Welcome @chillichillioil !

Me too re the hairy belly!!! I've been so sad about it.. hope it goes away after the baby is born.

On that topic, I read heartburn = hairy baby (and a small study was done and found it correlates!) I have such terrible heartburn 😪

Cuppasoupmonster · 09/11/2022 16:30

I know it’s early but when is everyone planning to pick their hospital bag? I’m planning on doing mine before my first growth scan at 28 weeks, for peace of mind more than anything. I just leave it in the car and forget about it then!

@Cuppasoupmonster good question 🤔 probably around 30 weeks too

BeingHappy · 09/11/2022 16:50

@Cuppasoupmonster we were going to do it around 32 weeks 😊

LauraA31 · 09/11/2022 16:50

@Cuppasoupmonster i realised today how much there is to do, and i feel i have zero idea about anything 😂
I found some hospital bag organisers online and may get them to fill up, gives me some idea of what i actually need to take with me!

ancienthouse · 09/11/2022 16:52

@Cuppasoupmonster I did it about 38 weeks last time. I knew I'd go overdue.

Probably the same this time really. Some of the stuff I want to pack in it I'll need to be wearing so as late as possible is best. I'll probably have piles of stuff lying around semi-organised so if I need to go into hospital earlier then I can bundle it all up then.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 09/11/2022 17:48

@Springblooms08 I'm feeling really down about pregnancy exercise tbh. Before I got knocked up I was in the best shape of my life, I had visible abs! I was getting up at 6am to do spin classes! But right now pregnancy's is sucking the life out of me and every time I exercise - even if it's Barre or Yoga I'm wiped out for the rest of the day.

With DS I was in the gym all the time and had tons of energy, but now I can maybe drag myself there once a week and I feel rubbish afterwards.

I had my 16 week appointment today and I've actually lost weight, but sadly I think I'm just losing muscle mass :(

AliceinSlumberland · 09/11/2022 19:05

@xalexandra yes i have a mobile number for my midwife which I can text, I have done twice, second time she never replied but did sort out what I was asking about so can’t be too mad haha.

@chillichillioil omg me too with the hair belly!!

Pretty sure I’m starting to feel baby move which is super exciting, need to wait and see if it progresses!

@Springblooms08 oh god I’ve not been exercising enough, pre pregnancy I swam three times a week, walked at least 45mins a day, much more at weekends, and had a hobby which is pretty active and involves some sprinting/lots of walking etc. In the first 12 weeks I was barely managing half an hour walk a few days a week, and that was because of tiredness. Now I’m managing to swim once a week, have dipped my toe back into my hobby but it absolutely wiped me out and I felt really achey, like I’d been doing tons of abs workouts! My trainer for my hobby said some women get like a support band for their belly which helps so I might try that.

It’s been a bit of a shock to the system really because I expected to feel normal until I had a big belly but I’m so much more tired and my muscles seem to tire much easier. My biggest issue though is fitting it in - I just can’t manage the up early, rushing around that swimming three times a week before work requires. I feel like working pretty much takes it out of me and I don’t have much left for exercise, although I do feel good when I do it.

MamaMenna · 09/11/2022 19:26

I've done 0 exercise beyond my normal mummying, housework and sometimes weekend walks, which is normal for me although I had started cycling a bit before getting pregnant. I do intend starting a yoga habit which a few years ago I was doing daily but it's so hard to develop the motivation to begin. I really should though I'm sure it would do me so much good. I'd also like to swim one morning a week. I've been feeling like I've been doing stomach crunches though, exactly the same achy feeling, anyone else experiencing that?

Mummy256 · 09/11/2022 20:01

Hello everyone,

Just trying to catch up with all the threads and post ☺️
Congratulations to all of you!

This is my second baby, due 10th of April.
18 weeks this week but still not feeling right. From about week 10 had a white tongue, contacted gp, done a swab for oral thrush. The swab came back negative, got prescribed Nystatin just incase. It got better for a while but it's back again. Did any of you had a white tongue?
It's affecting my eating as white tongue is causing a bitter taste in my mouth. Worried that it could affect baby's growth.
Got 20 weeks scan next week so hoping that everything is okay.

AliceinSlumberland · 09/11/2022 20:16

Any tips for indigestion/heart burn guys? Not something I normally get but it’s bad tonight and thinking it’s going to be my latest pregnancy thing 🙄

AliceinSlumberland · 09/11/2022 20:17

@MamaMenna 100% having the achy stomach crunch feeling especially after lots of bending!

Skylark1990 · 09/11/2022 21:30

I'll probably do hospital bag around 35 weeks. I haven't thought about it much but good to have it done early ISH I agree!

Exercise wise I am also lacking a lot. I have very achey hips and worried it will turn into Pgp. Am seeing a physio and doing some exercises and a bit of yoga when I can at home but really want to do a yoga class at the gym every week or something like that.

Even though it's great to exercise if we feel up to it, we also need to listen to our bodies and growing a baby is a HUGE task so we shouldn't feel bad for doing less right now! ❤️

@allfurcoatnoknickers I've also lost weight but I think it's probably the tiny bit of muscle I had too 😅 or because of the spewing all first trimester/ my weird stomach issue lately which has meant I haven't been able to eat a lot.

God I've been sooooooo tired today. Like sit down shut my eyes and fall asleep tired. Think it's coz work has been manic, and pregnancy ofc. Wish I could have a few days in bed.

Skylark1990 · 09/11/2022 21:32

@AliceinSlumberland try Rennie's as a first step then you could.move to gaviscon if they don't work! I prefer the gaviscon peppermint pills rather than the aniseed liquid.

KennAdams · 09/11/2022 21:33

Has anyone still got a heightened sense of smell in the 2nd trimester?

It is driving me CRAZY. I feel like my house reeks. No one else can smell it but it is definitely there. Don't care what they say. 😭

allfurcoatnoknickers · 09/11/2022 21:53

@KennAdams YEP. I think everything stinks. I'm obsessively opening windows and airing out the house. It's also my birthday soon and I asked my Mum for White Company vouchers so I can buy more reed diffusers.

cheekysausage · 09/11/2022 22:36

Reading through the last couple of pages made me talk to my partner about the fact I don’t think I’ll be going back to work with three children under the age of 4…he thought I was joking 🤣 To put it into context…I currently spend £600 per month on average to send my son to the childminder 3 days a week, so I can work 3 days a week. £600 a month X three kids = about £400 more than I actually take home in my pay packet 🙃🙃

KennAdams · 09/11/2022 22:50

@allfurcoatnoknickers I'm glad it's not just me!! DP is whinging that I'm imagining it but I'm defintiley not.

KennAdams · 09/11/2022 22:50

Definitely even. 🙈

Me! It's so bad.. I have some lilies someone gave me for my birthday and I am so tempted to just throw them away 😳 I tried a new reed diffuser but it's too strong and is giving me a.headache too. Most food, the smell of the fridge, freezer everything makes me want to vom 😩

Missgemini · 09/11/2022 23:21

Checking in. Gosh I’ve missed so much!
Hope you’re ok ladies x

IvyAurora · 10/11/2022 06:34

Hi everyone! Checking in and catching up. Due a boy 24th April, first baby!

Really interested in the exercise chat. I was doing so much exercise before pregnancy and I naively thought I would continue. The first trimester knocked me out and now if I do one squat my legs ache for days!

I was so disappointed to read even if you do strength training, it's impossible to build muscle in pregnancy. That really depressed me as it takes the motivation away.

Plus is hard to keep energy levels up and it's hard to know what level of exercise is kill or cure.

Re hairy belly - yes! And hair everywhere else Blush

Does anyone know of attractive post partum underwear? I want to get one nice set (underwired, comfy) as a treat for myself because I feel really disgusting at the moment Grin

DBS94 · 10/11/2022 07:11

@IvyAurora I've always been very active and tried to keep healthy which, like you, I just took it for granted that it would continue to in pregnancy! However I'm under a consultant to monitor my cervix and I'm not allowed to do anything strenuous and walks of only 20 mins at a time... I think that's been the hardest thing for me to adjust to. Im trying to look at it positively though, this time of the year is the perfect time of year to stay cosy and focus on Christmas x
