them as I left phone on the sofa while I went to get DD dressed 🤦🏻‍♀️ waiting for another call now and I'll actually answer it this time!

@Laul89 last pregnancy I had a scan at about 6 weeks (to check it wasn't ectopic nothing more technical than that) and they can detect a "heart beat" and check the sac ect at that stage

FarmBaby3 · 28/01/2023 10:03

Hopefully it's just the placenta taking over. I think they say 10-12 weeks for that so you are close to that window.

Jane1284 · 28/01/2023 10:10

@Laul89 I think they say to wait until 7 weeks as it gives enough leeway to see something as I think most hearts start flickering around week 6.
How much does your place charge? I booked mine through my fertility clinic but had to pay since it was a natural pregnancy. Was £200 as it’s with a doctor 😵 if it’s inconclusive I’ll have to find somewhere cheaper to go back to.

@froglou its completely normal for symptoms to increase and then stop for a few days and then come back. It’s your body adjusting to the hormone levels. Hopefully most symptoms will start tapering off after 12 weeks or so xx

Laul89 · 28/01/2023 10:56

@froglou hope everything is ok.. let us know what the doctor says 🥰

@FarmBaby3 @froglou @Jane1284 thank you. I think I’m going to go for it just for reassurance more than anything.
The early scan I’m looking at is £65. Wow £200!! I think the highest I’ve seen when I’ve been looking is £90. Suppose it just depends on the clinic & the area doesn’t it x

Jane1284 · 28/01/2023 11:10

@Laul89 yeah I think it’s a lot because it’s an actual fertility clinic rather than just a scan clinic. So the scan is done by a doctor with nurses assisting which is prob why it’s so much. Prob should have just booked with a scan place but it’s done now. I’ve already spent £7k on fertility treatment so what’s another £200 😝
good luck for your scan xx

HattieRosa · 28/01/2023 11:55

I got my 12 week scan through the other day- 23rd Feb - so still a while to wait! Ive got blood tests today and then an over-the-phone booking in appointment on Wednesday afternoon.
Wish the scan was sooner but oh well! 😕 I'm lucky that I've already seen the early ones!

froglou · 28/01/2023 16:34

Just to touch base, it's not ectopic because of my hormone levels but could be a miscarriage so I need a scan Monday.

Workinprogress90 · 28/01/2023 16:35

For everyone contemplating early scans we had ours at 6+4 (I thought I was 6 dead on but they measured me ahead) and they could hear and see a heartbeat. I think they just don’t want you to worry if you don’t see a heartbeat because the dates are so variable at that point as I found out with my dates being out, and it’s between 6-7 weeks that a heartbeat starts to develop.

@Jane1284 ouch - we had the same thing and it was a similar price but we didn’t have to pay because it was part of the fertility treatment. I’ve looked at other ones to do after our 8 week scan next week (also included within the fertility treatment) and they’re all waaaay cheaper so as soon as we don’t have more included we will be going elsewhere for any additional ones!

got my 12 week scan date through @Laul89 - it was done separately thank you :) it’s not until 6th march and current timeline I’ll be bang on 13 weeks but I guess dates could change again next week!

we’re telling my mum and my husbands parents next weekend after the 8 week scan, veryyyy excited and also feels so surreal!

hope everyone’s doing ok and everyone’s early scans go well! 💫

Laul89 · 28/01/2023 18:22

Thanks for the info about the scans everyone! Contemplating either booking it for next Sunday or waiting another 2 weeks for a chance to see something more! Can you tell I’m very indecisive 🫠🙈

@froglou oh no.. hope you’re ok, sending lots of positive thoughts!

@Workinprogress90 how exciting! I really hope the midwife rings me next week to sort out my first appointment! 🤞🏼

Laul89 · 28/01/2023 18:28

@Jane1284 ah yes.. in the grand scheme of things another £200 is nothing 🤪 can’t wait to hear how it goes for you! 🥰

Loword · 28/01/2023 18:58

@Workinprogress90 did you have abdominal scan?
I had abdominal scan Monday and he measured me 6+3 and could see heartbeat. Hoping by the fact it was abdominal it was a strong heartbeat, fingers crossed! I now want to book another, will be poor soon 😂

Workinprogress90 · 28/01/2023 19:05

@Loword ooh amazing! No mine was internal, haven’t graduated to abdominal yet! Will love it when I do! Had so many internals through all the fertility testing and treatment it will seem like a strange milestone getting to abdominal!

Loword · 28/01/2023 19:08

@Workinprogress90 i just had a bit of a panic the other day and paid for a private one, and when I got there I expected internal and he said, okay we’ll try abdominal first(I hadn’t actually drunk much all day)
aw yeah I bet!

BipolarSunset · 28/01/2023 19:40

I had my early scan on Monday was 100% expecting internal but nope. Baby showed on abdominal. Roughly 6 weeks (no exact week/day given) but strong heartbeat fluttering away 😊

Workinprogress90 · 28/01/2023 23:51

@BipolarSunset @Loword that’s amazing! Maybe on Wednesday I’ll get an abdominal or maybe it’s just the clinic prefer to do internal for early scans, who knows. I got my 12 week letter today and that said quite clearly it would be abdominal so I have one on the horizon!

definitely feel like my nausea has subsided a bit the last few days, trying not to read too much into it! Or maybe I’m just getting better at eating little and often to keep it at bay! Feels like getting to Wednesday is dragging 😬

BipolarSunset · 28/01/2023 23:58

Fingers crossed for you @Workinprogress90.
I think they can see more with an internal but was definitely put at ease seeing the little flickering!
They also did say they'd do an abdominal first and if not clear then they'd do the internal x

FarmBaby3 · 29/01/2023 07:51

Is anyone else holding off until 12 week scan and not getting an early scan?

OP posts:
Jane1284 · 29/01/2023 09:50

@Workinprogress90 i thought they might do the scan and consider it part of my treatment but I think because my FET didn’t actually start as I tested positive on the day I was meant to start the drugs they are wanting me to pay for it and then they’ll hopefully refund me the full FET cost. We shall see!
Are you going to have more scans after the 8 week one or wait for the 12?

Workinprogress90 · 29/01/2023 12:14

@Jane1284 oh I hope so! Seems a bit harsh if not! I think I will probably have another one - im quite an anxious person so I think 5 weeks between next weeks one and my nhs one (booked for when im 13 weeks exactly) would be a bit too long for me to deal with! Will definitely reduce the amount I get them after the nhs one but just to get me over that line I think I’ll have another!

krissy12 · 29/01/2023 12:25

for everyone debating scans with my ds I had an abdominal at around 6 weeks could see a heartbeat but not much else she had to write sac and an arrow on the picture because I couldn't see anything. I had an internal last week and could see so much my picture has a clear blob so if I had the option again I would pick internal

kizzy97 · 29/01/2023 12:25

@FarmBaby3 I'm holding off till 12 week scan xx

froglou · 29/01/2023 16:18

@FarmBaby3 I had planned to hold off till the 12 week scan originally

Still haven't heard so I imagine I won't hear till tomorrow now, I've started vomiting again but that probably doesn't mean much, just got to keep fingers crossed. I can't help but feel that if it was a bloke who got pregnant the gynaecology/EPU would be 7 days a week and it'd all be way more accessible!

FarmBaby3 · 29/01/2023 16:45

@froglou I hope you manage to get a scan soon. I think services would be very different if men were the patients 😂
