@MendaciousMabel I've hit 9 weeks and feel the same. The nausea and vomiting have stepped up a bit. Not sure how I'll make it to the end but hopefully it will go quick.

I had a midwife's appointment and need a higher dose of folic acid. Hopefully I'll get it tomorrow. Although I never had high blood pressure in any of my pregnancies I still have to take aspirin after 12 weeks (I developed high blood pressure post pregnancy which is still counted as related to pregnancy).

GGxxx · 05/12/2022 07:49

@Scotti84 in the uk you only get two scans at 12 weeks and 20 weeks unless there are concerns. You have a doctors app at 8 weeks then 16weeks it’s normally every month then until you get to 36 weeks and there more regular.
has any one started showing?
I am only 8 weeks and reckon be in my mat jeans soon was the same last time I am only a size 6 so show straight away xx

thelma57 · 05/12/2022 12:49

8 weeks today for me! 💕🤞
I’ve booked another scan for the end of next week to get me through the Christmas period!

Hope everyone is doing okay, my sickness seems a little better in the day but hits me at night time now, just making sure I eat as soon as it comes on!

@heartbroken22 my midwife offered to get me a prescription for folic acid, hope they’ve done the same for you too!

This thread has made me realise how different services are across the country!

MamaidhMathMath · 05/12/2022 13:01

@thelma57 I'm glad your sickness is improving. mine seems to hit as soon as I eat. Last time I was constantly nauseous but only threw up a couple of times. This time round it's only small amounts but four or five times a day. I went to work with a tupperware sick bowl today!

thelma57 · 05/12/2022 13:08

Oh no, bless you @MamaidhMathMath how far along are you?
I have seen some people say it eases and then gets worse so I’m not counting my chickens just yet! 🙈

Scotti84 · 05/12/2022 17:06

@GGxxx bloody hell, now i get why so many people are talking about booking private scans. I get an appt every 4 weeks and have a scan at every one. Its the only thing that gives me peace of mind that everything is going okay.

Dannic2018 · 05/12/2022 17:13

I’m 8 weeks tomorrow so will be hopefully booking a scan for just before Xmas to make sure all is ok. I’ve never felt as sick as I have in this pregnancy though, it comes on and off all day but mostly mid morning and my toddler slept rubbish last night so I need to sleep for a week 🤣 x

GGxxx · 05/12/2022 17:14

@Scotti84 are you in Germany? My cousin lives there health care sounds miles better. Yeh you don’t get much support and they don’t like you going in for check ups unless your over 24 weeks I had a car crash with my last pregnancy at 20 weeks I was ok just wanted to check the baby and they was reluctant to see me before 24 weeks xx

Scotti84 · 05/12/2022 18:31

@GGxxx yeah i am. Dont like you going in before 24 weeks? Thats shocking! Especially after a car crash, of course you would want to know everything is ok. I know the NHS is pushed to its limits but health in pregnancy isnt something to be complacent about. I do wish i could wait until after the birth to come back but doing the move with a newborn would be too hard.

Abbi95 · 05/12/2022 20:12

I wish I was but I don’t think the medication makes a whole lot of difference :( The nausea is so debilitating I feel so lazy not being able to do anything when I’m usually really active :( also missing out on Christmas things with my daughter and husband! Sorry your feeling bad o know medication worked okay for me for a little bit in my first pregnancy so it’s worth a try I know I have a while left to go with the nausea and sickness which is the worst because I’ve been through it before

heartbroken22 · 05/12/2022 20:53

@thelma57 naah my midwife was trying to be too empathetic but she wasn't quite there if you know what I mean. She couldn't find the expiry date on the aspirin she was going to give me and I helped her out after her getting quite frustrated. For my blood test she couldn't find my vein and then when she did the needle popped out and it squirted all on the floor like a blood bath. I said I'm sorry I must have made you nervous and a student midwife said no no Kate's been doing this for years she's really good. I wish that were true I've got bruises on both arms! I took the letter for folic acid/vitamin d/aspirin to my doctors on Thursday and rang today to see if prescription had been done. Guess what they did? They rang my parents house and asked them if they could talk to me about my antenatal care! I haven't even told anyone about my pregnancy....so obviously I'll be having words tomorrow. I did give them my mobile number so not sure why they rang my next of kin.

heartbroken22 · 05/12/2022 20:56

@Abbi95 aww sorry to hear that! I tried cyclizine today and it worked but I don't like the headache that follows. I feel hungover and have bad thoughts. Then feel normal again. I hope these days pass soon for all of us. This will be my last pregnancy too. I'm just so worried my daughters will go through this when they're pregnant. But I'll be there for them.

CBG34 · 05/12/2022 21:52

Has anyone got any tips for managing the sickness..? I've had constant nausea since week 4 and 3 weeks later it's really affecting my everyday life and I've puked up twice for the first time today 🙈

I've heard eating plain crackers and fruit pastilles helps so trying those and also bought wrist bands which seem to be helping a bit. Open to any suggestions that might help! 🙏

EmmRach · 06/12/2022 08:12

I'm so sorry to all those struggling for what I'm about to post....

Anyone feeling alright? I've had very little nausea and when I have it's been low level. I've deffo had fatigue but at a manageable level (this will be my first so I can rest!)

Just worrying that my symptoms aren't 'enough' others seem to be having it really hard

Scotti84 · 06/12/2022 16:07

@CBG34 got a real craving for fruit pastilles after reading your post. im on ginger tea and ginger biscuits!

MamaidhMathMath · 06/12/2022 16:55

@EmmRach some people sail through early pregnancy. My SiL had that pregnancy glow from about 4 weeks onwards, and if that's the case for you, enjoy it!
I think those of us who are feeling rough are more likely to post frequently so it can seem like you're the odd one out

eleveneleven11 · 06/12/2022 17:37

@EmmRach i'm in the same boat as you. I'm 10 weeks today and have experienced low level fatigue but nothing debilitating and very very mild nausea - nothing to complain about. i have been getting headaches though, still very breathless and also, ahem, constipated!

try not to worry about not having symptoms. more people I know have felt ok throughout pregnancy than people that haven't! x

thelma57 · 06/12/2022 19:27

My mam was saying she was fit as a flea with my brother who was her first, I think it’s just the luck of the draw really!
I’m far from glowing and feel like a shadow of myself but still counting my blessings 💕🤞

rach971 · 06/12/2022 19:42

@EmmRach All I've really had is some mild nausea. Enough to put me off eating too much sometimes, but not so much that I feel like I'm actually going to vomit.

EmmRach · 06/12/2022 22:58

Ok, this is reassuring thank you @eleveneleven11 @thelma57 @rach971 @MamaidhMathMath

It makes sense that the ones not having it as hard are probably not mentioning as much. Which is totally understandable for those who feel awful.

Maybe I'm just a lucky one 🤷🏻‍♀️🤞🏻
Sending strength to those who aren't!!

Thanks for your messages. I do feel happier about it now knowing others are the same.

bubble55 · 07/12/2022 07:45

Has anybody gained weight? I’m 10 weeks and gained 5lb and I’m absolutely gutted because how big will I actually get?! I must admit I do have issues about my body and weight, so I am worried to put too much on. I’ve been snacking more as the hunger has been unbearable but I really hope it calms down.

rach971 · 07/12/2022 08:03

@EmmRach I've not posted much in general tbh, because I've been having spotting for a week and a half and I've got an EPU scan tomorrow. So didn't really want to keep being too involved on here until I know what's going on properly.

In my first pregnancy (now a healthy 7 year old daughter) I literally just had some mild nausea at the beginning, and some food aversions and that was it the entire way through. So definitely a lack of symptoms doesn't mean anything bad.

I think it's one of those where the people throwing up all the time wish they weren't, and those who aren't throwing up at all, wish they were because they want stronger symptoms 🤣

MendaciousMabel · 07/12/2022 08:39

I'm going to sound ridiculous but I am so convinced something is wrong. I'm 9+6 today, felt really unwell over the weekend with nausea, fatigue. Monday and Tuesday I was absolutely fine except for being more tired than usual. I usually have a mild gluten intolerance but I haven't had a reaction for about two weeks and because I want things like toast etc I have been eating more gluten. I then had a gluten reaction last night and I basically have no pregnancy symptoms now except being tired, and I think my nipples have shrunk down too. I'm now thinking that because I'm reacting to gluten again and other symptoms have gone, my hormones have dropped. I don't feel like I can contact the midwives for this as nothing has happened I just feel like it's gone wrong. Needed to vent here because I can't vent anywhere else...

MendaciousMabel · 07/12/2022 08:43

Also I started with mild period like cramps last night that went on for a few hours and they've started up again this morning 😔I'm so worried but don't know what to do.
