My twins are due in May and it would be nice to have other multiple-mums-to-be to chat to!

i-candy pear

TAMBA do a buggy guide as well you can buy for 3.50, which I will definitely buy as it's a lot cheaper than the 'wrong' pushchair buggy guide

accessorizequeen · 06/06/2008 19:30

Ta for reminder of buggy guide, I might get that although I'd almost decided to get a p&T side by side. The pear is quite interesting that's for sure, but can't be used for newborns without the carrycots and I didn't want carrycots as ds2 will need to sit down! Your ds possible not going to have the same issue, mine has only been walking 3 weeks and is several months younger, I just can't see him standing on a buggy board. I don't know much about the icandy ranges, but with some of the 'clip-on' car seats they're actually a complete PITA for example bugaboos and mountain buggies. I never bothered with the attachment for my mountain buggy as it was sooo faffy and once had a good laugh at some bloke trying to get a maxi-cosi attached to a bugaboo. The time he spent he could have put the baby in the carrycot 12 times! But some of them are v.easy and for the first time I can see the value of travel systems! I do believe anything that makes getting around easier prob. worth it's weight in gold. I certainly found isofix seat a godsend with ds2 as it just clicked in literally. Must buy another...

I'm 23 weeks now, someone said today I mustn't have long to go!!! Ha ha . I'm now hating telling anyone I'm having twins as they all look incredibly sorry for me which is p&^sing me off. Woman approached me a soft play this morning and when pushed, I said I was expecting twins, she said she didn't want to get pg again (she had 2 with 17 month age gap) in case it was twins! Bit insulting really.

Anyway, had a emergency section with ds1 which was pretty nasty and I could barely move for weeks although I'm reasonably sure some of that was down to a) shock and b) getting to 9cms dilated before they intervened. I was induced, put on a drip, epidural, then section so can imagine a nice calm scheduled section not as bad but I still don't want to do it!

Twinkle

MerryMarigold · 10/06/2008 21:23

Hi twinkle. Did that happen while you were on holiday then? Thanks for letting us know, I do often wonder how things are going with you. Hope all goes well if I don't get to post again before you have them...ooooh so exciting to think of them out in this world, I bet. Was 33 wks your target? Look after yourself...

Mars - Hi. Sounds like you're really helping Pazza with that tandem feeding thing. She is doing a great job. I am grateful I have breastfed one before, so am hoping it won't be so hard as I won't be starting from scratch, as it were. I had a leaky boob as I got in the shower yesterday, big drips of colustrum at 17 wks! I know it's a long way away, but how do you get them to be hungry at the same time? Obviously it's a lot quicker to tandem feed, but am wondering how you co-ordinate their hunger pangs...

MerryMarigold · 13/06/2008 22:56

Hi fellow twin people. Had a scan today which confirmed twins not triplets. Must say I am grateful! Also had a wee look between the legs and they reckon it is a girl and a boy! I'm so excited!!! It's exactly what I wanted...but won't really believe I have a baby girl until it's reconfirmed at my 20wk scan (or 22wk scan!).

Twinkle, not heard from you. Am assuming you have some little babies already. Woweeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Accessorize, how are you going? You're having one of each too, right? How tempting is it to get loads of lovely little girl things?!

GettingBiggerBird · 14/06/2008 18:09

MM: Congratulations on the twin confirmation! One of each sounds nice - we must be at roughly the same stage as I had my 12-week scan last Thurs and found out it's probably identical twins. I am definitely going to find out the sex at the next scan (I get loads because of just one placenta - apparently lots more risk) and I need to prepare myself and my DD who will be devastated if it's boys!

twinkle1 · 14/06/2008 18:55

No still here
Just in and out of hospital like a yoyo at the min.
Twin 1 still has reduced liquor so we are off for monitoring every day plus a specialist scan on wed and a growthscan on fri!!!!!!!
I feel like i live at the flippin hospital. Not long to go now though.
twinkle

Diege · 15/06/2008 17:27

Hope you don't mind me popping in ladies, just wanted to say hello to Twinkle!! I'll drop you an e-mail, but hoping these next few days aren't too stressful for you. Take care, not long now!!

MerryMarigold · 15/06/2008 22:22

Gettingbigger I am 18+5 at the moment. Identicals are exciting...though the risk is higher, it's more unusual and very cool. You already have a dd, so wouldn't 2 boys be nice? Boys are a lot easier to handle imo. Imagine twin teenage girls! I already have a ds, so really, really wanted at least one girl, but am quite glad it is only 1!

Twinkle - ah, your still hanging in there, good on ya...all those scans could send anyone into prem labour. At our hospital I usually have to park about 10 mins walk away, wait an hour and half and pay 2-4 quid a time for parking. I will be broke if I have to go in that often! Anyway, hope all goes well, especially with the reduced liquor baby - what a funny expression, I can see his bottle of bourbon has got a bit empty! It's great they are monitoring you so closely, must be reassuring. I am away for 2 weeks from Thursday so they may be here by the time I'm back!

twinkle1 · 19/06/2008 20:47

Just wanted to pop on here to give a HUGE double congratulations to Mr & Mrs Twinkle!
Lots of love x x x x x x x x x x x x x

PazzaPlusTwo · 23/06/2008 15:11

Merry which dodgy part of London do you live in? I'm in Hackney - top end of the Murder Mile

OMG my twins are 8 weeks old today!!! I am such a zombie I don't even know if it feels longer or shorter ... seem to have lost the concept of time!

Happy zombie though with my two little zombettes (actually they are more like gremlins with no volume control )

GettingBiggerBird · 23/06/2008 15:59

PPT: I live very near you - Rushmore Road. I'm a long way behind you though, mine aren't due until December. Congratulations on reaching the 8-week milestone! Do you feel a little more human? How are you getting on?

Belated congratulations to Twinkle too.

PazzaPlusTwo · 23/06/2008 17:31

Aha - the posh end of the Murder Mile! ;)

I'm tired and I still feel like I don't know what I'm doing! And I'm still adjusting to not working - it's really really weird.

Sorry I should be more positive! Girls are very well, totally adorable and growing nicely. They are just amazing. I get out to the park (Springfield) every other day or so (when the day doesn't just disappear) which is fab.

We are in a good place to bring up kids - lots of other mums around, lots of parks.

How are you feeling so far?

PazzaPlusTwo · 23/06/2008 17:42

Merry - I love the iCandy Pear - nearly bought it but the shop took so long to get the right bits in for us to look at I lost interest. To be honest we couldn't afford it anyway. Eventually we got a £39.99 little buggy from Argos and borrowed a baby bjorn to start off with. The first time I went out with them, a woman stopped me in the street and asked if I wanted a Maclaren Rally Twin double buggy as she was just about to throw one out. So we got that and it is BRILLIANT!!! Light, easy to fold etc, easy to manoeuvre. Not very sexy but dead practical. It's a shade too wide for my front door but as I'm on the ground floor I can put it up just outside and transfer the girls into/out of it easily. It's still pretty small and nifty for a side-by-side. I can get on the bus through the back door and into/round most shops.

But oh isn't the iCandy gorgeous ...

BTW I recovered from my C-section (Twin 1 was breech) pretty quick - maybe I was lucky. The three days in hospital helped actually - staff were fab.

GettingBiggerBird · 23/06/2008 18:33

Posh - ha! I have a friend who is over the other side of the roundabout (is that the non-posh end?), who is 12 weeks ahead of me also expecting twins, very strange. Know what you mean about adjusting to not working and feeling like you don't know what you're doing. I'm sure I'll get that all over again with 2 this time round. I'm feeling much better now, I was horrid and felt yucky for the first trimester.

pollyana · 27/06/2008 21:43

Congratulations Twinkle ... what lovely names. Hope the babies are well and maybe out of NICU by now. Well done & can't wait to hear all about them!

Millie1 · 29/06/2008 21:59

Twinkle .. you've had your babies! Wow. Congratulations, that's wonderful news. They sound fantastic.

Our pair are great ... sometimes it seems like they feed around the clock and I don't think I'v ever been soooo tired but heck they're worth it!

Neenztwinz · 30/06/2008 12:06

Twinkle - congrats!!

Millie - how old are yours now? The sleep thing is BAD isn't it? Mine are 8 weeks now and this last week they have started sleeping from 11pm till 7am only waking once to feed. It is amazing getting sleep again. I have also started sleeping in my own bed again (I was sleeping with them in the nursery) and it is loads better cos I don't wake to every murmur from them. I know you are suppoased to have them in with you for six months but I just couldn't cope. They can regulate each other's breathing anyway so I don't think it is any safer me being there with them.

MerryMarigold - what an amazing story about your triplets/twins. I can understand being upset, I know I would have been if I'd been told I was having just one baby after thinking it was twins. Twins are still very special though and everyone will make a real fuss of you (esp after they are born - mine are local celebrities!). And I think after your twins are born you will be SO glad it wasn't triplets! I do not know how people cope (the nights are BAD!!!)

Neenztwinz · 30/06/2008 12:08

Welcome to all newbies as well!

Shall we make a list of who is on here? Everyone who has had their babies and those still waiting for theirs to arrive!

Neenztwinz: twins born May 6 2008, Esther and Theo

GettingBiggerBird · 30/06/2008 14:05

Good idea, not sure it's much of a list though, let's see how we go.

Neenztwinz: twins born May 6 2008, Esther and Theo
GBB: twins due Dec 25

Neenztwinz · 01/07/2008 10:21

Wow GBB - you have a way to go yet don't you!! Id or non-id?
