Well, I can't believe I'm starting this thread, but very happy to be. I'm due August 1st (according to one of those online due date calculators) and ds and dd were both over a week late, so I reckon it will be an August babe. Here's hoping. Still very early days for me, and I have an early scan to get done as I had an ectopic pregnancy in March this year.

Looking forward to someone joining me.

nosy interloper stalks in (not PG!)

blossom2 - i had exactly the same sort of pains as you - lower abdo twinges at about first time, and everything was fine. i think its to do with all the changes in shape of uterus etc going on - i remember there was nothing in the books about it, but people on other boards had experienced the same

Eulalia · 03/01/2005 11:01

kate - thanks for doing the list.

forevermore - good luck with the scan on Wednesday.

Twiga - congrats on reaching this far.

Even though this is my 3rd I feel more nervous, a bit like I was with my first. I guess I can't believe I can manage 3 in a row. 10 weeks now and the nausea has almost gone. So has my cold too. Midwife on Thur and scan next week. I can't wait to tell everyone.

I?m rather worried as I started bleeding yesterday. This also happened in my last pregnancy (week 8 and I?m now week 7) so I?m trying to keep hopeful. However last time it was just one bleed but I?ve just realised it?s still going on (thought it had stopped this morning). It started like old blood, then got bright red and is now old looking again so I hope that means it?s stopping. I tried to just sit quietly last night (dh was really good and wouldn?t let me do much) but ds wanted to jump all over me! I?ve not done much today either ? just took ds to the park and walked round the village, then home to get lunch. Dh has taken ds to his mum?s leaving me time and quiet to do some marking. I know you can?t really stop a m/c if it?s going to happen and this is just a little bleed ? nothing like the flood I had with a 5 week m/c (had two of those before ds was born) ? it would be great to know why bleeding happens, just to understand it a bit and not feel so worried. Would an m/c at this stage start like this or would it be more prolific bleeding with pain? I?m feeling nothing unusual ? just the odd twinge.

Interesting (and good news!) that you had such a positive experience with your PND Kate100 - I'm in Warwickshire so not that far away but although one of the cosultants I spoke to was supposed to be an expert, I felt the only therapy offered was letting me blather on - which I'd much rather do on a forum like this - more of a community with helpful advice offered and no one pretending to be superior or 'know it all'. Having said that, I hope I'm not on MN boring everyone with PND after August, just that I'm on here celebrating with you all a safe, successful birth - fingers and toes crossed.

kate100 · 03/01/2005 18:01

thinking if you teatime (((((((hugs)))))))

dramaqueen72 · 03/01/2005 18:12

wishing you well teatime, let us know how youre doing.

forevermore · 03/01/2005 19:58

goodluck teatime; i have heard that these symptoms are very common in healthy pregnancy's so i pray you look back on this time in august and smile.

Azure · 03/01/2005 20:05

TeaTime, I'm sorry to hear about this scare. It's so difficult to tell what a bleed means - you are already aware of the worst outcome, but there are plenty of stories on Mumsnet about people having bleeds throughout successful pregnancies. Can you contact your GP tomorrow to arrange a scan at your local EPU? At this stage they should be able to tell straight away if all is well, as long as you are sure on dates. I really wish you well.

hereshoping · 03/01/2005 20:39

Hi all, seems that lots of people were as busy in November as me!
Im due on 12 Aug,hopefully with no 4 and am 8 -9 weeks now. This has been a very anxious pregnancy so far as I had a missed miscarriage in Aug 2004, I turned up for my 12 week scan having had no bleeding or worries to be told I'd lost the baby at 7.5 weeks. In hindsight though I'd felt too well, hadn't gone off tea/coffee/alcohol and didnt feel that sick. This time have fairly strong symptoms but will not relax until after first scan on 14 Jan.
Can anyone help me out with the abbreviations - dh/ds/dd/AFP etc _ Im novice at this!

colinsmommy · 03/01/2005 20:45

Hi hereshoping. Go to the top of the page to the right of useful stuff, and click on acronym list. I think most of them are covered there. Welcome to the site, and congratulations.

blossom2 · 03/01/2005 20:51

Teatime - so sorry that you've had bleeding.

However i did read this article about bleeding in pregnancy in a magazine. This woman bled throughout all her pregnancy and the baby was fine.

so try not to worry until you've seen a doctor. good luck xx

oopsanta · 03/01/2005 21:03

teatime, I bled and bled for the whole first trimester with my DS. Sometimes it was so bad that I didn't dare leave the hiuse as I was soaking through pads so quickly (TMI-sorry)
DS is now a perfect perfect litle boy and obviously never had any problems due to this.
Hope that males you feel more poeitive, but I also agree thaat you should go to drs and get a ref to an EPDU so they can scan you, or even do some bts to see if the pg is ok.
I am fine as far as bleeding this time but the ms is horrible horrible horrible. I am sick between 2-5 times daily. Am bored of this now, and my poor stomach is beginning to hurt .

bonkerz · 03/01/2005 21:37

am thinking of you too teatime ((hugs)) hope oyu are feeling ok and the bleeding has stopped.

I was getting spotting up until last week but a scan showed a heartbeat and ive relaxed abit and am now ok. Have started to get a hard belly and dh commented that i look like i am showing!!! Have terrible acid throat and am downing atleast 4 pints of milk a day but have had no more nausea or sickness! Keep thinking my dates are out as conception says 5th august but period says 11th august! That extra time means im 10 weeks!!!!!! Maybe i will get told at 12 week scan that im actually nearly 14 weeks!!!

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 03/01/2005 23:28

Teatime, hugs to you, Dramaqueen, I am currently suffering from pnd, my dd is only 5 months old, this babe was rather unexpected and will be my fifth!! I am currently having cbt privately as the waiting list was 2 years long, I have only had 3 sessions but definately feel it is helping, I have homework, where by I have to keep a mood diary on a adaily basis and rate my mood and my daily acheivement. At the moment she has also asked me to try and replace one negative thought a day with a positive one.easier said than done!!! Happy new year everyone btw!

TeaTime · 04/01/2005 01:11

Thanks for the support everyone - I can't tell you what a relief it is to read this and other threads and know that bleeding in pregnancy is fairly common and 'normal'. Still a trickle but I feel positive about things. Ds has an appointment at the hospital for assessing whether to put grommets in tomorrow (he has glue ear) so will be close to the scanning room - doubt whether I'd be lucky enough to get one straight away though!

welcome to hereshoping! Sorry about the earlier m/c - you must be desperate for a scan too! Hope all goes well this time!

chickpea · 04/01/2005 12:10

Hello All

Hope you don't mind a newcomer (well not so new as this will be ny fourth bambino). I'm due August 18th and still reeling from the shock as my youngest dd is still only 6 months old. I am feeling rather nervous about phoning the doctor to get the ball rolling as I had 2 mcs before Martha (youngest dd) at 12 and 16 wks. But all went superbly with last pregnancy so I am hoping this will be fine too.

Looking forward to getting to know you all - is anyone on number four? or will anyone be coping with two under 14 months? Must be in sane.

CP

beachyhead · 04/01/2005 12:36

Hello - can I creep onto this thread. Found out on Dec 27th. 3 rd baby, 5th pregnancy - I've had two m/c's in the last 18 mos so I'm not holding out much hope for this one... but last try for me as it is due just before my 40th b'day!!!! LMP was Nov 20th so whats my due date? I'm hopeless at these things.... Anyway off to the early miscarriage consultant on Friday and at 12 weeks, I get transferred to the pre-ecalmpsia consultant as I get that too. God, I must be mad - so fingers crossed for me and good luck to everyone on this thread.....

Morgan · 04/01/2005 13:17

Hi everyone. Beachyhead your due date will be 27 Aug as mine is 31st and lmp 24 Nov.

Had tiny bit of spotting yesterday and day before but none today yet and no pains but as nothing could be seen on the scan at five weeks i can't be sure of anything. Vary hugely between optimism and pessimism as to what is happening.

Azure · 04/01/2005 13:19

Congratulations and welcome to ChickPea and Beachyhead. Beachyhead, your due date is August 27 (2 days after mine). I went along to my GP's this morning to get in the system, only to find out that my appointment is for tomorrow morning - durr. Pregnancy brain obviously kicking in early. TeaTime, glad you're feeling positive about things - I hope you manage to get your early scan.

Azure · 04/01/2005 13:20

Morgan - chances are the spotting is just a scare. It's so difficult and so worrying at this early stage, isn't it.

Morgan · 04/01/2005 13:23

Yep!! trying to carry on as normal with ds1 who is 3 (at nursery at the mo!) but time is passing so slowly...

beachyhead · 04/01/2005 13:28

Hurray, two days after my dh 40th Birthday and 3 days before mine!!!! Bang go all our plans for a party to end all parties!!!!!! Will be saggy and tired (I guess how you should be when you are 40). Anyway, knowing me, it will be a C-section late July or early August, so I plan to beat everyone to it!!!!!

Morgan · 04/01/2005 13:29

well my ds was five weeks early so if i get that far i've no idea what will happen - could easily be the first!!

beachyhead · 04/01/2005 13:36

I'll raise you 9 weeks early with my dd, (but I am NOT doing that again!!!)

chickpea · 04/01/2005 14:28

Beachyhead - I had 2mcs between 2 and 3 but the third pregnancy was as smooth and painless as I could have hoped for. I am convinced that it was just bad luck with the first two - if that is at all reassuring. I am also in my mid thirties and on number 4 now. I noticed that space cadet is in a similar position to me with a young baby and the next one on the way. How are you coping SC?
CP

moschops · 04/01/2005 14:30

hi girls......well my symptoms are starting to kick in but i am so tired it can't be normal. still haven't been able to get a doctors appointment either (my surgery is so oversubscribed)

is anyone else feeling like they need to sleep all day? and i'm also feeling really unsociable too, we left the pub early on New Years Eve because i just couldn't tolerate being around people, and i don't want visitors to the house. i just want to curl up on the sofa with dp, the dog and watch a good film/doze. god i sound really miserable don't i?

i've had a really bad headache for the last three days, and been feeling very sick, but not actually thrown up. my dp is being an absolute dream, cooking for me and telling me not to feel guilty that i'm too tired to do housework.....but i'm back at work this week and dreading it......i'm so tired i'm convinced i'm going to fall asleep in the shop....
