@Butterfliesandroses yes that rings a bell with me from my 1st

Welcome @CBG34 and congratulations!

eleveneleven11 · 30/11/2022 12:07

@CBG34 congrats and welcome! sorry to hear you've been feeling lousy but hey, strong hormones are always good 🥰
i'm 9 weeks pregnant and this is also my first pregnancy - so exciting! hope this thread can calm some of your nerves x

Scotti84 · 30/11/2022 13:36

Just got back from my scan appt, baby is there, heart beating and all looking good. Such a relief, I feel I can start to be a bit more excited now.

They recommended me the Harmony test due to my old age, which I think I am going to do. Has anyone else had this? I didn't have it with my daughter, I just had a more indepth scan.

Got to go back in 4 weeks for a gestational diabetes test too as I had that last time. Not looking forward to 7 months of finger prices and weird food combos!

Dannic2018 · 30/11/2022 14:03

@Scotti84 I’m guessing my your user name your my age,38? I had my son at 36 and still classed as ‘old’ then but just had the blood tests so unsure if they’ll offer anything else. What date are you due ? I’m still holding off having a scan till I’m past 8 weeks (next week) x

bubble55 · 30/11/2022 16:28

My pains aren’t as bad today but still twingey. Coincidentally it’s my day off work today so I’ve kept my mind busy and no work pressures. I feel like the EPU Will think I’m a paranoid woman tomorrow 🙈 but will be nice to have that reassurance at the same time.

EmmRach · 30/11/2022 16:58

@bubble55 don't worry about what they think. Most important that you get the reassurance you need. Plus I bet they have seen waaaaaay more paranoid people 🤣🤣

thelma57 · 30/11/2022 17:04

Hope everyone is doing okay! 💕

Is anyone who has had a scan already thinking of getting another one before your 12 week scan? My scan is 4th January and we had one at 6+4 and all was fine - but just feel like I want to see babe again at around 10 weeks or is this just a waste of money?

EmmRach · 30/11/2022 17:31

@thelma57 I don't have my 12 week scan date yet. Had a private one at 6+1 (although my period put me at 7 weeks). I think it depends when I get my NHS scan date. But I am considering it just before Xmas as a bit of reassurance / Xmas treat to get me through the festive period!!

thelma57 · 30/11/2022 17:33

That’s what I was thinking @EmmRach it would be lovely to be certain everything was okay around Christmas time 🤞

Scotti84 · 30/11/2022 18:04

@Dannic2018 yep 38, I had my daughter when I just turned 37 and I'll be 39 by the time this one's here. I'm in Germany so they do things a bit different here, scans every 4 weeks starting from around the 8th week, I'm due 25th July I think. She said she would be able to date it better at the next one.

Did they not offer you an amniocentesis then?

Dannic2018 · 30/11/2022 18:53

@Scotti84 no I was never offered or
mentioned it so I doubt I will this time, probably just do the blood test. I was 37 the month after my son was born. I’d love to know everything is ok but waiting until 10 weeks. Wish England did what Germany do as that would be fab for my worrying brain ha x

eleveneleven11 · 30/11/2022 19:08

@thelma57 yessss we had an 8 week NHS scan last week and really want the private scan experience so got one booked in at 10 weeks on dec 12th 🥰 if you can afford it then i definitely don't think it would be a waste of money!

MendaciousMabel · 30/11/2022 20:32

I had a private scan a couple of weeks ago and I was at 7+2 and all was looking good. I had my booking appointment this week and waiting to hear about when my 12 week scan would be, depending on the date for that I may get another private one in just before Xmas as I’ll be 12 weeks on the 22nd.

been a bit awol as moved house last week and having a very chaotic time with it all! Finally feel like I can relax again now lol

gg9320 · 30/11/2022 20:39

I got offered by booking appointment today… for the 23rd December when I’m over 12 weeks 😅 only after then would they book me in for the ultrasound. I’m away all of January so not looking hopeful for me to get my NHS 12 week scan!

Thinking of booking a private diagnostic test Would a NIPT or one of these harmony/panorama tests be best do you think? Or would they do combined test in private, I haven’t seen anything other than the really expensive ones!

bubble55 · 30/11/2022 20:41

Is anybody doing the nuchal testing? I didn’t with my first and said no to this one too and midwife seemed surprised. Do most people do it? X

Scotti84 · 01/12/2022 08:48

@Dannic2018 it is brilliant here, from a health care perspective. We're actually just waiting for our visa so we can move back to the uk so I'm quite happy its worked out that I will get the pre birth care here but give birth in england where we have more support.

I think I'm going to do the harmony test, the downs isn't so much of an issue, but if they have the other genetic problems and wouldn't live long after the birth I would rather know about it in advance.

PinkPink1 · 01/12/2022 09:00

Sorry for this, but I’m 9 weeks and I had tummy ache and nausea this morning. I then had foul smelling loose stools. Is this normal? Really sorry!

bubble55 · 01/12/2022 09:24

Scan went well and no cause of pain identified so just stretching pains. Baby had little hands and feet and was waving 🥹

EmmRach · 01/12/2022 09:49

Aww @bubble55 that's brilliant!! How lovely!! Did they date you? How cute it was waving!!

heartbroken22 · 01/12/2022 09:51

@bubble55 that's great news! How far along are you

bubble55 · 01/12/2022 09:52

@EmmRach i’m one day ahead at 9+4 😊

heartbroken22 · 01/12/2022 10:35

@PinkPink1 apparently it's normal but if it's happening quite regularly I'd contact your doctor. It's just all your hormones from pregnancy affecting your body.

Good old hormones! Thank you. If this happens again tomorrow then I’ll get in touch with my GP :)

Dannic2018 · 01/12/2022 18:17

Aw ladies I’m in pain so bad. Hoping it’s trapped wind but unsure. Only thing that I’ve had different is I got the 5mg of folic acid off the doctor. Pain is stabbing in my right hand side near my hip but goes into my bum. If I try and wee or put pressure while on loo the pain hurts more. Don’t know what to do 😢😢

heartbroken22 · 02/12/2022 00:42

@Dannic2018 it could be gas or constipation? I hope you're okay. Ring the doctor and see if u can get some lactulose or something.
