Is anybody approaching their 12 week scan? I have mine Wednesday and I’m feeling really, really anxious.

I’ve seen the heartbeat 3 times, last time was at 9w, but I am so worried of a MMC as they seem so common on here :( my symptoms have settled compared to a few weeks ago and I literally feel sick with nerves for Wednesday now rather than excited. Is anyone else the same?

My 12 week scan is this Thursday. This will be my first ever ultrasound to see a baby. I’m really nervous. I still have a flat tummy and I’m so sick and tired and sometimes have tummy pain. I just want to know everything is okay.

bubble55 · 19/12/2022 16:04

@Abbi95 thats a beautiful photo!

Scotti84 · 19/12/2022 18:28

@Lizmw we're moving back to the UK from Germany hopefully in spring, and i am slightly crapping myself about how we will manage. My husband will have to find a job, I dont think im entitled to anything having been out of the country for 8 years. Here in Germany you get 1 year paid at 80% of your wage, plus 219 euros child benefit and can take up to three years (if you can afford it). Youre also banned from working 6 weeks before and 8 weeks after the birth. Its a great system, gutted we have to leave really, but its right for our kids future. Its just going to be a lot and im trying not to think about how it will work and just try to believe that somehow it will.

Lizmw · 19/12/2022 19:00

@Scotti84 that sounds like an amazing system, such a shame you have to leave! I'd love to have 80%of my wage for that long!

Everyone I talk to says it just works out with money, it's hard to see it but otheros seem to manage. It's hard enough thinking about a morgage without a baby. Does the 'right time' ever come!?!

bubble55 · 19/12/2022 20:10

I had my first just before covid hit and my husband was put on no wage. It was awful but we managed. You really do find a way, try not to worry. We are starting to save money now to try top up my wage once on maternity. I’m NHS so luckily a decent maternity pay but it’s still difficult when you go to half pay and stat pay.

eleveneleven11 · 19/12/2022 21:06

@bubble55 i have my 12 week scan on thursday morning. really excited! my symptoms have settled too but i think that's pretty normal at this point. it's hard not to worry but i'm telling myself unless my body gives me a real reason to think something is wrong i.e bleeding or pain, then i need to just believe everything is fine. sending you the positive vibes! x

Ballygowenwater · 19/12/2022 23:33

I’ve tested positive for covid today, feeling pretty miserable and a bit nervous for what that might mean for baby. 12 week scan is on the 9th of Jan, can’t come soon enough!

rach971 · 20/12/2022 09:32

My symptoms have settled over the last week and I'm only 8+4. Got a private scan on Thursday though. Was supposed to have booking appt today but they phoned a few days ago to say the place they do it at is shut this week for Christmas so it's now next Tuesday instead at a different place.

Lizmw · 20/12/2022 12:12

I think if the morgage doesn't work out then we will just continue to save.

Now I have covid all the things I have read is that in early pregnancy it low risk, should I tell my midwife I have covid? I don't have a contact number for her.

Ballygowenwater · 20/12/2022 13:01

The one thing I would say for getting the mortgage now rather than later is that later they will possibly give you less as they will take childcare payments into account when calculating your ability to repay.

Scotti84 · 20/12/2022 19:17

Its crazy how having a baby throws everything to pot doesnt it. Obviously its a huge change but you do really start questioning and worrying about everything a lot more.

dunkedbiscuit · 20/12/2022 21:48

@Lizmw I'm also in Hampshire 👋

No I'm not sure there is ever a 'right' time tbh! Are you currently renting? That's not particularly cheap either so if it's not much difference in total outgoings I'd go for it?

Sorry to hear about those with covid, hope you don't feel too rubbish with it

bubble55 · 21/12/2022 08:44

Got my 12w scan this morning. I’m so nervous x

thelma57 · 21/12/2022 09:00

Good luck @bubble55 ! ❤️

Hope everyone is doing okay! I’m trying so hard to get in the festive mood but I’m still so ill in the evenings, thought my sickness would have gone by now (10+2) but nope!

MendaciousMabel · 21/12/2022 09:04

Good luck @bubble55 !

Mine is tomorrow afternoon, work is so dead at the moment as well so feel like this week is going so slowly too.

BabyGray · 21/12/2022 09:08

@bubble55 Good luck lovely, enjoy the moment xx

gg9320 · 21/12/2022 11:40

Also got my 12 week scan today at lunchtime, suddenly very nervous 😅 I think I’ll be too early for the nuchal translucency measurement. I’m just 11 weeks today according to a private scan 2 weeks ago. Really excited to seeing a baby that looks more like a baby than a peanut this time!

Nicole92x · 21/12/2022 12:07

i can’t believe we’re all approaching the 12 week mark so soon! I’m slightly jealous of those whose actually got a 12 week scan… mines not until I’m 14 weeks. 😂

bubble55 · 21/12/2022 12:19

Thanks everyone. It went perfect! ❤️

I have to have another scan at 28 weeks and a face to face consultation after my 20 week scan. Apparantly it’s because my first birth my little one had shoulder dystopia? Anyone know what they’ll look for/discuss?

bubble55 · 21/12/2022 12:19

Dystocia *

MendaciousMabel · 21/12/2022 12:44

Aww that’s fab @bubble55 glad all went well! ❤️

gg9320 · 21/12/2022 15:08

We were a bit too early for the nuchal testing and are away between now and about 16 weeks so we’re gonna get the NIPT done privately! But so nice to see a very wriggly fetus! Looking forward to finding out the gender!! Hope everyone else went well today 💕

Abbi95 · 21/12/2022 15:22

Oh I feel you I have hyperemesis and I’m 12+3 evenings are the worst haven’t had a hot meal in 2months medication stops the sickness but the nausea is debilitating hope your feeling better soon

dunkedbiscuit · 21/12/2022 15:52

Yay so lovely to hear the 12 week scans went well today! The blobs have grown into babies!! I have mine next week, feels forever away 😂

thelma57 · 21/12/2022 16:20

My 12 week scan is on the 4th and i’m wishing away the days! 🤞💕

My womb has felt so heavy today, very bloated and feeling very pregnant! Does anyone else get this heavy feeling?
