Hi everyone, I'm 6 weeks into my first pregnancy and feeling super nervous but excited! The morning sickness and nausea has been quite strong for the past few weeks but I've not thrown up (yet!).

Thought I'd join the group to connect with others due at the same time and get tips from the more experienced mums too 🙂

X

Congratulations and welcome :) x

@Lizmw that's so good to hear, glad you've got a supportive employer

@Nicole92x yay!! What a great scan!

I finally heard from a midwife today at 10 weeks 😂 I've got my 12 week scan on 30th Dec 🤞

thelma57 · 15/12/2022 21:44

Had another scan today for peace of mind before Christmas and my 12 week scan on the 4th. Baby was moving around so so much and their heartbeat was strong 💕
Measuring a little behind but they said that can be normal and bean was probably scrunched up! 🙏

bubble55 · 16/12/2022 16:39

Fab news @thelma57

I have my 12 week scan next week and feeling anxious now even though we’ve seen the heartbeat 3 times already. My sickness isn’t too bad and my hunger has stopped. Hoping it’s just in line with starting the second trimester soon. ❤️

Hippomumma · 16/12/2022 17:05

9+4 today and I am really struggling with the exhaustion. So much worse than first time round! Nausea is also worse. Could happily curl up in the corner and sleep for a week! Unfortunately, my 1 year old won’t let me!! 😂

Dannic2018 · 16/12/2022 18:21

We’ve got another scan Sunday so
fingers crossed they have grown 🙏 the exhaustion is real, my mam said to me today, god you look so tired 🤔 yes mother that’s because I’m absolutely exhausted 🤣 if it’s not worry, it’s a toddler, Xmas and trying to grow 2 humans ! X

rach971 · 16/12/2022 18:23

I decided to book a scan for 22nd December. The one at EPU just over a week ago went well, but I'm honestly so paranoid & convinced something is wrong, that I just knew I'd drive myself mad over Christmas if I didn't know either way 😫

rosyday · 16/12/2022 20:02

Hello everyone,

I am new here with my first pregnancy- currently 7 weeks, 5 days with a due date of 30th July.

It's been really nice to discover this shared space and comforting to read comments from others in the same boat :)

Has anyone else been really struggling coping with the cold weather? Normally I don't mind it too much but with the pregnancy it feels like I can never get warm, even though I keep wearing so many jumpers/blankets around the house! I think it's also because with the nausea/lightheadedness I feel like I can't move much because it just makes the morning sickness so much worse. Hopefully it's something that will get better with second trimester?

Anyway, very nice to meet you all and looking forward to going on this journey together Smile

dunkedbiscuit · 17/12/2022 15:48

Welcome @rosyday and congratulations! Yes I've found the cold harder this year, pregnancy does all kinds of crazy things to us!

BabyGray · 17/12/2022 15:51

Had our reassurance scan today at 11+3. Our NHS scan isn't until 13 weeks so thought it would be nice to tell family Christmas Day with a cute picture 🥰🥰 xxx

Aww how perfect @BabyGray 💕💕💕

BabyGray · 17/12/2022 17:05

@thelma57 Thank you so much xxx

Scotti84 · 17/12/2022 18:35

That's a fab picture @BabyGray perfect for telling your family!

I'm glad you found a solution @Lizmw, good that it worked out on both sides!

I've got my 12 week scan on Friday. Also doing a gestational diabetes test as I had it last time which I am dreading. I kept it under control without insulin last time but found it really hard with watching what I could and couldn't eat, and that was only for about 6 weeks. Anyone had GD with one pregnancy and then not the next time? Or is it a given that as I've had it once I'll have it again?

bubble55 · 17/12/2022 19:09

@Scotti84 I was meant to have the test last pregnancy but my midwife forgot to send me for it 😂 my dad has diabetes so that’s why I need it. My midwife this time said she won’t forget, grrr! When do we have it done?

Scotti84 · 18/12/2022 10:15

@bubble55 last time I had it in about week 30 I think, but because I had it last time they're doing it at the 12 week scan. I'd remind them to do it, its best to know. They induced me on my due date as they said there was a risk of a big baby... she wasn't big at all, but better to be on the safe side.

Lizmw · 19/12/2022 09:26

I know this is very early but I'm already thinking about maternity pay.

We might be getting a morgage which will be about a £1000 a month not including bills ect.
I earn about £2100 a month and parnter earns about £1600.
How do people afford mortgages on maternity pay? I'd love to take a whole year off.

EmmRach · 19/12/2022 09:55

@Lizmw it's so tough. Specially with interest rates increasing so much at the moment 😓

I switched jobs from a job I love. To one that is 'meh' because my dream job didn't offer any maternity pay over the stat stuff. So we will be alright to have least 6 months and then we will need to re-address our situation. But I've had to sacrifice to get that 6 months.

It really sucks.

We’re holding off from buying a house and getting a mortgage until I am back at work. I also earn more than my DP. I won’t be taking a year off. I personally wouldn’t risk a £1000 a month mortgage when your DP only earns £1600.

Lizmw · 19/12/2022 11:22

@PinkPink1 this is probably the cheapest house we could buy. We live in Hampshire and this is very very cheap for a 2 bed house. Otherwise houses are double the price. the house is cheap as it needs a lot of work doing to it which we are more than capable of doing.

How much mat pay are you entitled to? That’s a doable mortgage but only if you are both working. You also need to think of bills. Your DP’s salary won’t go far. It’s up to you, but I wouldn’t risk a mortgage until after mat leave.

bubble55 · 19/12/2022 13:19

Is anybody approaching their 12 week scan? I have mine Wednesday and I’m feeling really, really anxious.

I’ve seen the heartbeat 3 times, last time was at 9w, but I am so worried of a MMC as they seem so common on here :( my symptoms have settled compared to a few weeks ago and I literally feel sick with nerves for Wednesday now rather than excited. Is anyone else the same?

Abbi95 · 19/12/2022 13:58

I had mine this morning I was nervous but baby is doing well! Nerves are so normal but seeing baby gave me such a boost I needed!
