Lizmw · 28/11/2022 17:44

If I Don't hear from anyone by next week should I call them?

BabyGray · 28/11/2022 18:20

@Lizmw my midwife appointment isn't until 15th December which I will be over 11 weeks then and my '12 week' scan is on 28th December which I will be over 13 weeks xx

dunkedbiscuit · 28/11/2022 19:40

I'm so very very sorry @Daniki

Scotti84 · 29/11/2022 07:39

Anyone got a bit of a cold? Ive caught it off my daughter, can barely speak this morning and been coughing up phlegm, is this dangerous for baby? Or am i overthinking already

MamaidhMathMath · 29/11/2022 08:30

Shouldn't affect pregnancy in any way @Scotti84 but it always feels like adding insult to injury to pile a cold on top of all the other symptoms!

bubble55 · 29/11/2022 08:51

Has anybody had period type pain? Mine was really bad last night, really felt like I was about to come on and pain radiating all to my back. Is that normal?

Scotti84 · 29/11/2022 10:02

@MamaidhMathMath thanks, i feel like i could sleep for a week! Wish i could too 😅

EmmRach · 29/11/2022 15:45

@bubble55 I've had low level period type cramps about week 6. But nothing I'd consider actually painful. Just annoying if you know what I mean. If you have real pain perhaps call your GP?

How is everyone coping at work? I feel constantly hung over and I am the opposite of productive at the moment. 🙃

bubble55 · 29/11/2022 16:03

@EmmRach I don’t know whether to call them pains or not today. It’s more of a stomach ache griping kind of ache. I’m just so paranoid about anything that doesn’t feel entirely normal. I’ve called EPU and waiting for a call back x

MamaidhMathMath · 29/11/2022 17:40

Just had my booking in appointment with the midwife and my god I'm cross with my gp. I had an appointment with them when I first found out I was pregnant and asked them if I needed to take extra folic acid due to my high BMI and they said no.

Turns out I should have been on over 10x the usual dose.

Absolutely not going to spend the period between now and my dating scan panicking about neural tube defects, no, not at all...

Dannic2018 · 29/11/2022 18:20

@MamaidhMathMath can I be really cheeky and ask how high is your bmi or how far over ? Just my bmi is higher than it should be so now I’m worrying

Butterfliesandroses · 29/11/2022 18:54

@Dannic2018 my GP told me you needed to take additional folic acid if your BMI was over 30 if that helps x

Butterfliesandroses · 29/11/2022 18:55

@MamaidhMathMath sorry to hear you were misinformed. May be worth making a formal complaint to prevent others having the same issue x

MamaidhMathMath · 29/11/2022 19:01

Mine is pushing 40 though I'm hoping it will drop now I'm not fancying snacks or drinking loads of lattes 😂

As@Butterfliesandroses says, anyone over 30 BMI or with other risk factors should be taking a higher dose.

I will complain to the practice. Am peeved with myself for not double checking as well though, I looked up so many other things but not that

bubble55 · 29/11/2022 19:14

I have a scan on Thursday because of my stomach pains. I feel like I’m a paranoid crazy woman. The nurse who called me was the nurse I’ve seen before and she said “what’s happening now” in jest but I do feel a bit mad. She said it’s a reassurance scan for my history.

please tell me I’m not the only anxious person? 😬

RainbowSearching · 29/11/2022 19:43

@bubble55 whats your pain like? I get pelvic area pain later in the afternoon / night time. I’ve had 3 miscarriages in the last year so on edge with everything….

bubble55 · 29/11/2022 19:44

@RainbowSearching its more of an ache than a pain but a bit gripey and bubbly with the odd twinge/cramp like pain.

RainbowSearching · 29/11/2022 19:47

@bubble55 🤞🏻it’s just stretching and pulling

Dannic2018 · 29/11/2022 20:30

@MamaidhMathMath so can I just take an additional tablet ? Or do I need to ring the doc. I am just border line on 30 though and no one has even mentioned it and didn’t with my son 2 years ago. Miscommunication with medical professionals isn’t great. Hope you’re ok x

dunkedbiscuit · 29/11/2022 20:31

@MamaidhMathMath how far along are you, can you start taking the increased dose now?

MamaidhMathMath · 29/11/2022 21:50

I'm 6 1/2 weeks so yes, I will take extra otc tablets until the prescription is ready on Friday. I shall be rattling by then as it amounts to 12 a day!

@Dannic2018 probably best to ring and check with gp or midwife team. Honestly can't remember if it was discussed with my last pregnancy in 2018 - most of my first trimester was a nausea tinged blur!

heartbroken22 · 29/11/2022 23:09

Anyone else having trouble sleeping on their stomach? Sleep on the side with a pillow for support because the moment my belly is pressed even a little bit...nausea and headache arrive...not great.

Butterfliesandroses · 30/11/2022 07:52

@Dannic2018 my GP said the guidelines had only recently changed as it used to be over BMI of 35 before you took extra.. don't know how true this is obviously but its what I was told.

CBG34 · 30/11/2022 08:13

Hi everyone, I'm 6 weeks into my first pregnancy and feeling super nervous but excited! The morning sickness and nausea has been quite strong for the past few weeks but I've not thrown up (yet!).

Thought I'd join the group to connect with others due at the same time and get tips from the more experienced mums too 🙂
